Letitions are a variation of the commonly used and understood petitions but are immensely more powerful. Geelong's Robert Patterson is the man behind letition.org and this powerful process is endorsed by some powerful people, including the Australian Captial Territory Senator, David Pocock. Many in the Geelong community had embraced the idea of the letition as is illustrated in one of the city's newspapers. The letition.org website says: "Is it a system? Yes. Is it a tool? Yes. Is it available to all? Yes None of that's novel – so why should you sign up?The Letition system is a movement. It embodies our united stand for the environment, amplifying our concerns in a chorus that cannot be ignored. A clarion call from the larger community. Letitions are the modern Open Letter: A collective call to action with the urgency of a personal message. Each Letition serves as a direct line to our elected representatives in Canberra, each one reflecting the collective will of the voters right from their local communities, their constituencies - the people they ultimately answer to.  Every month, they receive several Letitions delivering a unified message on different aspects of climate concerns, demanding attention and action.Every Letition is counted, and the results are published. The aggregated voices are not only heard by you, the community, they echo through the halls of Parliament, reaching every MP and their staff. This transparency fosters accountability and personal responsibility among our leaders. It was never going to be easy to win the battle with evermore fossil fuel developments, but we must keep building the momentum and pressure. Letitions are effective because they are local, specific to each politician and that politician's voter base, but also wide-reaching – speaking to issues that impact across all constituencies. Every month, we must persist in sending one or two Letitions to their local Member and their Senators. We are one voice, powerful together. The movement is gaining momentum. As more and more people consistently send Letitions every month, the movement, and its voice and impact will grow even more. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/robert-mclean/message

This appendix episode features two bushfire stories from Australia's early colonial life. One of the earliest bushfire narratives, William Howitt's short story Black Thursday, is an adaptation of his own reporting on the fire disaster of the same name. Black Thursday (February 7, 1851) was perhaps the first great fire disaster in settler Australian history. Although no official records exist, it is estimated that almost a quarter of the Victorian colony was burned. Howitt's literary account is partly a revision of his own reporting that drew together different newspaper accounts to present a sensational report of unprecedented destruction. Howitt's narrative is ultimately a tale of settler endurance that features protagonist Robert Patterson successfully navigating the difficulties of bush life. Nonetheless, he draws heavily on these journalistic accounts for both the narrative setting and the description of the fire itself.Ria: A West Australian Story is notable as the only representation of a woman fighting a bushfire at the fire-front, rather than within the boundaried perimeter of the property or directly outside the homestead. This story presents the opportunity for discussion of gender norms and the gendered politics of fire-fighting Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Since his debut in Detective Comics #27 in 1939, Batman has remained one of the most iconic and enduring superheroes in popular culture. Over the years, various actors have donned the cape and cowl, bringing their unique interpretations to the character. The question of who is the best Batman has sparked passionate debates among fans and critics alike. This essay seeks to explore the merits of different actors who have portrayed the Dark Knight and present a nuanced perspective on the best Batman. Dishonorable mention , George Clooney, Val Kilmer and Robert Patterson just didn't cut the mantel for this role.  Don't be me wrong I love George Clooney in from dusk till dawn.  It was a stretch from his usual arrogant roles, but I liked it but….. not so much for the batman role, Bruce Wayne Possibly, eh but as Randy Jackson has so eloquently put it, That's a no for me dog.  Val Kilmer, Dammit Ice you can be my wingman but his performance as the caped crusader just fell short of the Runway and well, Bye.  Lastly Robert Patterson, eh, I just didn't feel him in the roll.  First of all Batman should be a big dude but he was built more like cat woman, Lo Siento Senor, No disrespect please don't me, I don't want to be a vampire. The question of who is the best Batman is a matter of personal preference, and each actor brought something unique to the role. Adam West's campy charm, Michael Keaton's brooding intensity, Christian Bale's dedication, and Ben Affleck's grizzled veteran all contributed to the legacy of Batman in their own ways. The best Batman ultimately depends on the qualities and aspects of the character that resonate most with each individual fan. Rather than seeking a definitive answer, it is more appropriate to celebrate the diverse interpretations of Batman and acknowledge the character's enduring appeal across generations and media. Batman's ability to adapt to different contexts and storytelling styles is a testament to his status as one of the greatest superheroes of all time. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/according-2-b-matthews/support

According to an ongoing lawsuit, Mayor Lori Lightfoot has claimed she has the biggest dick in Chicago! She claimed, "My dick is bigger than yours and the Italians. I have the biggest dick in Chicago!" This was during an argument where Lori was demanding to tare down Christopher Columbus statues in 2020. Hahaha. Once we found this story we had to talk about it of course! We also discuss how Oregon has declared racism a public health crisis... cause that makes sense (intense sarcasm). Michael shares how he wants to get back to stand up comedy now that the pandemic is over... but most of the comedy clubs in Portland are run by far left extremists who are probably in ANTIFA. We cover Biden's retarded State Of The Union and Biden's executive order banning buying oil from Russia. Then we rip Steven Colbert for his arrogant and disgusting statements regarding rising gas prices across the nation. On a non political note, we delve into a story about a real mermaid fossil that has been uncovered and we discuss the significance of it's discovery. Towards the end of the pod, Ryan shares his thoughts on the new The Batman movie starring Robert Patterson. Lastly, we nerd out on Marvel, sharing our excitement for the new Dr. Strange Multiverse of Madness movie with Tom Cruise possibly playing a new Iron Man! We talk about all this and more in this week's episode of the Walk And Roll Podcast!---------------------SOCIAL--------------------Michael
