In this episode, we have Lauren Kesner, the host of “The Fit Mom Podcast.” She inspires women to live their healthiest, happiest lives by giving them clear, effective guidance. Lauren discusses five general behaviors of fit moms or fits people that make losing weight simple.Losing Weight[5:17]Lauren thinks losing weight should be simple. When you set yourself up to have external variables affect your progress, folks neglect or prioritize duties over others when you can't make it to those classes. Plan your health and fitness so that it can run in the background and is simple for you to achieve.Starting point[7:29]Lauren gives two contrasting examples of herself on her weight-loss journey over the years. Her first example was knowing what she was doing and her goals but not losing her desired weight. The other was her implementing a few positive behaviors and seeing immediate results. Lauren recognizes that many people wish to lose weight in drastic ways right away.Recommendations[11:10]Lauren's method for reducing weight is to simplify things. Her advice is to do the following three things: exercise more, eat less, and optimize something, whether it's your sleep or treating your stress.[12:25]Once established, recurring activities that require minimal effort can make a big difference. Lauren has offered people habits to remember to create their modest repetitive activities, such as avoiding fast food, consuming zero-calorie beverages, going for a daily walk, taking the stairs instead of an elevator, and eating at home most nights of the week. You can also follow Lauren on her socials:Apple Podcast | InstagramLearn more about coaching opportunities Grab the FREE 7 Simple Food Swaps GuideSubscribe to the show and listen to more episodes on Apple Podcasts or Spotify

As moms we are the household snack maker, clothes folder, dish washer, kid trampoline, boss babe, loving wife, the list goes on. More often than not, we put ourselves last. We put our needs for self-care and self-love at the bottom of the list. One incredible way show our overworked bodies the love they deserve is to build strength and endurance through functional exercise. Working out can be such a daunting task. Working out can be so overwhelming. Working out can be hard. But working out can also create such a positive self-image, increase in energy, and ability to attend to the demands of being a mom.Where to begin? How to begin? I don't have a minute to myself let alone an hour to exercise!!! Our guest, Kellie from Fit Your Life, gives us the best advice on how to actually go about incorporating exercise into our routines as busy moms. She comes from a place of expertise with being a mom of two girls, labor and delivery nurse, fitness coach, and business owner of FYL. Kellie talks pregnancy fitness and how it sets you up for labor and delivery, where to begin with fitness, and why a focus on pelvic floor health is so important pre and postpartum. Have you been successful with incorporating exercise into your routine or are you looking to add it to your repertoire? Let us know on our Instagram page:

I learned a lot of new vocabulary words from Arlene Santiago, including "Motor Control Restoration" and "proprioception"—and you know I love new words! Join us as we discuss what they mean—and detour to talk about hydration, butterbeer ice cream, what it feels like when you find your calling, and why sometimes it's so important to listen to that little voice in your head. bio Arlene Santiago is a Health Transformation Coach, best-selling author, and mom of three. She helps busy moms lose up to 30lbs, increase their energy and confidence and keep the weight off after 6 months. Arlene also helps those older than age 50 who want to prevent injury and improve balance and mobility. As a Motor Control Restoration Specialist, she seeks to improve communication between brain and body by identifying underlying causes for improper movement (functional compensations) by focusing on the nervous system to identify any blocked sensorimotor signals. resources Visit Arlene's website Join Arlene's Facebook Group, Healthy and Fit Moms 4 Life Read about Arlene in Disrupt's "10 Female Leaders Disrupting Their Industries in 2021" Join the Meal Planning Made Simple challenge in April 2021! In this episode I interview a longtime FF client, Kathy Hradowsky. Kathy attended our group Boot Camp classes back in 2013 and worked with us until she moved out of state in 2016. We reconnected for Online Coaching in March 2020. Since then, Kathy has dropped over 35 LB, lost 15 inches and increased her strength substantially. She shares details about how she approaches her training at home, what it's like to be a busy Mom with a goal of getting in shape and how she stays accountable. Enjoy!
During Episode 2, I interview Brianna Battles, the Founder of Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism. We chat about Top Issues seen during Pregnancy and Postpartum. As well as what she likes to call "Athlete Brain." With an over saturation of Fit Moms talking about Diastasis Recti, but not really giving solid information on how to heal from it, or if it is even a bad thing, Brianna gives us the 411 and sets the record straight once and for all.Podcast Highlights:2:02 - Fit Pregnancy Culture4:30 - Diastasis Recti9:17 - The hits our Bodies take Postpartum10:05 - Athlete Brain16:16 - Top Issues when working with Women during Pregnancy20:17 - Eating During Pregnancy & "Cheat Foods"26:20 - Body Image29:58 - Covid-19 Pandemic Talk36:00 - Pregnancy & Postpartum Athleticism resources
Ok Ok.... after reading that 'Episode Title' you're probably thinking "what the hell are you talking about Nikki?!". Well, in my experience as a "Fit Mom", the pregnancy and postpartum journey isn't always Sunshine, Rainbows & "Bouncing Back". I'm here to tell you that there are parts of Motherhood you might love and there are others you might hate. Despite what you see on Social Media, other "Fit Moms" struggle, cry, have a love/hate with themselves and their bodies and the journey is a lot harder than they have anticipated (or portrayed) physically, mentally, emotionally. This episode reveals the inspiration behind starting the Fit Moms Podcast and it is for those of you who want a zero f*cks real talk approach to motherhood. This episode touches on my own personal journey through pregnancy, postpartum, fitness & business. B.F.F. team, Boy Mom's and owners of The Barrre Code's Metro Detroit locations in Royal Oak, Birmingham, and Rochester Hills walk us through life in the fitness industry. To start off this episode Lindsey gives us some insight on what started her venture into the fitness industry, spending a couple years in corporate America she quickly learned the culture was not for her. After out-weighing several options including becoming a professional dog walker Lindsey knew the fitness industry was where she wanted to focus, but first she needed her BFF Janell who currently resided on the other side of the country. She hopped on a plane to California, convinced Janell of her vision to use fitness as a vehicle to inspire and empower women within their everyday lives, and brought Janell home to bring the franchise The Barre Code to Metro Detroit. In this episode this powerhouse mom duo teach us how to navigate through franchise ownership, the many benefits of meditation, balancing their new roles as "Mom", and most importantly how fulfilling your passion far exceeds the joy of profits.
