Here is PART 2 of our episode with Lauren and Thomas Rhett Akins. If you haven't had a chance to listen to part 1, go back and do that first before you listen to this episode. I want you to get the full story of what God's been doing in their lives over the last year. They continue the story of moving their family to Uganda for 6 weeks. They were obedient in saying yes to God, and yet it was not the perfect trip tied up with a bow. There are still questions they have for God they may never get answers to, but I hope you'll listen for the thread of God's nearness through it all. You may not be sent to Africa for 6 weeks, but where do you see God continuing to ask you to trust Him even when it doesn't make sense? Where have you experienced His nearness when everything around you felt hard? Don't miss the conversation and processing we're going over on Substack this week either. I think the questions we're asking each day this week will really help you look for the places God's asking for obedience in your own life. You can find all of that spirituallystronger.com. You may know Thomas Rhett from his incredible country music career or Lauren from her beloved Live in Love podcast or book, but I want you to get to know (and hear) their deep faith today. When they called me and said, “We want to tell the story of what God did in our lives last year,” I knew we had to share it. As we talk about prayer this month, I want you to hear what perseverance and obedience in prayer looked like in their lives through this story.  Last year, they spent 6 weeks living in Uganda after sensing God telling them that's what they were supposed to do, and it wasn't the trip they imagined. At all. You're going to hear the entire story along with their journey over the last couple years of trying to figure out if they should grow their family (spoiler alert: Lauren is due any minute with their 5th!).  In these two episodes, you'll hear the power of prayer, the way God speaks when we make space to listen for His voice, the reminder that we're never alone, and the reality that obedience to God is never promised to be easy. You're not going to want to miss part 2 coming your way on Thursday.  And remember, head over to spirituallystronger.com today where we're processing what perseverance and obedience in prayer looks like in our lives.   . . . . Bobby talked about how researchers found that men were rated as significantly more attractive when they were seen sitting in an expensive car rather than a cheap car. Lets dive into Postys whirlwind past few days, because this king of genre-bending is serving country realness and future album gold.Kicking off New Years Eve like a boss, Post Malone absolutely slayed a flawless cover of Jason Aldeans Amarillo Sky on Dick Clarks New Years Rockin Eve with Ryan Seacrest in Nashville, according to Whiskey Riff. That unexpected pick had the crowd under those Nashville lights losing it, channeling pure country soul from a track written by Big Kenny, John Rich, and crew back in the day. Impeccable taste, as always, no bad notes from our guy.Fast forward, Channel X94 caught him on a wild Twitch livestream last week, where amid Hunt the Game chaos, Post teased two massive albums dropping in 2026 if everything goes his way. The Andie Summers Show echoes that buzz, reporting industry speculation on up to two projects, leaning hard into traditional country with fiddle, pedal steel, and guitar solos, building off his 2024 smash F-1 Trillion that topped Billboard charts. Hes been stacking collabs with Thomas Rhett, Ernest, and HARDY, penning nearly 35 songs, and insiders whisper one might nod to George Jones vibes while another could be a Jelly Roll duets dream. Country took some wild turns this year, and we sift through every twist with one big question: what actually deserves the spotlight? We kick off by ranking the top country albums of 2025, weighing the case for Tyler Childers at the summit, poking holes in Morgan Wallen's lower-than-expected slot, and making room for Eric Church, Thomas Rhett, and a few traditional voices that feel older than retro yet strangely fresh. Expect strong opinions, sharper jokes, and a running thread about why some records stick while others burn out fast. The conversation opens up when we tackle the greatest male-female collaboration. Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers ultimately take the crown for chemistry and timeless storytelling, but not without a fight from Conway and Loretta, Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks, and even rock-forward duos like Lizzy Hale and Corey Taylor. That debate draws a line between technique and feeling: perfect vocals are nice, but songs that live in your bones win the replay war. We also break down how live-in-studio recording changes everything—from headphone mixes to “more me” monitor boxes—and why capturing a band in motion often beats the sterile shine of overproduction.Episode LinksTom Harding: https://jayfranze.com/episode30/Billie Jo Jones: https://jayfranze.com/episode98/Dalila Mya: https://jayfranze.com/episode102/Send us a text Support the showLinks Jay Franze: https://jayfranze.com/ JFS Country Countdown: https://jayfranze.com/countdown/ Contact Contact: https://jayfranze.com/contact/ Socials Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jayfranze TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@jayfranze X: https://x.com/jayfranze YouTube: https://youtube.com/@jayfranze Services Services: https://jayfranze.com/services/ Books Books: https://jayfranze.com/books/ Merchandise Merchandise: https://jayfranze.com/merchandise/ Support Support: https://jayfranze.com/support/ Sponsor the Show: https://jayfranze.com/sponsor/

Can you imagine? Arresting your favorite singer?” SEGMENT 3: THE SHADE HE THREW Highlight quote: “Please do not play Chris Young. He's terrible.”Hosts react:“He said that?? On camera??”“You know the cop's thinking, ‘This is gold.'”Add the censored version where he calls Chris Young a name.Talk about how awkward that must be:“They're gonna run into each other in Nashville — probably at Losers or Red Door.”“We were half-expecting a funny response video from Chris Young, but nothing so far.”Discussion:Should major artists diss others publicly — even drunk? The fine line between honesty and professionalism.“Truth serum was definitely flowing that night.” SEGMENT 4: THE FAN & ARTIST DYNAMIC Point: The irony — the cop said Morgan was one of his favorite artists and was literally playing his songs as he arrested him.Hosts joke:“Imagine blasting ‘Last Night' while cuffing the guy who sang it.”“Somewhere that cop's telling this story at every barbecue.” SEGMENT 5: LOOKING BACK NOW Reflect on Morgan's year since the arrest:Has he matured?Seems more grounded, more focused on music.“Let's hope the only chairs he's throwing now are into arenas — metaphorically speaking.”Discuss his musical taste from the clip:He liked Hardy, Ernest, and Josh Turner — “Honestly, not bad taste for a drunk guy in cuffs.” CLOSING Hosts wrap up:“Well, lesson learned: Don't drink and throw chairs… and maybe don't diss your fellow country stars on a police mic.”“Still, Morgan's music keeps topping charts, so it seems fans have forgiven him — again.”See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Nashville's songwriting community suffered a devastating loss with the passing of Brett James, a prolific songwriter who gave up medical school to pursue his passion for music. With 27 number one hits among his 500+ released songs, Brett's legacy includes classics like "Jesus Take the Wheel" by Carrie Underwood and "When the Sun Goes Down" by Kenny Chesney. His story reminds us how the unexpected paths we choose can lead to extraordinary impact. We dive into the ongoing story of Farm Aid, Willie Nelson's fundraiser supporting farming communities facing economic pressure. The recent Minneapolis concert featured legends like Neil Young, John Mellencamp, and Bob Dylan, continuing a tradition that has responded to agricultural crises since the 1980s. Similarly, Luke Bryan's Farm Tour celebrates a decade of bringing music to rural America while collecting food donations for those in need. The conversation takes a fascinating turn as we explore artists who sound like others or from different eras. From Lainey Wilson echoing Miranda Lambert to Harry Connick Jr. channeling Frank Sinatra, these musical connections reveal how influence travels through generations of performers. Listeners share their own observations, creating a compelling tapestry of how country music continually evolves while honoring its roots.Current artist updates include Lainey Wilson canceling a show due to vocal issues, Brett Eldredge announcing his holiday Glow Live Tour, and Thomas Rhett expecting his fifth child. This episode of The Other Side of the Bell, featuring our own podcast host and trumpeter John Snell, is brought to you by Bob Reeves Brass. This episode also appears as a video episode on our YouTube channel, you can find it here: "Getting to know John Snell"   Who is the man behind the microphone?   You've been asking for a long time, 12.5 years and 138 episodes in fact, and today's the day: it's time to put John Snell himself on the other side of the bell!   John is the steadfast presence at Bob Reeves Brass, from the shop to the studio to the numerous conferences and events he attends every year. Many of you have met him in person over the years, and with our increasing number of video episodes, you have a better sense for what he's like.   Yet his story has only emerged in bits and pieces over all that time and all those episodes, and warrants the spotlight just as much as any of the wonderful guests who have stopped by the podcast since 2013.   And who better to interview John than the gregariously awesome Vinnie Ciesielski, who was himself a guest on The Other Side of the Bell, Episode #93 back in September of 2021.   Vinnie and John chat about how John grew up to follow in the footsteps of his professional trumpet-playing father, Keith Snell, yet forged his own path through his education, musical styles and interests, before a sudden complete career U-turn that proved to give him another solid professional foundation, alongside his continued passion for music.   And behind it all, for the past 20+ years, there's been Bob Reeves Brass. John talks about first meeting Bob and being taken under his wing, before returning with a law degree in hand to rescue the business, provide stability for Bob and his wife into retirement, and maintaining Bob's principled approach to business and customer service.   Thank you to Vinnie for encouraging the idea and bringing this episode to life, and thank you to all of our wonderful listeners and viewers for your continued support.   Don't forget to share this and other episodes with your friends in the trumpet world and beyond, and send us your thoughts and feedback! This week on “Talk About Las Vegas With Ira,” Ira sits down with rising country artist Dalton Hicks, performing at Stoney's Rockin' Country on August 15. Dalton opens up about the stories and grit behind his latest single, "Day By Day"—a song shaped by his rough life, self-reliance right after high school, and a “get up and keep moving” philosophy. He shares how picking up a guitar at 17 turned a dream of becoming a marine biologist into a career as a songwriter and performer—without any studio backing. Raised a self-described “redneck,” Dalton was first inspired by his grandmother's church music, even though it wasn't country. In 2019, he released his debut song, and his first online hit,"I'm Still Here," put him on the map. In this conversation, Dalton talks about his first-ever Vegas performance, his two-year bond with his band (including the funny tattoo story of how they met), recording in Nashville versus the rush of a live audience, his admiration for Thomas Rhett as a family man, and his ultimate dream—to one day stand on the Grand Ole Opry stage. He's not chasing fame—he's chasing the chance to motivate people through his music. And when he's on stage, this “country boy” pours his whole heart into every note. (Also Watch Full Podcast Video)

Get access to FREE mixing mini-course: https://MixMasterBundle.com My guest today is Jamie Tate, a Grammy and Emmy Award-winning recording engineer, mixer, producer, and the owner of The Rukkus Room in Nashville, TN. Jamie's career in the studio world began as an intern at The Sanctuary Recording Studios, where he worked his way up to chief engineer. After The Sanctuary sold, Jamie honed his craft while working around the clock at Abtrax Recording Studios. By 2004, with 18 months of clients already booked, he took the leap and founded The Rukkus Room, which has since become one of Nashville's most iconic recording spaces. The Rukkus Room was designed by Gene Lawson of Lawson Microphones and is one of the last remaining purpose-built recording studios in Nashville. Spanning 8,000 square feet across two separate buildings, it offers unparalleled isolation for recording. Shortly after opening, Jamie recorded Jack Ingram's #1 single “Wherever You Are” and several other top-five hits, cementing the studio's reputation as a go-to destination for legendary and up-and-coming artists alike. Jamie has mixed and recorded music for a stunning array of artists, including Thomas Rhett, Taylor Swift, Dustin Lynch, Jerrod Niemann, Maddie & Tae, Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, Alison Krauss, Miranda Lambert, John Prine, Rhett Akins, Sheryl Crow, Brooks and Dunn, and many more. His work has been featured on platinum-selling records, chart-topping singles, and critically acclaimed projects across genres.
