As White Sox spring training continues to plug along, fans hear more and more about the initiatives of first time manager Pedro Grifol. He has emphasized culture and chemistry while also focusing on fundamentals. Could Grifol be the difference maker? Will he be the reason this team is successful in 2023? It's too early to tell but fans seems to like what they have seen and heard so far. The Sox have tough decisions to make when it comes to certain roster spots, specially with regards to the utility/bench roles. Romy Gonzalez, Leury Garcia, Hanser Alberto, Gavin Sheets, Billy Hamilton and Victor Reyes are all vying for essentially three spots. Who's in and who's out? Tim Anderson talks about Jose Abreu's recent comments regarding the 2022 team. Anderson agrees with Abreu that the Sox were not a family and Anderson believes that's why it's so very important for the Sox to come together sooner rather than later. Locked On White Sox - Daily Podcast On The Chicago White Sox
The process of cultivating a new culture for the Chicago White Sox might start with familiar faces. We know that new manager Pedro Grifol has already started surrounding himself new a coaching staff that features many familiar faces from his Kansas City days. Grifol has some familiarity with new left fielder, Andrew Benintendi, and the White Sox recently brought fan favorite Billy Hamilton back into the organization. Much like Benintendi, Hamilton spent some time in Kansas City. Speaking of Benintendi, he continues to work on improving his swing as he seems to focus on the process and let the results speak for themselves. A healthy 2023 will hopefully mean a spike in power numbers for Benintendi and all White Sox sluggers. If Pedro Grifol has a say in the matter, what area of need will the White Sox look to address next? More outfield depth or will the White Sox finally look to adding a veteran second baseman? Maybe free agent Jean Segura? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Built Bar Built Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Introduction: Host Michael Rand goes "micro" on a couple of fringe moves by the Vikings and Twins on Thursday. First, he takes note of the Vikings' decision to keep rookie punter Ryan Wright instead of veteran Jordan Berry. How does it impact kicker Greg Joseph, who had Berry as his holder all of last season? Plus the Twins signed veteran outfielder Billy Hamilton to a minor league contract. Rand wonders why the Twins didn't make any sort of outfield depth move even sooner. 10:00: Wild General Manager Bill Guerin joins the show with a free-flowing conversation from the State Fair. Guerin touches on the dicey offseason situation involving Kirill Kaprizov, how he and head coach Dean Evason have changed their postgame communication and expectations he has for young players trying to stick on this year's roster. 27:00: Wolves forward Taurean Prince was arrested Thursday; former Minnehaha Academy standout and No. 2 overall pick Chet Holmgren is going to miss the entire NBA season with a foot injury.

Clarke County Democrat Southwest Alabama and particularly Thomasville, mourned the passing of longtime football coach Bill McNair two weeks ago. McNair spent 34 years as a head coach, amassing a 246- 128-1 record. In Alabama he had a 188-75 record. He spent nine seasons at Clarke Prep as offensive coordinator for football as well as coaching basketball. “He loved the kids and they loved him,” Billy Hamilton, former CPS Head Football coach said. “They enjoyed being around him and learning from him.” During those nine seasons, the Gators won four state titles with McNair calling the offense. “His first year...Article Link

February 2022, life takes me to Kauai, HI for a nice vacation stay in the North Shore. Few weeks prior to arrival I do a quick brainstorm session on who might be in the Hawaiian Garden Isle that could be a great guest for my podcast, maybe 15 seconds into my brainstorm session I thought "wait isn't Billy Hamilton from Kauai?!"A quick internet search provided a phone number for Bill. I left a voicemail and 24 hours later I was speaking to the man himself, the legend, The Matador.A date and hour was set and I had an interview with one of the most influential surfers of any generation. Surfer Magazine in 1985 mentioned BH in an article as one of "25 Surfers Whose Surfing Changed The Sport" as referenced on EOS https://eos.surf/ Unfortunately, Billy and I had some time constraints, we had an hour and change to talk months worth of surfing history, surfboard design and personal surf anecdotes. I had to cherry pick carefully what we were to talk about, what topics would my audience prefer to hear?, what questions would lead to interesting and insightful answers from a surfing legend? The day came and I had a list of questions and topics as I usually do for my interviews and I knew the list was way too vast to conduct in an hour, so I opted anxiously, to just let the interview unfold and let it be. Well, my attempt to relax a bit and let the surf gods take care of business actually made me more stressed. I was to be dropped off at Billy's place by my party that consisted of my wife, our 7 month old baby and friends. The Crownovers sensed my tension and stress leading to the interview, because it was obvious. To give context and justify my behaviors to our non-surfing friends from the the Midwest who happen to be basketball fans, I told them I was about to interview the.....Kareem Abdul Jabbar of surfing, a legend of legends. They understood.Upon arrival, Billy welcomed me with plenty of aloha and an ice cold brewski, good to settle down and hit the record button. We had a good conversation that I hope you guys enjoy. I had my occasional brain fart and some language speed bumps but all in all, I am stoked with our interview. WFNY's Michael Hattery and Jim Pete discuss the Indians' outfield concerns heading towards the trade deadline. They discuss the main Indians' target as the July 31st deadline looms, including Joey Gallo, Derek Dietrich, Billy Hamilton, and Curtis Granderson. While Gallo is an interesting long-term addition, there's a possibility that the Indians could attach reliever Keone Kela to the deal, which would really lock the Indians bullpen in. Jim also picks Mike's brain regarding the Indians minor league system, and they take a quick look at some quick risers, why Triston McKenzie is someone worth trading for the right piece, and how the lower tiers of the Indians' system is the foundation for the next window. Oh, and there's Luis Oviedo talk. If you don't know about Oviedo, you should. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Chad Dotson and Jason Linden got together again this week for another rousing episode of the Redleg Nation Radio podcast. The guys began by following up on last week's glorious discussion about the possibility of Nick Senzel as the potential starting shortstop of the Cincinnati Reds. Quickly, however, the discussion moved on to Joey Votto's recent comments that something has to change soon with this rebuilding process. Winning starts now? Finally, should we be panicking over manager Bryan Price's first spring training lineup, featuring Billy Hamilton as the leadoff hitter? (Short answer: no.) Truthfully, there wasn't much news, but there were plenty of rumors, especially surrounding the potential trades of Billy Hamilton and Adam Duvall. We also have some questions about manager Bryan Price's “announcement” that he has already settled on the top four guys in his 2018 pitching rotation. Music for this episode provided by Freekbass.
