Welcome back to The Freaky Deaky, friends and fiends, this week we're diving into part one of what is sure to be an ongoing foray into the realm of little folk. I've spent a great deal of time combing through cultures all over the world, and was absolutely astounded by the sheer volume of lore that surrounds these beings. It seems that practically every single culture around the globe has some kind of intriguing tale about little people. In part one we'll be taking a peek into the Duendes of the Philippines, The Aluxes of Mayan culture and Leprechauns and fairies from the Celtic side of things. Stay tuned til the end for a glimpse into which cultures we'll be looking into next week in Part 2. I can honestly see this being upwards of a 10 part series in the future. There is truly so many different names for these entities, and a lot of them bare some striking similarities. It'll be fun to unravel over time. But for now, we're diving into Duendes, Aluxes and Leprechauns in just a moment. Wee people, fairies, fae, fairfolk are a few names for fairies. As you can tell by the title, fairies are primarily from Celtic countries but other countries have something similar but tonight we're concentrating on the Celts. Fairy is a broad category encompassing fairies, elves, trolls, brownies, leprechauns, etc. and they aren't all cute, sweet little creatures. Some of them can be a bit vindictive, and there are some that are mischievous. Pranksters if you will. We did stay on topic for once this time, with no rabbit holes. But I enjoy rabbit holes sometimes. Tonight's cocktail: The Green Fairy-absinthe, water, lemon juice, egg white, and angostura bitters. Shake with ice, and strain into glass. Celtic lore is filled with crazy supernatural events and phenomena that seem just too out there. But, what if it wasn't as "out there" as we thought? In this episode, we look at Will O' The Wisp, the tiny ball of light that, legends say, lure people into the woods, never to return. Cauldrons — cooking vessels — have been part of the human experience and have captured the human imagination for a very long time, from the ancient Celtic cauldron myths to Shakespeare's archetypal vision of three crones and their bubbling brew to the cauldron cults of the African diaspora. But far more than a simple vessel, the cauldron becomes in many cultures synonymous with larger internal and external processes — with the alchemical journey of the transformation of the soul, with yoga, with consciousness, and ultimately with the universe itself. Today on The Emerald, we look at cauldrons, inner and outer.Support the show (http://www.patreon.com/theemeraldpodcast)

In times of yore, their presence was seen and felt everywhere in the Natural World. They spun the moon, made flowers grow, and springs gush forth. They were natural allies of both animals and man. The stories of the goddesses have been kept alive for thousands of years . Ayn Cates Sullivan brings them to life for this generation, capturing their stories and shedding a new light on their passions and purpose.
