Over a quarter of the way through the season and Arsenal open up a 7 (at time of recording) point gap at the top of the league. I could get used to this! Join Holly, Stef and Chris as we look back at (yet) another routine win, this time away at Burnley. Plaudits for Gyokeres, Trossard, Rice and Nwaneri, not to mention the defensive prowess of the entire team - that's ONE (debatable) shot on target against in our last 4 league games! We also look ahead to the Slavia Prague trip on Tuesday, where the biggest issue will be selecting a starting 11 from the available players. 0:48 - Memorable Moments in FootballIn a conversation about unforgettable football moments, Ross Jackson emphasizes the significance of Tottenham's Champions League semi-final against Ajax. He describes the initial despair after Ajax's early goals and the subsequent thrill of Tottenham's comeback, culminating in a last-minute victory. Michael Wright shares his own experience of watching the match and the communal excitement it generated.4:25 -Teamwork in SportsMichael Wright expresses his preference for teams that demonstrate strong teamwork, referencing the emotional intensity of high-stakes matches. Ross Jackson identifies Bournemouth as a model of teamwork in football, emphasizing their collective effort and aggressive pressing style. He contrasts this with individualistic play, noting that true success comes from all players working together.8:14 -Overview of Ross Jackson's Football Journey and Brazilian Football CultureRoss Jackson discussed his background, including his relocation to Brazil and his initial experiences in scouting and coaching while in Portugal. He highlighted how teaching English to football professionals in Brazil led to opportunities in scouting, particularly with the sporting director of Slavia Prague. Jackson noted the significance of understanding the football environment in Brazil, especially for young players from impoverished areas.11:45 -Youth Football Culture in BrazilRoss explains that Brazilian children, particularly those from lower-income areas, often play football in informal settings, hoping to be discovered by scouts. He contrasts this with wealthier children who may pursue football alongside academic opportunities. The culture surrounding football is deeply ingrained, with kids dedicating hours to play and develop their skills, often inspired by players like Neymar.22:05 -Scouting Brazilian Football TalentMichael Wright asked Ross Jackson about the characteristics of young Brazilian footballers, especially those who stand out as potential difference makers. Ross highlighted that while many wingers possess exceptional 1v1 skills, the intensity with which they play is crucial for their success abroad. He noted that players who lack this intensity may struggle to progress in their careers.30:12 -Understanding Cultural Fit in Player RecruitmentRoss Jackson highlighted the complexities of recruiting Brazilian players, particularly regarding their cultural adaptation to life in Europe. He shared insights on how he evaluates players by engaging with them directly and consulting with agents and coaches. Michael Wright contributed by discussing the pressures faced by young players, particularly those from challenging backgrounds.40:57 -Insights on Pressure and Preparation in FootballRoss highlighted that young players like Endrick often experience minimal pressure when starting their careers in Europe, as they are given time to adapt. However, once they join the national team, the expectations and media scrutiny intensify. Michael pointed out that the current Brazilian squad does not match the caliber of previous teams, which compounds the pressure on players. Both speakers acknowledged the cultural differences in how pressure is perceived in Brazil compared to England. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Welcome Tee-Jay.Nigerian striker Muhamed Tijani was the second player to join the club in the summer of 2024.Growing up in West Africa, Tee-Jay idolised Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney. He was always the best in his school and dreamed of one day playing in Europe. Those free-scoring school days led to that dream move, where the sun and comforts of home was replaced by the cold and rain of Banik, Czechia – but it was the place to be for Tee-Jay. After a couple of loan spells and a fruitful under-20 World Cup, one of the big boys, Slavia Prague came calling. The self-confessed lion was beginning to roar.A season of good form and new experiences followed before the lure of one of his childhood heroes came calling. Wayne Rooney and Plymouth Argyle the destination for the big man from Nigeria. This is the story of Muhamed Tijani.

We're back for another episode! Michael, Antoni & Greg talk through the Greek clubs recent results in Europe. With Pedro Martins era over, Olympiakos start life under Carlos Corberan progressing to the Europa league Play-offs winning on penalties against Slovan Bratislava, whereas Aris & Panathinaikos European campaigns were short lived, both eliminated by Maccabi Tel Aviv & Slavia Prague in the Conference League 3rd qualifying round. This now sees Olympiakos the sole Greek team to fight for Greece's coefficient points. The panel also give their thoughts on the change of captaincy at AEK with Sergio Araujo now wearing the armband, and discussed Greeks Abroad performances and potential transfer movements of Hatzidiakos and Pelkas.
Your number one Greek Football podcast is back for another season! We kick off the first episode with Michael on hosting duties accompanied by Greg, Apostolos & Antoni to review the action of the 1st Leg European results for Olympiakos, PAOK & Aris. A disappointing Olympiakos settled for a 1-1 draw to Maccabi Haifa in Israel in their Champions League 2nd round qualifier, while in the Conference League 2nd round qualifiers PAOK put up a abysmal display against Levski Sofia losing 2-0 away from home & Aris with a huge 5-1 win over FC Gomel in Thessaloniki, practically qualifying for the next qualifying round. The results add up to 375 points towards Greece's coefficient point & sit in 16th. We hope for better results in the 2nd Leg matches & help boost our coefficient. The boys also briefly touched on Panathinaikos and their expectations, the fourth Greek team in Europe and yet to start their journey who will face Slavia Prague in the Conference League 3rd round qualifiers.
Ian Stone is joined by James McNicholas, Art De Roche (eventually) and late substitute Tayo Popoola to discuss Arsenal's Europa League tie against Slavia Prague. There's much talk about trusting the process, Cedric's right foot, Laca's two left feet, Arsenal the sleeping giant, and just how well we'd do if we got to the Champions League anyway. The wizard Kanu gets his turn on the Random Arse Generator. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
