Health Freedom Series... Beware of one size fits all medical protocols that may harm you! It's your responsibility to take care of your own health, not someone else's,... No other person can get inside of your body and take care of it for you Telling someone else that they're in charge of your health is irresponsible Helping someone make healthier choices is good, but don't try to force or coerce them Putting your health solely in the hands of others takes away your power and sovereignty Another person cannot make you do healthier things or be held responsible for your health Listen to your own inner voice and guidance and don't hold others responsible It is detrimental when others try to make someone do something that could harm them Each person has control of what they put in their body and you must begin within yours If I put not so good things in my body, I have no right to tell another what to put in theirs Protect yourself as you see fit, but try to refrain from telling others they have to do the same If you do things that "protect" you then you don't need to worry about everyone else, right? Always look at what you can improve on when it comes to your own health first and foremost Mind your own body! It's your body and it's your health so take care of it the best you can! Fear Follies Learn how to fix your fear follies so you can stay calm and rational.Read and watch my video blog below... Fear is a funny thing... A little bit can be helpful in certain situations, BUT… A lot can make your life miserable and cause stress and anxiety When you base your life and decisions on fear, it can block your good sense If fear pathways are activated in your brain, the rational pathways won't work as well Fear can interrupt processes that regulate emotions causing over-reaction Don't allow another person's fears to become yours just because they tell you to be afraid Be wary of those trying to push you into something using fear tactic coercion Make sureyou try to discern between your own fears -vs- fear placed upon you by others Use your intuition along with calming techniques (in the video) to think for yourself Always ask questions, do research and look further into the situation before fear takes hold The more you take action, the more you will feel in control and able to handle things With a little inquisitive thinking, knowledge and intuition you can stay calm and rational Keep in mind that facts and situations can change so stay alert and always reassess often And remember, FEAR can also be FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL so be aware! Shame on YOU or on ME? When you shame others, you may shame yourself instead... Shaming others can bring shame on you and is most likely stemming from your own judgement Shame is a very low, negative energy and you can feel it when someone directs it towards you When you shame someone, it is your insecurity & fear expressed to others in a manipulative way Human nature often uses shame and guilt to persuade people to do what they want them to do If someone says "shame on you", it can make you feel defensive as you feel the energetic "hit" There are ways to calmly deflect and avoid taking on another's shame (watch the video for more) Look inside yourself to see if you have guilt around the subject you're being "shamed" for There's no need to shame someone or shut someone out for their opinion or expressions Shutting down another person by shaming them chokes off flow and positive energy Putting shame on someone for something can backfire and boomerang back on you Be more open to different viewpoints and allow others to express themselves shamelessly! Awaken and Be Well Here are just a few takeaways from my awaken be well video... After leading a mostly normal life, we awakened to a year called 2020... Wellness coaches began to take on many of the difficult topics of 2020 I even awakened to a few things and spoke about them in my videos. We all awaken at different times and may not want to believe what we see. Always be sure to do your own research and look at all sides of the story. Open your mind and expand your knowledge so you can grow. Look at your emotions and the way you feel to work through fear and frustration. Consider others opinions and learn to have inquisitive conversations. Stay calm and try to be understanding with others to prevent anger and lashing out. There's a little bit of truth in everything so be open to beliefs beyond your own. Never stand so firm in your convictions that you cut off your own flow. Health Freedom We must preserve the right to choose what we put into our body... Test and Retest It's very important to retake health tests and question their accuracy... This video is not meant to diagnose, cure or treat any health condition, disease or disorder It's always best to get tested more than once when trying to pinpoint an illness in the body You can ask your doctors for additional bloodwork and tests they may not even mention to you If your doc won't run bloodwork for things you want, you can use a private company for them Your insurance will cover follow-up testing in as little as 30 days when monitoring certain issues Listen to the video for my story on how my bloodwork results showed big swings and patterns Once-a-Year blood tests are not enough to diagnose medical issues or determine protocols Get your tests done by a reputable Co/Dr who handles it properly in a controlled environment All tests, including the current C19 testing can be "off" due to poor handling and calibrations You may want to ask questions about the tests, their accuracy and how they actually work A single test doesn't determine illness so be sure to get a second opinion and additional tests Don't give up your rights and ability to think for yourself - Do your own research - Ask questions Track and keep copies of all of your results and don't just rely on your doctor or on-line vaults! What are they hiding/not telling us? Why are they taking away choices? What's the real agenda? The same people pushing worldwide wellness may be doing more harm than good... Lockdowns Can Lower Immunity Some takeaways from this video (watch below) about lockdowns and immunity are... First, the on-line Miriam Webster Definition of lockdown is... 1: the confinement of prisoners to their cells for all or most of the day as a temporary security measure2a: an emergency measure or condition in which people are temporarily prevented from entering or leaving a restricted area or building (such as a school) during a threat of danger… the school went on lockdown when a student brought a pellet gun to campus.— Ian Gordon2b: a temporary condition imposed by governmental authorities (as during the outbreak of an epidemic disease) in which people are required to stay in their homes and refrain from or limit activities outside the home involving public contact (such as dining out or attending large gatherings) PERSONALLY, I AM AGAINST LOCKDOWNS UNLESS THERE IS AN IMMEDIATE DANGER THAT CANNOT BE AVOIDED. EVEN THEN, THEY SHOULD BE USED FOR VERY SHORT PERIODS OF TIME AND ONLY WHEN ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY IF THEY WON’T CAUSE MORE HARM THAN GOOD! THE WORD - The word itself has a negative connotation and is energetically restrictive which can cause stress and in turn, can lower immunity. Try not to use the word too much and if the act of “locking down” causes problems for you, please contact your local authorities to push back. Get others in your community to join you in pushing back if you can. FRESH AIR - Staying indoors for long periods of time can expose you to stale air that may even contain toxic chemicals from off-gassing materials. Open the windows to air our daily and use air purifiers if you have them. VITAMIN-D - Lack of sunlight can lower vitamin D levels substantially which directly lowers your immune system. Be sure to supplement with 5,000 - 10,000 IUs daily and sit or lay in front of a sunny window or door if you can. S.A.D.NESS - Lack of sunlight can also cause SAD – Seasonal Affective Disorder which happens to many during the winter months from lack of sunlight and colder weather. Lockdowns can force this condition to appear even in those who don’t normally get it. Please see your doctor or health professional if you experience this or symptoms of depression. LIVING LIFE - Lack of socialization can cause loneliness, depression, poor self-esteem loss of reality, lower body temperature, decreased brain activity and even the ability to empathize with others. All of this can lower your immunity and shorten your life span if you’re subjected to it for long periods of time. AND MORE - There are many other ways (lousy) Lockdowns can lower your immunity, but I think we’ve covered enough for today. I firmly believe they are not good for us I am opposed to them. How to Keep Keeping Your Joy Learn to keep your joy and not let others opinions ruin it ... Don't seek the approval of others or outside sources for your joy and well being With so many opinions and circumstances surrounding us, it's easy to let it affect us The opinions of others - including media - can cause anger, contention and frustration You can take from other's opinions, but don't let them consume you or steal your joy Opinions are like... You know the saying... Stress - Anxiety - Emotions Some takeaways from this video about stress, anxiety and emotions... Wellness Tip - How to Use Your Inner Compass... We all can get bombarded by Media, Social Media, Stories, Opinions, Truths, Lies and more each day. Many different emotions can come up for us and I want to share with you some of the ways I use my inner compass to navigate through all of this. Intuition and learning how to process your emotions is very important. When you are bombarded with "news stories" and it brings up emotions like fear and anger, hope and hopelessness that overwhelms you, try to notice what you are thinking and feeling. Stop and think about where the emotion (like fear) is coming from. Many times you can dig deep and ask yourself what the emotion is and where it is coming from... Many times "fear" is from fear of death, fear of the unknown, fear of not being in control, fear of not knowing how to proceed. Once you find the root of the emotion (fear, anger, etc), you can work on dissipating it. One of the main ways I do this for myself is by tapping into spirituality... God, a higher power, the universe... something bigger than us! Getting out in nature can be a great way to do this since it puts you in a position where you know you didn't create it and don't have any control over it yet you are comfortable in it! here! Once you realize something bigger than you is in control of the "big picture" you can begin to let go and be calm. Let go of being in control and reach for spiritual comfort! My inner compass always prompts me to do research or look into things more thoroughly which helps me find a more truthful version and some middle ground on any given subject. I'm definitely a person who loves knowledge, but I like to put the pieces of the puzzle together for myself. I highly suggest you do this as well, especially if the "news media" is telling you something that brings up emotions like anger for you. Try to go to proper sources like .gov, research sites, universities, the person or company you're hearing about, etc, to seek the truth, unbiased reports, different perspectives and a more accurate full spectrum take on it. I also try not to judge other people - which is very difficult as a human - Lol! At the very least, you can judge in a way that has a middle ground and in a fair, balanced way. When I do it this way, I feel more in my own truth and I can discern what is right or wrong for me without getting overly emotional about what others are doing. I try to rationalize and connect to my inner compass and when I see something that doesn't feel right to me, I try to understand that other person may not be following their inner compass or maybe they are, but are unwilling to find a more middle ground on the subject! Either way, I don't have any control over it or them! A great way to follow your inner compass and get more clarity on what's best for you and your body is the "YES" - "NO" method! How to Strengthen Your Wellness Pillars... Wellness Pillars can keep you sane and sturdy during stressful times. Physical, Mental and Spiritual wellness are the 3 areas of wellness that I feel are the most important to keep balanced. The First Pillar is Physical Wellness which can compose of many things, but the base should be nutrition. Eating foods that give you essential vitamins and minerals is imperative. Make sure that you're buying and consuming as many whole foods as you can to be as nutritionally sound as possible. I also always recommend a really good multiple vitamin (please schedule a Personal Coaching Session to go over your options) and I also like to bump things up a notch with extra vitamin D, C, B-Complex and more. The next part of the Physical Wellness Pillar is eating what's good for you and staying away from what's not so good... Watch/read more about how to strengthen your Wellness Pillars below... Strengthen Your Wellness Pillars Cont'd... I know when I eat something that I'm sensitive to, it wreaks havoc on my body! There are quite a few things I react to and I try to stay away from them. I recommend you give it a try - Cut out something you suspect is bothering you. Once you do this, I'm sure you will feel better and may even lower some inflammation in your body! We also need to move our body - AKA: exercise! Walk, run, jog, or just do jumping jacks in the living room! Whatever you do, please be sure to mix it up a bit. You want to use different muscles and not get used to just one form of body movement to get the best results. Physical activity can even help to boost our mood! The Second Wellness Pillar is Mental Wellness. We all go through some form of mental instability at one time or another. If you are feeling mentally off balance at any time, please be sure you reach out to your medical professional or health care practitioner right away! There are many therapists and tele-health resources where you can talk to someone who can help you. You can also call friends, family or get in a group or two for support. Exercise and getting proper nutrition can help your mental wellness, but if you feel depressed or down, be sure to reach out for help! The third Wellness Pillar is Spiritual! No matter what your religion, what your beliefs are, you can tap into something bigger than yourself. Get out of your head and tap into the expanse of the sky, ocean, mountains, rolling hills, woods, etc. Tap into the energy that is all around and it can help you feel better. Mother nature is our friend (though some forget this often) and without her, we don't exist. I hope we can be good to her in the future! Keep your Wellness Pillars strong so they don't crumble! We all need to be strong for ourselves and each other! Without strong physical, mental and spiritual pillars, we'll fall apart - And we don't need (or want) that! Take a deep breath.... Wellness Tip - How to Worry Well... Worrying well might seem almost impossible. especially if you are a Type A personality such as myself. My advice on the subject is to turn your worry into something more productive so it doesn't wreck your well being. If you have many worried thoughts in your head, get them out of there! Write down your main worry and all (positive or negative) thoughts about it on a piece of paper. Then split the paper down the middle. On the left side, write a few things you can control about the worry. On the right side, write what you can't control about it. Do this separately for each main worry you have. Once you have your worry in writing, focus on what you can do today and come up with a plan to take some baby action steps! This may sound simple, but it's really important that you take immediate positive actions to feel more in control of a situation! Next... Let's rationalize a bit! There are always things we can do to improve a situation. In the example of a health crisis (like the COVID-19 pandemic) there are quite a few guidelines we can all follow to lower the chances of getting sick or build up our immunity to be able to fight the dis-ease! There might also be positive things that could come from the situation we are worrying about so try to think of what might be "good" about what is happening. Write down the positives! Take time to think about things in a more loving way. Don't be too busy to notice the good... Slow down and pull in a bit... to self reflect. What are your abilities and what can you do to help yourself and others through the situation? There are always new innovations and great ideas that come out of a crisis so try to be a part of them in some way. You can also reach out to friends, family, health practitioners, coaches, mentors and therapists for support in working through your worries. As a certified wellness coach, I'm always thinking about how I can worry well, but I'm not perfect. I still have thoughts in my head that try to get the best of me, but I ground them down, get them out on paper and create an action plan! I hope this method helps you as well! How to Stay well with "F" Words!... Whether you’re reading this during or after the COVID-19 corona virus outbreak, this post can still be relevant for many stressful situations. My heart and prayers go out to everyone affected by this or any other crisis! Being an Italian from Boston and New Jersey, I’ve used the 4 letter “F” word many times to get through a tough situation. I’ve also “Freaked Out” on occasion! . Just can’t help myself, but when I’m finished with those two, I settle down and go through a few more productive “F” words… The first one I go to is “Fundamentals” because this gets me back to the basics. If I have food, water, shelter and clothing, etc, I can relax a bit knowing I have a strong foundation. Organizing, taking inventory and getting all of my “Fundamentals” in place first can go a long way in feeling more secure and somewhat in control. Try not to isolate and instead make it a point to reach out to people through your own network, groups, coaches and even agencies if needed. “Facts” – Make sure you have the facts and find them yourself! This especially holds true on news segments because they usually only give you snip-its and there is always much more to the story! Check the source and read the entire article before taking a side or getting sucked into their sensationalism! “Find”… Find yourself, find strength, find time, find new ways of doing things… And maybe you’ll even find some missing socks in the laundry! Lol!! “Feelings” – Honor your feelings! We’re all unsure at times and may feel like freaking out, but try to work through them by rationalizing. If you can’t work through them on your own, reach out to others who can help! “Freedom” – We may not have a lot of freedom in times of crisis, but to free yourself from within, let go of what you can’t take control of. You do have control over yourself and what you do. You have more control than you think! Just be sure you free yourself from controlling others or it will make you miserable! “Face your Fears” – With a smile! There are some things we don’t have control of, but we have to face them, rationalize them and let go of what is not in your control so you can do what you need to do for yourself and your loved ones! “Faith” – Have faith and hope that it will turn out ok. No matter what your religion or belief system, you gotta have faith – Even in the most serious circumstances! Faith in ourselves and others brings hope! Special Mini-Training on Healthy Hygiene & Immune Boosters... It's difficult to avoid getting sick during cold and flu season, but if you practice a few healthy hygiene habits and boost your immune system, you have a better chance of shortening the duration of whatever you do catch! At the time I am writing this, our nation is in the middle of a Novel (new) Coronavirus outbreak and the CDC has recommended several actions for everyone to take to keep from getting it and hopefully slowing the spread of it. In this Video Post, I go over the action steps the CDC and NIH are telling us to take along with a few of my own suggestions for you to try. I also give you several immune boosting vitamins, minerals and herbs I feel are crucial for overall health and wellness even if there is no apparent viral or bacterial threat to the population. I am a big proponent of taking supplements from a reputable source on a daily basis to off-set the lack of nutrients currently found in the American diet due to poor eating habits and soil depletion. I personally follow all of the steps outlined in this mini-training video and worksheet, however, I do not intend for them to be a total preventative, remedy, cure or absolute solution for any dis-ease or condition. The most recommended hygiene action step is to make sure you are washing your hands with soap and water - frequently! Details of how and when are in the video and on the worksheet, but this basic and simple action can go a long way in preventing the spreading of viruses, bacteria and other germs. I also cover (in detail) how and why to clean and disinfect surfaces as well as several suggestions on how to avoid touching your face! A few other health hygiene habits include why gloves and paper towels are good for more than just cleaning and the scoop on when it is appropriate to wear a mask and how they can help in certain situations, but not all. Rounding off the list is how to distance yourself from those infected without running in the other direction and when to sound the alarm without panicking! Taking extra doses of these, along with a really good multiple vitamin are almost a necessity nowadays due to many reasons discussed in the video. Well-Weight-Wisdom: Travel Tricks I love to travel and have plenty of well-weight tricks to keep me on track. I've come up with a few guidelines that make it easier for me to reach and maintain my well-weight goals while I'm on the road and I know that if I don't follow them, I won't feel as good during my trip. Most are not optional and, whenever I've tried to do without one or two, I've experienced set backs in my well-weight which include water retention, bloating, stomach aches, other health issues and weight gain! l want to travel in a way that doesn't interfere with my healthy body goals and help you do the same! I'm often asked what I do to eat right and stay in shape when I'm traveling so, as I prepare for my next trip, I thought I'd share a few of my well-weight travel tricks. I have a mental checklist of what I will need when I'm traveling to make sure that I'm set and I don't skip a beat (or too many beats) when it comes to maintaining my well weight or achieving new well weight goals. Book a hotel with Kitchenette - I always make sure that I stay at a hotel with a kitchenette so I can prepare my own meals. More importantly, I can go to the grocery store to shop for healthy foods and snacks. No Kitchenette options available? Try to find lodging that has a decent hotel refrigerator. The ones that come up to about your hips are best, so you have extra room to store all of the healthy goodies that you'll be getting. Many hotel rooms also have a microwave and a few offer a wet bar area. Call the hotel to ask ahead of time if possible. While you may not be able to cook in your room, it's best to have plenty of healthy food and drinks available. Pack a cooler with healthy food and snacks - As you run out the door with your luggage, you probably don't think much about what you're going to eat on the way to your destination and that can open you up to some pretty bad food choices along the way. To avoid unhealthy eating options, I like to pack a small cooler with tuna fish & gluten free crackers, chicken lettuce wraps or a small salad. I also include a 3oz container of hummus with celery, organic apples (&/or other fruit), seeds and nuts along with a couple of protein bars. I keep things fresh by putting in a few mini-plastic cubes and keeping the cooler in the fridge until right before I walk out the door. If you can't pack a small cooler, at least put healthy snacks into your purse or carry-on bag and think about what you're going to eat on-the-go ahead of time. Choose wisely at restaurants - Many food joints and kiosks do have healthier choices like salads, rice & veggies, hummus & veggies, fruit, nuts and trail mixes. Just be sure to stay away from the fried food places (as tempting as it can be) or you may find yourself not feeling good and sabotaging your well-weight right out of the gate. Make a shopping list - Plan what you will need once you arrive at your location then go to the grocery store soon after you arrive. If you put it off, the days will pass and you will find that you get busy and never get there. Preparation and making sure that you follow through is very important to maintaining your well-weight goals while you travel. Some things on my lists are frozen berries and bananas for my protein shakes, pumpkin and sunflower seeds and salad stuff. I also buy chicken, no-preservative frozen shrimp and frozen veggies for stir fries. Schedule your Exercise time - Find out where the nearest Fitness Center is... which these days can be right in your hotel. I sometimes join a local gym for a longer trip and I try to get there s...
It is important for you to manage your insurance and doctors so that YOU can be the best advocate of your own health. Advocating your own health and wellness is key to reaching and maintaining your well-weight goals.
Well-Weight-Wisdom: How to Flip your Slim Switch On! Does the elusive slim switch really exist? The on and off switch is more about kicking up your ability to burn fat... or slowing it down. There are some things that I do (and you can do too) to turn it on and keep it on! I exercise 2-4 days per week, drink a vitamin infused protein shake each day, avoid processed foods and keep my alcohol (wine night) consumption to once per week. And, as a bonus, I'd like to mention that I stay away from things that my body doesn't like or is sensitive to by "tuning in" and finding out! There are also some things that I know can turn the "fat burning switch off" and make it more difficult to reach and maintain a healthy body weight. They also can contribute to health conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol and cardio-vascular issues. The main things that I know can flip the fat burning switch off are... 1-Alcohol & Soda ~ 2-Refined Sugars ~ 3-Starchy Carbs ~ 4-Sluggish Thyroid To learn more, please watch and read below... Flip your Slim Switch On cont'd... You must avoid or minimize alcohol and sugar in your diet. Don’t kill the messenger. You know that these are typically not recommended if you are trying to lose weight or be healthier. I put these two things together because alcohol converts to sugar and sugar is sugar! When alcohol coverts into sugar in your body, your body metabolizes it like regular sugar or products with sugar in them. When you consume too much sugar, it can damage your cells and can also result water retention. If you consume too much sugar or too many foods that turn into sugar in your body, the result will be weight gain. It can lead to inflammation that impacts your health longer term. Limit or better yet, avoid starchy carbohydrates... not nutritious carbohydrates. Avoiding starchy carbs is going to help tremendously in reaching and maintaining your well-weight. I recommend eliminating most processed grain foods such as breads and pastas. They are not good for you when you're trying to lose weight especially if you're trying to turn that slim switch on and get it to stay on. I support low carb diets, but I do not recommend extreme diets that encourage consuming high amounts of fat & protein... especially those that include large amounts of processed meats and cheeses. I am always preaching that you should not be going on and off diets – yo-yo dieting is a no-no. I support eating in a way that is nutritionally sound and right for your body so that it gives you everything that you need to stay slim and maintain your ideal body weight. This is what I coined as a term called your “well-weight.” The third thing that can flip your slim switch off is a sluggish thyroid. This one is a biggie, especially in women who are going through pre- or post-menopause. The impact of a sluggish thyroid was extremely critical for me because when I turned 40 my hormones started to change and caused my thyroid to malfunction. Want to hear more? Listen to my story, because I do speak from experience. The best thing you can do for yourself to take care of your thyroid is to get your complete thyroid blood work panel done at least once a year. It is not difficult to take care of your thyroid these days and you do want to establish a baseline early so it can be tracked. When and if issues arise, you will be better able to pinpoint them. For me, it took multiple tests over the course of two years to discover a problem with my thyroid and that was too long. Take charge of your own health; be your own advocate and get your tests done! There you have it, my top things that flip my slim switch to the off position.
