Easily one of the topics we researched the most while pregnant! If you are anything like us and had next to no idea about c-sections, then this is the episode to listen to! Siao shares it all, unfiltered, real, and informative. If you are anticipating a vaginal birth and are unsure of what to expect, Ina lays it all out for you. With each of us experiencing L&D differently, we share things we'd learned about the whole process from both scenarios. This is the episode to share with all the mamas-to-be, even if she's given birth before. Every birth story is unique & you never know which way it is going to go, so why not be prepared for each scenario!?What was one thing you are/were super nervous about for labour & delivery? So much energy is put into researching how baby is developing, do's & don'ts of pregnancy, how to announce you're expecting on social media in the cutest way possible. What often gets forgotten in the mix is to research or share with the mom-to-be all of the possible changes that will be happening to her physically and mentally during pregnancy. We often forget to give the mama-to-be tools in her toolbox to help advocate for herself with her physician, to remain calm in times where she is most outside of her comfort zone, and even to give her comfort without coming off as a "know-it-all".Share this episode with all of the mamas-to-be & women who might be considering having a baby. It's one of those conversations with girlfriends that leave you feeling empowered, informed, and not at all exhausted because we did the leg work for you! What was the most unexpected thing you've experienced/heard about in pregnancy? Let us know on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/momlifethepodcast/
Do you ever look at your husband and think "damn, I wish I was a dad"?Traditional gender roles don't quite hold as much space as they used to so why are we still looking at dads as being the secondary parent? Why are moms shown less grace when it comes to average parenting "mishaps" when compared to dads? We only manage to scratch the surface of a conversation that needs to be had as a society. Dads are the parent too. Full stop.
Dr. William Chin along with his wife Amanda sat down with us (virtually) to chat about all the key info when it comes to taking care of our children's teeth from babyhood & beyond. If you are like us and have all the questions about how a dental visit will look for your kiddo, or if you should be flossing their teeth, or if they are capable of brushing their teeth independently at their age, then this is the episode to save and reference over time as your child grows. What are some parent tricks and hacks that have worked to get your kids to brush their teeth? Let us know on Instagram & join our conversation : https://www.instagram.com/momlifethepodcast/

Relationships are ever evolving - from dating, to being engaged, to being newlyweds, to becoming new parents (not necessarily in that order). But arguably, becoming parents for the first time is the biggest change that a couple will ever go through. During this season of drastic change, there is, generally speaking, one parent that takes on more responsibility when it comes to the child(ren). Being that parent can be very overwhelming to put it lightly. We discuss ways we ensure our homes and family are happy by working with our partners on ensuring they maintain a level on involvement we are both happy with. Have you found success in balancing workloads after having kids? Share your secrets to success with us by joining the convo on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/momlifethepodcast/
The P word! Seems like such a daunting task - and for some it is. It can be a long process or it can be a skill your kiddo takes to very quickly. Our kids are POLAR OPPOSITES when it comes to potty training. While we both introduced our kids to the potty at a young age (9 months & 12 months), their journeys have proven to be quite unique. If you are about to embark on the potty training journey, this is definitely the episode for you! We share the different methods of training - find out which one is right for your family ; what has worked for us; and what hasn't worked. What are some of your potty training tips? With most people still working from home and everyone being home all day long, alone time can be very hard to come by. Before we were moms we would have crazy 10 step skin care routines, take time for a bubble bath, always had polished nails, just vegged out on the couch and scrolled through our phones. But these days things look a tad bit different. Our husbands get thrown off when our skin care takes a little bit longer to do, bubble baths are a nap time thing where you send out a hope and prayer they don't wake up, going to the bathroom alone is an unheard of luxury. Yeah, different. All this to say we are both slowly finding more time to toss in a self-care/downtime activity in our toddler mom routines. What is your favorite thing to do when you have a minute to yourself? Let us know on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/momlifethepodcast/
Whether you love it or hate it, we all have to cook meals for our families - at least at some point or another. We share some quick and easy go-to meals in hopes of giving you some recipe inspo you can add to your repertoire! Even though Siao is a vegetarian, she has been trying her hand at cooking meats to satisfy Eyla's selective toddler palette. If you are veg, listen up because she shares how she navigates preparing meat. As for Ina & her busy family, crockpot meals are key. She's got the lowdown on preparing meals full of protein and veg that even the pickiest eater will enjoy! Who is the primary cook in your family? Share your fave family meal with us!
Toddler life is a life like no other.Between their personalities shining bright, rapid development of new skills, and, of course, pallets evolving - feeding our toddlers has proven to be a rollercoaster ride. Since the onset of our food journeys, we have learned a few tricks along the way to encourage our toddlers to eat balanced meals. Eyla and Finn's eating habits are quite different, making our insights and outlook on food different as well. Which one of our scenarios do you most relate with? The present narrative circulating in the North American baby world is that it is safe to sleep train from about 4 months+ of age in order to teach baby to self soothe and sleep well, and parents can get the much needed rest. Parents are encouraged to room share at least until 6 months of age. The narrative in a number of other countries is: co-sleep, bedshare, room share for as long as possible & until it stops being manageable for the family, rock your baby to sleep, nurse your baby to sleep, do these things so that your child feels safe and everyone sleeps well. Two very different techniques. Two very different ways of looking at sleep. Two very interesting points of view, yet neither is the wrong one so long as it works for your family. We chat with Lisa from Primal Baby Sleep, a baby-led sleep specialist and proponent of attachment-based and responsive parenting. Lisa gives us insight into safe bedsharing 7 co-sleeping techniques & distinct differences between the two. She also shares how to gently ween toddlers off of night feeds so as to maintain a daytime supply. If you are wondering about a different perspective on baby sleep and are looking for an alternative to sleep training, this episode is for you. Did you ever put baby in your bed to sleep? Should I go back to work? How will my family routine change? Who will take care of the kids while I work & will they do a good enough job?Who will drop the kids off? Will it always be my sole responsibility? Who takes time off of work when the kids get sick? Am I really going to leave my career I've worked so hard for to be a stay-at-home-mom? What requires my attention right now - my family or my career? So. Many. Questions. Yet, no simple answers. Life is just one great big balancing act. As a mom it either overwhelms you completely or you learn that you just can't do it all at 100% capacity. This week we chat about how we chose the paths that we did and why it was in the best interest of our families. What was the catalyst that drove you to choose either career or being a stay at home parent? Join our convo on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/momlifethepodcast/
Our guest, Mallory of Mindfully Mallory, gives us coaching insight into bringing mindfulness to different facets of life. Because there is just so much to cover, we continue our chat about postpartum body image. Pregnancy brings on so many changes to our bodies, but postpartum bodies are next level. Hormonal levels stay high for a very long time. The key thing to remember is that it took your body 9 months to create a living being, give your body the grace and space it deserves to become yours again. Even though we are aware of all of the inevitable changes, social media portrays a "bounce back" culture that is quite toxic. We chat about how we are trying our best to get used to rocking these new mom bods in the healthiest way possible while navigating being millennial moms. Join our chat on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/momlifethepodcast/
Mom bods come in all shapes and sizes. Some are squishier than others. Some are leaner than others. But what they all have in common is the fact that they created, nurtured, and birthed real live human beings! Being hard on yourself and the way your body looks seems to be a way of the past. Women are starting to make space for, and embrace body positivity. BUT there is also a third perspective - body neutrality. Being body neutral gives you the opportunity to give your body the grace and space it deserves for bringing you to the point it did while not necessarily feeling one way or another about it. Having a baby changes so many things and our bodies are no exception. In this episode we discuss all of the changes we've personally experienced as our bodies went from pregnant to postpartum and some we've heard about. What was the biggest change your body went through postpartum? What are some postpartum body myths you've heard of? Join our convo on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/momlifethepodcast/?hl=en
Our minds and eyes were opened during our conversation with Seema, an Orofacial Myologist. Seema comes to the table with a wealth of knowledge and the desire to share how important a clear and healthy airway is for numerous developmental reasons. To name a few, thumb sucking during sleep can be a way to keep the tongue in proper position to keep the airway clear; if babies are snoring, they should be seen by a doctor as it is likely a sign of something being amiss; children who are under-slept can present ADHD symptoms; tongue ties and lip ties are best corrected during infancy but go missed in many cases. In this episode you will learn about what signs to look for if you, your child, or someone you know could benefit from Orofacial Therapy. Seema also shares what products to stay away from and/or use in order to prevent needing the therapies. There are many resources available to parents and caregivers in order to help their kids with global development, and as parents we are our child's best advocate. This episode gives you one more tool in your parental toolbox for raising the healthiest and happiest kiddo. Join our conversation on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/momlifethepodcast/
New season. new happenings! We got together to chat about what is the latest and greatest in our lives. With restrictions lifting, it seems like summer has been super busy and has just flown by. With so much happening these days we needed a moment to catch up. So here's what's up! Siao gives us an update on Eyla's eczema journey, while Ina is reporting live from an interesting location. In Canada, most women have the option to take 12 months of maternity leave. With both babes turning one within a month of each other, returning to work is at the forefront of our thoughts. Finley & Eyla showed us that despite being "pandemic babies" their social skills have not been affected *phew*. And even though we're millennials, we just can't let Gen Z put us in a corner! What is something beautiful you've had a chance to experience recently?
As parents, we tend to worry about all of the big and little things when it comes to our child's development. Waiting for those first words to be spoken is no different. We sat down - virtually - with Jenn, a Speech and Language Pathologist/Teacher. She gave us some incredible insight into what concerning flags to look for and when to seek speech help; whether genetic factors play a role in speech delays; should we teach one language at a time; and lots more in a quick 60 minutes! Did you have concerns regarding speech development with your little? Share your story!
Summer is here which means road trips trials and tribulations are upon us! Are you nervous to take your kids on the road? We were too! But we're here to say that it really isn't all that bad so long as you are prepared with some tricks up your sleeve. Siao & Ina share some insights into what worked well for each of their vacations. Their destination may have been the same but that's about where the similarities end. If you're needing some helpful tips for your next vacation, this is the episode for you. Where are you headed this summer?
As moms we are the household snack maker, clothes folder, dish washer, kid trampoline, boss babe, loving wife, the list goes on. More often than not, we put ourselves last. We put our needs for self-care and self-love at the bottom of the list. One incredible way show our overworked bodies the love they deserve is to build strength and endurance through functional exercise. Working out can be such a daunting task. Working out can be so overwhelming. Working out can be hard. But working out can also create such a positive self-image, increase in energy, and ability to attend to the demands of being a mom.Where to begin? How to begin? I don't have a minute to myself let alone an hour to exercise!!! Our guest, Kellie from Fit Your Life, gives us the best advice on how to actually go about incorporating exercise into our routines as busy moms. She comes from a place of expertise with being a mom of two girls, labor and delivery nurse, fitness coach, and business owner of FYL. Kellie talks pregnancy fitness and how it sets you up for labor and delivery, where to begin with fitness, and why a focus on pelvic floor health is so important pre and postpartum. Have you been successful with incorporating exercise into your routine or are you looking to add it to your repertoire? Let us know on our Instagram page:
Two very special guests join the conversation to share their perspective on all things dad.Cayce and Gurkan - our husbands - don't hold back when they dish out what pandemic parenting looks like to them, how they tolerated us during the pregnancy stage, and what's surprised them along the way. Send this episode to your partner ... trust us you'll be thankful you did ;) We are so grateful for "the dads" and all the love and support they've shown us in this journey - Happy first Father's Day, gents!

In this episode we share all of our newly acquired poop knowledge and spare no details. Because poop and teething are linked, we also chat about how to relieve your babe's teething discomfort in hopes of everyone getting a decent sleep!
Tia the doula has taken some time to talk to us about all things doula! We find out what exactly is a doula, how they aide parents during labor, and how they can support you in your post-natal journey. Siao, like many moms who birthed via c-section, is hoping for a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After C-Section) if/when the time comes for a second baby. Tia shares information regarding VBAC and the most recent data, why VBACs seem to be so controversial, and whether there is anything you can do to prepare your body for a VBAC. The conversation was flowing and Tia was doing her thing - we just couldn't limit it to one hour!Did you have a doula supporting you at your birth? As if being a new mom isn't stressful enough, throw in renos and moving to spice things up! Sometimes life throws extra curve balls such as needing to renovate a home (or 2 in Siao's case) or needing to move. While it is incredibly challenging there is always a silver lining and always a learn and grow opportunity from every experience. Siao shares how she's been coping with the double reno, how she's made adaptations for Eyla during this challenging time, and of course sleep is brought up a time or two. But ... life isn't all about learning and growing. Sometimes you just need a good show to binge when you have a moment to yourself. We share our latest show obsessions - one of us is team Crishelle while the other is team Christine. Share your stories with us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/momlifethepodcast/
There truly is no hood like motherhood but it seems like there are many things we forget to share with each other! For instance, sleep or lack thereof can be a constant thing; maternal mental load is very real; and who knew clogged milk ducts are a potential problem throughout and even after you're done breastfeeding?! Siao & Ina share all of the mind-blowing and eye-opening anecdotes they've had to learn along the way. What is something that surprised you after you became a parent? Often times things that we expect to happen don't always pan out that way. Having a baby at the hospital is no different. Delivering a baby is romanticized in movies and tv shows, but we get into some nitty gritty details Hollywood doesn't tell you about. Covid-19 has definitely made some of our plans and expectations pivot in a completely different direction. How has the pandemic affected your plans? What was your expectation vs. reality scenario for hospital delivery?
By happenstance, both of us are in mixed marriages - we are of different heritage from our husbands. Living in Canada provides an amazing opportunity to meet people of all walks of life but when you make that person your partner, it tends to come with some very important negotiations and compromises. We discuss how we've navigated such crucial topics as religion, expectations, personal beliefs, etc. How did you navigate your marital/partnership compromises? Being a mom isn't always about perfect Instagram posts and having it all together all the time. Having children changes absolutely everything and that can be difficult to navigate for even the most adaptable individuals. For some, hormones have wreaked havoc on their bodies and manifested into such things at Post Partum Depression, Anxiety, and Intrusive Thoughts - just to name a few. While breaking the stigma of mental illness is making a mark on our society, we are still so far from being okay with helping moms feel safe to talk openly about their postpartum mental health journey. We share our postpartum realness and open up a safe space for dialogue to take place between us girls. Ina's dog, Fritz. also chimed in briefly .... In addition, we have a very special Mompreneur feature! Who were you before you became a mom? What were your hobbies? How did your land your job?
