This podcast is terrific for anyone over 40 and under 100! It’s an excellent listen for those who want to live well up to the day they die. While that sounds morbid, it is better than dying a slow death unable to move during the ten years before that final day.
EPISODE SUMMARY: Are you listening? Dr. Pearson talks about how every interaction can be more meaningful if you are listening to learn versus listening to change someone. She speaks of an amazing MD who gets remarkable results with the art of listening. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… Dr. Pearson talks about the art of listening and gives a couple of examples. Once in the door all focus was on the client. The only question that was asked was what would you like me to know about you? He focused on what he called the movie of the client's life that was before him. After an extremely long pause, he would confirm that the person was finished then follow up with questions. Gaining the trust of the client creates a safe feeling that allows the client to tell you things that they might not have. Truly listening to someone can open your realm of possibilities and opportunities. Never underestimate the power of listening. Think about listening to learn, listen to understand; allow people to fully talk and let them finish. CALLS-TO-ACTION: Get a copy of the book on Amazon. EPISODE SUMMARY: In this wild and wacky PodCast, Dr. Pearson tells you how to mitigate your own body discomfort by mobilizing various fluids in the body. Have no idea what she is talking about? Take a listen. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… Dr. Pearson is going to talk to us about mitigating discomfort by mobilizing various fluids in our bodies. There will be three different kinds of discomfort that she will get into. We all know sweating is good for you and there are many different ways to sweat. Sweat helps release toxins from our bodies, but it's important that you replace it with healthy electrolytes. Dr. Pearson recommends Lyte Balance. Now to really get into what Dr. Pearson wanted to talk about. Taking supplements on an empty stomach. Dr. Pearson stood at the top of her stairs and walked down the stairs on her hands, leaving her in an almost downward dog position and then did several deep heavy breaths. This is not recommended if you have weak arms or can get dizzy easily. This can also be done on your bed. Have your knees on your bed and slowly reach down to your floor; you may need assistance. Another discomfort is minstrel cramps. You can try the same movements as Dr. Pearson previously mentioned or you can even do a handstand against a wall. Lastly, there is heartburn. Chug a large glass of water (10 oz) then jump up and down about 20 times. If you have back problems and it hurts to jump you can just press up on your toes and come back down, just be careful to not come back down too hard on your heels. EPISODE SUMMARY: Dr. Pearson talks about how to stand your ground physically in order to be present and to hear the truth. So much time is wasted in life not hearing the truth or telling the truth, so let your body be in good form to make this easier. Secondly, she talks about the maintenance of the most important joint in our body, the hips. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… Standing up for yourself or speaking up for yourself. Telling your truth. If you are not grounded it will be very hard to be present in knowing the truth. You will also not be willing to be open or move forward. Practice this week in being grounded in your body. Moving to your important hip joints. If you can not squat down then that is not good. Do what you can to pull your knee to your chest for a minute. Dr. Pearson gives several different ways you can do it if you have different difficulties. A little resistance is good. Do not wait too long as it could turn into a bigger problem. EPISODE SUMMARY: Dr. Pearson talks about how our culture of denial is so pervasive that it blinds us to knowing when to reach out for help. She shares a very interesting case study that typified how denial leads to disability. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… Book reference: At Peace by Samuel Harrington MD. This podcast is not about death, but Dr. Pearson has always embraced the fact that she will die and believes all of us should do the same. Denial is a lie and the more you lie to yourself the more you will believe it. Marketing is a great tool of denial as it makes you believe something that might not be true. Remember it's important to find out what the cause of the pain is so going back to the beginning is what is going to help you the most not what it is currently. What is it that you are denying? What is it that you are pretending to not be a problem when it is? Do not be afraid to ask around if you don't know what to do. EPISODE SUMMARY: Today we talk about the unneeded energy used trying to figure out what you don't know. Instead of drawing instantaneous conclusions about people and events, (most of which can be negative and just plain wrong,) why not let things unfold organically and discover the truth about people over time? This takes patience and a willingness to not know everything at any given moment. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… Back to the drama conversations. We all prejudge a person or a situation. Dr. Pearson gives a few examples. Luckily Dr. Pearson ignored her initial thoughts and spoke with the person and found out she was totally wrong about her thoughts. Assuming things can cause more stress and worry than necessary. Every time you make up a story in starts to embed itself in your mind as true, but a lot of the time you are wrong which can also cause unneeded stress. Sometimes we pretend to be someone we are not. This too can cause unneeded stress. What is your story? Is it true? Pay attention to the stories you are making up about others around you. Be patent and allow yourself to not know. EPISODE SUMMARY: Dr. Pearson talks about two case studies where both men had horrible neck pain and headaches when they looked up. One had been dealing with pain for 2 years and the other 7 years. It wasn't a case of a stiff neck that needed to be manipulated, in fact, that has been tried in both situations without success. Learn what might else cause this type of restriction and learn a test to determine what might be causing your limitation of motion. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… How do you learn what the right questions are to ask? Dr. Pearson talks about two different case studies of men with horrible neck pain. Muscles in your back are connected to your neck. The muscles in the front of your neck are also very important to take into consideration. Get on your back and lift your head back. If that is easy for you, then you probably won't have problems with your neck flexors. However, if you lift your head up and tuck your chin in and you find yourself shaking, then it is a very good indicator that you have weak or tight neck flexors. Now lay on your stomach and lift your head. There are things you can do to fix the problems. There are some clinics you can take with Dr. Pearson that will help with your neck pains. But I am talking about the regular old day-to-day judging we do to everyone around us. What are the positive outcomes of this? You might not think there is anything good about judgment, but if you use it to learn about yourself, it might be useful! ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… Is there anything good about judgment? Identify the people or energies you judge the most in the outside world. Then identify the energy that is associated with that. Work to heal yourself of the lower energies - it will take time. Once you are aware of it, you can move forward. Ground your new behaviour into a new relationship with the outside world. What are you judging and mirroring back to yourself? Dr. Pearson uses a couple of examples. Recognize if you have done this before and why, then let go and move on. CALLS-TO-ACTION: Get a copy of the book on Amazon. She shares a painful circumstance in her life and how much better it is to honor yourself and those around you, despite the pain of forced change. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… Today Dr. Pearson talks about how perceived injustice closes all doors. Injustice is very painful and frustrating. The bottom line is your ego has been smashed. A great book called ‘The Untethered Soul' by Michael Alan Singer. Thoughts are things you can create and un-create. As we go through life things have to change. Dr. Pearson talks about working with a group of people. You need to let go of the injustice you feel has happened to you. The longer you hold on to it the more you will blow things out of proportion and make it worse than it is. Let go, move on, and create new opportunities. You and a friend can sort this out. If you are lucky, you can treat your shoulder pain all by yourself! Life without pain is a life that looks easier! ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… When we don't know what is causing our pain, it causes a lot of anxiety because we don't know how to get it fixed. Once again, the sooner you take care of your pain, the easier it will heal and the better you will be in the long run. Dr. Pearson talks about shoulder pains. EPISODE SUMMARY: Today Dr. Pearson gets to talk about the value of responding instead of reacting, using the neutral pause. If you want to smash a huge percentage of your self-imposed drama, stress, and aging, this is a must-listen! ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… Time to get back on the drama train. Today we are going to talk about not respecting the pause. There are times of emergency when it is reasonable not to pause, to stop serious physical damage. But it's important to take a pause and not just react when it comes to feelings and emotions. Sometimes you will really beat yourself up for something you may have said because you didn't pause and think about the consequences. Dr. Pearson gives us an example. Seek to understand instead of seeking to be understood. Pause and see where the other person is coming from and why they feel or think the way they do. Just let go of everything you are thinking and feeling and allow yourself to understand and feel what the other person is feeling. Often just doing this will help the other person open up more and you are able to find a common ground. CALLS-TO-ACTION: Get a copy of the book on Amazon. This time the story is about the patient and the aftermath of trying to implement the treatment plan. She gives you some critical tips if you are dealing with a chronic condition that is not turning the corner. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… Dr. Pearson goes back to last week's podcast and follows up on a few things. It's important that you have a plan that you are convicted to, and that you can follow through with. You can not give in to your fears. When changing things in your life it is important to give it some time to work. If a person has hope they can move towards recovery. If they have no hope it becomes extremely difficult to recover. EPISODE SUMMARY: Dr. Pearson discusses an extremely difficult client and how she brought his community of providers all together to figure out what the foundational problem was and how they devised a plan. She provides great tips for those of you with chronic pain and the challenges of getting the right care. After all, pain shortens life so let's find ways to move through. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… Dr. Pearson discusses a difficult patient who has seen many providers. She knew she was not making a dent so she did ask him to provide about seven other providers he trusts so they could do a case study. Doctors will ask many questions and sometimes if you don't speak simply things will get missed. It is possible to be so stressed out that you can't receive anything good. The beautiful thing about having many different professionals gathered to talk is that you realize that there are things you might not know that others might see or know. Providers can also become stressed because they don't know what is happening or how to help. If you are having a lot of problems and you can't seem to find a solution, please, don't be afraid to reach out and see if your provider is willing to gather with others to talk through things. EPISODE SUMMARY: Dr. Pearson gets a little “dramatic” about her upset of a new drug, Ozempic, being used to treat childhood obesity. Yikes! Please, listen to her simple rules of thumb for saving your child and your family from a life with unknown consequences. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… Dr. Pearson has been doing a lot of reading lately and would like to share her concerns with you about drugs used for child obesity. She is going to share some simple do's and don'ts. She's going to share about five to six rules here is what you should do and here's what you shouldn't do. There are so many different types of diets out there that it can become confusing and overwhelming. 45% of adolescents are moving towards obesity and 25% are prediabetic or diabetic. Diabetes is to cancer what smoking is to lung cancer. 80% of adults are overweight or moving toward obesity and 50% of them are prediabetic or are diabetic. American Pediatric Association just came out with a guideline for young adults and children should consider taking drugs or having surgery if they are overweight. The medication they came up with is Ozempic which is actually a diabetic medication, that reduces their desire to eat, but it's an injection that they have to take every week for the rest of their lives. If they stop taking the injection they may develop a metabolic problem that is unknown, they may gain the weight back to a greater degree, and the side effects are nuts. The vast majority of obesity can be improved with what a person chooses to think about what they choose to eat. We are being told so many different things with different diets that it's easy to understand why people are getting so confused and just throwing up their hands. When we get depressed or frustrated it's easy to turn to our favorite foods and just eat away our problems. So let's take a step back and ignore all these thoughts and rules of these other diets and try listening to some simple steps that Dr. Pearson is going to share with us. Try to stay away from fake foods and turn towards real food that doesn't have a list of ingredients. If you eat animals make sure they were cared for properly throughout their lives and not forced to eat things they wouldn't usually or given drugs to keep them alive long enough for slaughter. Don't eat farm fish, they are fed horrible things. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Eat slowly, sit down in a chair, and enjoy what it tastes like. Make sure you aren't grazing all day long. If you are eating processed foods you will find you are hungry all day long, but if you are eating real foods then you find you aren't hungry as often. Organic foods really do matter. Stay away from foods that are not good for your gut. A happy gut is a happy brain. Do these things for your kids so they don't end up addicted to things that will be harder for them to drop as they get older. You can't make these changes overnight, but you can slowly get these changes worked in over a year. CALLS-TO-ACTION: Get a copy of the book on Amazon. EPISODE SUMMARY: Dr. Pearson talks about how one of the best (worst) ways to create self-drama is to throw a couple of manly cuss words out in public and then wonder why. She shares her story about why swearing was a way to dissolve her introverted persona and force an extroverted behavior. Never a good outcome, list and find out why. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… There are reasons to swear, but there are very inappropriate times as well. Dr. Pearson tells us about how she was an introvert and how she forced herself to become extroverted. It's amazing how your association can influence the way you act or the things you say. Dr. Pearson did a workshop called Immunity to change and if you ever have a chance to do one she highly recommends it. Identify what you want to change (swearing) Identify why you want to change it. What would you be losing if you were to stop? What are the primary assumptions that you are making that make your answers to the previous question so uncomfortable? EPISODE SUMMARY: Dr. Pearson continues on the drama theme and touches on one of the most magnificent drama-makers of all - Jealousy. She defines this nasty emotion and guides you to explore ways to kill it. As always she throws herself under the bus while giving good examples of how the green envy monster got a hold of her and how she escaped. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… This week we jump back into the Drama. Sometimes the jealousy loop can last weeks, months, or even years. It's essential to recognize jealousy for what it is. As we age our jealousy changes. Dr. Pearson touches on some of the different changes we might face. She then tells us a story from her college days. After trying to fix jealousy on her own, Dr. Pearson realized that fixing jealousy is really an inside job. You cannot fix jealousy by changing someone else. You have to fix jealousy by letting go in your heart and trusting yourself. When you look at what jealousy is in the bible it talks about jealousy and envy being the enemies of our soul. Jealousy is the opposite of self-love; it's a symptom of pride and a catalyst for conflict. Conflict is Drama! Sometimes the best practice is to just sit down with a journal and write down all the things you are grateful for and remind yourself of the blessing god has given you even if it's not as great as someone else. Stop minimizing the blessings you have been bestowed. We all have gifts so stop comparing them to ones you think you should have had. Dr. Pearson gives us another great example. Jealousy will eat you up from the inside out. It would be best if you stopped it. CALLS-TO-ACTION: Get a copy of the book on Amazon. No pain…you simply age better. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… We take a break from the mental drama and focus on the physical drama. The goal is to live up until we die. EPISODE SUMMARY: Dr. Pearson continues to describe the negative impact of our personally created drama cyclones and how it robs us of energy and life force. This week she talks about the pain of making a decision that you know deep down is not right, but yet still feel justified in making. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… We don't get to live the kind of life we would like to because of the self-imposed drama we create. Are you not being fluid when making important decisions? You may feel justified in the decisions you have made, but deep down inside you know it's not right. Are you pretending so that you don't see the details that are unpleasant or will force you to make even more significant decisions? Dr. Pearson gives a personal example. Are you hiding from the conflict your decisions make and pushing your belief forward even though you know it's not right? Does the decision you are making, need to be done at that exact moment or can it be held off for a better time that will not cause you drama? EPISODE SUMMARY: As we further explore our causes of possible drama, this week Dr. Pearson talks about learning to “see” our lives. The great news is that once you see it, you can change it, and your life can move closer and closer into the no-drama zone. As always, she gives a personal example of how she busted up a lias that was leading her towards more unneeded drama. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… As we get older we realize that we do not view the world the same way as we once did. Throughout our lives, we being to build filters that we look through. It is very hard to see your own bias. So this podcast might be good to share with a friend. Once you become aware of your bias it can be rewired so you can look at things through a different lens. Wake up and smell the coffee; become aware of your situation. Dr. Pearson gives us a personal example. We are here to encourage others through their journey of life. EPISODE SUMMARY: Further self-exploration of drama continues. In this episode, Dr. Pearson talks about pretending to like someone when you don't. What are the signs of challenged relationships, but more importantly what can you do about it to turn them into an ally? ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… Pretending to like someone when you don't. If you don't figure it out then you will end up having some blowups. Life is too short. You will never get to a solution if you don't become brave enough to sit down and have a conversation with that person. Excuses and denial will not work. Feeling disrespected or not heard can cause a great deal of drama. These problems can happen all the time with different people, but you need to keep note and notice when it's happening 4-5 times and then take action. If you have the capacity to fix it then fix it. Seek understanding, find out the why's. Dr. Pearson gives a few examples. Make sure you are planning out a different time to sit down and talk. Don't do it in the heat of the moment. Let the other person know what the meeting is about. Have them write out a list of the things that bother them about you and let them know you will be doing the same. Naturally, we hate being wrong, but we hate even more being wronged. The solution takes a calm mind, it takes a mind of awareness, and then patience because it will take some time to make things the way you want them to be. EPISODE SUMMARY: Dr. Pearson speaks to how easy it is to compare yourself to others, all the while forgetting what is working well in your life. Choose to be grateful for anything, anything at all. This will help pull you out of the drama dug out! ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… No matter who you are there is always someone who has it worse than you. “Comparison is the thief of joy.” Often when we are being ungrateful we are comparing ourselves with others. When you wake up in the morning think about what you have to be grateful for. Focus on the good things and not the negative things we wish were different. Dr. Pearson tells us about a client she used to treat. Sometimes we overlook the beauty others see and only think about the things that bother us so much that we don't realize that no one else sees those things as ugly or bad. Pick one part of your body that you can learn to love. Sometimes gratefulness is the key to a longer life. Own what you look like, and be grateful for the pieces that you have got. Sometimes you have to go to extremes to be grateful. What if you lost the thing you are being ungrateful for? How would your life change if it was totally gone and there was nothing you could do about it. No matter how small say thank you and be grateful for the working piece. Be grateful for the things and people around you. CALLS-TO-ACTION: Get a copy of the book on Amazon. EPISODE SUMMARY: Dr. Pearson discussed the 5th drama creator in our lives - lying. She discusses the art of lying, why we lie and how it shows up. More importantly, she gives a few tips on how to be an honest human and leave the nastiness of the pull on our heartstrings behind. The goal is to lose the drama and move towards a sense of freedom. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… At nine years old Kelli lied to her mom and learned a lesson quickly and never lied to her again. Sometimes we lie because we can't face the truth. Sometimes we lie because we don't want to be wrong. Truthfully the imperfections in each human are what make us. There are many different reasons why we might lie. What should we do instead? As soon as you realize the truth you need to own it! Sometimes we tell so many little white lies that it becomes a habit. If you are going to come forward with something make sure it truly is for the better not just for you, but others. This week try to come clean with a lie. EPISODE SUMMARY: Dr. Pearson takes on the 3rd reason for perpetual drama in our lives. Fear. Are you choosing “yes” or “no” to an action based on the fear associated with that possible next step? She talks about multiple instances in our day-to-day when we are wracked with fear, whether we know it or not. (Spoiler, she talks about scary things she has done despite the felt fear, including doing the flying trapeze at age 65) To see the video go here: https://d1aettbyeyfilo.cloudfront.net/8minutestoagless/30957040_1668714226784trapeze.mp4 ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… Dr. Pearson talks about Fear, another factor that causes drama in our lives. Everyone has fears whether they know it or not, whether they are willing to admit it or not. There are times when you let fear overwhelm you. Dr. Pearson gives us a few examples. Sometimes fear keeps us from taking action for recovery. Sometimes you just have to do one...two…three…do it! People who hold things intend to have a lot more body pain than those who do not. You have to get to the other side of the fear to see or feel the magic. Too many people choose fear instead of possibility. You don't want to let your song die inside of you. You have to take a risk. You have to believe in yourself. CALLS-TO-ACTION: Get a copy of the book on Amazon. In keeping with her willingness to be vulnerable, she provides a few stories of when she lost the battle with self-doubt and reminds you of your greatness just by virtue of being a human. You can do it! ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… We create a lot of drama in our lives based on self-doubt. We compare ourselves to others which helps build our self-doubt. EPISODE SUMMARY: What is drama? Dr. Pearson starts a series of podcasts defining “drama” and how it ages us. It is not always what we do with our body related to movement, or what we put in the mouth that sets the stage for early aging. This series will focus not just on defining drama, but on what we might do to change the impact. You get to experience vulnerability on this show. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… If we can recognize the drama in our lives, we can choose something different and have less personal angst. Dr. Pearson gets vulnerable with us and tells us a story from about ten years ago. What is drama? Dr. Pearson is writing a second book about a breakdown of drama. EPISODE SUMMARY: Dr. Pearson talks about the silly situations her patients have reported that have led to chronic and hard-to-heal conditions. The theme of her message is the need to seek treatment sooner than later. The body is amazing in its ability to heal, particularly if you give it a head start. Recommended books: Joseph Dispenza - Rewire Your Anxious Brain Chris Maher - Free For Life ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… Dr. Pearson starts by telling us a story from when she was 18. She had broken her hand and believing that it was healed removed the cast against her doctor's wishes. Now she has an overgrowth bone in her hand that sometimes hits her nerve and causes numbness and sometimes pain. She looks back now and realizes that she probably should have been more cautious and listened to her doctor. Dr. Pearson then tells us a story about a mountain climber that broke his leg and shattered his ankle in his early 20s. He didn't go see a doctor for several weeks after the injury and by the time he did the doctors told him it was too late to do anything. Now that he is older he is having to deal with a lot of pain from that injury. Thankfully Dr. Pearson has been able to help him with movement and he will get a little better, but he will never be the way he used to be. Another story is about a young gentleman who tore his Achilles heel while playing basketball. He did have surgery, but no PT and he continued to play on it hard. Over time it affected his knee. Pain is our best friend; it can tell us when something is not right and we need to attend to it. A gentleman fell on a dock and broke about 4 or 5 ribs that ended up puncturing his lung. He didn't do anything to help with his rib mobility while he was healing and this affected his ability to bend. This also affected his back and he ended up with acute lower back pain. The overall point of all of Dr. Pearson's stories is to take care of your injury. Get in to seek professional help right away and then follow it up with proper care and learn how to move that injury the way it was supposed to move again. DO NOT WAIT TO GET CARE! EPISODE SUMMARY: Dr. Pearson takes the time to share out the results of a recent Civility Workshop where half the room were boomers and the other half were millennials. What the group learned was tremendous and the information can be used to make your workplace better, your family better, and your friend group more fun. If you are interested in attending one of Dr. Pearson's Zoom Civility workshops, send her an email to kpearsondc@mac.com with the subject line: Request Civility Link. The course is free. She provides this course to the general public once a month, on the first Tuesday of the month from 9 am to 11 am PDT. Anyone who has an opinion about anything is eligible! ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… This week Dr. Pearson held a Civility Workshop and she learned a great deal from it. The workshop had half the room as boomers and the other half as millennials. There is a real struggle in the world right now where employers are struggling to hire and keep employees which is a big stressor. Dr. Pearson tells us that she will be writing a book based on her findings through the Civility Workshops. The question they started off with what does it look like to be safe and secure at work. People are becoming more interested in knowing why they are doing something. The millennials believe the key is transparency and excellent communication with every change. We also need to manage expectations. The millennials are not used to talking face to face and having someone truly listen to them for a long period of time. So remember take time to just hush and listen to people, let them completely finish saying what they want and you can make them feel totally different without even saying a word. EPISODE SUMMARY: Dr. Pearson talks about why you must trust your body can heal and why you must take your body for treatment when it's broken. Poor aging comes from unneeded suffering! She shares a family story about her brother and sister who played perfect roles to support our message today! ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… We will be talking about a subject that has two parts today. In order for us to do well in life, we have to pay attention to our bodies. Dr. Pearson was able to spend time with some family this last week. Her brother had recently started having really bad elbow pain. When you have pain it's best to look at what areas are attached to the area that is causing pain. As Dr. Pearson was testing her brother's muscles around his elbow she realized that some were weakened. That means that it was overworked and now it won't fully engage. She also discovered that the bones in his wrist weren't moving properly. His elbow joint also wasn't moving properly and seemed stuck. Proper posture also is a significant factor. The longer you wait with pain the harder and longer it will take to heal. Always listen to your body and seek professional help and guidance. CALLS-TO-ACTION: Get a copy of the book on Amazon. EPISODE SUMMARY: Can you lose 100 pounds when you are 48? You bet. Listen to Jay who being inspired and supported by his son, made simple and effective changes that changed how he feels, the medication he no longer takes, and his hike in overall happiness. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… Dr. Pearson brings us another interview. Jay played a lot of sports when he was younger. College days he no longer thought about staying in shape instead he was focused on drinking and having fun with friends. And then life happens and the focus shifts to work. He would have little bouts of wanting to lose some weight, but it never lasted. About 4 to 5 years ago Jay hit the 300-pound mark. His son decided he would get into shape one day and went from 230 pounds to about 150. Jay thought there was no way he could do that, but his son told him that he could. With his sons encouragement and belief Jay decided to give it a try. Before focusing on getting back into shape, Jay had back pains, knee pain, high blood pressure, & high cholesterol. Now Jay is the smallest he has been since High School. Since Jay has lost so much weight he was taken off of the medications that he was put on and noticed how much better he is feeling. Dr. Pearson tells us that a lot of the time people can eat themselves out of the medications they are taking without even realizing that was the main cause. Jay started watching what he was eating and became more active. Jay only did simple exercises and they helped a lot. You don't need to do anything physically extreme to lose extreme weight. The easiest part for Jay was cutting back on junk food. He started noticing a big difference last year, about 3 months after making changes. Jay has also noticed that the pain in his back has gone away, but his knees are still a little sore, but that is because of past injuries and the fact that he jogs. Jay feels healthier and has a lot more energy; overall feels younger. Have someone who you respect and who has your back alongside you. And don't ever give up. No matter what your age is as long as you put your mind to it and stay the course you can do anything. CALLS-TO-ACTION: Get a copy of the book on Amazon. EPISODE SUMMARY: The art of aging and living well depends upon your ability to recognize that someday you will die. Dr. Pearson talks about beautiful ways to learn and grow from attending funerals and being at the bedside of those you love. While this may at first seem like less than a happy topic, take a listen as you will find the joy in releasing those ready to move on. ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… Dr. Pearson tells us about a lady who was the only one in her city to build a house on her own with hand tools. Have you said Hello to Death today? You must look at death every day in order to live life fully! Dr. Pearson also tells us a little bit about Dannion Brinkley who died and came back to life twice. She recommends reading some of his books. When you go to a funeral you end up learning a lot more about the person than you thought you knew. Rarely do people tell others about their accomplishments and accolades. You can also learn things you would like to change about yourself. Funerals are not for the dead they are for the living. Dr. Pearson talks about being by her mother's bedside as she left this world. She learned things about her mom she never knew. Dr. Pearson could sense the presence of her stepfather as her mother passed away. It brought peace to both Dr. Pearson and her Mom. Be open to learning from others in life and death. EPISODE SUMMARY: What can I do myself to get rid of my headache? Dr. Pearson says, “I'm not fond of headaches, and I bet you feel the same way. My “why” for being a chiropractic physician is to give people the power to fix their pain. Sadly, we can feel horrible for hours at a time with a headache, and all we typically do is run to the medicine cabinet and hope. I want to share ten tips that you can do to turn the corner on the headache and even get rid of the pain. TEN TIPS... Pound the water: Drink two 10-ounce glasses of water. No ice, chug it. Best pain killer ever! While I am not a fan of drugs first, aspirin helps. Take 3 with your third glass of water. Aspirin, after all, comes from willow bark and the salicin in the will bark turns to salicylic acid the precursor and metabolite of aspirin. Take some magnesium or even better, take the magnesium within a properly produced electrolyte having the proper mineral salts in the correct ratio. (Magnesium of one of our critical mineral salts.) I love Lytebalance, and you get that online, and it does not contain sugar. If you suspect that you ate something funky, take some unactivated charcoal and let that absorb the toxins. You can do this with the aspirin as long as you are well hydrated. (This is a supplement you can buy easily and having it on hand before you need it is smart.) If you are constipated (been more than a day since having bowel movement), put castor oil on a cloth with a heat source on your belly for an hour and massage your belly in a clockwise correction as you look down on your stomach. Unhappy bowels can create headaches. Stretch your dura! The dura covers your brain and extends down the outside of the spinal cord, finally securing to the tailbone. Stretching the dura can be done in a couple of ways. Sit in the shower with knees tucked to your chest and your head dropped down, and let the hot water splash on your neck. Breathe and let go and stay there for at least 4 minutes. If you can't shower, bend down slowly as far as you can with your arms heavy and head down. Stay there for 30 seconds or more if possible, and then roll up one vertebra at a time, taking another 30 seconds. Repeat this a few times. Note: If you are dehydrated, your head will pound when you bend down. (To watch a video of me doing this go to: www.8minutestoageless.com and scroll down to the Dural Stretch video.) Sit in a chair and do some deep belly breathing. Close your eyes and let go and trust. Use a topical anesthetic on your neck. (Bio freeze, Bengay, or CBD ointments.) Use a warm rice bag (1 minute to 80 seconds in the microwave) while sitting and doing your breathing. Remember, you will get through this. Trust your body. If you are a person of faith, ask for God's help and be grateful in advance that this headache will let go. CALLS-TO-ACTION: Get a copy of the book on Amazon. You can reach out to Sabrina in a few ways: Cell phone 509 270 2665 Web site: sabrinagonder.com Email: gethealthywithsabrina@gmail.com ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… Today we have a guest speaker, Sabrina Gonder who will talk about her specialty the AO Scanner. So many people are struggling, especially these last couple of years. If Sabrina could have it her way she would suggest everyone get the inner voice scan which is one of the features of the AO scan. It uses a technique called harmonizing and binaural beats to give those tones back to the person or the pets to balance out their emotions. In 10 seconds she can take a voice recording that is full of frequency and come up with some tones that will balance out the tones that are out of balance. Energy medicine may become the way of the future. Sabrina then tells us a few examples of getting scanned. Most people experience calm after being scanned. You do need to listen to your tones about 3 times during the day, but the great thing is that it is fast to do, and you can multitask as you do this. It is essential that humans use earbuds or headphones, but for animals, you play it over the speakers for them to hear. Dogs, cats, or horses can benefit from hearing tones. There is also color therapy where you can wear a certain color glasses while listening to the tones and get added benefits. There is also a vitals report which is compromisable to a blood test and also a comprehensive test which combines the vitals and tones test together. These are all educational tools, not diagnostic tools, they will only point you in a direction to look at. There is a lot to this so be sure to look Sabrina up to learn more about what she can do. If you are plagued with plantar fasciitis, this episode will outline the causes and the fixes. Remember, lack of exercise is the common denominator in people who are not doing the aging thing well! ON THIS EPISODE, WE DISCUSS… A client has lost over 95 pounds and did it by increasing movement in her life, mainly walking. Foot pain can keep us from moving. Dr. Pearson tells us about some of the causes of foot pain. If you have flat feet you will want to create an arch or create strength in your foot. She then tells us how to do a short foot exercise.
