Dr. Angela Miller of mediationnikan.com in conversation with Natalia and Mac of olowskapierre.com discuss the necessity of bringing mediation skills to schools to educate children as young as 13 years of age till they are adults (8 grade till 12 grade). The time of adolescence is crucial when learning to resolve conflicts in an amicable manner as these are the moments when the children are appreciating of their peers' views more than those of the adults, like teachers and parents. Teaching mediation skills to the youngsters not only enables them to solve the conflicts by themselves but also equips them with the skills they will take outside of the classroom - like active listening, avoiding prejudice and understanding and accepting differences. It also produces the effect of calming down stressful situations in the school territory and outside of it in any peer groups leading to better anger management and improving social skills. Angela shows how this should be the mediator's initiative as part of their community service and how it will benefit long term the individuals themselves and their environment: families, communities, workplaces.

If you're a parent, it's more important than ever to not only be aware of what your child is exposed to online but to guide them in making great decisions about their sexual purity. As the father of five children (my oldest is 12), I feel pretty confident in all of the "do-nots" that come with pornography, social media, and movies. But until I met Zach and Angela Miller, I didn't fully understand how unprepared I was to advise my children in what to do as they grow up... and what is at stake. Zach and Angela's ministry, Purity Parenting, was born out of a desire to support and coach parents amid a scattered and sometimes confusing landscape of content for parents who want to keep their children sexually pure. In today's episode we'll talk about why this is such a big deal, how you can start talking about these issues with your child no matter how young -- or old! -- they are, and which resources can protect your home and empower the next generation. “For we are his handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for the good works that God has prepared in advance, that we should live in them.” Ephesians 2:10 This week Angela Miller shares the story of her community in Ohio who have come together in response to the Holy Spirit to build atria, be formed, and fall more deeply in love with God together. From the first day, it was clear to Angela that CGS was unlike anything she had ever experienced. The presence of the Good Shepherd in her own life grew and she fell in love with walking with the children and listening to the Voice of the Good Shepherd together. As a Clinical Psychologist, Angela spends her professional life confronting the deep wounds and brokenness which can plague the human person. She finds in the atrium a place where children and adults can encounter full acceptance and gain a true understanding of their value, place, and purpose in their homes, in their communities, and in the greater context of the plan of God. She feels that the sense of intentional connectedness, irreplaceable worth, and essential belonging that is the natural fruit of the atrium life is a gift of CGS to a hurting world. She offers the wealth of her training and education in psychology, as well as her extensive experience in program development, association leadership, and advocacy to CGSUSA in gratitude for God's gift of CGS in her life and the lives of her five children.
