Send us a textKatie and Bridget be upstanders in the Dark Ages while they re-watch Katie's favorite movie from when she was 10: DragonHeart! It's a movie all about good vs. evil, medieval times, and possibly an interspecies romance between a dragon slayer and the last dragon... Or at least that's our fan theory for this movie! Come along as we meet Bowen, a knight of the old code turned dragon slayer, who's just trying to get by while his former student - Einon - literally ravages the land and destroys the kingdom after being given a second chance at life. When Bowen meets Draco, the last dragon left alive, the two team up for an America's Funniest Home Video style heist to get money and find companionship. With the help of some peasants, hijinks, and a possible King Arthur ghost, they decide to fight back against Einon and reclaim the land and their freedom! Spoiler alert: there may be some really sad dragon-related deaths in this movie so bring your tissues!!! Released in 1996, it stars Dennis Quaid, Sean Connery, Dina Meyer, Pete Postlethwaite, David Thewlis, and Jason Isaacs.
In this episode, we discuss our latest Year of the Nineties entry; the 1993 biopic "In the Name of the Father", starring Daniel Day Lewis, Peter Postlethwaite and Emma Thompson! Listen now!

We're back, bitches!!! Send us a Text Message.Katie and Bridget go back to the dino island (but not the SAME dino island) as they re-watch the lackluster sequel: The Lost World: Jurassic Park! Hey remember how the first Jurassic Park taught us to fear dinosaurs and never interact with them because man vs. nature blah blah? Well guess what - we're gonna go interact with them cause we forgot about all the death and destruction and instead are like YAY DINOS! Come along with Ian Malcolm, the only returning main character from the first movie! Through some spared-no-expense nonsense ala John Hammond, Ian ends up back with the dinos to go rescue his girlfriend who's been camping there alone for 4 days... Yes that's right, camping alone with DINOS... For four days... She might not have even had a tent, we're not really sure! But it's okay because we have some new characters like Nick Van Owen, the alleged back up plan (but we have doubts), Eddie Carr, the tech guy who gets viscously murdered, Kelly, a step-daughter who should have just stayed in the High-Hide, and InGen people, who just could not care less that they are seeing dinosaurs in real life. With that set up how could you go wrong!? Released in 1997, it was once again directed by Steven Spielberg, and features Jeff Goldblum, Julianne Moore, Pete Postlethwaite, Vince Vaughn, Arliss Howard, Richard Attenborough, Vanessa Chester, and Richard Schiff.

Sara! Siamo qui per te! Sei la nostra Barbie! This week we're putting this whole frickin' town in our rearview, as we make a return trip to Affleckville alongside the sweetest man in Michigan, FED Talks podcaster and all-around film fan EJ Feddes, who has brought an unseen selection from his own collection: 2010's The Town, directed, co-written and starring Ben Affleck, and co-starring Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Hall, Jon Hamm, Blake Lively, Chris Cooper and Pete Postlethwaite in his final film role. Ben's follow-up to previous pod-fodder Gone Baby Gone, he's back on the Boston streets with a crime thriller often compared to Michael Mann's Heat -- a comparison it shockingly does not buckle under the weight of. Speaking of, things get heated during a debate over whether mob goons deserve to be killed for the crimes of their capo. And J Mo needs to know: can you tell a city from its bridge? To hear more from our lovely guest, including multiple episodes of his show on which Hayley has appeared, you can find EJ on his own show, FED Talks. Hayley and Justin are back next week to tee up Dead Reckoning: Part I, as we finally watch the Tom Cruise race car classic Days of Thunder, directed by the late great Tony Scott.

In 1996 we got a modernized look at one of the all-time classics with Baz Luhrmann's William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet. Luhrmann takes us through the old familiar story word for word with a unique and modernized visual interpretation as the setting, so you have something to look at while you pretend to understand what they're saying. This flick is loaded with talent featuring: Leonardo DiCaprio, Claire Danes, Brian Dennehy, John Leguizamo, Harold Perrineau, Pete Postlethwaite, Paul Sorvino and Diane Venora, and was reviewed fairly well considering the large swing taken by Luhrmann. But, does it hold up? Listen in as Jon, Colin, and Brent debate how soon is too soon to introduce the poison and the risks of leaving children with priests as we try to figure out if this is true romance, or if we should just all kill ourselves.

This week on the pod as the highly anticipated conclusion of the Jurassic Park/World Podcast franchise is hitting the big screens around the world. Yes am i'm of course writing about Jurassic World: Dominion. So we will be talking Dinosaur films. But we are not alone, beaming in all the way from Australia, we are joined by Killian from The Anorak Oasis Podcast. Warning we will be talking SPOILERS. Also Boaz was not recording in his normal location, so his sound is a bit echoy. As Killian was beaming in from Australia her audio sounds a bit choppy and times. So please bare that in mind. The Anorak Oasis Podcasts choice for Dino films is Disneys Dinosaur. On this one we talk about the mixed results in terms of the films visuals. We talk about the different character choices and how the villains are portrayed. And some bonkers special effects. IMDB page Martin and Boaz's choice for this week is one of Steven Spielbergs sequels. The Lost World: Jurassic Park. On this one we talk about that amazing set piece, involving two very unhappy parents. The brilliance of Jeff Goldblum, Pete Postlethwaite and Julianne Moore. We talk about why a particular boat scene makes no sense at all. Plus Boaz has a rant about Fallen Kingdom. Lost and Found - The Town (Prime Video) - Episode 63Welcome to another episode of OTTplay Lost and Found, one podcast that talks about critically acclaimed films and shows but lesser-known. I'm your host Nikhil.Hollywood star Ben Affleck has quietly established himself as an accomplished screenwriter and filmmaker over the years with critical hits such as Good Will Hunting, Gone Baby Gone, and Argo. Apart from Argo, an Academy Award winner for Best Picture, Affleck's films have often focused on the Irish-Americans living in Massachusetts, drawing inspiration from the neighborhoods in Boston close to where he grew up. One such movie is the 2010 film, The Town. Written, directed, and starring Affleck, the plot chronicles the lives of bank robbers from the town of Charlestown in Boston, which has earned a reputation of being America's capital of bank robbers, a notion which has been disputed. Affleck essays the role of Doug MacRay, a bank robber who shares a close bond with his friends and fellow thieves. Doug's perception of life changes when he is tasked with keeping tabs on one of the hostages, Claire, whom the crew had released unhurt after their previous bank heist. However, Doug falls in love with Claire, who is unaware that he was one of her captors. Doug decides to leave his life of crime behind and move to Florida but soon learns that leaving with Claire to sunny Florida is easier said than done. With the FBI closing in on his crew, he is forced to make hard choices. The film, based on Chuck Hogan's book Prince of Thieves, stars Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Hall, Blake Lively, Jon Hamm, and Pete Postlethwaite in main roles. It discusses themes of family, redemption, and existentialism, and was praised for its story, grounded narrative, excellent performances, and direction. If you haven't watched The Town yet, then do so it's streaming on Amazon Prime VideoWell, that's the OTTplay Lost and Found for today until the next episode it's your host Nikhil signing out.Aaj kya dekhoge OTTplay se poochoWritten By Ryan Gomez

Carol Hodge exemplifies what punk rock really means - empathy, self awareness, respect, humour, uniqueness, tolerance and understanding. This is a brilliant convo. I thoroughly enjoyed being enlightened with Carol's world view and experiences. There's something for everyone in here, especially those who have battled with life - that's pretty much all of us, right? To quote Carol:“Always waiting for things to get better, for the perfect time, but it doesn't exist. Change is gradual, one day a time. Progress has been made, if you take the time to stop and look back, you'll see it. "She's an amazing songwriter, performer and pianist, crafting searing melodies and poignant lyrics that will make you lurch from joy to heartbreak. She also performs as a keyboardist/backing vocalist Ryan Hamilton, has also guested with Ginger Wildheart, Headsticks and The Membranes. She also sings and plays keys with Steve Ignorant and I can't wait to hear more of this!(And she has the ability to "knock out a bloody tune" (© Pete Postlethwaite) - have a laugh at my cringe as Carol clarifies that she is NOT, and never has been, a brass band.)I Wanna Jump Like Dee Dee is a music podcast that does music interviews differently. Emma is also a celebrated theater director that has directed critically acclaimed productions at Brighton, Manchester and Liverpool Fringe Festivals. Emma began improvising in 2007 and has since trained with leading improv professionals with a broad range of styles and philosophies from schools such as Second City, iO; UCB; Annoyance Theatre & The Groundlings. Teachers include The Maydays, Jaime Moyer; David Razowsky; Liz Allen; Michael Gellman; Rachel Mason & Susan Messing; Will Hines; Jay Sukow; Brian Palermo; Jeff Michalski; Michelle Gilliam; Shannon Stott; Jonathan Pitts; Aretha Sills; Armando Diaz, amongst others. Emma Bird is the Founder & Director of Liverpool Comedy Improv (LCI). Started in 2015, Liverpool Comedy Improv provides the opportunity to learn improvisation in Liverpool and across Merseyside. She has founded, developed, performed and directed four improv teams. Currently performing with Boss Birds Improv (Liverpool's first all women team); and duo team Moses & Bird. Emma is one of the leading teachers of comedy improvisation in Liverpool and the North West. Emma's approach to teaching improv is grounded in her 30 year professional experience as an actor and theatre director. In my conversation with the very impressive Emma Bird, she told me how, onstage, she plays cheeky, silly, and “a bit bonkers.” Emma spoke to me about finding her people when she joined a youth theater group at the age of 7. She talked about creating that same kind of community with Liverpool Comedy Improv (LCI). We chatted about tapping into imaginative play as a kid and connecting with your own playful spirit as an adult. We spent time going over what we learned from the pandemic. We both agreed that, for us personally, live theater feels more life affirming that zoomprov. (Though we do both love the opportunity we had to meet and connect through this medium!) We talked about the benefits of being a go getter with your own creative projects. “Make it and they will come,” she says. We discuss the importance of saying YES. You can support Emma Bird by attending a class at Liverpool Comedy Improv online or in person! You can also buy LCI merch from wherever you are in the world! SOMETHING HAS SURVIVED! Back in Spring 2020- the early days of the pandemic- Kieran, Paul and I sat down to record a 'DVD commentary'-style episode on Steven Spielberg's 'The Lost World: Jurassic Park' and- just under two years later- here it is for your ear-holes. You can expect us to dwell on the strengths and weaknesses of both this film and the series as a whole (we are not kind to this film's third act, for example), to think ahead on 'Jurassic World: Dominion', as well as talking about Pete Postlethwaite only taking two bullets to the island, dinosaurs and dog-houses and much, much more.
Luke & Corrye relive the thrill of the first time the Chumps ever saw the film in the theater. Some highlights: The constant running. The awkward but super passionate love scene. Cool-as-ice Uncas. Pete Postlethwaite's lack of lines. Mr. Belding's brother. The baffling "creative differences." Daniel Day-Lewis' corny but dramatic pleading. PLUS: Corrye slips in a FANTASTIC impression from the film, and what the Chumps would have done different with the ending.

Liverpool has a proud theatre history dating back over 150 years. The Playhouse is the oldest repertory theatre in England while the Everyman has a huge history helping launch the careers of the likes of Julie Walters, Jonathan Pryce, Pete Postlethwaite and Alison Steadman through to the likes of Bill Nighy, Alan Bleasdale, Willy Russell, David Morrissey and Stephen Graham. The city is also home to other much loved venues ranging from the Royal Court through to the Empire and the Unity. For this edition of Merseywaves, we brought together actress Josie Lawrence - who is currently in the city playing the role of Sylvie in ‘Our Lady of Blundellsands' at the Everyman, and Councillor Harry Doyle, Cabinet member for culture at Liverpool City Council to discuss why theatres are so important to the lifeblood of the city and the fabric of the nation. Well hello again…it's our good friend: the unnecessary remake. That's right, it's time for the film that came out on 06/06/06 (you see what they did there?): “The Omen”. While discussing the atmosphere, mood, and wonderful lead performances in the original, Richard Donner version would have been lovely, we decided to talk about the lackluster lead performances, uneven direction, and straight up “rip off” style of the 2006 remake. The St. Johns build Julia Stiles' Mt. Rushmore, discuss when they first saw Live Schreiber, and dissect how to say this name: Pete Postlethwaite. The film may have been unnecessary, but I assure you: this podcast is NOT! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Ben Affleck made a smart move when he decided to start directing films. He had made some bad career moves as an actor and was fizzling out. With his 2007 directorial debut "Gone Baby Gone," he proved he had chops — and that they weren't in acting. He's a great director. With "The Town," his 2010 heist film, he again shows he knows how to write and direct a great film, and can still act as long as he's in the right material. Join us — Pete Wright and Andy Nelson — as we continue our Heist Series with Affleck's great bank robber film. We talk about the amazing talent all through the film — Affleck, Jeremy Renner, Rebecca Hall, Blake Lively, Jon Hamm, Chris Cooper, Pete Postlethwaite, and more — and how they bring this world of robbers to gritty life. We chat about the changes the film went through from the original theatrical cut to the extended cut to the extended cut with alternate ending and how the alterations affected the story. We chat about the nature of the script, adapted from Chuck Hogan's novel "Prince of Thieves," and why it works so effectively even if it is formulaic. And we run through the wide array of reviews — from hating it to loving it — and deliberate on why we think the opinions vary so much with this film. It's a great and fun entry into our Heist Series and one well worth talking about. Listen in!
