Welcome to Season 5, Episode 20! The Titanic sank over 110 years ago, but people are still fascinated with the disaster. This is especially true when there are new stories that come out about The RMS Titanic that are relatable or pique our curiosity. Hearing about the eight Chinese nationals who were on the Titanic as passengers and the six who survived is one of those moments where we learned something new, and we felt that we could relate to the story. But we wouldn't have known about this obscure bit of ignored history without the work of our guest, Steven Schwankert. Steven is an award-winning editor and author who seeks adventure and truth. His work researching and writing about the eight Chinese nationals and six survivors of the RMS Titanic resulted in both a documentary (completed by his creative partner Arthur Jones) as well as a new non-fiction book (completed by him)… both entitled The Six. In our conversation with Steven, we discuss his process of research, some of the narratives that came out of their discoveries, the treatment of the Chinese nationals who survived the disaster, the experience of providing closure for living relatives of these Chinese Nationals, seeking truth, and so much more. The Six book and documentary were both really informative engaging. If you like what we do, please share, follow, and like us in your podcast directory of choice or on Instagram @AAHistory101. In this episode of The Absolute Strength Podcast, I dive into one of the biggest muscle-building debates: volume vs. intensity. Should you focus on lifting to failure with fewer sets or do long marathon workouts? We break down the history of both training styles—from Arthur Jones and Dorian Yates to the high-volume methods of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jay Cutler, and modern science-backed training. We also explore what research says, the pitfalls of each approach, and, most importantly, how to apply progressive overload no matter which method you choose. Sit back, relax, and enjoy! Tune in and take part in this transformative exploration of human potential and unity. We are all relatives; we all come from the same Source. Whether we agree on the name or not, we're one planet, one people. This is our opportunity to step up and demonstrate intelligence in unity. Today, science has bridged the gap with spirituality, and what quantum physics, quantum mechanics, and Quantum Sciences are beginning to reveal is what Vedantic philosophy has held all along: we are all energy, emanating from the same Source. Each of us is a divine thread, incarnate, with the capacity to be gods and goddesses through the Consciousness we embody. We face challenges in understanding our purpose, often constrained by societal and organizational structures, whether corporate or religious. With a vision of “One World,” we can share the responsibility that brings each of us to a level of personal accountability. Rather than calling this a New Age, we might better call it the “Age of Accountability”—a time to be responsible for what we do and how we act. Welcome to "One World in a New World," where ambition meets innovation in co-creating a new normal. Here, we explore the “thoughtmosphere,” embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery, and embrace harmony—with ourselves, with others, and with Mother Earth. Zen Benefiel skillfully guides these conversations, revealing personal journeys and perspectives through enlightening “apocalyptic chats,” inspiring listeners to seek knowledge and wisdom in their own lives. Join us in this transformative journey as we delve into the depths of the human experience, exploring the inner and outer realities and bridging them through conscious understanding. Giorgio Angelini is an award-winning filmmaker, perhaps best known for the documentary Feels Good Man, a collaboration between himself and Arthur Jones. It started as a low-tech online message board where people shared funny memes. Then users of 4chan began testing their influence offline, identifying targets for comeuppance and demonstrating against them. But some used the site to organize hacking attacks for social action, which drew the attention of the FBI. Others found an unchecked platform for extremism which eventually led to insurrection. The Netflix documentary The Antisocial Network: From Memes to Mayhem chronicles the rise of 4chan, from its early days as a snarky imageboard to a home for the hacktivists of Anonymous and conspiracy theorists of QAnon. It not only examines its grip on users stuck in its infinite scroll, but also its real life effects on technology, politics, and society. In this episode of You Can't Make This Up, host Rebecca Lavoie interviews directors Arthur Jones and Giorgio Angelini. SPOILER ALERT! If you haven't watched The Antisocial Network yet, make sure to add it to your watch-list before listening on. Listen to more from Netflix Podcasts.

Of the 2,240 passengers and crew on board RMS Titanic on her fateful last journey, eight were Chinese, all travelling Third Class. Six of those eight survived, an exceptionally high survival rate for any given nationality. Remarkably, four escaped on the same lifeboat as the Titanic's owner J. Bruce Ismay, while another was the last person rescued alive from the water. Those six men were forgotten by history until, in 2020, the film maker Arthur Jones and historian Steven Schwankert joined forces in a bid to track down those men in the historical records and tell their stories. Not only does the research itself tell a fabulous tale, but so too does the history they uncovered. For these Chinese men, surviving the Titanic disaster was not the end of their troubles – it was just the beginning. They faced deportations, slurs on their characters and racial condemnation. As research for the film progressed it became clear that almost nothing was known about these man in their subsequent years and that some may never even have told their families what they had experienced. To find out more Dr Sam Willis spoke with Arthur Jones, Director of The Six. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
High Intensity Weight training is a form of exercise I've been doing for 10 plus years. It originated with Mike Mentzer, Ray Mentzer, and Arthur Jones, and over the years it's been fine-tuned, changed, and improved upon. Modern proponents, trainers and coaches include Drew Baye, Dr. Doug Mcguff, Jay Vincent among others. Join us this week as we discuss High Intensity Strength Training with our guest Richard Chartrand of Sustainable Success. Richard first discovered “high intensity strength training” around 1981, when reading The Nautilus Bodybuilding Book by Ellington Darden PHD. After years of training with a “More is Better" approach Richard began immediately applying these principles to himself. Along the way he ended up competing in and winning or placing in a few natural bodybuilding contests (while strength training less than 20 minutes per week), Almost 40 years later, the scientific evidence has reinforced that these ideas expressed in the writings of Ellington Darden and Arthur Jones were far ahead of their time. Richard decided to pursue his passion of helping people to achieve their optimal physical results by starting his own personal training business. Richard is confident that these methods can help athletes young and old to maximize their performance, but for many of his clients their goal is to “age gracefully” ensuring that their physical independence is maintained well into their golden years.
