In this 1984 adaptation of the Stephen King short story, a bunch of kids kill all of the adults in a small farm town in Nebraska. Instead of partying and doing normal kid stuff, these kids get real passionate about corn and the upcoming harvest. We discuss our old school field trips and possible exploitation of the Amish, Jennie thinks all gingers look alike, and Amye passionately tries to clear Stephen King's name.Show Notes:To sign up for our Patreon feed, download the Patreon app or visit www.patreon.com/genxthisiswhyFollow Gen X, This is Why on Facebook: facebook.com/genxthisiswhy/Join our Facebook Group, The Me-Me B's for extra content, giveaways, and some fun Gen X introspection: facebook.com/groups/genxthisiswhy/And find us on Instagram at: @genxthisiswhyYou can find Amye at: @amyearcherwriterYou can find Jennie, but good luck with that.Questions? Young Gatling residents Eli and Joshua are orphaned after their younger brother kills their father. However, the terror of Gatling goes urban when the two boys are placed in the custody of two foster parents in Chicago. Will they be able to leave the terror behind them? Comedians Derek Gonzalez and Pockets Graham join Zac this week for another horror-filled trip to the hood. Adoption has never gone so wrong as in the third of this film franchise inspired by Stephen King. A clueless couple takes in two murderous children from a cult in Gatlin, Nebraska, and moves them to Chicago in an attempt to assimilate them with society. A cornucopia of tyrannical supernatural rage, sacrilegious mutiny, incestual undertones, and an array of hit-or-miss special effects, this film delivers on every level. It's Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest from 1995, directed by James D.R. Hickox.FOLLOW THE SHOW!Zac AmicoInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/zacisnotfunny/Pockets GrahamInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/impockets/Twitter: https://twitter.com/impocketsDerek GonzalezInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/officiallyderickgonzalez/Twitter: https://twitter.com/thiskidaclownThe newest 15 episodes are always free, but if you want access to all the archives, watch live, chat live, access to the forums, and get the show five days before it comes out everywhere else - you can subscribe now at http://www.GaSDigitalNetwork.com and use the code ZAC for a 14-Day FREE Trial and save 15% on your subscription to the entire network.Check out https://www.PodcastMerch.com/ZAC to get EXCLUSIVE Zac Amico merchandise (including the Amico 666 Shirt seen on the Joe Rogan Experience!)

This Podcast contains Spoilers. Come on down to the wide, open spaces of rural Nebraska this week. The NtF squad is heading to a small town called Gatlin to interview this new religion run by, of all things, children. It should be fine though. Kids are pretty friendly towards Outlanders right? Friends, it should be noted that this movie is NOT The Village of the Damned like Billie AND Luke thought it was. But we dive back into the world of Stephen King and his take on religious zealotry, ill-defined supernatural beings and all the corn you can shuck. The Brides are back for season 2! This week, we get lost in Gatlin, Nebraska, and try to make even a little bit of sense out of the 1984 adaptation of Stephen King's Children of the Corn. Over the course of a purely chaotic hour we wonder who put Linda Hamilton in those unforgivable khakis, pick at the plot strands that go absolutely nowhere, and marvel at the clearly 35 year old 'stunt chest' in the church scene. Also, did you know that this film was supposed to be a metaphor for the Iranian revolution? Because we definitely didn't! Let's be honest - this movie is trash, but man, did we have fun trashing it. Here's to season 2, and better movies to come! Children of the Corn. 1984. Directed by Fritz Kiersch. Written by George Goldsmith. Starring Peter Horton, Linda Hamilton, John Franklin, and Courtney Gains

Chris & Kelsey shine on in a field of nothing but stupid, old corn. The Classic Film: Children of the Corn II: The Final Sacrifice (1992) "A journalist and his son travel to Nebraska to investigate the mysterious town of Gatlin where, unbeknownst to them, a murderous cult of children are still waiting in the cornfields” (IMDb.com). This is not a good sequel, but we were surprised by just how much fun we had watching it. The Modern Film: Doctor Sleep (2019) "Years following the events of The Shining, a now-adult Dan Torrance must protect a young girl with similar powers from a cult known as The True Knot, who prey on children with powers to remain immortal” (IMDb.com). Doctor Sleep has the unenviable job of walking the tightrope between following on from Kubrick's version of The Shining and staying faithful to the King books, but it manages to pull it off with aplomb.
