What God knows we need Key verses: Matthew 6:8 your father knows what you need before you ask him. Philippians 4:19 My God will supply every need according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Jeremiah 29:13 E - Expect: "But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of sea, blown and tossed by the wind." James 1:6 E - Explore: "I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His Word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning." How do you explain God to a toddler? Anna Nash and Jane Lazenby took on the challenge to help young children see God in their brand new book, You Can See Him. You might know Anna as the founder and director of Beacon People or as an author of Bible study and devotional books, but you may not know her as "Nanna Anna," which is what her grandchildren call her. Anna first saw the need for You Can See Him, when she found herself rewording other Bible story books, so her very young grandchildren could understand them. Anna then recruited Jane Lazenby, a local talented artist and friend of Beacon People, to illustrate You Can See Him, which was new territory for Jane. At our last Coffee & Connection event at Workshop Local, Anna Nash shared some vulnerable and comical personal stories of her own tendency towards multi-tasking, helping us get to the heart of why so many of us struggle in this area. Anna also gave us some practical tips to help us move to a more peaceful, slower pace as we seek to live a more purposeful life. Learn with us: "So here's what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him. Don't become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You'll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you." Romans 12:1,2 (Message) “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to Me. Get away with Me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with Me and work with Me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with Me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28 (Message) Mark 6:30-44 Jesus Feeds the 5,000 Suggested reading: The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry: How to Stay Emotionally Healthy and Spiritually Alive in the Chaos of the Modern World by John Mark Comer and John Ortberg A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 by W. At Beacon People we talk a lot about purpose and the privilege of growing God's Kingdom, and one way we get to do that is through parenting. Lauren McKenzie, M.A., C.P.C. is an adult-child relationship strategist. Adults get emotionally worn out when kids are difficult to deal with, and this wreaks havoc in every area of their lives. Using a proven framework, she shows grown ups how to take control of their emotions and positively engage with kids so they can gain cooperation, escape overwhelm, and show up as the best version of themselves. With an extensive background in education, the specialization of a certified professional life coach, and a heart to point families toward the truth of the Gospel, Lauren guides families on their journey from chaos to calm. "This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to Himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to Him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself, no longer counting people's sins against them. And He gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation." 2 Corinthians 5:17-19 (NLT) You can connect with Lauren on her website: winwithwkids.co/connect To learn more about Beacon People, please visit our website: beaconpeople.org For Beacon People News, follow us on Instagram: @beacon.people

If money were not a factor, what would you spend your time doing every day? 4. What values or principles do you hold dear, and how do they influence your decisions? 5. When faced with challenges, what motivates you to overcome them? 6. If you could make a positive impact on the world, what cause or issue would you choose to support? 7. Consider a time when you felt truly alive and purposeful. What were you doing in that moment? 8. What dreams or aspirations did you have as a child, and do they still resonate with you today? 9. Closing out the series of pathFinder, we will discover that treasures can be found every day in different ways. Purpose is not found in a vocation, a mission, starting a nonprofit or developing a new idea etc. When you peer into God's Word you find out that He has made you for His purposes. You can also begin to understand that purpose is found most deeply by knowing your Purpose Giver. Connecting with Him on a regular basis, is the surest path to finding His purposes for you. "And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of Him." If God is your creator and has given you work to do on earth, for your joy, and His glory, you can connect with Him to receive what He has for you through His Son, Jesus. He is our commissioner and it is a joy when we realize He loves us and cares for us enough to give us opportunity each day to serve Him. In this chapter, we will talk about what your personal mission is and how to carry that out currently. "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." Matthew 28:19, 20 Visit our website for more pathFinder resources, including the companion book and videos. In this chapter, we will take a good look at your strengths, your weaknesses and your skills. It will remind you that God made you with certain gifts as His own handiwork. All that you are as you steward these gifts, bring Him glory as you honor Him with your life. When your uniqueness is recognized and pursued life can be very fulfilling. "I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are Your works, my soul knows it very well." Psalm 139:14 Visit our website for more pathFinder resources, including the companion book and videos. Contact us for more information on pathFinder small groups and coaching.
You're very unique because your life is made up of different puzzle pieces, including people, pursuits, and passions. No two people are alike. Did you know that God has purposes for you to serve on earth that no one else can serve? If you think about it, this is pretty incredible. Put the puzzle pieces together to begin to see how God has formulated your life for your fulfillment and His glory. “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1 Visit our website for more pathFinder resources, including the companion book and videos. If you are God's child, and believe that He is your Creator, then you have a story that aligns very closely with His story. You are created to be a light in this world. The best way to shine for Him is by joining Him in His purposes on earth. In this chapter, let's see how your smaller story aligns with His bigger story, and how encouraging it is as we can see our lives from this perspective. "Blessed is the one who listens to Me, watching daily at My gates, waiting beside My doors." Proverbs 8:34 Visit our website for more pathFinder resources, including the companion book and videos. Do you know God's big story in the Bible and what it's all about? From Genesis all the way to Revelation there's a central theme that Jesus comes to take away the sin of the world. His main purpose on earth was to fulfill His Father's purposes for Him. His bigger story is a story of redemption and offers hope to all who believe. "For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, 'Abba! Father!'" Do you believe that your life is a special treasure? God made you just as you are in many wonderful ways to fulfill what He has for you on earth. Especially for those of us who consider ourselves task-oriented, summer schedules may feel like a threat to the joyful work God has given us. Although thankful for additional time with family and friends, we may feel disconnected from our work, which can lead to confusion and anxiety. The very best way to remain connected to our calling this summer is to stay connected with our Purpose Giver. Listen as Anna Nash shares the importance of staying connected with God this summer and Marnie Clark shares some practical applications from her own life. How do we know that God is our Purpose Giver? All we do at Beacon People stems from the belief that God is our Purpose Giver! Ephesians 2:10 says – “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” So…it's all about Him anyway. “But as for me, how good it is to be near to God! I have made the Sovereign LORD my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things You do.” Psalm 73:28 “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking.” James 1:5 “This is what the LORD says: ‘Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans, who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the LORD. They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future. They will live in the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land. But blessed are those who trust in the LORD and have made the LORD their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.'” Jeremiah 17:5-8 “Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God's right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth.” Colossians 3:1,2 Questions to consider: · How does spending time with God on a regular basis affect your attitude and outlook? · How do you feel when you are working for yourself and your own agenda, rather than working for God and His agenda? · What are some practical ways you can stay connected to God this summer? Listen to the "Connecting with God" series on the Anna Nash Podcast to learn how others like to spend time with God. purpose
A calling is "a strong urge toward a particular way of life or career; a vocation." As believers in the Word of God we believe that God gives the urge, the desire. He creates each of us with very specific yet unique purposes. Many days finding yourself in the zone of your calling gives an exhilaration like no other. But then there are the days when nothing goes as planned, causing emotions of fear, anxiety, and frustration, to name just a few. Is there a way to stay constant, solid, immovable and anchored every when many circumstances around you are swirling?
