Detest Brother, I am sending you this letter, because at this point i'm sure the moths will be moving faster than I can. My flight path got clipped due to an unexpected dance of lightning along the calantine cliffs. I was forced to change corse and take shelter in the canyon. do not worry though, I am safe, just a few rustler feathers here and there. Luckily enough there was a moth tower at the edge of the ravine where I could write home. The many termite moth tenders here have done well to help this old sparrow to recuperate. My feathers are being swiftly tended to and should be in perfect flight condition in a few weeks. I still intend to make it home to virtue before the first threads of snow blanket rest on the roofs of town. I do not want to get caught in another storm like we did all those years ago. In fact I will be bringing gifts for the candlefeast (and don't worry i've included surprises for you and your husband among those for the grandkids). I am perfecting my craft as I rest, hoping to truly capture the sounds of the world. although almost recuperated my extended stay at the tower is to study a most peculiar sound, I know not what it is yet, but I hope to capture the essence that meets me every sundown. From the top of the tower I look across the expanse of the Hæthland and swear that I can see the edge of the world. Right as the sun crosses the horizon, a rush of melodic whispers rest on my ears, a secret song just for me. with love and swift flight, Robin Our Guest this week is the amazing Jeremy Cobb from the DnD podcast Three Black Halflings! Friends, what an honor to interview, Joe Blair, HVAC repairman, UI Non-Fiction Writer's Workshop grad, husband, dad, and author of the one of the best books that I have read, "By the Iowa Sea". The term "memoir" doesn't do this book justice. It a meditation on hopes, dreams, marriage, being a dad, suffering, and renewal. This is a book that you will want to read four or five times. The whole book is a pure, intense, powerful and poetic. It'll light your soul. Originally from Westford, Massachusetts, Joe and his new wife, Deb, went on a cross country adventure throughout the United States on a motorcycle in the early 90's. They ran out of money, got stranded in Iowa, and decided to make a life here. This begins that incredible true life story that Joe tells in "By the Iowa Sea". They had kids, got jobs, a mortgage, and then life happened. Taking place during the Great Flood of 2008, Blair describes in poignant detail the dreams of a young couple, their hopes, their dashed dreams, Joe's affair, and a marriage on the rocks. To find out what happens, you need to buy the book. Joe also shares what next in his writing career, and his awesome son, Michael, made a short cameo appearance. Whoa, this was a fun one to do. Hope you have as much listening to this one and I had interviewing Joe. Joe is part of the large constellation of literary stars graduating from the Writer's Workshop. It was a true honor to interview him. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
Parashat Noach - The Universal Noahide Laws, the Bedrock of Human Existence This week we welcome the new month of Mar Cheshvan, a time of inner spiritual transformation. It's the month of the beginning of the rainfalls of blessing in the Land of Israel, and yet it's also the time in which the Great Flood began…and this week's Torah portion of parashat Noach focuses on that flood. The flood was G-d's retribution against a humanity that had grown so wicked, it had lost all semblance of the Divine image in which man was created. But where did the world go wrong? This week's edition of the Jerusalem Lights podcast provides a veritable ‘flood' of background information and Biblical knowledge on the generation of the Flood as well as the nature of this remarkable month of MarCheshvan. Jim Long and Rabbi Chaim Richman share fascinating insights on the Torah portion of Noah and the urgent messages it conveys for our time. ___ Rabbi Chaim Richman Jerusalem Lights | Torah for Everyone Please support the work of Jerusalem Lights, a USA recognized 501 ( c ) 3 non-profit organization to enable these productions to continue and grow: Paypal: firstname.lastname@example.org or: https://paypal.me/JerusalemLights?loc... My guest today is someone who has already been on the show three times, author, scholar and widely known authority on Gnostic philosophy, Tobias Churton. This time, we have the great pleasure to talk about his latest book which was published by Inner Traditions in January 2021, ‘The Lost Pillars of Enoch – When Science & Religion Were One' which is surprisingly enough not about Enochian Magic and/or John Dee at all. We'll be having a wonderful conversation about the biblical Genesis story of the flood and how Jewish historian Flavius Josephus in his work ‘The Antiquities of the Jews' tried to pin down an urban version of the Septuaginta. According to him the children of Seth inherited wisdom and prophecy of Adam such as the idea for God to destroy the world by water or fire. In order to preserve the knowledge it was inscribed on two pillars, one of brick and one of stone. The second one was said to have survived the Great Flood and thought to be found in ‘Syria' which was a mistake in the translation process as it should have meant some entirely different location. Tobias' book explores in its first part the big question of how the remaining pillar could be located. Of course, we will dive deeply into the explorations of Enoch's different identities and try to unpack at least a bit how they are connected to the Pillars and Hermes Trismegistos from Hermetic sources. So essentially our journey will lead us to the origins of Hermeticism itself. Tobias' latest book "The Lost Pillars of Enoch" is at the centre of our attention in this episode. It can be ordered here! One of the main ideas of Tobias presented in his work is in general how the knowledge about the universe and religion must have been identical in some very early antediluvian times. However, Tobias will be elaborating on apocalyptic topics as well such as inner vs. outer apocalypse, individual vs. collective transformational processes and the role of Jesus in this whole picture. The history of the Pillars also requires the interested audience to follow a red line which is also the main promise of esotericism in general, the idea that man is a fallen being possessing only the shattered mirror of the knowledge that it once had in its hands and that the requirement is to experience a vision of the original in order to reassemble the pieces for which the Pillars of Enoch provide an emblem of vision of the primal unity between God and Man. The figure of Aleister Crowley can't be missing in an interview with Tobias as he has written numerous books on The Great Beast, the next one coming out in January 2022 describing Crowley's years from 1932 to 1947 in Britain during which time he wasn't able to obtain a visa to leave the country and was confined to it until his death. Tobias has another book on Crowley in work – he says it's going to be the last one on him – on his years in Paris coming out in 6-8 months and we'll talk about another one he's just about to start concerning the origins of alchemy which I'm pretty sure will be a highly interesting topic for many of you. Music played in this episode Today's music is more from the world of classical music, but related to Western Esotericism or Mysticism JEAN LANGLAIS was a French organist and composer whose lifesppan covered most of the 20th century. Most of his work is religiously inspired, but often in a very mystical, almost "gothic", gnostic way. GEORGES I. GURDJEFF played the music that came to his mind on a harmonium, but as he was not able to write it down, Thomas de Harmann, rather well known composer of the time, student and friend of Gurdjeff (and later also husband of his private secretary) did that for him. We hear one of Gurdjeff's pieces from "An Oriental Suite" in a version for large orchestra. ERIK SATIE is also French,
When we look at the story of Noah, we find that God has always been accessible to anyone willing to walk with Him. The waters of the Great Flood were transformative, not just to the earth, but to the people on the Ark who chose to trust God with their lives. // THROUGH THE WATER In the sequel to "Along the Road", we dig into the Biblical narrative and explore the theme of God bringing people through the chaotic waters and into newness of life.

This week we look at one of the more famous stories from the Bible about the Great Flood. Most of us are familiar with the boat, the animals, and the flood, but what about the aftermath? Even through this story of destruction we can see the faithfulness of God shining through, pointing to the final rescue of all things in Jesus Christ. Listen in as Greg delivers the message!
Did the world have a total reset 100-1000 years ago? Did a huge mud flood bury the civilisation before us along with advanced technology and Giant humans? Are some of the buildings still around today and clearly showing us all the evidence of this? A fairly new conspiracy theory believes all of this to be true and we take a look at it this week on the kast of what.support us here https://www.buymeacoffee.com/whatkastmerch http://tee.pub/lic/l7YvevGN0SU
The rain started in the morning of August 5, 1843 around 7:30 AM and increased in intensity all day in southeastern Pennsylvania. Area residents reported that by 3:00 PM winds had reached gale force and the rain continued at a furious pace. In the evening about 7:00 PM a wall of water, fueled by water levels that rose 5.5 inches in 40 minutes, came rushing down both the Crum and Ridley Creeks without warning. The water overflowed the banks of Crum Creek by more than 20 feet and Ridley Creek by 21 feet. From reconstructed records it appears that a hurricane or strong tropical storm hit the region and was responsible for the rain and wind. An excerpt from George Smith's History of Delaware County from 1862 states: “At daybreak, the sky indicated rain, and about seven o'clock a moderate fall set in, which, while it slackened, never entirely ceased until between the hours of two and six o'clock that afternoon, when the extraordinary opening of “the windows of heaven” took place which made such extended ruin and misery in a brief period of time. The rain, when falling most abundantly, came down in such showers that the fields in that part of the county removed several miles back from the river are said to have been flooded with water almost immediately, and where the road was lower than the surface of the ground on either side, the water poured into the highway in a constant stream of miniature cascades. The lightning played incessantly through the falling torrents, reflected from all sides in the watery mirrors in the fields producing a weird and spectral appearance, such that those who witnessed it could evermore recall.” As most of the area's commerce was centered around waterways the storm wreaked havoc with the many mills located along the creeks, and it was reported that no mill or milldam escaped destruction or severe damage. As many as 52 county bridges were swept away by torrents of water. The water carried away homes, dams, bridges, factories, livestock and people, in total 19 Delaware County residents perished during the storm. Delaware County has been visited by monster storms with names like Irene, Agnes, Hugo and Gloria over the years. But none, it seems, was more destructive than the Great Flood of 1843 that was also likely the result of a tropical system. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

The Pyramid again shall stand as the ideal emblem of solidarity, inspiration, aspiration, resurrection, and regeneration. Over the years, biblical scholar Gary Stearman has written extensively about Nimrod (Apollo/Osiris/Gilgamesh) and the connection this historical figure has with Babylonian Mystery Religion, Watchers, Nephilim (including their resurrection), and the spirit of the end-times Antichrist and revival of paganism. He too appears to believe the coming of Antichrist represents a return of Nimrod. “But who is this Assyrian,” he asked in the July 2001 Prophecy in the News Magazine, “He is none other than the spiritual inheritor of the first great post-Flood religious apostasy. He is the keeper of the great heritage that began at the Assyrian capital, Nineveh. Its founder was Nimrod…. He is the Antichrist, the future despot who comes in the name of the ancient mystery religion.” A year earlier, in June of 2000, Stearman had written in Prophecy in the News concerning Nimrod: “He was a rebel who allowed himself to be worshipped as a god. After the Flood, his rebellion became the foundation of mankind's greatest religious apostasy. Down through 90 From THE LIVE RAGGED EDGE RADIO BROADCAST/SHATTER LIVE TV WEBINAR RUSS DIZDAR © the generations, this system of false worship became known simply as the “Babylonian Mystery Religion.” Its basis is quite clear. It attempts to channel the power of the ancient gods through the figure of one, powerful man. Nimrod became that god…” [emphasis]. Alexander Hislop in his classic text The Two Babylons substantiates Stearman's thesis that the Babylonian Mystery Religion was based on the worship of Nimrod. “It was to glorify Nimrod that the whole Chaldean system of iniquity was formed,” he wrote (p.20). Yet Stearman sees that the Mystery Religion continued secretly through the ages, shrouded in hiding by adepts of the occult in anticipation of a final moment when the ancient spirit should be awakened. “…corrupt priesthoods have flourished, carrying with them the shadow of Nimrod and his ancient mysteries. Their inner secrets have been known by various names, including alchemy, magic, sorcery, conjuring, soothsaying and so forth…. waiting for the prophesied day when it would rise once again. This movement will result in the reign of the Antichrist.” In addition to the supernatural aspects that biotechnology could provide the Luciferian technology to resurrect Nimrod/Apollo/Osiris in the person of the last days Man of Sin, the ramifications of using the same science to revive extinct animals, Nephilim, or to create newly engineered versions of demigods and mythological animals may also play a role in the Kingdom of Antichrist. This is because as interbreeding begins between transgenic animals, genetically modified humans, and specie as God made them, the altered DNA will quickly migrate into the natural environment, and when that happens (as is already occurring among genetically modified plants and animals), ‘alien' and/or animal characteristics will be introduced to the human gene pool and spread through intermarriage, altering the human genetic code and eventually eliminating humanity as we know it. This is what happened before the Great Flood according to many theologians, and perhaps that has been the whole idea for the end-times as well—to create a generation of genetically altered ‘Nimrods' to serve as ‘fit extensions' for the resurrection of underworld Nephilim-hordes in preparation of Armageddon. Does a curious verse in the book of Daniel hint at this? Speaking of the last days of human government, Daniel said: “…they shall mingle themselves with the seed of men: but they shall not cleave one to another, even as iron is not mixed with clay” (Dan. 2:43). While Daniel does not explain who they that “mingle themselves with the seed of men” are, the personal pronoun they caused Chuck Missler and Mark Eastman in their book Alien Encounters to ask: “Just what (or who) are ‘mingling with the seed of men?' Who are these Non-seed? It staggers the mind to contemplate the potential significance of Daniel's passage and its implications for the future global governance.” 91 From THE LIVE RAGGED EDGE RADIO BROADCAST/SHATTER LIVE TV WEBINAR RUSS DIZDAR © Daniel's verse troubled Missler and Eastman because it seemed to indicate that the same phenomenon that occurred in Genesis chapter 6 where non-human species or ‘non-seed' mingled with human seed and produced Nephilim, would happen again in the end times. When this verse from Daniel is coupled with Genesis 3:15, which says, “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed [zera,] and her seed,” an incredible tenant emerges—that Satan has seed, and that it is at enmity with Christ. To ‘mingle' non-human seed with Homo sapiens through altering human DNA while simultaneously returning Nephilim to earth has been the inspiration of the spirit of antichrist ever since God during the Great Flood halted the practice. According to Louis Pauwells & Jacques Bergier in The Dawn of Magic (first published in France under the title “Le Matin des Magiciens” 1960 by Editions Gallimard, Paris), this was certainly the goal of the antichrist Adolf Hitler: Hitler's aim was neither the founding of a race of supermen, nor the conquest of the world; these were only means towards the realization of the great work he dreamed of. His real aim was to perform an act of creation, a divine operation, the goal of a biological mutation which would result in an unprecedented exaltation of the human race and the “apparition of a new race of heroes and demigods and god-men.” One cannot read the conclusion by Pauwells and Bergier regarding Hitler's antichrist ambition without seeing how it corresponds perfectly with the Cumaean Sibyl's prophecy pertaining to the coming of Apollo, who receives “the life of gods, and sees Heroes with gods commingling.” This calls to mind that from the Middle Ages forward, church leaders have believed the Antichrist would ultimately represent the return of the Nephilim—the reunion of demons with humans. St. Augustine himself wrote of such demoniality in the City of God , and in the De Daemonialitate, et Incubis, et Succubi, Fr. Ludovicus Maria Sinistrari de Ameno (1622-1701) also perceived the coming of Antichrist as representing the biological hybridization of demons with humans. “To theologians and philosophers,” he wrote, “it is a fact, that from the copulation of humans with the demon…Antichrist must be born.” ” from https://www.auricmedia.net/nimrods-tomb-foundcloning-of-nimrod-and-osiris-underway/ ‘'They ignored the Nazi camps, they just couldn't believe that such atrocities and evil could be done……….I contend with the coming of the antichrist and the ‘chosen ones” troops of antichrist they will……………………….make the Nazi camps look like a picnic.'' rd https://duckduckgo.com/?q=song+waymaker&iax=videos&ia=videos&iai=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DEXQGTInPpZU

The Great Flood and Noah's Ark is a universal story, a familiar tale to many people regardless of their background or religion. In the story of the Bible it is a prominent marker on the path that shows us what God is up to in the world. It also tells us a lot about humans. In season five we're learning to listen to and pray Bible stories or narratives. In Genesis 1-2 we heart about God creating the world in an orderly way and calling it good. He meant for humans to rule over creation according to his goodness. People from the beginning decided to go their own way, to know good and evil on their own apart from God's clear teaching, and that sad story gets repeated over and over through the generations with few exceptions. In our podcast we take time to listen to God's word, reflect on it and then pray it back to God as well as carry that word with us through the rest of the day. The story of the Flood in Genesis 6-9 is crucial for several reasons. Noah is one man who is righteous, and God uses him to teach us about what a covenant means and the extent he is willing to go to bring hope and second chances to a seriously broken world. Noah is not perfect, and sin continues to trip up humans even after the flood, but God is working to bring about his plan for humans to have a relationship with him unhindered by sin. This is one of the longest sections of scripture or readings we've ever had on our podcast. You can also read the story yourself in Genesis 6:9-9:29 if that helps you stay alert and focused.Connect with us on one of our social channels:Twitter @WordofPrayer15Instagram @WordofPrayer15 Facebook Page at Word of Prayer 15.Support our show with your purchase of one of our products:Etsy store WordofPrayerAmazon Ron Oltmanns and Angela S OltmannsWe use a four step process for reading/hearing, meditating, praying and then living out scripture demonstrated here.Additional resources at https://word-of-prayer.comSupport the show (https://www.patreon.com/bePatron?u=30142397)
There are no more essential metaphors to be had in the American story than that of the river. The river is nature's alliance with mankind and its muse in prose, poetry and song. It is the stuff of dreams, the movement of the clock in Her terms, the news of the day when the banks are breached, and the symbol of biblical ventures of time and home. So we'll be taking to the river on a Friday in July to feel the warmth of the surface knowing full well that the undercurrent is treacherous and cold beneath the hull. Music this week includes the stories of the Great Flood of 1927 with Barbecue Bob, the baptismal elements from Alison Krauss and Irma Thomas, Central Valley memories from Dave Alvin by way of Merle Haggard, and the poetry of river sounding chants and Paul Robeson's muscle. Tune in as we drift our way down the Mississippi and beyond on Friday morning on Deeper Roots.
I don't want to be one of those old men that constantly gripe about stuff because I'm just generally mad. I like to think I have a positive outlook most of the time, but I'm no different from anybody else in that I have my days. Even when I'm putting together a piece for the podcast, I at least give it an honest shot at putting a light, humorous spin on things if I'm complaining. There are some things though, that no matter how happy I'm feeling at the moment, no matter how full of flavor my crunch berries were that morning, no matter how much Ram I currently have in my Rama Lama Ding Dong, I will always hate them with every tiny, sinuous fiber of my being. I'm going to tell you what those things are and why, even though I respect and fear God to the uttermost, I'll have a few questions for Him when I get to Heaven. From Atomic Red Studios in the Granite Capitol of the World, I'm Michael Blackston, and this is a thought provoking episode of Funny Messy Life _________________________ (The following is a pre-enactment. It's how I think things are gonna go down once I'm comfortably in my heavenly mansion, which is inside a 24 hour Krispy Kreme, and God drops by to see how I'm settling in.) (Cue the music.) (There's a knock at the door.) ME: Who is it? GOD: It's God. (Pause) I've been trying to reach you about your car's extended warranty. (God howls with laughter.) Not really. (Longer pause.) It IS really God, though. I saw that the light was on. ME: OH! Sorry! Come in. GOD: This is niiiiice. You know, I've always remembered fondly on the day I created the doughnut, but all anybody ever appreciates is that chicken place. And they don't even know how to spell “chicken”, ha! ME: I for one, am a fan of the doughnut. I'm glad You made that happen. GOD: Well, I saw that it was good. ME: God, can I ask You a question? GOD: Sure. ME: Promise you won't get mad. Because I don't mean any disrespect; I'm just curious. GOD: I'm not mad now, Am I? I already know what you want to ask Me anyway. ME: You do? How … ? Oh, yeah. The conversation will continue over fresh glazed doughnuts and coffee … (sorry Mormons, but God drinks coffee), and he answers my questions satisfactorily. Because He has His reason for everything; I just won't understand them entirely until I get up there. With that in mind, I'm going to post the questions and answer them with the explanation that I believe, in my imperfect flesh, might be God's reasoning. And because God has a cameo in this episode, and He already knows what my questions are, I'll let Him ask them for me. Question #1. GOD: Mosquitoes are food for bats, but fire ants? What's that about? Fire ants are a direct punishment for God for the fall of man when Adam and Eve bit that fruit. The Bible is extremely detailed - astonishingly so, but it doesn't contain everything that was ever said by every character in it. I won't add to the words of The Bible, but I'm certain that among the things God was explaining would be a punishment for going ahead and eating the apple He specifically told them not to nosh, He included that curse. “Survey says, ….. Fire Ants! How do you like THEM apples?!” Do we even have Aardvarks in the American south? I'm sure they're a delicacy for some animal. Armadillos maybe? They kinda look like an Aardvark wearing sheet metal. It's the only thing I can think of as a decent reason for fire ants. Food for Armadillos and a curse on the face of mankind to be endured through the ages by barefoot picnickers and anyone who dares walk anywhere in any grass anytime in the Deep South. Hate is a strong word - a terrible word. We don't use it nonchalantly in our home, but I hate fire ants. Kayla won't let me set the mounds on fire, but I often fantasize about what it sounds like as they die their tiny little devil deaths when they take the ant bait back to the queen. I imagine the squeals of agony and cries in the dark as they leave this earth to spend forever in hell and I find joy in it. Revelation tells of the end times when Satan and his demons will be thrown into the fiery pit to be tortured for all eternity. I'm kind of hoping that pit will be full of fire ant hills. Question #2. GOD: People need electricity, but the Power Company? What's that about? Just a notch below Fire Ants is the Power company. I hated them when I lived in a different state, then I hated the new power company when I moved to Georgia, then I hated my current power company when I moved to another county. I used to think that as I got older, my pure, unadulterated loathing for the power company would subside. I would understand them. I thought I would learn to appreciate their culture of cold, unloving greed and megalomania. But no. As I've grown, I've learned to think of them in the same category as fire ants. Of course, I don't fantasize about people who work for power companies dying horrible deaths, but I do enjoy it when I see another house with solar panels on the roof. I imagine that for every solar panel that's added to a roof, a power company executive loses another golf ball. I think God will tell me that He created them to test our capacity to love. Humans are easily disgruntled and carry grudges for extended periods of time, so maybe the power company is a way to teach us to see others through God's eyes. Sometimes, because we are told we should love everyone, we must learn to let God love them for us because we are weak. Even the wretched among us deserve love. However, I fully believe that if power companies could find a way to operate off of pain, they would harness the evil of fire ants and feed on the tears of small children. Question #3. GOD: Jorts. What's that about? There are jeans and there are shorts. Another curse on mankind, I'd wager. God was so upset with Adam and Eve that He felt the need to create the existence of a knee-length jeans/shorts hybrid. Fortunately for the world's first couple, God couldn't bring Himself to make them wear them, so He gave them the option to choose leaves and animal pelts to cover themselves. Later, He would still show mercy and allowed us the more fashionable toga, but eventually, our crimes would become so fierce that he flooded the whole earth, only to find that we would repopulate and create Florida Gator fans. That's when the curse of the jort hit us full throttle. Extra pockets couldn't even save us from the horror. God sent us a rainbow after the Great Flood as a promise to never render His judgement in that way again. We've gotten no such promise about the jorts, and so we must endure it until the end of time. Question #4. GOD: The Funny Bone. What's that about? We all have one and we've all konked it on something. I've always wondered what was so dang funny about it. It's pain. I don't tend to laugh at pain. I handle pain about as well as any normal person, but that has never included slapping my knee, other than to bring the feeling back into my pinky finger. Because that's what happens when I bang my funny bone on a door jam. The feeling goes out of my pinky finger. I might slap my knee then, followed by shaking my arm all about like I'm playing some weird solo version of the Hokey Pokey, but laughter never, ever happens. My suspicion on this is that God enjoys humor. Every other point on our body that is encountered rudely will behave in a similar fashion. It will hurt to varying degrees, but it is clearly pain. With the funny bone, it's still pain, but it's different. Our reaction to it is different, and, I suspect comical for Him to observe from up there on high. When we hit our funny bone, we stop for a second as the realization consumes us. Our eyes cross, and it usually feels to me like it happens in slow motion. Our mouths gape open for a silent moment, then the sounds come. “uuuuuuuuuuuUUUUUUUUAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!” When you're around company and you hit your toe on the bottom of a bedpost, you scream immediately, sharply, and try to compose yourself. Someone will have to ask if you're okay or what happened. When you hit your funny bone, you have to announce it to everybody within earshot, and everybody within earshot will make the same face at once. It's that cringy, teeth bared grimace that might be followed by hissing sounds. It goes something like this: You're in Dollar General and you're mad because they don't carry the cases of Propel flavored water and now you'll have to go to Walmart after all when you specifically came to DG to avoid having to do that. It's July, and in your irritation, you barrel down the aisle without paying attention to how close you are to the shelf full of Christmas decorations. You konk your funny bone a good one on the corner of the shelf and the hilarity ensues. “uuuuuuuuuuuUUUUUUUUAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!” Your eyes cross in slow motion. “Funny bone! I hit my funny bone! Everybody, I just hit my funny bone!” Everybody within earshot makes this sound … “HISSSSSSSS!” “I hit my funny bone, everybody, and I can't feel my pinky now! OH GOD!” And God, well He's up there holding a glazed doughnut and all of heaven hears … “HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA! Funny bone!” I think I ought to make a disclaimer here for anybody hearing or reading this who is thinking, “Did Michael just punch his ticket to hell with this one?” The answer is no. I'm a staunch believer that if God made us in His image as we're taught, then He has a sense of humor, but I also prayed over this one before I started it. And while I never actually heard, “Go ahead and write it, My child,” I didn't feel Him telling me not to in my heart. I love The Lord with everything I have and I can't wait to really see Him face to face. I'll not have any actual questions for Him, because I believe either I'll know the answers, or they'll be inconsequential compared to His glory. And if He's a fan of the doughnut, I'll happily always keep the light on for Him.
All around the world, people know there was a flood. Practically every culture has a story about it. In some ways they're very different and in some ways, they're very similar. Today we're going to talk about them! The origins of the current Globalization project began all the way back at Babel (Genesis 11). The good news is that the courageous voices fighting the darkness are not willing to be silenced -- dissent is emerging from all sides, including a Jewish Female Democrat. A little on the Great Flood. The Current Global Cult and their Priests, Prophets and Scriptures. The utter idiocy of accepting the "trans" narrative. Why worship at the altar of "economic efficiency?" Global Debt Capitalism is not our friend -- how about a Global Jubilee? A universal debt cancellation would destroy the current system -- and they don't want to that. If they don't want that, then maybe we should want it. :-) Globalization has its origins at Babel (Genesis 11). Fighting the new Babel means rejecting "market efficiency" as the organizing principle.

May 16, 2021 Morning Service. Affter the Great Flood, God gave the survivors a direct command to spread and repopulate the earth. But they had ideas in mind to make a name for themselves, plans that were in direct opposition to what they had been told to do. In this week's sermon, Pastor John Friederich looks at the lessons we can learn from their mistakes and God response to them. (Genesis 11:1-9)
In Chapter Eight of The Chronicles of Belteshazzar, Daniel meets Naaman, the Captain of the Babylonian Guard while breaking up a fight between a Hebrew and an Askelonite. The two trade stories about what they believe, and their different understandings of the Great Flood. In reading the story of how Daniel will later interpret a dream by King Nebuchadnezzar, it is clear that the two must have had a relationship before The Captain of the Guard was sent to find him (see Chapter 2 of the Book of Daniel). Daniel exhibits the quality of forgiving others – something that is demonstrated in the movie, Pay it Forward. I’ll use that movie, plus a story about the life of Corey Ten Boom, to help flesh out this episode’s Question for Reflection. Ok, let's try this "be fruitful and multiply" thing again. That's the blessing and the mandate Noah and his family received from God, for the preservation of mankind, after they got off the ark. New diet, violence deterrence and a rainbow for a sign of promise. If it wasn't for the wine things would have been fine.
We began the journey of Grace Period on Noah's ark, weathering the first global pandemic and the destructive waters of the Great Flood. We continued the journey on the waters of Galilee, where our travels were beset by sudden squalls that threatened to swamp our boat. And last week, Holy Week, we walked the great storm of Jesus' Way of the Cross. These waters, which disrupted our lives and were the cause of so much fear – Christ has walked over them, and stands firmly now on the shore. How? The Gospel's ultimate answer is so simple, yet it is our greatest discovery: Christ is risen, alleluia! Christ is truly risen, alleluia! Thank you for walking this journey of grace with us over these past weeks. May our Risen Lord who has conquered the storm fill us with hope as we guide our boats to shore. On March 23, 1913 the rain started falling across the Mid-west and it didn’t stop for 4 days and 4 nights. The deluge resulted in epic flooding unequaled in American history before and after. Known as the Great Flood. The storm system that produced the flood in late March 1913 began with a typical winter storm pattern, but developed characteristics that promoted heavy rain and at times sleet and snow. Strong winds in the high atmosphere cut off from the jet stream, caused a high-pressure system to stall off Bermuda and blocked the eastward movement of the storm. In the meantime, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico moved northward into the Midwest. The storm that formed in the nation’s mid-section had nowhere to move for several days, causing heavy rain over the four-day period between March 23 and March 26. As the storm gained strength on Sunday, March 23, high winds, hail, sleet, and tornadoes settled in across a vast swath of the nation’s mid-section. Major tornadoes hit Omaha, Nebraska where 94 died; also hit were Lone Peach, Arkansas; and Terre Haute, Indiana. On Monday and Tuesday, March 24 and 25, 3 to 8 inches of rain fell in Ohio, Indiana, and southern Illinois. Major rivers in Indiana and Ohio experienced heavy runoff. Downstream, where the Ohio River enters the Mississippi River, the water level broke record highs. By Tuesday, March 25, the Ohio River and its tributaries flooded cities such as Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Youngstown and Columbus. Dayton, Ohio, was particularly hard-hit. On Wednesday, March 26, the storm moved east into Pennsylvania and New York, while heavy rain continued in the Ohio valley. The heaviest rainfall, 6 to 9, covered an area from southern Illinois into northwestern Pennsylvania. As the storm continued eastward, flooding began in New York, Massachusetts, Vermont, and Virginia. The Potomac River overflowed its banks in Maryland. 467 died in the floods and damage reached $147 million or almost $4 billion in 2021 dollars. Learn more about your ad choices. Noted romance and erotica author and editor, Tasha Harrison joins Erica to discuss visibility -- attracting people to your community through authenticity. Part of that involves being seen, letting people in to know who you are, what it is that makes you the individual and the human that you are that can't be manufactured or replicated by someone else. Simply put, it’s your personality. When preparing this topic for Pause On The Play, Erica knew immediately that her friend, Tasha, who is also the creator of the #20kin5Days writing challenge and the Wordmakers Writing Community, was exactly who she wanted to talk with about it. Tasha and Erica also unpack misconceptions surrounding Black romance, showing up as you are with your full voice, and refusing to be categorized by other people’s expectations. In this discussion: Visibility - seeing others while being seen Unleashing authentic personality The people-pleasing trap Building better communities Why pro-Black isn’t anti-white Fostering a healthy listening, learning environment Self-preservation over false choices Breaking free from limiting labels Connect with Tasha Harrison Website Instagram Twitter Wordmakers Community Hi! I'm Tasha L. Harrison! I'm a romance and erotica author, freelance editor, and creator of the #20kin5Days writing challenge and the Wordmakers Writing Community. When I was 11 or 12 years old, I wrote a 20 line poem for my grandmother as a present for Mother’s Day. The title of this bit of iambic pentameter was "Grandmother, If You Lived in Biblical Times” and it told the story of how she would have been present and influential at all the big moments like the Great Flood, The Fall of Jericho, In the Lion’s Den with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abendigo, etc. My mother helped me decorate and frame this masterpiece and it lived on the entry table at my Grandmother’s house for years. While this wasn't the first thing I wrote, it was the first thing I remember when people ask me ”have you always wanted to be a writer?” Side note: I memorized that poem and can still recite it from beginning to end. If you meet me IRL and there's a glass of whiskey in my hand, I might just rattle if off if you ask nicely. I no longer write faith-based poetry, but I do write about characters who know each other biblically. My erotic and romantic fiction allows me the space to explore the human condition and suss out what happens when that chemical known as love and lust hits our bloodstream and how it impacts our lives. *** Check out our full show notes for more at https://www.pauseontheplay.com/potp/ep97. Keep The Dialogue Going Context is drawn from conversation, and conversation is something that we use as a tool in Pause On The Play The Community. Our conversations don't look any one way; they're not about any one topic, any one concern or cause. And our members don't all come from one specific background. Being able to figure out what it is to be more unapologetically you and have that discussion in a room of people that are there to cheer you on and advocating for you to be able to do this is so important. During our monthly calls, we support our community and help them figure out how to share what’s important to them. We help our members bring more of themselves to the forefront, clarify what matters to them, and broadcast that authentic message to their people. Join us over at Pause On The Play The Community to be in the room as we continue talking March 2021 about visibility and how to get your audience to feel what it is that you want them to feel, and what you want them to know about you.
