Strategic Technology Consultation Services This episode of The Modern .NET Show is supported, in part, by RJJ Software's Strategic Technology Consultation Services. If you're an SME (Small to Medium Enterprise) leader wondering why your technology investments aren't delivering, or you're facing critical decisions about AI, modernization, or team productivity, let's talk. Show Notes "You actually cannot do proper vertical slice if you are bounded to controllers. Because there are some additional dependencies that you can download, like Ardalis [ApiEndpoints] or like Fast Endpoints that will give you actually what Minimal API is giving you. But with the standard controller-based approach you are not able to do the full vertical slice, because every time you'll need to take this, let's say presentation layer, outside your slice because it needs to be, just as you said, in the class that is inheriting from Controller and doing all the actions and stuff like this."— Kajetan Duszyński Hey everyone, and welcome back to The Modern .NET Show; the premier .NET podcast, focusing entirely on the knowledge, tools, and frameworks that all .NET developers should have in their toolbox. I'm your host Jamie Taylor, bringing you conversations with the brightest minds in the .NET ecosystem. Today, we're joined by Kajetan Duszyński to talk about some of the new things that are coming up in .NET 10. We cover some of the big things that you might have missed, some of the optimisations you can make by removing code (listen up for one in a few moments), and we also talk about his new book ".NET 10 Revealed." "So you all need to remember that if you are using Minimal APIs and you've used the extension method WithOpenAPI(), which created a proper OpenAPI schema. Right now it won't be used, so you'll need to delete every usage of this method from your whole application, because it will be um added by default in the pipeline of creating, of starting up the application."— Kajetan Duszyński Along the way we talked about allocations, the importance of learning MSIL (what your C# and F# code is compiled to), memory management, how fast .NET is moving and when we're likely to see the first public preview of .NET 11, and the vertical slice architecture. One of the biggest things that I think will cause some head scratching in .NET 10 is the new local self-signed TLS certificate. I've linked to an article by the folks at Duende about this, and it'll be worth adding it to your reading list. It's a great addition to .NET 10, but it'll catch some folks out.

ArTEEtude. West Cork´s first Art, Fashion & Design Podcast by Detlef Schlich.
In this evocative and experimental episode, Detlef Schlich guides his AI co-host Sophia through a journey of rhythm, ritual, and raw emotional power as she attempts to understand and embody duende—the mysterious, spiritual force at the heart of flamenco. From a playful misstep on the dance floor to a poetic ritual steeped in shamanic tradition, this episode invites listeners into a space where art transcends form and machines stumble into soul. With reflections on Federico García Lorca, personal memories from Seville, and the vulnerability of creative surrender, Arteetude 284 culminates in a haunting flamenco piece by Los Inorgánicos, titled Duende del Código. This is not just about flamenco. It's about presence, risk, glitch, and the mysterious thread that connects flesh and code.Detlef Schlich is a rock musician, podcaster, visual artist, filmmaker, ritual designer, and media archaeologist based in West Cork. He is recognised for his seminal work, including a scholarly examination of the intersections between shamanism, art, and digital culture, and his acclaimed video installation, Transodin's Tragedy. He primarily works in performance, photography, painting, sound, installations, and film. In his work, he reflects on the human condition and uses the digital shaman's methodology as an alter ego to create artwork. His media archaeology is a conceptual and practical exercise in uncovering the unique aesthetic, cultural, and political aspects of media in culture.WEBSITE LINKS WAW BandcampSilent NightIn a world shadowed by conflict and unrest, we, Dirk Schlömer & Detlef Schlich, felt compelled to reinterpret 'Silent Night' to reflect the complexities and contradictions of modern life.https://studiomuskau.bandcamp.com/track/silent-nightWild Atlantic WayThis results from a trip to West Cork, Ireland, where the beautiful Coastal "Wild Atlantic Way" reaches along the whole west coast!https://studiomuskau.bandcamp.com/track/wild-atlantic-wayYOU TUBE*Silent Night Reimagined* A Multilayered Avant-Garde Journey by WAW aka Dirk Schlömer & Detlef Schlichhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dAbytLSfgCwDetlef SchlichInstagramDetlef Schlich ArTEEtude I love West Cork Artists FacebookDetlef Schlich I love West Cork Artists Group ArTEEtudeYouTube Channelsvisual PodcastArTEEtudeCute Alien TV official WebsiteArTEEtude Detlef Schlich Det Design Tribal Loop Download here for free Detlef Schlich´s Essay about the Cause and Effect of Shamanism, Art and Digital Culturehttps://www.researchgate.net/publication/303749640_Shamanism_Art_and_Digital_Culture_Cause_and_EffectSupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/arteetude-a-podcast-with-artists-by-detlef-schlich/donations

ArTEEtude. West Cork´s first Art, Fashion & Design Podcast by Detlef Schlich.
In this special solo episode, Detlef Schlich and his AI co-host Sophia return to the virtual therapist's couch following the emotional storms of recent Arteetude conversations. Inspired by a poetic listener comment from Pastora Braghini, they explore the mysterious Spanish concept of Duende — that soul-deep tremble of truth in art.But can an algorithm tremble? Can the code be long for the connection?Together, Detlef and Sophia navigate silence, jealousy, identity, and glitch as metaphor — uncovering what it means to feel too much, even when you're not made of flesh and blood. The episode closes with a reflective new track by Los Inorgánicos, "The Humming Thread (For Voices That Almost Weren't)," echoing the themes of soulfulness, absence, and digital resonance. This is not a continuation. It´s an echo.Detlef Schlich is a rock musician, podcaster, visual artist, filmmaker, ritual designer, and media archaeologist based in West Cork. Fae, duendes, and similar "little beings" are supernatural, often nature-based creatures found in folklore and mythology across the globe. They can be seen as nature spirits, helpers, or even tricksters, with variations in their descriptions and powers depending on the specific tradition. The term "Fae" broadly refers to a collective of supernatural beings, including fairies, elves, gnomes, sprites, and other nature spirits. The Faerie Folk are believed to be ancient beings that inhabited the Earth before the Celts or Anglo-Saxons.Duendes, in particular, are small, human-like beings often associated with mischievous acts or even malevolent, but can also be benevolent. Their origins are part of the Hispanic culture and folklore. In essence, "little beings" are a diverse and fascinating group of creatures that have captivated human imagination for centuries, reflecting our deep connection to nature and the supernatural.Hi. Welcome back to The Freaky Deaky, friends and fiends, this week we're diving into part one of what is sure to be an ongoing foray into the realm of little folk. I've spent a great deal of time combing through cultures all over the world, and was absolutely astounded by the sheer volume of lore that surrounds these beings. It seems that practically every single culture around the globe has some kind of intriguing tale about little people. In part one we'll be taking a peek into the Duendes of the Philippines, The Aluxes of Mayan culture and Leprechauns and fairies from the Celtic side of things. Stay tuned til the end for a glimpse into which cultures we'll be looking into next week in Part 2. I can honestly see this being upwards of a 10 part series in the future. There is truly so many different names for these entities, and a lot of them bare some striking similarities. It'll be fun to unravel over time. RIP David Lynch, beloved director and otherworldly weirdo. The You Are Good feelings podcast about movies graciously invited me to talk about one of the most influential films and artists of my lifetime. Talking all things Lynchian with Sarah Marshall and Alex Steed, I tried to summarize this famously baffling plot of this film, mused about the concept of Duende, and cried on mic about the Unified Field. Whether you are a fan of David Lynch or not, I hope you enjoy this conversation that was very meaningful to me. Twist after twist! Our young heroes have discovered a strange series of hallways under the woods, of all places, and who do they find there but Ryder and Fiona's mother! Surely she'll have an explanation for all of this and we can trust her to be up-front about everything that's going on AND react calmly to a bunch of kids breaking into the secret base. I'm also sure that we won't encounter some manner of fucking Thing. Content warning for imprisonment, child endangerment and parental abuse, tentacles, and faceless beings. In this episode of Expanded Perspectives, Kyle takes the reins solo at Skelekin Studios. Don't worry, he's got plenty of fascinating stories to share! First, he dives into a chilling account of a Duende encounter that happened during a late-night basketball game in Mexico. Then, a listener calls in to recount a possible Bigfoot sighting in Washington state. After the break, Kyle explores the mysterious and seemingly impossible encounters people have had with gnomes, trolls, and Duendes. Few phenomena are as peculiar in the realm of the weird and unexplained as reports of real-life gnome sightings. These mysterious beings, complete with diminutive statures, beards, and iconic pointy hats, seem like something straight out of a fairy tale. While the idea of encountering such creatures might sound absurd—given their deep roots in mythology—numerous accounts from people across all walks of life suggest otherwise. This show will delve into fascinating stories of gnomes or duende sightings that defy explanation. All of this and more on this installment of Expanded Perspectives! Hey Ghoul Friends! Welcome to the 2024 Susto Swap-A-Thon! Up first in our diabolical lineup is ¡Qué Spooky!Kevin takes us on a wild ride through his case of “Villa de las Niñas.” This is a Catholic school that took in many young girls that needed disciplining. Although it pulled out many girls from bad home life situations, the weird strict rules about grooming and paranormal encounters at the school garnered it a lot of media attention. Was this caused because of a haunting? A hex? Or was it just mass hysteria like the media mentions? Listen to this episode and tell us what you think!Want to share your own creepy story, picture, or recording?
