What if the tiny decisions you think don't matter are the very ones sabotaging your life? In this fire-breathing, practical episode of The Impossible Life, Garrett and Nick bring sharp tools and deep truths to expose the root of complacency—and how to kill it before it kills your purpose. Nick opens by breaking down how “Today Matters” isn't just a nice phrase—it's a lifestyle. He shares how a single conversation about the time we spend in traffic (8,600+ hours in a lifetime!) changed his entire view on daily decisions. Garrett brings the intensity as always, sharing how his life-and-death experiences taught him to obey the whole command, not just the parts that feel convenient. From small disciplines like making your bed to guarding your words with military-level caution, this episode will challenge you to see every moment as a weapon or a wound.

Have you ever wondered what legacy you'll be leaving behind to those around you? In this episode, John C. Maxwell shares four standards that you can embrace in order to leave a legitimate leadership legacy to the people you lead! After John's lesson, Mark Cole and Chris Goede come together to talk about what they learned and how you can apply it to your life and leadership. Key takeaways: No matter what your strengths are, if character is not present in your life, it's only a matter of time until it will hurt you and the legacy you're passing on. We over value decision-making and we under value decision managing. At the end of a legacy done well or not done well, there will be a harvest. In this episode of the Broken to Beautiful Podcast, we will be diving into the transformative power of self-discipline. Drawing inspiration from Hebrews 12:11, the discussion centers on embracing the discomfort of discipline for long-term fulfillment and righteousness. With insights from John Maxwell's teachings, the distinction between the momentary pain of self-discipline and the enduring pain of regret is explored, urging listeners to prioritize disciplined living. Practical examples, including the significance of exercise and the challenge of abstaining from alcohol, illustrate the immediate and future benefits of disciplined choices. Anchored in 1 Corinthians 10:13, the episode emphasizes divine support in overcoming temptation and making righteous decisions. Through a structured approach inspired by Maxwell's methodology, listeners are encouraged to define habits, assess their purpose, and evaluate the consequences of their actions. The episode concludes with a prayerful reflection, reinforcing the importance of discipline in shaping a fulfilling and purpose-driven life. Today matters. What you do today shapes who you will become tomorrow. The definition of love is worded so wonderfully in the Bible. How many times have you read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and thought that there might be some work to do on your own heart? We have all been there. In this episode Pastor Toby challenges us to make today matter. Be who God destined for you to be. Start today! Today Matters.

“Today is the best time to start. Our tomorrow self is eagerly waiting. Our yesterday self no longer knows best.” —MiaI wanted to share with you something that I teach, a simple tool that is behind all my big changes, and in recent years FLOW365ers.How often do you get a download or an idea but struggle to bring it to life because your plate is so full? This gets even harder when you want a life of balance, a life that lets you be there for those you love and where you are not burned out.I have lots of planning tools and balance tools in my toolbox. I'll be sharing more of them, but I wanted to start with the one that kickstarted my health transformation 14 years ago — and has helped me every day ever since: the Today Sheet. How Do I Find the TimeA few years ago, maybe 7, I went on the road to promote my book Plan SImple Meals. I thought I'd be teaching meal planning and how to feed your kids healthy food.Instead I kept getting the same question over and over: How do I find the time? I saw a sea of women who were frustrated because they literally couldn't figure out how to get to work, get their kids, get home, and make dinner. And I realized it wasn't about dinner. This question came up around so many things that we say we want to do: exercise more, write a book, launch something new in our business, declutter the house, spend time with our kids, get back to a hobby like dancing or photography, meditate … We all have the time we need to make the changes we want. But we don't always see it. Why? Because we are so busy doing everything. And there iis too much noise to notice.Doing is necessary, but it needs to be balanced by being. Another way to look at this is that “the doing” is a masculine energy, and we live in a world that is skewed very masculine. So let's start by getting comfortable with the feminine and bringing it into how we think of tiime. Rather than starting from the long to-do list that you feel rather detached from, start by getting centered and allowing the vision to come forward. We make better decisions when we come from a place of feeling centered. We are better able to schedule from a place of being decided.Once we have our vision and we've scheduled, we need to follow through. But here's what makes this process different: we aren't working from the assumption that every day is the same or that you are working 9–5.Following through recognizing your cycles and seasons.Learning to Bend TimeI struggled to answer that question women asked about how to find the time. It seemed that as I was making these big changes, there was time.Time to learn how to cook. Time to eat raw vegan and be a great mom and grow a design company. Time to write a book as a dyslexic human who believed she wasn't a writer. Time to educate my kids on the road and speak at schools and eat well. I had always been told I had ADHD, or that I was just “creative,” because finishing on time or early was not my thing. But in the case of these important life things, in this phase, I was doing pretty great.I started to look at what had worked for me.It started with a health change. I was running a design company that was going well. I had a husband I loved, and three great kids. And I was exhausted and 70 lbs overweight from my three pregnancies. One day, staring at a stack of coffee cups and wondering how I could have no energy, I drew a line in the sand. It was time to get healthy. It started with getting really clear on what I wanted, what was essential. The first step I took: Ask around the office, “What would you do if you wanted to get healthy today?” Everyone said I should go to a yoga class, so I called the babysitter and said I was going to be late. For the first time ever I took care of...

Welcome to Episode 174 where we talk about how what is going on in your life today is directly affecting your future. In this episode we are going to get into how the things you do today DO and WILL impact your tomorrow, and good planning and living intentionally and on purpose means we take responsibility for all the big and the little things we do each day, each week, each month each year. We may not realize how they add up over time. Are all or at least most of these things in alignment with where we want to be five years from now? How do we know? Are we being up front and honest with ourselves or are afraid to be because of what we would have to admit? Key Elements: Assess the different ways we either are building steps to our goals or sabotaging them. Look at some of the more “invisible” ways we can get in our own way. Talk about how to take better ownership of all the little things that matter. Inspiration in life is born when we have a purpose. -Daniel Longwe Resources: Make sure you sign up for the bonus downloads at www.ownitpowercast.com. God is preparing you for a burning bush moment. God is setting you up for a greater purpose. In other words, Your present faithfulness will lead you to your future purpose.
Do you catch yourself thinking about the future often? Hi, I'm Mike Henry Sr. with Follower of One. Thanks for joining me again today on the Follower of One podcast. “Today” is a key word. And I try and use “today” often in the podcast because our work is focused on today. Our ministry to our coworkers is a “today” ministry. Today, I'm going to read a passage in Hebrews 3:7. “Therefore, just as the Holy Spirit says today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as when they provoked me as in the day of trial in the wilderness.” That's Hebrews 3:7-8 from the New American Standard. In this passage in Hebrews, actually twice in chapter 3 and again in chapter 4, the author of Hebrews talks about the importance of today. We're to encourage one another, as long as it's still called today. In Hebrews 4:7, it quotes this passage again, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.” (that's from Psalm 95). The key of “today” I think is important for us because daily we have this opportunity to walk with Jesus as we live and demonstrate that we believe that Christ makes a difference, Christ has transformed us, The Holy Spirit is living in us, and as the Holy Spirit lives in us, He makes a difference in our lives. Each day, we get another shot at glorifying Him, of making Him visible, at living like we know He exists and He's there and He loves us. I'm fascinated at this because even if we screwed up yesterday, even if you've already screwed up today, you get another shot. We all get another shot. We can live like we follow Jesus any moment in time and that's why we use the word “today'' in our podcasts. I believe I've probably used that word in every single podcast because our goal is to encourage other believers today. Today, we have a job to do. Today, you are powerful enough to change your own behavior and act in such a way that you believe that Jesus is Lord. And when you do that, we join Him in His work in our world. He's busy drawing all people to himself and we join Him when we do that. And so, today, I want to challenge you. Begin with the prayer. “Okay. Jesus. Here I am. What would you have me do today?”, and then Jesus will put you to work. It's His job from that prayer on, He will put you to work in the lives of people. Let's listen to His speaking to us through the Holy Spirit. Let's listen to His challenges. We will get opportunities to appreciate people and to serve people. We will have these chances. Here in Hebrews, we are reminded that today is the day. If we haven't followed Jesus yet, we can choose to follow him. If we make the choice to move one notch closer to Jesus today, we can help someone else move one notch closer to Jesus today. And that's my challenge for us today. Let's help the people around us move one notch closer to Jesus. Thank you for being a marketplace minister. Thank you for sharing these podcasts. We're a donor supported ministry. Yesterday and tomorrow are important, but what matters most is TODAY. You are creating your future today, and you'll never change your life unless you change today. On today's episode of Faith NOW, Pastor Toby encourages us with 5 ways to change today. Get your notes ready and let's get to it!
"You can pay now and play later, or you can play now and pay later. But either way, you are going to have to pay". This excellent quote was provided by John C. Maxwell in his book, Today Matters: 12 Daily Practices to Guarantee Tomorrow's Success". This quote expands on the principle that today is important for your future. Your actions today will determine if your future is filled with success, or failure. Which path are you headed on based on your daily actions? In this episode, host Matt Lupi provides you with a call to action to make today count. On the journey to success, a fee must be paid. Dues are collected. You can either choose to pay these dues now while you are still young, hungry and full of energy OR you can defer these dues until later in life, filling your days with stress, unfulfillment and worry. Either way, you have to pay. Would you rather pay now and play later, or play now and pay later? Many people desire success but lack the work ethic that success requires. Each day, we can pay dues toward our finances, mindset, education, relationships, emotions, spirituality and more. Investing in these critical areas of life now will blossom into future success, where you can then play freely. Rather than taking vacations while work still clouds your mind and brings you stress, you can instead live freely and do what you want, when you want, with who you want, if you just make the decision to pay your dues NOW. In this episode, Matt discusses: The importance of paying now, instead of playingWays to pay your dues NOW and every dayHow to become proactive, rather than reactiveThe benefit of playing later, without stress and obligationA visualization exerciseThe expense of success increases with your age4-step plan of action to make today matterYou can listen to this episode on your favorite podcast platform and also check out previous episodes HERE. In this episode, we discuss what we can learn from the Oscars slap. Everyone has been talking about the slap seen around the world at the Oscars. It all started with a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith.Smith appeared to be laughing at first, but seconds later he walked up to the stage and slapped Rock. He returned to his seat and shouted profanities at Rock.No matter which side you look at it, we don't agree with how Smith handled this situation. We are not allowed, just because someone else crossed the line, to be violent, mean, or uncivil. It's not OK to be mean or harm somebody in response to what they say or do. Unless you're defending a life. The joke was based on Jada's medical condition Alopecia and was not well received and understandably so. But there are better ways to deal with a situation like this. We take the time to discuss that in this episode. How Will Smith most especially could've handled this incident and what we can learn from it.Please accept my personal invitation to an exclusive Mastermind Group to make this your best year yet. We'll mastermind on Today Matters by John Maxwell. "People overestimate what they can do in a year, but underestimate what they can do in a decade," said Bill Gates. Annabelle has a unique spin on this -- we actually overestimate what we think we can do in a year and underestimate what we can do in a day because days become a decade. If we spend our days waiting to take action tomorrow our dreams will be mere fantasies. What are you dreaming about? What do you need to do today? What does it mean to take action today on your dreams? Comment below! Thanks for joining the great conversation.
