Everyone keeps asking the same question: Is hotel development slowing down? The global numbers say something very different — and far more nuanced. I checked in with Bruce Ford of Lodging Econometrics for a worldwide pipeline update that cuts through assumptions and looks at what's really happening across regions, segments, and timelines. On #NoVacancyNews, Bruce explains why room counts remain historically high, why developers deliberately push openings into later years, and why renovations and conversions now matter as much as ground-up construction. This conversation focuses less on hype and more on how capital actually behaves when markets tighten. A big thanks to Actabl — Actabl gives you the power to profit. Visit Actabl.com. Temple University’s Kornberg School of Dentistry is looking to open its rural dental education center and clinic at the site of a former Rite Aid in downtown Tamaqua. Temple has partnered with the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership on the project. The center awaits approval by the Temple University Board of Trustees. The proposed center would have 24 chairs and will host 20 dental students on the rural dentistry track. Dental students will complete the final two years of dental school at the Tamaqua campus and provide dental services to residents of Schuylkill, Carbon and Luzerne counties. Students will live in downtown Tamaqua, in an old department store that will be renovated into apartments. Temple told WVIA earlier this year that the dental school will cover students’ housing costs, which will be financially supported by tuition. The clinic also is expected to create about 20 new jobs. Temple’s dentistry school also started discussions with Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) about a dental hygiene program that will train six to 10 students. Argall chaired a public hearing through the Senate Majority Policy Committee about dental care shortages in rural Pennsylvania. Renovations on both the education center and student housing are expected to begin before the end of this year. Supporters have pointed to potential economic benefits such as construction jobs. And Constellation has said the plant will help offset data centers’ demand on the power grid. A company representative also says the taxpayer-backed loan will be repaid with full interest. It’s being financed through the Trump administration’s Energy Dominance Financing Program focused on expanding the country’s energy infrastructure for the Artificial Intelligence industry. Break 1: STRAND THEATRE STORY 1: Lawmakers consider paring tax credits and exemptions to offset income tax cuts  Georgia lawmakers are seriously considering wiping out the state income tax—$16 billion in revenue—and replacing it by slashing $30 billion in tax credits and exemptions. “It’s not if, it’s when,” said Sen. Blake Tillery, who’s leading the charge. He called it a move for “competitiveness.” Supporters like economist Arthur Laffer praised states like Tennessee for thriving without income taxes, calling it “really cool” not to file returns. But critics, like Sen. Nan Orrock, warned it could hit low-income families and retirees hardest, especially if sales taxes rise. The debate? Far from settled. STORY 2: Piedmont Eastside and Piedmont Oncology welcome medical oncologist Sami Ali  Piedmont Eastside Medical Center and Piedmont Oncology are thrilled to welcome Dr. Sami Ali to their team. Dr. Ali, a board-certified hematologist and oncologist, brings years of experience treating patients with lung cancer, colorectal cancer, blood disorders, and more. Before joining Piedmont, Dr. Ali spent eight years at The Oncology Institute in Los Angeles, where he provided personalized care, led treatment plans, and contributed to clinical research. “We’re excited to have him,” said Larry Ebert, Piedmont Eastside’s CEO. “His expertise will help us expand cancer care in Gwinnett County.” Dr. Ali is now accepting new patients. For appointments, visit Piedmont.org or call 678-639-3950. STORY 3: Gwinnett commissioners to issue bonds for Gas South Arena renovations   Gwinnett County commissioners took a big step Tuesday toward funding a major facelift for the 23-year-old Gas South Arena. The plan? Revenue bonds—up to $172 million worth—to cover renovations like new seating, upgraded security, better concessions, and even a shiny new parking deck. The total cost? Somewhere between $170 and $176 million. The county might chip in $40 million to ease the debt load, according to Financial Services Director Russell Royal. What’s changing? Think premium seating, revamped suites, modernized restrooms, grab-and-go food, and a high-tech security plaza. Oh, and the roof, HVAC, and electrical systems? All getting replaced. From Nov. 10, students and staff dove into 14 events—everything from global traditions to study-abroad opportunities. The highlight? A visit from Lithuania’s Consul General, DOH-vee-dahs Dovydas shpo-KOW-skas Špokauskas, who spoke on diplomacy and security, thanks to professor DOH-vee-leh Dovilė boo-DREE-teh Budryte. Korean culture stole the show at Seoul Connections, with K-Pop, snacks, and games filling the room. And the International Thanksgiving? A feast of global flavors, live music, and a cultural fashion show. The week wrapped with poetry, music, and a reminder: the world’s waiting—go explore it. STORY 5: Gwinnett waiving tax penalties for residents impacted by government shutdown Gwinnett County is throwing a lifeline to residents hit hard by the recent federal shutdown. On Tuesday, commissioners gave Tax Commissioner Denise Mitchell the green light to waive penalties and interest on late ad valorem taxes for those furloughed or who lost SNAP benefits during the chaos. “Georgia law lets me waive penalties for reasonable cause,” Mitchell explained. “And over the past few weeks, I’ve heard from residents struggling to pay their bills because of the shutdown.” This doesn’t erase the taxes—just the late fees. To qualify, folks need proof of furlough or lost benefits, and the waiver only covers bills due during or shortly after the shutdown. We’ll be right back. Exploring the grand tapestry of St. Louis history, the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis emerges not just as a sacred space but as a monument to time itself. Our conversation with John C. Guenther dives into the architectural marvel that is the Cathedral Basilica, weaving through its 352-year history—from its early log church days in 1770 to the stunning mosaics that now grace its walls. We reminisce about the old cathedral, which was built in the early 19th century, and how it all ties into the rich narrative of St. Louis's founding. Did you know that the Cathedral Basilica boasts the largest collection of glass mosaics in the Western Hemisphere? That's right! With over 83,000 square feet covered in vivid colors and intricate designs, it's a visual feast that tells the story of faith and community. John shares the creative process behind the mosaics, revealing how artisans captured the light with their craftsmanship, making each piece of glass come alive in a dance of brilliance. This isn't just architecture; it's a living, breathing story that continues to unfold with every visitor who steps inside. We reveal the significance of the Cathedral Basilica being a pilgrimage site and a testament to the faith of the people of St. Louis. John passionately recounts how the Basilica was designed to bring heaven to earth, a sentiment echoed in the stunning architecture and the historical events that have taken place within its walls. This episode isn't just about bricks and mortar; it's about the heart of a city, the stories of its people, and the enduring spirit that has shaped St. Louis.[00:00] Introduction to St. Louis in Tune[00:39] Weather Talk and Show Introduction[01:24] Guest Introduction: John Gunther[04:31] History of the Old Cathedral[06:08] The New Cathedral and Its Significance[21:15] The Mosaics of the Cathedral Basilica[27:06] Creating the Mosaics: An Artistic Journey[30:17] The Mosaic Installation Process[31:44] The Artists Behind the Mosaics[33:53] Architectural Marvels and Comparisons[37:36] Renovations and Maintenance[41:11] Historical Anecdotes and Personal Stories[46:55] Upcoming Events and Final ThoughtsTakeaways:The Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis is a masterpiece that took years to create, and it showcases 83,000 square feet of stunning mosaics that truly leave you in awe. Did you know that the old cathedral is actually the only piece of property that has remained under the same ownership since the founding of St. Louis? Talk about history! John C. Gunther's new book dives deep into 138 key moments in the cathedral's development, intertwining the history of St. Louis with the architectural marvel itself. The cathedral's mosaics are made of 41.5 million pieces of glass and come in 7,000 shades of color, making it the largest collection of mosaics in the Western Hemisphere! Archbishop Glennon's vision for the cathedral combined Romanesque and Byzantine styles, which is a unique architectural blend not commonly seen in America. The process of creating these mosaics is nothing short of miraculous, involving thousands of individual pieces carefully placed to catch the light just right, turning the interior into a sparkling wonderland. The federal shutdown is set to extend past the one month mark. The longer the shutdown goes, the more Americans could feel its impact. The Department of Agriculture announced that it would not use emergency funding to keep supplying the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) - also known as food stamps - after November 1st. Halting SNAP payments would affect more than 40 million Americans. Many federal workers, including air traffic controllers, are working without pay while the shutdown battle continues. With the holiday season approaching, airline travel could take a major hit. Will these economic pressure points jolt Congress into action? Construction on a new grand ballroom at the White House has begun. Renovations at the ‘People's House' are nothing new. So why has the demolition and remodel of the East Wing drawn so much attention? One factor could be the stream of private donations funding the project. KCRW discusses how those payments and the access that comes with them puts one of Washington's biggest problems on display.New York City's mayoral race hits the ballot next week, along with a number of elections across the country. We'll discuss what to watch for as a precursor to next year's midterms, and answer one listener's question about the future of the Voting Rights Act.

So she came to France to look at properties. At first, it felt like a fun adventure. But then she walked into a large maison de maître near Agen. Mollie Hemingway, Editor-in-Chief at The Federalist and Fox News Contributor, joined The Guy Benson Show today to discuss the Democrats' meltdown over President Trump's White House remodeling, despite the fact that previous remodeling efforts have happened over the White House's history. Hemingway and Benson also noted that the redesign the elegant overhaul is privately funded, not taxpayer-financed. Hemingway explained why the redesign was needed, noting how cramped and outdated parts of the building had become. She also weighed in on a disturbing new "ICE tracker" project from the left that publicly exposes the locations of federal immigration agents, even as attacks against ICE personnel have already turned deadly. Finally, Benson and Hemingway reacted to Nancy Pelosi's shocking claim that local police may have the authority to cuff federal agents enforcing immigration law. Listen to the full interview below! Today I talk with Skyler Vaughn, cofounder of For The Love Of Upstate. You'll remember his partner Madi Johnson from episodes 96 and 156, and after having her on the show twice, it was finally time I convinced Skyler to join. Skyler is incredible when it comes to project management, and this skill is how FTLOU is able to crank out 6-7 property renovations per year, and is on track for 10-12 next year!  If you, like me, are the kind of investor who gets all excited at the Pinterest moodboard phase, but then cries multiple times during a project wondering why you subjected yourself to this torture, you will be fascinated by Skyler's ability to manage so many tasks at so many different projects all at the same time and make it look so effortless. Skyler shares with us the exact project management tools he uses, his SOPs, how he builds his team to get the job done, and his timelines for each project.
