We explore the challenges that come with promoting yourself, the "ick" of selling, and the surprising ways perimenopause can knock your confidence when you least expect it.  Jane shares personal insights from her experience of starting her business as a side-hustle whilst juggling a senior role in the NHS and how she found ways to become more visible without stepping outside her comfort zone. If you've ever doubted yourself or hesitated to share your wins, this episode will leave you feeling empowered to take up space, show up authentically, and embrace the discomfort of visibility.  Please note - there's some spicy language once at around 19 minutes but it's clean apart from that! How do you explain God to a toddler? Anna Nash and Jane Lazenby took on the challenge to help young children see God in their brand new book, You Can See Him. You might know Anna as the founder and director of Beacon People or as an author of Bible study and devotional books, but you may not know her as "Nanna Anna," which is what her grandchildren call her. Anna first saw the need for You Can See Him, when she found herself rewording other Bible story books, so her very young grandchildren could understand them. Anna then recruited Jane Lazenby, a local talented artist and friend of Beacon People, to illustrate You Can See Him, which was new territory for Jane. Today my visitor is Jane, better known as Lady Janey, who I met on one of my courses a few years ago. She shares what she learnt on that course and what she's achieved since using that knowledge.   A very busy lady, Jane is a consumer champion, who presents on radio, appears on TV, writes for publications, her own blog and national papers.  She talks to me about her blog and how that has developed, to the point of earning an income from it. Her business grew out of the fact she was worried about the falling standards of customer services in the UK. The advice that was out there about getting in touch with companies, or customer service, was often very confusing. Initially, she started as a mystery shopper, and writing and talking about it, helped to build her business. Jane gives some excellent tips about booking summer holidays – one of the main ones being, to pay by credit card, and the other, to have a contingency fund to get you back from somewhere, should you get stuck, and you have to cover the costs at the time. She also gives some tips on avoiding scams. One of the things that Jane says annoys most people about customer service, is not being able to get hold of people. And she has a great answer to that. A fascinating and hugely important tip she has is - be a better customer – you will get a better experience.   Listen to the podcast to find out why!  To contact Jane: Website: https://ladyjaney.co.uk/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ladyjaney75/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/ladyjaney75/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ladyjaney75/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/ladyjaney75 If you would like to contact me: www.Scottmedia.uk or if you'd like to join my Facebook group it's Fiona Scott's PR Tribe and it's here - https://www.facebook.com/groups/prtribe

We each have a story,  and part of our story may be difficult to talk about, accept or even think about. But what do our stories really mean? How do they play a role in who we are and how they define us? What if we don't like our stories? How can we view them differently so that our stories work FOR us, so they lift us up, drive us forward and inspire us to be the best version of ourselves?  In this interview with Jane Cebrynski, we get honest and real about hard stories and how to not only accept them, but leverage them. Jane is a Chief Well Being Officer with Champion Well Being, an organization that focuses on living life like athletes play sports - brilliant! The intention is to always be striving for better, to have a champion mindset, to let losses and obstacles serve as opportunities and to be in continual training.  In the interview we cover: Living your life like an athlete trains for their sportHow you can apply a champion mind set to your lifeHow covid affected the athletic world, and how we can apply their adaptability strategiesThe importance of believing something is possibleHow to build resilience and positivity in the hard momentsWhy losses are even more important than the wins How to not stay stuck, focus on the lesson and being able to let go and move onWhy we sometimes identify with our hard stories in unhealthy waysWhat to do when an emotional “injury” comes up in life, how to reengage and why we need time to heal before we get back to our optimum pace of lifeWhy the best athletes are looking for constant improvement and how and why this is important in lifeHow growth can be an fun, an adventure and how it changes the growth experienceHow shame can hold us back from growthWhy the ending of some friendships after divorce is ok Why acknowledging our stories allows us to healWhy our brains want to make up stories about what other people are thinking and why it's a huge waste of time How to share your story openly, authentically, honestly in a healthy way. The question to ask before sharing your story I had a very hard divorce story and really struggled personally with a lot of heaviness around it. What I realized is that we CHOOSE how to view our story. We can proactively create healing around our story and reframe what it means. It takes time, intention, personal awareness, and willingness to do the work. It's not easy, but I can tell you, it's worth every moment. This week on The Big Talk podcast, we're talking all about the power of using your story to create visibility and to amplify your voice. For this episode, I'm joined by the amazing and always fashionable, Jane Tabachnick.  Jane is an award-winning digital public relations and marketing strategist and mentor. She is a former fashion designer. And she is also the founder of Simply Good Press, a book publishing firm. She brings 15 years of experience working with changemakers to help them create greater visibility and buzz which helps them easily attract and close more of their ideal customers. We start our conversation diving into Jane's backstory as a self-proclaimed recovering fashion designer. She loved the world of fashion design. And she also realized that a part of her role as the designer and business owner was to pitch the story of her designs and run PR for her design house. The clothes told their own visual story, and the media wanted a story told to them with words that they could share with their audience. Eventually, Jane discovered that she loved storytelling more than fashion. And since leaving the fashion business, she has begun helping other entrepreneurs and brands tell their stories more successfully. In this episode, we'll explore: The power of using your voice for publicity in your business — because yes, being a speaker is also a business Why your mindset matters when it comes to be featured in the media Crafting your story pitch to stand out and researching the places you want to be featured How and when to follow up with a pitch Jane's current favorites — Book: Rebecca, Speaker: Brené Brown, and Podcast: How I Built This More from Jane Website: https://janetabachnick.com/  Take Her Free Visibility Assessment: https://janetabachnick.com/assessment/  Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/jmtabachnick/  LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/janetabachnick/  Twitter: https://twitter.com/janetabachnick  More from Tricia  Consistently Share Your Big Idea with Secrets of The Big Talk Order my book, The Influential Voice: Saying What You Mean for Lasting Legacy Join The Big Talk Membership Community  Download my FREE Ebook: 7 Step Formula for Fearless Speaking  Explore my content and follow me on YouTube Follow me on Instagram  Connect with me on Facebook  Connect with me on LinkedIn  Visit my website at TriciaBrouk.com

If change has been happening all around you and you’ve been struggling or scared to pivot your business to keep up and grow, then you’re absolutely going to love this episode! In it I chat with one of our amazing members from the Members’ Club, Jane Middlehurst! Jane is the co-founder of HomeNotes, an online community that helps and supports people through their home renovation process. Along with her business partner Amy, Jane has been running her own architectural practice for over seven years. But after both founders having children and with Amy deciding to relocate to another country, they realised they needed to shake up the business model to fit their family lives and the fact that they were now going to run the business from different countries. That’s when Jane joined the Members’ Club, which she says opened her eyes to all sorts of learning and business strategies she never thought of before. Jane wanted to build a business that would make an impact, allow them to scale and share their message and services on a bigger scale, and that’s exactly what they are achieving with HomeNotes. In this podcast, Jane and I chat all about: How Jane and Amy took the leap and started an architectural practice together seven years ago. How they have both juggled a thriving business, a growing family and unexpected changes. How the idea for HomeNotes came about and how they transitioned from having a traditional architectural practice to building an online business, a social media following and a membership site. The challenges they have faced throughout their journey over the past 18 months to build this online business, which they are launching very soon. The key social media platforms they have been focusing on to grow their audience and the way they’re using social media to develop their message and their strategy. How partnerships and collaborations have been playing a key part. Jane’s top tip for success is: The importance of self-belief, which she says is what will get you through all the hurdles, the ups and downs, and those times when you feel totally stuck. Having the belief that it’s possible for you is what keeps you going! Find out more or connect with Jane Website: www.homenotes.co Instagram: @wearehomenotes
