What did your father teach you? And what did you have to figure out on your own because he wasn't there to teach it?In this raw and personal episode, Dijon Anderson sits with a question he put to his social media community and the responses that stopped him in his tracks. Men and women opened up about the lessons they never received about money, emotions, relationships, and simply being present, and what it cost them to learn those things the hard way.Drawing on listener responses, two powerful books: Tony Evans' Kingdom Man and Richard Reeves' Of Boys and Men — and peer-reviewed research on fatherhood, intergenerational transmission, and adverse childhood experiences, this episode moves through grief and into action. This episode is for every man and woman who has ever tried to give his children what he was never given. It's for every father who is building a blueprint in real time. And it's for every person still healing from a gap that was never supposed to be there.BOOKS REFERENCEDKingdom Man — Tony Evans (2012)Evans challenges men to understand their God-given role not as a position of power, but as a responsibility of stewardship over themselves, their families, their communities. And in the long gray hours after, the thing Nora has spent weeks refusing finally comes apart — she isn't forecasting these losses. She's authoring them in her sleep, and each wish quietly takes the truest part of whatever she wished for. Which is why the dreams she's just started having about Theo terrify her most of all.Episode 2 of the ongoing Wishful arc. She spent her whole life believing she was the one being rained on. Episode 129 | Are We the Person We Wished to Be?At some point, most of us imagined a future version of ourselves—more disciplined, more confident, more courageous, more whole. But somewhere between responsibility, disappointment, routine, and survival, that vision can get blurry. In this episode, I reflect on the gap between who we once hoped to become and who we are right now, not from a place of shame, but from honesty. This is a conversation about identity, drift, self-betrayal, growth, and what it means to return to the person you know you're capable of becoming.

In this episode, Nick and Amy dive into a simple but powerful question: are couples wishing more for a better marriage instead of actually doing the things that build one? After surveying married couples, the answers revealed something surprisingly consistent about what people feel is missing in their relationships.Husbands and wives shared a desire for more emotional connection, quality time, appreciation, less screen distraction, and feeling more prioritized. These aren't complicated needs—they're the everyday things that often get lost in the busyness of work, kids, and life responsibilities. What stood out most is that many of these desires aren't out of reach. They don't require a different spouse or a different season of life. They come down to small, intentional choices—how we communicate, how we show up, and what we prioritize when life gets full.In today's conversation, Nick and Amy go through real survey responses and talk about what they actually look like in marriage. On the afternoon of August 6, 1848, the HMS Daedalus was cutting through the gray waters of the south Atlantic when something surfaced alongside the ship — something enormous, something alive, and something that no man aboard had ever seen before. The officers who witnessed it were not excitable young sailors prone to ghost stories. They were Royal Navy men, educated and disciplined, with careers and reputations built on precision and credibility. Yet every one of them would go on record to describe the same thing: a massive serpentine creature moving through the open ocean as though it owned it. What followed their report would shake the British Admiralty, ignite a media firestorm across Victorian England, and launch a debate that has never been fully resolved.FEATURED STORIES IN THIS EPISODE: On August 6th, 1848 the crew of the HMS Daedalus spotted something monstrous from the deep – and it has become the most well-documented sea serpent sighting in history. (The HMS Daedalus Sea Monster) *** A notorious criminal is brought to justice, and later found to have just as notorious of a brain. (Hanging of a Notorious Brain) *** A burst of UFO activity took place on New Year's Eve outside of New York in 1982… so many sightings and reports it was impossible to ignore, even by skeptics. (The Hudson Valley Flap) *** A social experiment initiated by Stalin's Soviet Union ends with hundreds dead on the first day – but that was only the beginning of the horrors of what would later be known as “Cannibal Island”. (Joseph Stalin's Cannibal Island) *** A woman is involved in an accident, and once out of the hospital everyone appears to be afraid upon looking at her face… even her. But it's not the scars that are causing terror. (The Reflection That Drove To Death) *** One day in 1863 Doctor Joseph Rogers found himself dealing with a very distressing case. A young pregnant woman had been sent to a workhouse because her circumstances were so dire. Her name was Sarah Ann Eldridge, and her husband, Alfred Eldridge, was in prison waiting to be executed. They were driving through the snow on Christmas Eve, tired, cold, and miles from anywhere familiar. The road was dark, the trees unlit, and the snowfall just heavy enough to make every mile feel uncertain. When the car stalled in the middle of a remote stretch of highway, it didn't feel dramatic—it felt final. No cell service. No passing traffic. No footprints or tire tracks in the snow. Just silence. Then headlights appeared where none should have been. A stranger stopped. Said the right things. Fixed a problem that shouldn't have been fixable. Refused money. Wished them a safe trip home for Christmas—and vanished back into the dark. Moments later, the road no longer looked the same. Years later, details about that night still don't add up. The traffic that suddenly appeared. The mechanical failure returned the next morning. The timing was just a little too perfect. So who really stopped to help them that night… and why?  #trueghoststory #realghoststories #christmasparanormal #guardianangelstory #unexplainedencounter #paranormalpodcast #holidaymystery #trueparanormal #christmaseve #supernaturalstories Love real ghost stories? Some days, family life feels more like chaos than connection, doesn’t it? There are dishes in the sink, sharp words we wish we could take back, kids who don’t always get along, and moments where we wonder, Is this really what a 'strong family' is supposed to look like? If you’ve ever felt that tension, this week’s episode of The Love Offering Podcast is especially for you. I’m talking with Jessica Smartt about her new book, Come On Home, and her message is such a relief: your family doesn’t have to be perfect to be strong. A strong family isn’t built on flawless behavior, matching outfits, or a constantly peaceful home. It’s formed in the ordinary, imperfect moments—apologies after arguments, prayers whispered in the hallway, small traditions that make your people feel seen and safe, and a steady love that says, “You belong here, no matter what.” If you’ve ever: Wished your home felt more like a haven than a battleground Wondered if it’s “too late” to change the culture of your family Carried guilt over what hasn’t gone the way you hoped Jessica’s words will encourage you. In our conversation, she shares: Thirteen foundational traits that help families grow strong in real life, not ideal life Honest stories from her own family and from other families with all kinds of backgrounds Practical ideas for building a connection between siblings and creating a home your kids want to come back to Hope for breaking unhealthy family patterns and offering your children a new legacy of faith and grace What I love most is Jessica’s reminder that God is at work in the middle of the mess. The disappointments, the conflicts, the things you wish you could redo—He can use all of it. Your faithfulness today, even in small ways, can ripple into future generations. Friend, it’s not too late. Not too late to start praying more intentionally for your family. Not too late to repair a strained relationship. Not too late to create rhythms that make your home gentle, welcoming, and full of grace. Your family doesn’t need you to be perfect—just present, prayerful, and willing to keep loving. I hope this episode feels like a warm, “me too,” and a gentle nudge to keep going. Xi Jinping wrote to his father, listing qualities he wished to emulate: never persecuting people and never losing faith in the cause. The suffering endured often rededicated communists to the party. Xi Jinping once told Prime Minister Abe that if he were American, he would join the Republicans or Democrats, not the Communist Party. This comment suggested to Abe that Xi Jinping is primarily a nationalist focused on power and using communism for China's rejuvenation, driven by a deep fear of chaos. In this episode, Chandler shares 5 pieces of wisdom that stood out – including a personal piece of advice from Stacy Blackman, our founder.   Some of these lessons are narrowly focused on applying to business school. Some lessons are about making the most of the magical period of time you are actually *in* business school. And some lessons center the many years that come after… as you use what you have learned to build a life that is hopefully full of meaning, joy, and impact. Whether you are applying to business school, in business school, or working as a professional post business school – this is a very special episode not to be missed.
