Dr. Aaron Wheeler, the Director of Missional Development for Kindred Exchange, chats with Lauren about four different frames through which people see the world and their place in the Story of God. Too often, he says, our evangelism problem is rooted in a limited theology–we have a “good news” that doesn't match people's bad news. This two-part episode series will significantly inform the way followers of Jesus share their belief with others, providing a set of powerful questions to ask and postures to take when connecting with other humans around conversations of faith. From guilt to shame, purity to power, Aaron breaks down the worldviews most people hold and then explains why it is critical to understand a person's frame before introducing him or her to a gospel narrative. He and Lauren also discuss what is next for the global Church, and how local churches can be better stewards of Good News. ... EPISODE SHOW NOTES EPISODE TRANSCRITPION ... Steven Johnston played basketball at Fairfield University from 2012-2015 and now runs his own basketball training company "No Days Off". He talks about growing up in Stamford, Connecticut, how he got into basketball, and his high school career that involved 3 different schools and re-classifying. Steve discusses his recruiting process, why he chose to walk-on at Fairfield University, getting cut as a Freshman, but staying on the team as a Team Manager and a practice player, and his work ethic that led him to suit up the final game and earn a spot on the team as a Sophomore. He then details his Sophomore season in 2013, becoming a regular rotation player in the lineup in the tough Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. He talks about his Junior season in 2014 where he started multiple games, and his Senior year in 2015 where an injury derailed him slightly. Through his college career, he never stopped working and literally went from team manager to a starting guard. After college, Steve describes his time playing professionally in Canada, how and why he started No Days Off, what he teaches when he trains his players, and following all of their careers. Some of the big names Steve has trained include Sonia Citron, Aaron Wheeler, Christyn Williams, and Olivia Nelson-Ododa.

If you come back for your senior year you might get to see Nana again. The Sponsors We can do this because people support us. You should support them! The show is presented by UGP & The Bo Store, and if it wasn’t for Rishi and Ryan we’d be writing for The Athletic if we're lucky. Our associate sponsors are also key to all of this: HomeSure Lending, Peak Wealth Management, Ann Arbor Elder Law, the Residence Inn Ann Arbor Downtown, the University of Michigan Alumni Association, Michigan Law Grad, Human Element, The Phil Klein Insurance Group, FuegoBox and The Athletic 1. Hoops vs Minnesota starts at 1:00 Michigan's worst defensive game in a very long time. Teske got run by Cockburn, Williams, Garza, and Oturu—just not Tillman. Marcus Carr is finishing through Teske's chest in this game. Why aren't they doubling? Especially in this game? Other things: Wagner finding a groove, still can't muscle guys. He's not a 4: guy Livers should have been guarding can muscle a freshman Wagner. Eli has to hit his open threes or they need to let DDJ start. Juwan's stubbornly sticking to his rotation despite ample evidence at this point that Nunez can't be out there. 2. Hot Takes and Purdue starts at 27:02 Let C.J. cook! Trevion Williams puts up a career game, as one does. Teske made it difficult-ish on Williams, who had the game of his life. But if you're going to double off anyone it's the team with Aaron Wheeler and Nojel Eastern. Losing Haarms opens the door for Michigan to run their three-guard lineup, and Simpson goes 8/8 of two after that. Both teams were turning it over at first then it became a pretty good game. It looks like a Beilein team now. 3. Gimmicky Top Five: Most Terrifying Things in the Big Ten This Year starts at 45:34 Rutgers. Let the peacock fly! That joke this week man. I would like to see Michigan not give up career highs to every center they face. Is it fun or horrifying to cover a Big Ten this good? Ibi Watson is shooting 49% on threes. 4. Ace's Hockey Podcast starts at 1:12:50 Sweep of Notre Dame that felt like all the rest of their games this year except the result. Straus Mann is a good goalie (ND has one too)! Big Ten has one team that's talented, Wisconsin, and they're terrible on defense. Recruiting is better than basketball. The Purdue forward sits down with Q & S to talk how he is being hyped up for a breakout season, and some of his basketball inspirations. Derek also tries to prove to Jake that some of his East Coast lingo is actually real.
In the sermon we talked about how identity comes from the cycle of who we are and what we do. Talk about some of the labels that are a part of your identity, such as being a student, employee, parent, child, athlete, etc. Then talk about how your choices can either cause that identity to be strengthened or weakened. For example, a student (BE) is supposed to complete homework assignments (DO). What will happen to that student if they choose not to? We also talked about how identity can come from inside (how we think about ourselves) or outside (what others think about us). Which one do you think is a stronger source of identity in your life? How is the third option, letting God tell us who we are, so different? What does God say that we are? See 1 John 3:1. If we know we are sons and daughters of God, how then should we act? What do children of God do? How would these actions change how we think about ourselves? We also looked at one of Jesus’s stories about a father and his two sons. See Luke 15:11-32. We compared how the younger brother and the older brother reacted differently to the father’s love. If you’re honest, which son is more like you?
Purdue Head Coach Matt Painter couldn't be prouder of the way his guys played in the NCAA Tournament, and says they'll use the Elite 8 loss as a building block for this coming season. He talks about the magic and talent of Carsen Edwards, and how he feels about returning players Matt Haarms, Trevion Williams, and Aaron Wheeler. He also addresses the 3-point line change and how it may impact his team and college basketball in general. Auburn's Bruce Pearl says Chuma Okeke and Jared Harper are committed to the NBA draft process and so he's planning accordingly for next season. He speaks to Auburn's incredible NCAA Tournament run, the importance of having depth and developing your bench, his team's biggest needs for next year, and why he believes that Kentucky was actually the best team in the 2019 tournament. Plus, Brendan Quinn from The Athletic joins to offer some insight into John Beilein's decision to leave Michigan for the head coaching gig with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

It was life imitating art as the evil JR, played by Blas Perez, stole Thor's thunder as good-guy younger brother Bobby, played by Aaron Wheeler, looked to have stolen the show, the perennially nice, but useless Cliff Barnes played by Zach MacMath did his usual routine of screwing everything up with a dopey "who me?" look on his face as the ineffectual Sue-Ellen, played by John Hackworth looked on from the sidelines. You couldn't make this stuff up. No Stormin' Gorman means even more prattling on from Richie and a greater amount of stats-a-plenty from Pat. Here's hoping Dan makes it out of the Georgia swamps in time for the next episode.
