In this episode of the NEGOTIATEx podcast, Bryan Price discusses the transition from academic to leadership development, critiquing current training for lacking hands-on experience and being limited to high performers. He advocates for “Green Platoon”-like, low-stakes training environments in corporations to build skills without the fear of failure. He emphasizes structured, measurable programs, like those at the Buccino Leadership Institute, and advocates for internal development over outsourcing. Bryan also extends these strategies to athletic training, emphasizing mental resilience for high-pressure situations and ongoing mental updates, akin to software upgrades, for personal and professional growth.

The San Francisco Giants' coaching staff under new manager Bob Melvin has finally been finalized. When the Giants announced most of their staff late last week, there were some notable omissions: they didn't having a pitching coach nor a bullpen coach. Today, those positions were officially filled. Bryan Price, longtime MLB pitching coach and former Reds manager, will be the SF Giants' new pitching coach, and Garvin Alston will be promoted from Triple-A to be the Giants' bullpen coach. In other news, today was the deadline for teams to add players to the 40-man roster to protect them from the upcoming Rule 5 Draft. The SF Giants made a somewhat surprising move by adding RHP Trevor McDonald, who's only pitched as high as A-ball. LHP Erik Miller and RHP Kai-Wei Teng were also added and figure to be in the pitching mix next season. The legacy of the late Peter Seidler is discussed last. Seidler, the owner of the San Diego Padres, died today at the age of 63. It's news that sent shock waves throughout the industry. Seidler is beloved in San Diego for putting his money where his mouth was after becoming the majority owner of the team after the 2020 season. The Padres have added all kinds of star talent since, and even though they didn't have a very good 2023, they still set a franchise record for attendance. RIP Peter Seidler, gone too soon.Find and follow Locked On Giants on your favorite podcast platforms:

At last year's General Managers Meetings, Farhan Zaidi was a popular interviewee as the industry anticipated the San Francisco Giants' president of baseball operations to make a serious run at reigning AL MVP Aaron Judge in free agency. The Giants did in fact pursue Judge and other marquee players last winter, but once again came home empty handed.Well, those meetings are back underway, and Zaidi did share some of the SF Giants' plans for the winter. Once again, like last offseason, Zaidi talked about the Giants' desire to get younger and more athletic. Last year, the Giants and Zaidi didn't really follow through on that promise, unless you count all of the minor league callups throughout the season. But free agent signings such as Michael Conforto and Mitch Haniger didn't really fall into that category and both had disappointing seasons. One player who did not have a disappointing season was Giants rookie catcher Patrick Bailey. Bailey was so good defensively that he probably deserved to the the Gold Glove Award at the position, but he was snubbed despite being a finalist, which is an honor in and of itself. Bailey was the best framer in MLB and his pop times were exceptional. The potential coaching staff under new SF Giants manager Bob Melvin is also discussed, with names like Matt Williams and Bryan Price being floated with regularity. Zaidi said the Giants' staff under Melvin should be finalized this week.Find and follow Locked On Giants on your favorite podcast platforms:

It's double the guests, double the good stuff on today's very special episode of The Mindset Coach Academy Podcast! Today, I am thrilled to be joined by two Mindset Coach Academy graduates, Bryan Price and Tammy Barlette, for this month's expert interview! Both of these incredible human beings are badasses in their own right with a common history in military service. Bryan served as a Lieutenant Colonel and an Attack Helicopter Pilot while Tammy served as a Lieutenant Colonel and Fighter Pilot. Drawing from their individual experiences in the military, we dive into topics like pre-flight jitters, nerves, perfectionism, failure, and handling pressure. AND the very important skill of mistake recovery because, as Tammy puts it, you can't pull over in a cloud! They share a fascinating, behind-the-scenes look at the mental side of high-risk roles in the military with sharp, clear takeaways that will stick with you. As natural leaders, self-made experts, and living examples of what they teach, both Bryan and Tammy are some of the most impressive humans I've ever met.
