Any brewery that opened in 2020 deserves respect for making it through one of the toughest times in human history to open a brand new business. One such brewery is Aylmer, QC's 5e Baron, a two-time winner of our Quebec Brewery of the Year. Co-Founder Jacob Barrette joined Cee and Nate to catch up on what's been happening since his last pod appearance for 5e back in late 2020, he touched on their emphasis on lagers and West Coast IPAs, their unique approach to beer, why they're so impeccable at every style they attempt, how they've engaged their local community, why representation in beer is important, and his love of English and Belgian beers. They got into five amazing brews - Des Moines Helles Lager, Céleste New England Pale Ale, Route 66 American IPA, Winter Walks Double West Coast IPA (collab with NathanDoesBeer), and Lucide Dream (Sumatra) Breakfast Stout. The third entry in Link Up's Series 4 sees us swing back to Ontario with the legends at Elora Brewing! We drank their fantastic 3% Link Up English Mild Ale, full of caramel and toffee notes, and it's insanely crushable. A fantastic conversation, enjoy! Lost Craft were one of Ontario's first-ever BIPOC-owned craft breweries, and long-time listeners will know that they're close friends of the show, so it was key for us to bring them in for week 4 of Link Up's Series 3. Tiff and Cee sat down with Founder Shehan De Silva to chat about what it was like being the "only one in the room" back in 2015 when he started, whether he has faced microaggressions and racism in the beer industry, how they managed to tap into a diverse consumer base early on, and how breweries can do the same organically and authentically. We cracked their Link Up Dry-Hopped Sour, a 4.8% gem with Galaxy and Vista hops in a dope stubby bottle, bursting with stone fruit, crisp green apple and tropical vibes. This one was an important episode - cheers! About the Link Up season: We're back with a brand new season of BAOS Podcast, and this one is something very special and very close to us. Week 3 of Link Up brings one of the GOAT breweries in Ontario to the table - Bellwoods Brewery! If you're a long-time listener, you'll know how passionate Cee is about Bellwoods, so this was an exciting episode for us. The second drop of Link Up's Series 3 comes from Kingston, ON's Fine Balance Brewing, and while they're still less than two years old, they've already been making some serious noise in Ontario's craft beer scene. Tiff and Cee hung with Founder Andrew Silver and cracked their gem of a Link Up brew, a juicy 5.5% Pale Ale with Citra, Citra Cryo and Vic Secret hops. They chatted about their quarterly dedication to giving back and how Link Up was a crucial part of that, the community groups they work with to diversify their team, and how they can get the attention of the wider community.
