Today on the Art + Business + Murals Podcast I am speaking with abstract artist, Natalie Parker. Her expressive paintings explore the rawness of human emotion through gestural mark making, contrasting brushstrokes and colour. With a paint brush in her hand since kindergarten, art has been the vehicle through which this introvert can express herself to the world.Formally trained with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Postgraduate Diploma of Secondary School Art Teaching, Natalie's art knowledge and experience provides her with a wealth of ideas to explore in the studio. Natalie's process begins with a colour palette and feeling in mind as she takes to the canvas. Often beginning with expressive brushstrokes and gestural mark making. As the work begins to take form she pulls back and assesses what to leave and what to remove. With layers of colour and a push and pull conversation emerging, Natalie remains in the dance of the work until resolution and peace arise.Through her work, Natalie aims to bring a sense of calm and order and show that beauty and joy can emerge in even the most challenging seasons of life. In this interview we talk about the business side of art, developing your art style and balancing parenting and art.  If you'd like to check out Natalies's work: Website // https://www.natalieparkerartist.com Instagram // https://www.instagram.com/natalieparkerstudio/ Facebook // https://www.facebook.com/natalieparkerartist/   ——— Thank you so much for tuning into the Art + Business + Murals PodcastIf you'd like to say ‘hi' to me, or if you have any podcast topic ideas or artists you'd like me to interview, please email: podcast@sarahsculley.com Please follow along: Instagram // https://www.instagram.com/sculleydesign/ Facebook // https://www.facebook.com/sculleydesign You Tube // https://www.youtube.com/@SarahSculley/videos Website // https://www.sculleydesign.com Feel free to give this podcast a star rating and ‘follow' so you are notified when new episodes come out each Monday. Today I am speaking with Jordan Bruce from The Brightsiders. Jordan is a Brisbane mased muralist and contemporary artist. He is driven to participate and add to the visual landscape of public space. The immediacy and impact of graffiti on the urban environment had a formative impression on his way of seeing and engaging in art. From this platform Jordan moved into painting murals, co-founding Brightsiders and creating large scale artworks across the country.  Jordan's personal art practice runs in tandem to his mural work, a feedback loop of experiences, technique and inspiration. Jordan is drawn to the detail of colour and texture, light and shadow in nature, observing and reflecting this through his work.   In this interview we talk about life balance, the ebs and flows of work, diversification and painting silos.   If you'd like to check out Jordan's work: Website // www.brightsiders.com.au Instagram // https://www.instagram.com/jordanbruceart Facebook // https://www.facebook.com/Brightsidersau  ——— Thank you so much for tuning into the Art + Business + Murals PodcastIf you'd like to say ‘hi' to me, or if you have any podcast topic ideas or artists you'd like me to interview, please email: podcast@sarahsculley.com Please follow along: Instagram // https://www.instagram.com/sculleydesign/ Facebook // https://www.facebook.com/sculleydesign You Tube // https://www.youtube.com/@SarahSculley/videos Website // https://www.sculleydesign.com Feel free to give this podcast a star rating and ‘follow' so you are notified when new episodes come out each Monday.
