Offering a gateway destination for new craft beer drinkers is arguably one of the most important things any beer scene can possess, and thankfully Ontario has Beertown. Jen Tamse jumps back on the pod to catch us up on what's been happening with Beertown in the 18 months since she was last on, their epic 12-location tap takeover with Bellwoods, how she thinks about her collaboration beers, her approach to structuring their beer menu, her trip to Belgium to brew a collab with Brasserie Huyghe (Deliria), the legend of Mikkeller's Beer Geek Breakfast, the sheer value of what Beertown brings to Ontario, she tells the story of becoming a Belgian Beer Knight, and the importance of Untappd. They got into four impeccable beers that had a direct tie-in with Beertown - Bellwoods x Beertown Beer Belly Pale Ale, Short Finger x Beertown French Fuse Saison, Brasserie Huyghe Deliria (2024), and Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast (brewed in Ontario by Craft Brand Co.). This was epic - cheers! BAOS Podcast Subscribe to the podcast on YouTube | Website | Theme tune: Cee - BrewHeads

Chris is sipping a Ghost Orchid IPA from Bellwoods and waxing lyrical about Nelson Sauvin hops. Also telling a potentially apocryphal story about why NS is such a limited hop. And complaining about having a sore face after a little shoulder/face collision on the rugby training pitch. — — — — Theme: Link Ray Gun by The Currie Bros https://thecurriebrothers.bandcamp.com/album/we-are-the-currie-brothers TBP on Insta @TorontoBeerPodcast (does what it says on the tin).
Chris is getting into a lovely Monogamy Mosaic from Bellwoods, and trying to shake his head back into post-holiday reality. — — — — Theme: Link Ray Gun by The Currie Bros https://thecurriebrothers.bandcamp.com/album/we-are-the-currie-brothers TBP on Insta @TorontoBeerPodcast (does what it says on the tin).
Ben and Chris chat with Carmen Vicente, the Head of Marketing for Bellwoods Brewery in Toronto, about the path from brewer to marketing, developing a brand voice, chasing limited edition Milk Sharks, and why she doesn't really get to name beers anymore. We also debate pools, kids with pierced ears, and going topless. Sit down, strap in, and hold on, because this is going to be one heck of a ride. Continuing Belmont's Belgain Beer Month, Chris is unwinding after a pretty crummy day, with a spontaneously fermented beer from the truly delightful folks at Bellwoods, and it's absolutely amazing. — — — — Theme: Link Ray Gun by The Currie Bros https://thecurriebrothers.bandcamp.com/album/we-are-the-currie-brothers TBP on Insta @TorontoBeerPodcast (does what it says on the tin).

Week 3 of Link Up brings one of the GOAT breweries in Ontario to the table - Bellwoods Brewery! If you're a long-time listener, you'll know how passionate Cee is about Bellwoods, so this was an exciting episode for us. Tiff and Cee hung out with Co-Founder Luke, Head of Marketing Paige, and Marketing's Danysha to hear about their amazing CCIC (Community, Culture, & Inclusion Committee) initiatives, how they've been able to successfully focus on diversity in their staff, and their advice to other breweries looking to do the same. We drank their amazing Link Up Double IPA, which boasts Citra, Loral, Mosaic and Simcoe hops. This was a super insightful conversation - cheers! About the Link Up season: We're back with a brand new season of BAOS Podcast, and this one is something very special and very close to us. We'll be focusing this entire season on Link Up, a non-profit started by the good folks behind Microbrasserie 5e Baron in Aylmer, QC and Tiffany and Cee here at BAOS and High Season Co. Our aim with this program is to help BIPOC from underrepresented communities learn about and enter the craft beer industry in essentially any area they wish - from a brewing apprentice to taking the Cicerone course for front-of-house opportunities, from hop farming to the yeast lab, from beer media to design and photography, we're here to help diversify an industry that is in dire need of it. This week Cooper and Nolan have their claws out for CATWOMAN, which might just be the worst superhero movie from an era of exceptionally bad superhero movies. Blame it on missed opportunity; what could have been a credible, action-packed story of female empowerment instead became a CGI-filled laughingstock. No wonder it brought home four Razzie Awards (including Worst Picture)! It's a truly terrible movie, so sit back and enjoy as the guys rip it to shreds - all while enjoying a beer from Bellwoods Brewery.
Chris is drinking an absolutely delicious Jelly King with Raspberry and Blackberry from Bellwoods brewery, talking about colour names, and also giving some insights into fasting, whether you're a spiritual person, or just somebody looking to learn another language.
Ben and Chris chat with Mike Clark and Luke Pestl of Bellwoods Brewery about the real estate gambles that got the ball rolling for their company, the fate of that other location (and that other, other location), making beer that gets international attention, and the polarizing milkshake IPA.
Our first dry hopped sour ever on the show, and we're looking at 4 different flavors!
Our first, but not our last Bellwoods brew. Does this shark leave a mark?
This week, the guys get blessed by the presence of Luke Pestl. Luke owns what many would say is the best brewery in Canada and it was a blast talking to him, particularly on our home turf in Milo. After addressing the obvious question of how he wound up in Piscataquis County with his wife and three children, we get into a wide variety of topics like his history in beer, Bellwood's philosophy. and what makes Canadian beer culture unique. Luke shares a ton of insight on the value of food in a brewery, maintaining company culture, and grinding to become the best beer maker in the world. The fact that he does this all so well in the face of Noah's excessive use of the word "kinda" and Matt's even more excessive Drake questions is a true miracle.
In this episode Robin (@thebeardedguidetobeer) and Ryan (@hops_and_fitness) Try out the new Fizzy Blaster from Bellwoods Brewery in Toronto. We talk about the album "To Pimp a Butterfly" by Kendrick Lamar. The guys highlight the IG BrewCrew and talk about the past and upcoming brew dates in our new section highlighting Ontario IG Beer folks. Top 5 lists this week: Top 5 IPAs and Top 5 Producers Enjoy!
Ok friendos welcome to EP 29 of the show! This one is a real ripper and we've got the scars to prove it. To start off with we try two wildly different beers: A märzen from Red Collar brewing and wild ale blend from Bellwoods Brewery out in Toronto. Our album deep dive is the 2012 debut album from Brooklyn hipsters Hospitality. We chat about it's charming as heck pop constructions and articulated millennial angst. Tristan gets the name of one of the songs wrong pretty much every single time and he begs forgiveness. For movie time with Tristan and Mick we take a stroll down memory lane and watch the anime masterpiece Macross Plus. We don't so much as analyze its themes or narrative choices as we do gush about how awesome it still is. New and noteworthy from Jakob Ogawa, Kelsey Lu, Haley Heynderickx, and Kindness. Find the show on itunes or spotify. rate and subscribe to stay up to date on all of our EPs and let us know what you think. To listen to all the tracks we discuss find our EP29 playlist on Apple Music. For more content from the show follow us on Instagram and Facebook. Thanks for listening and have a great day!
In this episode Robin and Ryan review Double Jutsu from Bellwoods Brewery and the album Illmatic by Nas. We also talk about our game changing beer moment that moved us from Macro to Micro. We talk about the loss of Nipsey Hussle and the impact had on the rap community and his local community and the new purity seal that Steamwhistle launched for their canned beers. We will also review our top 10 Hip Hop artists.

For our 50th episode, we figured it had to be special, and what better way to see in half a century of podcasts than to link with Luke Pestl, Co-Founder of our most talked about brewery, Bellwoods. We hung out at the new(ish) Hafis Rd. space, drank some incredible beers and chatted mostly about all things haze. Thanks for all the support and getting us to 50 episodes, y'all. Cheers! Season 1, Episode 6 - This week, we dive into some tasty farmhouse ales, first from Bellwoods Brewery, and then a fun From the Cellar segment featuring Prairie Ale from Prairie Artisan Ales, finishing up with a session of the always fun Guess That Brew. Bellwoods Brewery – Farmageddon We start off this week with Farmageddon from the not-well-known (to us, at least) Bellwoods Brewery in Toronto, Ontario. We alienate some Canadian fans, mix up our accents, and contemplate peaches. We really, really enjoy the beer, too. Plus, Steve Jobs is dead. Feature: From The Cellar For our first true From the Cellar segment, we taste a delicious Saison from Prairie Artisan Ales – Prairie Ale. We have a fresh bottle side-by-side with a bottle aged for about a year, and we do some fun contrasting and comparing. Prairie Artisan Ales – Prairie Ale Feature: “Guess That Brew!” Finally, we bring back the reverb for a game of Guess That Brew! We have a beer with no slut fruits, John loves and hates this game, a beer that definitely isn’t Orange Wheat, and Jason gets another bullseye. Cheers, and we’ll see you next week!
