Today on the I Am Dad Podcast, we are honored to welcome three phenomenal scholars and thought leaders who have dedicated their careers to reshaping the narratives of fatherhood: Dr. Brianna P. Lemmons, Dr. Tasha Alston, and Dr. Latrice Rollins. Collectively, these trailblazing researchers have transformed the way we understand Black fatherhood, family dynamics, and father-inclusive policies. Dr. Brianna P. Lemmons is an assistant professor at Baylor University and the Founder and President of the Black Female Fatherhood Scholars Network, where she uplifts Black fathers through research, education, and training. Her work explores the predictors of non-resident African American father involvement and the impact of fatherhood on child well-being. Dr. Tasha Alston is an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and a leading voice in fatherhood research. With expertise in social work and educational psychology, she has spent over 25 years uncovering how fathers influence child development, maternal health, and family well-being. She is the author of African American Fathers' Involvement in Their Children's Education and co-editor of Health, Parenting, and Community Perspectives on Black Fatherhood. Dr. Latrice Rollins is an assistant professor at Morehouse School of Medicine and the director of the National African American Child and Family Research Center. A Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Culture of Health Leader, her work focuses on father engagement in health and human services. As the editor of Engaging and Working with African American Fathers and Health, Parenting, and Community Perspectives on Black Fatherhood, she is at the forefront of advocating for policies that strengthen father-inclusive practices. These three powerhouse scholars are not only shifting research but also influencing policy and practice to ensure that Black fathers are recognized as vital contributors to their families and communities. In this conversation, we'll explore their research, their personal insights, and how we can collectively work to challenge stereotypes and empower fathers everywhere.

It's a timely and important conversation that explores how these selective inhibitors could provide effective pain relief without the addiction risks and side effects of traditional opioids. In addition to the social and medical implications of Latigo's work, we discuss investor perceptions about pain management as a commercial opportunity and how Latigo is differentiating from traditional approaches by focusing on safety and tolerability rather than just efficacyThe 2025 BoB@JPM series is supported by Alston & Bird, whose national health care and life sciences practice has more than 100 attorneys actively involved and integrated across the full spectrum of legal disciplines including regulatory, compliance, public policy, transactional, corporate governance, securities, FDA, biotechnology, intellectual property, government investigations, and litigation practice areas. ...in which we visit the far northeast of Cumbria to explore the remarkable history and remains of the Nenthead lead mines. In the company of geologist and Nenthead Mines trustee Pete Jackson, we learn about the earliest mineral prospecting in the area, where 'the old men' sought out lead in becks, waterfalls and, latterly, artificial hushes. Arriving at a centuries-old stone leat – still flowing – we consider the unusual addition of flag coverings, and nature's steady reclamation of spoil heaps. Entering the hill at Carr's Level, we consider the boom years of the London Quaker Lead Company, and the values that gave rise to social housing and an early form of sickness pay. Moving deeper into the mines – and through the evolution of extractive technologies, from hand-picking to dynamite – we proceed to the great depression that made Nenthead a truly European operation, where British, Italian, French and German miners mixed, mined and lived together. We end our journey atop the mind-blowing 300-foot Brewery Shaft, where Pete describes the five-mile subterranean canal – once a tourist attraction – that links Nenthead to Alston. Jim Gilliam was a terrific infielder for the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers for 17 years. After starting his career in the Negro Leagues, he followed in the footsteps of his idol, Jackie Robinson. Signed by the Dodgers, like Robinson, he was sent to Montreal to play for the Royals. After a few seasons, he found his way to Brooklyn and was named Rookie of the Year in 1953. Gilliam, a favorite of Dodger manager Walter Alston, was called the ultimate team player. No matter where Alston needed him to play, Gilliam was up to the task. He was a terrific fielder and a career .266 hitter. Interestingly, though, Gilliam was always on the trading block and rarely got an opening day start because the Dodgers always thought they had someone better. But they didn't, and through it all, Gilliam was one of the most reliable infielders the team ever had. He played in seven World Series for the Dodgers and won four of them. He was so integral to the Dodgers' success that twice he was called out of retirement to help the team. After his playing days were over, Gilliam stayed a part of the organization by serving as a coach and was a member of three other Dodger teams that went to the World Series. In fact, Gilliam was so important to the franchise that his No. 19 was retired by the team. On this episode of Sports' Forgotten Heroes, Steve Dittmore, author of "Jim Gilliam: The Forgotten Dodger," joins for a wonderful discussion about Gilliam, the challenges he faced, his career, and so much more.

Basket sewers today are following in the footsteps of our ancestors by keeping the skill alive and broadening its appeal. Of course, like all things, there are challenges. With time and development, just like cultural land being erased, so are the fields where the sweetgrass grows.
