Was the Poltergeist curse real, or did the world get Heather O'Rourke's story wrong for 38 Years? On February 1, 1988, Heather O'Rourke died at twelve years old. For nearly four decades the world has filled that silence with rumors. She Was Here, the new documentary produced by Brian Pocrass and directed by Nick Bailey, is the first authorized account of what actually happened, told by Heather's mother Kathleen, her sister Tammy, and the people who knew and worked with her.In Episode 279, Christian sits down with producer Brian Pocrass to talk about how She Was Here came together, what it cost to earn the trust of a grieving family that had been burned by Hollywood for nearly four decades, and why he believes Heather's death was completely preventable. Brian is a USC Film School graduate with fifteen years in the entertainment industry who later became an attorney. He calls this his first documentary. At the heart of She Was Here is a question Brian poses to himself as a producer: how much oxygen do you give a lie? Heather's death from a misdiagnosed intestinal condition, treated as Crohn's disease, became, in the tabloid press of the late 1980s, the foundation of what came to be called the Poltergeist curse. Brian's film is a working filmmaker's answer to that question, anchored in legal depositions, family archives, and the testimony of the people who loved her. It is also, as he tells Christian, a film about loss.IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:Why Heather O'Rourke's family broke nearly four decades of silence to participate in She Was HereHow a misdiagnosis took Heather's life at twelve, and what her mother wants every parent to know about medical decisionsHow the Poltergeist curse rumor started, and why Heather's family is finally telling the real storyWhat it actually takes to earn the trust of a grieving family that has been burned by Hollywood for thirty-eight yearsWhy Brian Pocrass, a USC Film School graduate, returned to filmmaking after a fifteen-year career and a transition to lawHow Brian used his legal background to read sealed depositions from the 1991 lawsuit and uncover the real storyWhy directors like Gary Sherman and stars like Craig T. Nelson and JoBeth Williams broke their "Heather Shield" silence for this filmThe first-hand account of the Poltergeist III set explosion in Chicago, told by an eyewitness who was thereHow Brian defines the "illusion of documentary filmmaking" and the rhythm that holds a non-fiction story togetherThe Steven Spielberg interview Brian could not get, and why he is willing to talk about it publiclyThe documentary Brian could not stop thinking about, his DocuView Déjà Vu pickCHAPTERS00:00 Her Death Was Completely Preventable: The Heart of She Was Here00:29 Welcome to Documentary First with Christian Taylor00:52 Meet Brian Pocrass: USC Film School Grad and She Was Here Producer02:25 The Childhood Crush That Fueled a Documentary07:11 The Tipping Point: Why Brian Made the Film09:48 Earning the O'Rourke Family's Trust After an Initial No12:40 The Full Circle Moment: Setting Heather Free14:52 Did Heather's Mom and Sister Feel Heard15:27 Craig T. The cause was septic shock from an acute bowel obstruction, ultimately traced to a congenital intestinal abnormality that had been misdiagnosed as Crohn's disease. The misdiagnosis is the central tragedy of She Was Here — producer Brian Pocrass calls her death "completely preventable" with the correct diagnosis and a simple surgery. The film's authorized account ends decades of conspiracy speculation about her death. Is the Poltergeist curse real? The "Poltergeist curse" is a tabloid-era rumor that grew from the deaths of four Poltergeist trilogy cast members across the 1980s. Heather O'Rourke's family, who appear throughout She Was Here, reject the curse narrative as a painful misrepresentation of their daughter and sister. The documentary presents the authorized medical and legal record: Heather's death was a misdiagnosed congenital condition, not a curse.Where can I watch the Heather O'Rourke documentary? She Was Here is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. The 85-minute documentary was released on February 24, 2026, distributed in the United States by Virgil Films Entertainment and internationally by Indiecan Entertainment. It is directed by Nick Bailey and produced by Brian Pocrass, Reese Eveneshen, and Avi Federgreen. What is the She Was Here documentary about? She Was Here is the authorized biographical documentary of Heather O'Rourke, the child actress who played Carol Anne in the Poltergeist trilogy and died at twelve in 1988. Nelson, JoBeth Williams, Zach Galligan, Gary Sherman, and Heather's mother and sister. Paranormal Activity, found footage horror, demonic hauntings, and the nightmare of being watched while you sleep take center stage in this episode of Cutting Deep into Horror, as Henrique Couto and Rachael Redolfi dig into the low-budget movie that turned a bedroom doorway, a static camera, and a few impossible noises into modern horror history. This week, Henrique and Rachael discuss Paranormal Activity, the 2007 found footage supernatural horror film written and directed by Oren Peli, starring Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat. The movie follows a couple who begin filming their home after a disturbing presence seems to become more active at night, and that simple setup helped turn the film into one of horror's biggest micro-budget success stories. AFI lists Oren Peli as director, writer, cinematographer, and editor, with Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat in the cast; Box Office Mojo lists the estimated budget at $15,000 and the worldwide gross at $193,355,933.Henrique and Rachael get into why Paranormal Activity still feels eerie, why its bedroom-camera setup works so well, and how the movie weaponizes waiting. This is not glossy haunted house horror. It is a movie about small sounds, weird behavior, relationship tension, and the terrifying idea that something may be standing in the room while you are asleep.Inside this episode:• Why Paranormal Activity became a found footage phenomenon — Henrique and Rachael talk about the film's perfect timing, its word-of-mouth power, and how its low-budget realism helped make it feel scarier than more polished studio horror.• Katie and Micah's relationship as horror fuel — The episode digs into the uneasy dynamic between Katie and Micah, including how Micah's ego, skepticism, and need to keep filming make the haunting feel more personal and more frustrating.• Less-is-more supernatural terror — From bedroom shadows to long silences, tiny movements, footsteps, doors, and nighttime dread, the conversation looks at how the film turns minimal effects into maximum tension.• The power of found footage believability — Henrique and Rachael compare Paranormal Activity to other found footage movies, including Cloverfield, while discussing why roughness, improvisation, and simplicity can make horror feel more immediate.• The ending and alternate endings — The episode covers the final escalation, Katie's possession, Micah's fate, the psychic's warning, and why the last image is so important to the film's impact.• Why the movie still matters — Whether you think it is terrifying, overhyped, or somewhere in between, Paranormal Activity helped reshape mainstream horror and proved that a scary idea, executed with discipline, could hit harder than a monster in full view.Where to watch Paranormal Activity in the U.S.:Currently, Paranormal Activity is listed as streaming on Paramount+, Paramount+ via Amazon Channel, and fuboTV. It is also listed for digital rental or purchase through Fandango at Home, Apple TV, and Amazon Video. Paramount+ also has an official movie page for the film. With its grimy industrial design, corporate paranoia, and unforgettable creature work, Alien remains one of the most influential horror films ever made.Where to watch: Streaming on HBO Max and HBO Max Amazon Channel; rent/buy on Amazon Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home.• Stranger Things 4, Volume 1 premieres on Netflix — May 27, 2022Hawkins gets darker, scarier, and more traumatic as Vecna drags the Netflix hit fully into supernatural horror. Haunted memories, cursed visions, floating bodies, and the pop-culture resurrection of Kate Bush helped make Stranger Things 4a massive streaming horror event.Where to watch: Streaming on Netflix.• Drag Me to Hell opens in the U.S. — May 29, 2009Sam Raimi returns to horror with a wickedly funny, gross, and vicious curse story starring Alison Lohman as a loan officer who makes one cruel choice and pays for it in demonic consequences. Drag Me to Hell proves PG-13 horror can still be wild, disgusting, scary, and unforgettable.Where to watch: Free with ads on YouTube; rent/buy on Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home.• Wrong Turn opens in the U.S. — May 30, 2003A bad detour, a car accident, and a nightmare waiting in the woods helped turn Wrong Turn into a durable 2000s survival horror staple. This backwoods cannibal thriller taps into the primal fear of being lost, hunted, and far beyond help.Where to watch: Streaming on Prime Video and Prime Video with Ads; rent/buy on Amazon Video and Apple TV.• Deep-Cut Spotlight: Ma opens in U.S. theaters — May 31, 2019Blumhouse turns a basement hangout into a trap with a smile as Octavia Spencer gives Ma its creepy, uncomfortable power. Filmmaker Jared Isaac's debut feature, An Autumn Summer, is currently in theatrical release in select cities ahead of its digital release on June 9 on Apple TV and all major VOD platforms, including Vudu and Fandango at Home. Recently featured in Deadline, the coming-of-age romance stars Sing Street and Wayne actor Mark McKenna alongside Shrinking breakout Lukita Maxwell, who also stars in A24's upcoming Backrooms. The film follows Kevin (McKenna) and Cody (Maxwell), a young couple spending their final summer before college in a magical Northern Michigan lake town, chasing the feeling of an endless summer in the eve of adulthood, and was cinematographer Brandon Somerhalder's debut narrative feature film, whose work on The Queen of Basketball won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short in 2022, and whose 2026 documentary Come See Me in the Good Light received an Academy Award nomination for Best Documentary Feature. Their collaboration captures the wistfulness and emotional uncertainty of transition in calm, serene fashion. Semi-autobiographical in nature, the story draws from Isaac's own close friendships and formative summers spent in Northern Michigan. The film premiered on the festival circuit to strong audience and critical response, including a Best Director win for Isaac at the 2025 Phoenix Film Festival, before its Chicago premiere at the legendary Music Box Theatre on April 23, featuring a post-screening Q&A moderated by acclaimed filmmaker Joe Swanberg. The venue held special significance for the Chicago native, who grew up watching films there. Jared recently adapted Zane Grey's Riders of the Purple Sage for Samuel Goldwyn Films and is currently developing narrative projects on the horizon. In our conversation, we discussed Jared's journey of independently bringing his first feature to life, the value of casting and how that can enable intuitive chemistry between actors, crafting the film's dreamlike montage sequences, lessons learned from working on Spike Lee's Chi-Raq, as an actor, and a disco feature he has written — including the actor he believes is perfect for the lead role.Opening Credits: Ketsa - My Deal I CC BY 4.0; Black Ant - 5 Piece I CC BY 3.0. Scream 7, the latest installment in the franchise has gone viral since the release but this time, it's a new Ghostface who is on the mission to kill Sidney and seems to be hardcore about it making the movie a solid entry that improved the series with some nostalgic moments. The movie has been described as a devilish roller coaster ride that satisfies both laughter and scares. Stab, you're it! I had the pleasure of sitting down and speaking to Kyle about his role in the newest installment of the Scream Universe. We spoke about what the audition process was like, the concept behind his character, the atmosphere of the set, what it was like to be directed by the original creator of the franchise, and to work alongside Neve Campbell. Now that Cyle has joined the cast, he is now a part of two separate clubs: “Killed by Ghostface” Club and the “Opening Kill” Club. Which certainly paves the way for this young and talented actor's career in which I feel will definitely resonate with the younger generation. Although we do not witness Aaron's kill on screen, there's the possibility that he might be brought back in another film from the Scream Franchise. Let's cross our fingers and bring Cyle back to the universe. You can now buy or rent Scream 7 on YouTube, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Google Play Movies, and Fandango at Home.

It's Die Hard in Mother Russia! Well pals, it's finally here…the final episode! We started with the original DIE HARD, we've covered 80 subsequent films that were influenced by it in some way, and so it only seems fitting to booked this project with the fifth and final DIE HARD film that we'll be covering in this episode. But…we're also going a step further than that. Because to honor the culmination of the show we have a very special guest…a multi-talented director, producer and screenwriter, whose extensive credits include such films as 48 HRS, COMMANDO, THE RUNNING MAN, RICOCHET, DIE HARD 2 and of course the original DIE HARD…Mr. Steven E De Souza!Aging New York cop John McClane travels to Russia in search of his estranged son Jack (Jai Courtenay) only to discover that Jack is entangled with a complex espionage plot, wherein corrupt politician Viktor Chagarin (Sergei Koslesnikov) plains to railroad imprisoned billionaire and whistleblower Yuri Komarov (Sebastian Koch) in a rigged trial, unless Komarov turns over a mysterious file. When Komarov refuses to give up said file, the courthouse is attacked and blown up by well-armed mercenaries. Jack escapes with Komarov in tow, only to encounter his dad – John McClane himself - during the apparent extraction attempt, which is soon revealed to be a clandestine CIA operation. With the delicate mission now in jeopardy, father and son must team up to fight the bad guys who are now after them both, working through their estrangement issues in the process. The guys talk about the original DIE HARD film, the series as a whole, and where and how it may have gone astray as a franchise. Steven provides his unique opinions about what makes a good sequel versus a bad one, and regales the boys with stories of his work on DIE HARD and DIE HARD 2. Their wide-ranging discussion encompasses all manner of topics relating to the DIE HARD films, his career as a whole, and action cinema in general. As always the show ends with the final editions of the Die Hard Oscars and the Double Jeopardy Trivia Quiz, before the boys sign off with an emotional mailbag section, where they read a variety of the best letters sent in by listeners of the show, from all around the world.TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SQ0IzY0YrYAt the time of release, A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD is available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV/iTunes, YouTube, Fandango and all the usual platforms! "Demo[N]" puts an inventive spin on the screen life horror subgenre by cleverly merging the familiar webcam format with the unsettling world of a cursed video game. This unique premise helps distinguish the film, and once the demonic activity begins, it effectively builds a palpable sense of suspense. For dedicated fans of the genre, however, it brings enough new ideas to be worth a watch. It was great to sit down with Angharad and Gary to understand the concept behind the film. I for one, am not into video game / possession genre but this movie was produced well, the acting is phenomenal, and it just straight up scared the crap out of me. Both Angharad and Gary delivered their performances exceptionally well and I am thoroughly impressed with this film. I give it two thumbs up and 4.5/5 – check it out, I highly recommend it. Now available for streaming on Fandango at Home, Tubi, YouTube, and Apple TV.
Pulp Fiction is described as landmark America crime film directed by the great Quentin Tarantino, released in theaters October 1994. It follows the story of two hitmen, a prizefighter, a gangster's wife and a pair of bandits crossing paths in a twisty, blood-soaked journey through the seedy heart of Los Angeles. This blend of a non-linear narrative, witty dialogue, and violence leaves fans in a choke hold.Currently, Pulp Fiction (1994) is streaming on Pluto TV as well as Paramount+, YouTube, and Amazon Prime Video with a premium subscription. It is also available to purchase on Apple TV, Google TV, Fandango at Home, and on physical formats.Make sure to show us your love and support by subscribing/following at Pizza My Mind Podcast and leaving a rating and review on your favorite podcast platforms like Spotify, Apple Podcasts, iheartRadio, and Amazon Music.Music Credits:Downtown Walk by | e s c p | https://escp-music.bandcamp.com/Music promoted by https://www.free-stock-music.com/Creative Commons / Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0)https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/

A 1960s film that examines dissatisfied suburban living, mid-life crisis and the yearning for youth and freedom. I think it's vastly underrated which is probably something both of my genuinely amazing guests agree with. (Apologies for not offering more of a counterpoint to this view!) Next episode we take a dive into the 1966 François Truffaut science fiction film Fahrenheit 451. The film is very annoyingly tough to get hold of on streaming platforms but can apparently be found on Fandango and you can search the Just Watch website to check where it might be available in your region. You can buy the DVD quite easily for not extortionate prices in many places. There do seem to be dodgy websites that also have the film but obviously I would never encourage you to search for such things.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is a brilliantly executed film that dares to re-imagine the life of one of America's most iconic presidents through a supernatural lens. It succeeds with a story that is both audacious and surprisingly compelling, making it far more entertaining than I ever anticipated. It stands arguably the best period vampire film of its kind we're ever likely to get. In a genre where genuinely, fun films can be a rarity, this one is an absolute must-watch.Come vamp out with Alex and I as we speak about her role in the box office hit about vampires and the Civil War! We both strike a vein as we speak about how she approached her role within a larger narrative, memorable moments on set, costume & production design, how Abraham Lincoln would have been an excellent vampire slayer, and how this movie has a huge fanbase and cult following. I believe that the writers and the director took a creative risk by making this film and intertwining it with the Civil War and vampires – and the risk was worth it. From supernatural conspiracy theories to historical accuracy, I highly recommend this movie if you genuinely love history and vampires. Make sure to follow Alex Lombard on Instagram for updates on her upcoming projects and movies. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is streaming on HBO Max, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango at Home, and YouTube.

It's Die Hard in a dystopia! For our penultimate episode, this week we're hopping on our lawmasters and cruising into Mega City One, as we discuss the 2012 version of DREDD aka DREDD 3-D!In the futuristic crime-ridden dystopia of Mega City One, roving patrols of ‘Judges' are permitted to dispense on-the-spot justice with the power of judge, jury and executioner. In this context, the hard-bitten, highly experienced Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) is reluctantly partnered with rookie candidate Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby), who has psychic abilities due to a genetic mutation. In the process of investigating a triple homicide in the towering high-rise building known as Peach Trees, the two Judges incur the wrath of the culprit – ferocious and powerful local gangster MaMa (Lena Headey) – who seals off the building and declares war on the pair of them, meaning that the two vastly outnumbered Judges must use all their skills and guile to survive an onslaught of attacks from the building's seemingly infinite number of marauding criminals. The boys put this awesome movie in its full context by discussing the entire history of the Dredd character and it's life across popular culture (including the 1995 Stallone movie version). They go deep on this icon figure's complex appeal, and what this adaptation got so right, and what the distributors got so wrong (remember the 3-D craze?! Ah…good times) in translating this challenging source material to the silver screen at the second attempt. The guys hand out awards in a hotly contested edition of the ‘Die Hard Oscars' and wrap things up with a challenging edition of the ‘Double Jeopardy' Trivia Quiz. But will Liam pass or fail?! Storia e testi (Mondadori-Ricordi, 2011).

It's Die Hard in a tower block! Yep things really are coming full circle now as this time the Die Hard-esque mayhem takes place in…a tall building…as we discuss Gareth Evans' furiously intense game-changer THE RAID (aka THE RAID: REDEMPTION) with special guest Jason Kleeburg!Rama (Iko Uwais) is a young police officer in the Mobile Brigade Corps, Indonesia's spec-ops paramilitary tactical unit. Rama is part of an small MBC squad who are tasked with assaulting an impenetrable Jakarta slum ruled by the notorious gangster Tama Riyadi (Ray Sahetapy). The goal is to extract and arrest Tama, but the bungled operation quickly goes to hell, and soon Rama and what's left of his unit find themselves trapped inside the building, facing overwhelming opposition from Tama's seemingly endless hordes of henchmen. So, are the DHOAB boys ready for a bit of the old ultraviolence? Well, opinions vary. The lads fiercely debate this divisive film's merits…just like many of the prominent critics did at the time of its release. Is this, as Jason suggests, simply one of the best fight films ever made? Or is it, as Roger Ebert argued, “a visualized video game that spares the audience the inconvenience of playing it”? Perhaps it's both, and the guys chew it all over, discussing its relevance as a paradigm-shifter for the entire action genre, its influences (and influence) across Asian, American, and indeed world cinema, and its potency, originality, and inventiveness with no recognizable stars, a fixed location, and an extremely limited budget. As always the fellas wrap things up with the Die Hard Oscars, followed by the Double Jeopardy Trivia Quiz…while still searching valiantly for the titular “redemption”! Raid Riders rise up! To the outside world, Ted Ammon had built the kind of life most people only dream about — a self-made Wall Street titan worth nearly $100 million, a Hamptons beach mansion, and twin children he adored. But behind the facade, his marriage to the brilliant, volatile Generosa had curdled into something dangerous. A bitter divorce, a secret affair, and a brash Long Island electrician with a criminal record had pushed an already unstable situation to the breaking point. When Ted's business partner flew out to the East Hampton beach house one October morning, what he found inside would haunt him forever. Thirty or more blows to the head. Stun gun burns. And not a single witness in sight. No murder weapon. No DNA. No fingerprints. Just a dead man in a mansion.Today's snack: H‑E‑B Blanched Almonds - Sweet Chile and H‑E‑B Twisters Sandwich Cookies - Mexican Hot Chocolate (thanks Carla!)Listen to part 2 today on PatreonSources:Crowley, Kieran. Lazarus The Awakening LA Screening & Red Carpet Premiere.Speaking with the stars of the hit film Lazarus The Awakening, (Sean Riggs, Courtney Grace, R. Marcus Taylor,), this experience felt bigger than just another premiere, it felt like stepping into a movement.Chatting with Sean Riggs (creator, producer, actor), we discussed how this film isn't just action, it's resurrection, ownership, and power. A story rooted in a man who's been given a second chance, not just to live, but to fight for something greater than himself. The film blends raw street justice with superhero mythology and martial arts, but what really stood out to me was the heart. It's about redemption, accountability, and what it means to rise again when the world counts you out. These are the moments that matter where film, culture, and real conversations discuss IP ownership, character depth and industry disruption.@iamseanriggshttps://youtu.be/3Dyd0KrFcaw?si=Hx57Ng|1FH1W09vSIt is available on streaming and VOD platforms like Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango@iheartpodcast @power97.5laradio
John Carpenter's Someone's Watching Me! (1978) is one of the most overlooked thrillers in his filmography, and this week on Cutting Deep into Horror, Henrique Couto and Rachael Redolfi dig into the tense, creepy made-for-TV shocker Carpenter made right before Halloween. The film stars Lauren Hutton, David Birney, and Adrienne Barbeau, and turns anonymous phone calls, apartment paranoia, and stalker dread into a slow-burn nightmare that still lands. The movie was produced by Warner Bros. Television and aired on NBC on November 29, 1978. In this episode, Henrique and Rachael get into why the movie works so well as a pre-Halloween Carpenter thriller, how it builds suspense out of invasive attention and helplessness, and why its made-for-TV roots actually sharpen the tension instead of softening it. They talk about Lauren Hutton's strong lead performance, Adrienne Barbeau's memorable supporting turn, the movie's stalking setup, its uneasy humor, and the way it taps into fears about privacy, vulnerability, and not being believed. They also explore why this one deserves a much bigger reputation among fans of 1970s horror, psychological thrillers, and John Carpenter deep cuts.Inside this episode:why Someone's Watching Me! feels like a missing link between Carpenter's early work and Halloweenhow the film turns phone harassment, surveillance, and apartment living into effective horrorwhy Lauren Hutton makes such a compelling leadthe importance of Adrienne Barbeau's Sophie and the film's unusually progressive character dynamics for 1978why the movie's TV-thriller format gives it a different but very effective rhythmhow Carpenter creates tension without needing nonstop violence or spectacleFilm details:Year: 1978Director: John CarpenterStarring: Lauren Hutton, David Birney, Adrienne BarbeauRuntime: 97 minutes Where to watch (U.S., this week):Hoopla and available to rent or buy on Amazon Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home.

It's Die Hard on a runaway train! With the last stop now in sight, it's full steam ahead on the show this week as the boys attempt “to run this bitch down” (in the nicest possible way of course) by discussing Tony Scott's swaggering swansong UNSTOPPABLE (2010) in the context of disaster movies, Die Hard, and the action genre in general! When a massive freight train designated 777 accidentally escapes a Pennsylvania railyard under its own power, the authorities scramble to find a solution as the driverless locomotive increases its speed. This highly dangerous situation is yet further complicated when they become aware of 777's volatile chemical cargo, that effectively turns the runaway train into “a missile the size of the Chrysler building”…a missile that's now heading into inexorably into a heavily populated area. Fate and circumstances mean that two unlikely heroes – veteran train driver Frank Barnes (Denzel Washington) and rookie conductor Will Colson (Chris Pine) – find themselves on a collision course with the errant vehicle – and with the help of canny yardmaster Connie Hooper (Rosario Dawson), they hatch an audacious plan to try and stop this metallic monster from causing mass destruction in the area they all call home. In this thoughtful and emotive conversation, Phil and Liam discuss the film's importance both as the last film of an iconic artist, and as arguably the last pure action movie ever made…before the entire genre changed forever. They muse on its standing as one of the greatest working class pictures of all time, discuss the potential for it being the best disaster movie ever committed to celluloid, and elaborate further on the idea of the “competency porn” that's writ large throughout Tony Scott's filmography. As always there's detailed analysis of UNSTOPPABLE's bountiful “Die Hard DNA”, before the lads trade their yellow vests for tuxedos to hand out the “Die Hard Oscars”, and finally the guys bring this beast to a halt with the ever-popular “Double Jeopardy” trivia quiz! TRAILER: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l__gGyq21U8At the time of release, UNSTOPPABLE is streaming on Fubo, Starz, and Philo and is available to rent or buy on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV/iTunes, YouTube, Fandango and all the usual platforms! What a night at the Oscars! From Barbara Streisand's surprise live performance of "The Way We Were”, to Michael B Jordan's emotional best actor win, to best supporting actress nominee Teyana Taylor backstage confronting a security guard who says “shoved” her. The 98th annual Academy Awards won't soon be forgotten. Our Victoria Recano and Fandango's Nikki Novak joined Jim Moret for our red-carpet coverage. And even if you watched until the final envelope was opened, there were still a number of secrets from the night we can now answer, including why the big Bridesmaids reunion was missing...a bridesmaid. Plus, outspoken Democratic congresswoman Jasmine Crockett just lost the primary for the US Senate, but she's back in the headlines because her bodyguard was just killed by a Dallas SWAT team. Turns out, he was a wanted fugitive. We've been closely following the case of the woman who wrote a children's book about grief after her husband died, who is now on trial for his murder. In a move that stunned the courtroom, Corey Richins defense team didn't call a single witness in the case. Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer (1986) is one of the bleakest and most notorious serial killer horror films ever made, and in this episode of Cutting Deep into Horror, Henrique Couto and Rachael Redolfi dig into what makes John McNaughton's grim 1986 cult classic still feel so raw, disturbing, and hard to shake. It's DIE HARD on the New York subway! This week we welcome back special guest Jason Bailey (who completes his hat trick of appearances) to discuss THE TAKING OF PELHAM123 (2009)!When a ruthless thief who calls himself Ryder (John Travolta) takes over a New York city subway train and demands a $10 million ransom for the hostages, disgraced MTA official Walter Garber (Denzel Washington) finds himself in the middle of the crisis. Garber must now somehow attempt to negotiate his way through this high stakes situation, which soon becomes even more perilous and political when a suspicious NYPD hostage negotiator (John Turturro) and the slippery Mayor of New York (James Gandolfini) both get personally involved. As the body count rises and tensions increase, Garber finds himself drawn into a strange, almost symbiotic relationship with the unhinged hijacker…and ultimately has to go into the lion's den to confront him personally. While the bulk of this episode is focused on the 2009 Tony Scott remake, inevitably the guys talk extensively about the 1974 original (and even the 1998 TV movie version). Things are starting to come full circle now, as a seventies film that influenced the original 1988 Die Hard is then remade for a post 9/11 landscape…with new Die Hard DNA inevitably added to the mix. The chaps talk about the story's themes (particularly the astute and incisive examination of big city politics), the inherent challenges of remakes, and the excellent, layered acting performances. As always the guys hand out ‘Die Hard Oscars' and wrap things up with a challenging edition of the ‘Double Jeopardy' trivia quiz.
