Connect with me here! Send me a text message! The other day…I made a video…posted it yesterday. About waking up and not wanting to do my bible reading. I just didn't feel like it. And I kept feeling the nudge to do something else instead… I LITERALLY had to battle myself and force myself to read. Now was it a HUGE  success because I read? Did God literally open the heavens and pour out fresh anointing because of my obedience? No. Could I have been disappointed? Yes…was I? No. Because obediecnce it about the heart and because God asks it of me…not because of what I can get in return. Cause ultimately it isn't about me.There are a small group of us going through the Lisa Trk bible study on Monday's and last night we were talking about King Hezekiah…and how he started out by doing the right things but because he was blessed he then turned it into thinking that HE had something to do with his blessings. He became boastful, proud and super self centered. We chatted about the fact that this is common and relatable. I mean how many times have you tried to take credit for good things in your life that you KNOW God did? I know i've done it..I've got both hands raised right now cause I'm double guilty! It's human nature to make things about ‘me' instead of God or others. That is where choice comes in. The choice to choose reading yoru Bible even when you don't feel like it. Even when the earth doesn't shake or you feel emotional after reading. Toxic thoughts are bad because- neuroscience actually proves that negative events actually imprint on our brains more quickly and linger longer then positive events-Example- what spreads faster on social media? Negative or positive events? What about in the news?The mind governed by the flesh is death but the mind governed by the spirit is life and peace.Romans 12:2"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will." (NIV) Philippians 4:8"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." (ESV)1. Pay attention- what does your thought process look like? Do you find yourself spiraling quickly? Or are you able to catch yourself in the midst of a toxic thought and slow down the spiraling process? 2. Practice gratitude3. Focus on the present- not the past or what is to come- enjoy the moments right in front of you. Worry and anxiety come when we are worreid about tomorrow or stuck in the past4. Actively replace the negative with the positive- this is NOT manifestation- although I believe that was first biblical but the world has twisted it all up. When we are using manifestation to take credit for the things that are happening around us then we are using it the worlds way. We have choices about how we think and act on those thoughts, and maybe we will find success by speaking life over ourselves through manifestation….like I said it's a biblical principle cause God created us and our minds very uniquely,  but ultimately our strongest move will be to partner with God and HIS word instead of trying to do it on our own. What are you going to decide to do with those negative thoughts today? Are you going to partner with them and let them take root in your heart? Something that seems to be a topic that I've heard recently is the idea that we aren't worthy of God's love. First I want to clarify something…you will NEVER truly be worthy on your own..this is where the break down comes in. We TRY to be worthy. We work towards being worthy. We get frustrated with our own striving because it doesn't add up without Jesus! Jesus paid the price so that through HIM we can be ‘worthy' of his presence. How can we partner with this amazing gift?1) Repentance! We should be coming to God with our brokenness, surrendering it to Him.      2 Chronicles 7:14- If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.2) Relationship! I say this alot so i'm sorry if I sound like a broken record but we can't fully understand our worth in Him if we don't know Him well! So let's start out the year with 3 ways to get vision from God, hear Him clearly and walk out the purposes and plans He has for you this year! Submit your ways & plans to Him! Proverbs 16:3 Amplified Bible (AMP)Commit your works to the LORD [submit and trust them to Him], And your plans will succeed [if you respond to His will and guidance]In order to understand submitting, you really need to know the Father well. If you don't know Him then it will be hard to humble yourself in His presence and surrender your dreams for 2025. Knowing God is essential to your growth this year. Once you learn who He is and open your heart and mind to His word, you will begin to hear Him more clearly!! It's  win win! 3. Lastly, know your identity comes from Jesus. That is my whole goal for this podcast, for you to truly know who you are and whose you are! We can do that by implementing #2 but also by affirming who we are through His word! So I wanted to encourage you today to not let the enemy lie and rob you of peace today! Know your worth- stop putting your worth in things like work, what others think, finances- how much you make, how good your kids are etc.2. Know God's heartYou can only know God by spending time with Him. - just like any other relationship in your life. I wanted to encourage you in something today that Holy Spirit revealed to me in my reading this week! Let's read 2 Samuel 5:17Right when all things started to come together for David…he becomes king, builds a palace and is established by the Lord as king- the enemy comes. My Bible reads- when the anointing is finished and the time for kingdom business is at hand, the enemy invariably shows up. Have you ever dealt with this before? Your family is established. Your ministry or business is on the verge of exploding, your marriage is restored, you are walking in the goodness of God and his full identity for your life  and boom the enemy shows up - right on cue!Side note-  He is so predictable that way. Which means we should be prepared at all times for his stupid schemes. And that means getting in to God's word and staying connected to Him at all times!The Pharisees saw that David was flourishing and my guess is they didn't want him to succeed. Maybe-They were trying to burn down his house before he could take theirs. Either way…they come in to try to take what the Lord had built and established. So what does David do?  I love about this, and it's my main point today- let's continue in vs 18-21David had been anointed. David was King over Isreal at this time. David knew that God was with him. He had built a strong palace and kingdom. BUTl he didn't stop going to the Lord for each event. He knew that He needed the Lord to lead Him through each and every battle. He stayed humble before the Lord and that is why he is known as a ‘man after my own heart'- And God gives him victory!! David listens to the Lord and is victorious! Woot!But guess what…the enemy comes back.  And what does David do? He inquires after the lord! Let's start at vs 22-25And the interesting thing is that even though they were fighting the same enemy in the same place, God gave him two strategies. He could have thought ‘well here we are again, I'm going to do what I did last time because it worked and God was with me' and maybe it would've worked because he wasn't necessarily disobeying God BUT instead he obeyed God and He conquered more land than before.  The valley of Rephaim was a few miles of land from Jerusalem. But the second conquest- Gibeon to Gezer was 15 miles!So the point? How are you feeling, what do you need to thrive and not just survive the day?2. Do your daily gratitude- Benefits of gratitude- scientific- boost immune system, reduces stress, anxiety and depression, improves sleep, improves self esteem and the list goes on…. Spiritually- helps us appreciate what we have instead of longing for more(gets rid of comparison real quick!),helps develop the fruits of the spirit, stronger relationships and deeper faith.The bible talks about giving thanks over and over- look up these scriptures- 1 thess 5:16-18, 1 chronicles 16:34, Colossians 3:173. No comparison- so easy to do this when you see beautiful moms all over the internet doing all teh things and you can barely get dinner on the table everyday because you are exhausted from just keeping your little people alive haha But if we really think about what comparison truly is, it's a form of jealousy. Galatians 5:16-214. The few who take advantage of them will rise in their professional, personal, and spiritual lives. Because focus is a precious commodity, and mornings are one of the few occasions in our day where most of us actually have control over how we spend our time.This means- mornings usually don't have as many distractions, right? Especially if we train ourselves to get up before our kiddos.Ps 5:3In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. TPT- At each and every sunrise you will hear my voice as I prepare my sacrifice of prayer to you. Every morning I lay out the pieces of my life on the altar and wait for your fire to fall upon my heart. Ps 143:8- Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should god, for to you I entrust my life. Mark 1:35- Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed. Even JESUS needed to get up and spend time with His father! Connect with me here! Send me a text message! Ok I know what you are thinking….ive been out of routine so I haven't been faithful in my Jesus time recently. I've been out of routine with my kiddos home from school and vacations and what not. I haven't made the time to spend with God and now I'm a loser and feel super bad that I lost that time.  First just stop and listen to the lies you are telling yourself. Don't give in. Today is a new day and you can start fresh with God!! Woot! Brings me to this thought. There is a BIG difference conviction from the Holy Spirit and feeling shame or guilt.How do we know the difference you ask? Well we know the difference when we know Jesus well. And we know Him well by spending time with Him. BUT a good indicator is what are you feeling? Do you feel shame or guilt for not being as on task these past few months? Or do you feel like you desire for more of it and feel promptings to get back into it? Hear and see the difference here? Once makes you feel bad…the other is a calling for closeness. God doesn't shame us into spending time with Him. He draws us close so that we WANT to spend time with Him cause He knows we NEED Him! So…If you are feeling shamed because you have sort of fallen off the wagon with your Jesus time. Remember those feelings are from Jesus! Take those thoughts captive and bring them to Him.  - What's done is done and you can't go back to change it! Bring your regret to God, receive His beautiful grace and move forward with more gusto and purpose! And if you aren't feeling shame then great! BUT you probably are feeling a prompting to get back into routine right? Cause i'm guessing you aren't feeling yourself. You are more snippy or short with your family. Maybe you have sort of isolated yourself from peopling because of your attitude lol  Maybe you have felt more low or lacking purpose. If any or more of those things are happening then it's time to get back your Jesus time friend!Lastly, If you dont even have a desire, or you aren't feeling a prompting, because it's been so long…eeek. Some of this might be the lazy summer but some might be comfortability. Sometimes it can be super exciting that summer is here but it can also be overwhelming and disappointing if you don't have anything planned and you are ‘stuck at home with kdis or stuck at work' Also, your routine may be thrown off a bit because of kids being home and trying to schedule their activities..or maybe you have trips planned and just trying to plan that has got you frazzled…so many emotions when summer hits! Haha So i just wanted to encourage you in a few areas to help you stay on track and consistent in this season so that you don't feel overwhelmed or out of sync! 1) Stay consistent with your routine! Especially your bible study and prayer time!Joshua 1:8: "Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful." This verse highlights the importance of continually meditating on and adhering to God's Word.2) Make time and/or schedule to get out of the house or if you work all day getting out for a lunch walk or being intentional after work.3) Make a summer bucket list!        - ideas: camp in the backyard, nature walk, go to the lake/river, water balloon fight, bake cookies, go to a theme park etc.4) Be intentional and present when it's time to put away work! Seems like such a simple thing but we get trapped in distractions all day and then can feel lost throughout our day. Or maybe that's just me. It's funny actually…this week's podcast is about distraction and it has taken me FOREVER to write this out because I kept getting distracted and not staying focused on the task at hand…ie finishing writing the podcast! Haha Funny how that works. Anyway, I want to give you a few tips and tricks to help you overcome distractions so you can live the abundant life God has for you!What IS a distraction? Television, movies, books…they all provide an escape from our daily lives. There is nothing that says we cannot provide ourselves a little break from reality by being entertained, but when that entertainment gets in the way of our faith, it becomes a spiritual distraction. We need to prioritize what's most important.Distraction =Anything that pulls our attention from God.Eliminate Distractions: Identify and remove sources of distraction.Scripture: "Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you." - Proverbs 4:25Keep your eyes fixed on the Lord!! Last week we talked about staying in your lane! Don't look to the left or right…keep your eyes on Jesus!Avoid Temptation: Steer clear of situations that lead to distraction.Scripture: "Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." - Matthew 26:412. Seek God's Guidance: Regularly seek God's wisdom and direction for your life.Scripture: "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." - James 1:5 Prayer: Regular prayer helps keep us focused on our relationship with God.Scripture: "Pray without ceasing." - 1 Thessalonians 5:173. Whether we were really afraid of something like spiders or snakes OR we were afraid of rejection…fear is a real thing. The cool thing is, is that we can be FULLY free from fear because fear is a tactic of the devil and we are more powerful than him when we tap into the amazing power of Jesus! 1. Realize fear separates you from GodThere is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear… The one who fears is not made perfect in love” (1 John 4:18). God is love and there is no fear in love. So in other words…you can't live in fear AND in God's love. They contradict each other. Taht doesn't mean God doesn't love you BUT when you choose to walk in fear you choose to step out of God's loving covering cause they can't coexist!2. Realign your focus- Shift your focus from your fear to JESUS!Hebrews 12:2- And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.-tell story of brothers racing when they were babies3. Read Scripture aloud! And speak life over yourself.You do not have to be ruled or controlled by fear anymore, friend!! You have to get rid of the I am statementsBeliefs that we attach ourselves to that can cause low self esteem because they CANNOT fill the need we have in our hearts! So we need to STOP these beliefs if we want to have the confidence in ourselves and who God created us to be! 1. I am what I possess- reminder- this is not our home. And everything we have belongs to God. So no more being defined by our things. 2. I am my accomplishments- I've talked about this as well. I went through many seasons of feeling like I had to be accomplished..i still fight this inclination from time to time. Of putting my worth in what I do. How I perform. What I've accomplished. Now of course I”m striving for excellence in all I do.  I'm going to do my best to steward this life that God has given me well! I just have to keep my eyes on Him so that my value and significance comes from being His daughter and nothing else. Make sense?3. I am what other people say- This could go along with the accomplishments. I am a words person. Have you read the love languages book or do you know what your love language is? Well mine are words of affirmation and quality time(almost tied) so what people think matters to me. Now I”m not necessarily a people pleaser but I'd much rather have people happy with me than not! Haha And when people give me compliments it goes a LONG way and on the opposite, when people critize me it takes root and can cause deep wounds if I don't quickly surrender it to Jesus and understand that my worth doesn't come from others! I am what I look like-Ekk this is a hard one for us women because we want to be pretty and it's been instilled in us since we were young that what we look like matters.  I believe we should want to bring God our excellence in all areas of our lives. We should take pride in how we look because ultimately we represent God, our family and ourselves! However, this shouldn't be what we put our value and worth in! God looks at the heart and the most beautiful person is someone who cares for others, loves God with their whole heart and loves and supports their family well. It's obviously a healthy balance right? Find spaces to bring your girly prettiness to the world but also your inside beauty is what counts. How you treat others, how you serve others and your family, how you love God and honor Him first. Overcoming your pastPast mistakes- if you've been here awhile you have probably heard me talking about mistakes I've made. And I've made alot of them. And sadly I still continue to make them because well..i'm human lol I say all this to give you freedom to receive grace from Jesus in your mistakes. The enemy wants us to dwell on our faults…to feel shame and to stay in that shame so that we can't move in to the freedom God has. BUT if it makes you feel any better you will probably make more mistakes to infinity and beyond but God knows this and when we run to Him with our troubles He is there for us. Ephesians 1:7"In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace"So two ways to get over your past- - Bring it to Jesus- He is your healer. You have to bring those mistakes and regrets to the cross, lay them down and let Him carry those burdens for you!  -Matt 11:28-30- Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light -Bring it into the light- the more you try to hide your mistakes the easier it is for the enemy to keep you trapped by it. Nothing great happens in the dark. Bring it into the light.2) Past hurts- church hurt or other hurtHurts, trauma pain from the past can hold you hostage and keep you from living in the fullness that God has for you. Whether someone spoke death over you, you were physically hurt, you were hurt in church, some you truly cared for hurt you…whatever the circumstance, not dealing with it will hinder your walk. And I say that in love. We need to again bring these things into the light and allow JEsus to pick up our broken pieces and make us whole in Him! - Let go and forgive-Bring your hurt to GodRemember you are an overcomer! God IS making a way. God wants you to have an abundant full life in Him. Some of these things feel difficult and your first instinct may be to run and hide cause you don't want to deal…i get that! BUT don't you want more? Don't you want to find peace and joy and be released from the pain? Have you ever felt spiritually dry. Like you are crying out to God and are hearing nothing. LIke you don't really feel anything at all. You are doing all teh right things by going to church or having your regular Jesus time but nothing seems to work. You are losing passion for the things of God because you just feel so dry and stagnant? Well today we are going to talk about a few ways to overcome that!  I'll be giving you some ideas to help you with some scriptures to encourage so that you can reignite your passion for Jesus and the plans that He has for you friend!  If you are ready for that, let's jump in!Quote on the google- Passionate people have an ever-increasing desire to obey Scripture. They want to obey not because it's a command but because they love Jesus. They love his commands and want to honor him.How to keep your passion for Jesus?Change your thinking- fuel your spiritual body as you would your physical body. Fall in love with Him- this take time and intentionality on your part. Spending time with Him and getting to know him through His word, prayer and worship. Admit where you are… it's ok to be in a dry place. There are mountains, valleys, deserts and oasis'....lots of different seasons and we just need to keep plugging away! Is. 44:3-4- For I will pour out water to quench your thirst and to irrigate your parched fields. And i will pour out my Spirit on your descendants, and my blessing on your children. They will thrive like watered grass, like willows on a riverbank. Remember who you are and where God has brought you from- You are a daughter of the King. You have access to God's power and authority through Jesus. You are called, chosen, purposed, loved, forgiven…and much more! Romans 8:28: "And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose"He has good plans for you friend! Some scripture to encourage you today!Romans 12:11-12- Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Ps 57:1-2- I look to you for protection. I will hide beneath the shadow of your wings until the danger passes by.
