Matthew records the first of Jesus' five great discourses here with the Sermon on the Mount containing what we call The Beautitudes.
From Matthew 5v8.
Do you judge yourself as quickly and harshly as you judge others? This week Pastor Korey shows us what it looks like to be a person of mercy as he challenges us to reject hypocritical judgements and embrace true compassion and empathy for others.

Revd Barry Kirk journies through Matthew 5 v1-12, showing we are blessed when there is more God in us and less of us, when we are content with who we are and what God has made of us, and when we are care-full, we are cared for.

In this series we look at how to develop a more beautiful attitude based on some of the Beatitudes found in Matthew 5. Fortunately for us, Jesus gives us some very clear and compelling ways to achieve this.

Matthew 5 records the beginning one of Jesus' most memorable messages – the sermon on the mount. The beatitudes in this chapter point us to what a truly supreme blessedness in life looks like. Blessed are the poor in spirit and those who mourn, for they will still see heaven and the Lord's comfort through grief. Blessed are the meek and those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for He will entrust you with more when you surrender to Him. Blessed are the merciful, for you will also receive mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, and are peacemakers, for they will be close to God. And blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake. The reason why the sermon on the mount is the king of all speeches, is because it's the speck of the King of all kings. We often hear people recite the Beautitudes but do we really understand them and how it relates to the Doctrine of Christ? Hear the message and how the Word of God applies.
In this devotional reading, we will be reading from Matthew 5:1-3 (NIV). This is an introduction of the preaching that Jesus did when he was in Mount Sinai. This is the introduction of his sermon. The word "blessed" does mean "happy" but only in its purest, most godly sense. The definition of the word blessed is not just being happy but more of joyful. Who did Jesus preached the Beatitudes and the first one Jesus mention are the poor in Spirit. Who are the poor of spirit? Why did he preached it and what are they supposed to do after hearing Jesus' message? Listen for yourself to hear the answer to these questions. My prayer is that something that I might have said touch your hearts and that if you haven't accepted Christ as your personal savior that you will finally decide to do it now. We would love to know if you made that decision, or you want us to pray with you. Today's reading is full of the teachings of Jesus, and Luke begins with accounts highlighting the manner in which Jesus approached the Sabbath. While the Pharisees viewed it as a means of performance and merit, Jesus views it as an opportunity to please God through restoration, whether that be through rest, replenishment or miraculous healing. We'll also encounter the Beautitudes in today's text, followed by some parables, all of which point the hearer to humility of heart and dependence on God to sustain and provide.:::Christian Standard Bible translation. All music written and produced by John Burgess Ross.Co-produced by the Christian Standard Biblefacebook.com/commuterbibleinstagram.com/commuter_bibletwitter.com/CommuterPodpatreon.com/commuterbibleadmin@commuterbible.org

Hello we welcome you to Reaching Out Radio International, we are a minsitry team working together in one mind one accord in love and unity as the body of Christ sharing the Gospel into the world. It is our hope our programs enrich your relationship with Jesus helping you to become rooted bringing forth good fruit. We will only share the true message of the cross, being, John 14:6 6Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. Tonights program is In the Word with Sister Pearl, with host Sister Pearl. In tonight's Reaching Out Radio International's broadcast, 'In the Word, with Sister Pearl', we will continue to delve into God's word, so often known as Christ's Sermon on the Mount, found in the gospel of Matthew, chapter 5. While we often speak of the Kingdom of God and the Kingdom of Heaven, interchangeably, there is a distinction. The Kingdom of God most closely refers to His rule and righteousness reigning inside of a life, totally devoted and surrendered to Christ, as found in Luke 17:20, when He said the Kingdom of God is within you or in your midst. However, the Kingdom of Heaven refers to the clear promise given to all those who humble themselves and follow Christ...ours is the very Kingdom of Heaven. In other words, when Christ states, 'Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven', He is speaking of the fact that we will be reigning with Him in His Heavenly Kingdom, eternally. Thank God that this earth is not our final dwelling place. For those who love and obey the Lord, Heaven is our real and lasting home. Praise God! We thank you for listening for your continued prayers and support as we share the Gospel into the world. May God Bless You and keep you!

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled. Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/heathflanagan/message

Blessings are all around us, but if we're not careful, the theology behind the blessings can do more harm than good. Today we take a deep dive into Matthew 5:1-12 and really dissect the Beatitudes. We look at how the blessing isn't in the suffering, but in the way that God shows up and redeems our suffering. Join us: open your mind, open your heart, and fill your cup with a little Gospel.

Pastor Jeff speaks on what it means to be the light of the world.
This is Podcast is about part of the Sermon on the Mount which begins in Matthew chapter 5.
Over the weekend, Jeff was in church when the pastor brought up the question of, "what if the world wrote their own beatitudes? What would they look like or say?"Here are the results: Blessed are the entitled, for they grab what they want. Blessed are the carefree, for they shall be comfortable. Blessed are the pushy, for they shall win. Blessed are the greedy, for they shall climb the food chain. Blessed are the vengeful, for they shall be feared. Blessed are those who don't get caught, for they shall look good. Blessed are the argumentative, for they shall get in the last word.Blessed are the popular, for this world lies at their feet. When you look at what the world around us values, it looks completely opposite to Jesus and the Gospel doesn't it? Now, here is what the word of God says are the real Beatitudes from Matthew 5:3-10:“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:3-10)The Gospel of Jesus is more than a few handy tips for improving our lives this week. It is a new outlook on everything, with a glorious future renewing the creation through his death and resurrection. But he is not the only one making us promises. The world has its own version of events, its own eschatology, its own promises of reward. We must choose. And either way, we will be living by faith.

The Beautitudes- Meek. 07/08/18. Mike Slofstra by Sonlight Community Church
Julian introduced the new series on Beatitudes, explains how Jesus sets the scene for his Kingdom by sharing these unprecadented statements. This is a New Torah, a new Exodus and a new Moses. Jesus calls us to align ourselves comepletly with his kingdom, allowing the Holy Spirit to shape and change our minds.
The Beautitudes sets the background for this sermon on taking action.
The Sermon on the Mount may be the most influential teaching in the history of the world, and it begins with a simple and provocative statement about who is blessed as the Kingdom of Heaven invades this world. But what did Jesus mean by these words and how are we to live in light of them?

My guest on the podcast this week is Kathy Escobar. Y'all. She is wise and funny and so, so thoughtful. You're going to love everything she has to say about having hard conversations with people we disagree with and what peacemaking is (and is not). We both share a passion to take big concepts (like Shalom, like unity, like reconciliation, you know...so meta ;)) and making them practical so that we can actually live them out. She tells us about a recent video series she did with The Work of the People, "Different Not Divided: A Third Way" with her co-pastor, Karl Wheeler about how they've navigated living together in unity while still honoring their differences at their church, "The Refuge". From the "The Work of the People" website: When we love our theology more than our brothers and sisters we are usually left with only two options: 1. Create increasingly larger, theologically monolithic and homogeneous churches, or 2. Disintegrate, fracture and eventually close the doors and lose relationship with each other. For almost 10 years in The Refuge community, we have tried to practice a third option--a Third Way--where instead of fighting for our positions or fleeing for the safe haven of a group that looks, thinks, and believes like us--we live in the tension of our difference. We are different, not divided. And because practical application and providing awesome resources to the Body is something Kathy and I love to do, we've teamed up with Travis Reed over at "The Work of the People" to provide Shalom in the City listeners access to the videos and discussion guides. Normally you'd have to purchase these from the site, but we want to empower you, Shalom Sistas with this amazing resources to bring Shalom to your hard conversations and messy communities!
