After the Great Flood, God established a covenant with Abram—later named Abraham—who responded in faith and obedience. God promised him that his descendants would become a great nation and that “All the families of the earth will find blessing” in him (Genesis 12:3). In today's Gospel, we see a sign of this promise being fulfilled in the faith of the Roman centurion, a Gentile who recognizes the divine authority of Jesus. His trust in Christ foreshadows the inclusion of all nations in the blessing promised through Abraham.At the time of Jesus, kindness between Jews and a Roman centurion was virtually unheard of. The Romans had conquered Israel, imposing their rule and extracting heavy taxes from the people. Though the Jews were allowed to continue Temple worship and practice their faith in the synagogues, many harbored deep resentment toward their Roman occupiers, longing for the day when the Messiah would come to liberate them.When the Messiah did come, however, many of the Jewish people did not recognize Him—perhaps because their expectations were fixed on a powerful military leader who would restore Israel's national sovereignty. Instead, Jesus came not as a warrior, but as the Lamb of God, bringing a far greater liberation: freedom from sin and death. He understood the deep-seated bitterness toward the Romans but saw beyond earthly conflicts, viewing all people through the lens of divine Wisdom.Jesus bore no animosity toward the Romans, nor did He seek their political overthrow. Instead, He desired their conversion. While many of the Jews—including the scribes and Pharisees—viewed the Romans as enemies, Jesus extended His compassion even to them, knowing that the promise made to Abraham was not merely for one nation but for all peoples. The centurion's faith is a sign of this unfolding fulfillment: A Gentile, once an outsider to the covenant, now stands as an example of trust and humility before the Messiah.One of the qualities that could have enabled this Roman centurion to manifest such remarkable faith was his experience of duty and authority as a military officer. Having spent his life exercising command over others, he understood the nature of authority firsthand. He applied this natural understanding to the supernatural authority Jesus possessed. Unlike the Jewish people, the centurion likely had little or no knowledge of the Torah, salvation history, or the prophecies concerning the Messiah. Yet, when he witnessed Jesus' miraculous power, he recognized in Him an authority far greater than that of earthly rulers. Drawing from his own experience of command—where a word spoken in authority is immediately obeyed—he concluded that Jesus, possessing divine authority, could heal his servant from a distance, merely by speaking the word.Reflect today on the faith of the Roman centurion, whom Jesus praised above all in Israel, saying, “In no one in Israel have I found such faith” (Matthew 8:10). His trust was not based on knowledge of the Law but on a firm belief in Christ's divine authority. Like him, we must approach Jesus with humility, acknowledging our unworthiness while having absolute confidence in His power to heal and restore our souls. While the centurion's servant was physically healed, God wills for us whatever draws us closest to Him—whether physical healing or the deeper healing of the soul. Imitate the centurion's unwavering faith, entrusting yourself to Christ, and He will say to you, “You may go; as you have believed, let it be done for you” (Matthew 8:13). All-powerful Lord, You can do all things and always will what is best for us. Grant me the faith of the centurion, that I may trust in Your power—not only to heal the body but to restore the soul. May I seek Your will above all else and desire the good of others more than any earthly hope. Psalm 104:1-9 describe the "works" of the Creator on days 1, 2 and 3 of creation.  There also seems to be an allusion to the Great Flood, but Psalm 104 more closely parallels Job 38's statement about day 3 than the global flood.

The biggest lie of them all, both literally and figuratively, is the coverup of the existence of giants. Primary sources such as the Bible (heard of it?) speak of a race called the Nephilim. These larger-than-life offspring of angels and human women have been depicted in documentaries such as NOAH by Darren Aronofsky. Nephilim were said to have been destroyed in the Great Flood, but a race of giant people supposedly persisted on Earth into contemporary times. If this news comes as a surprise to you, there is one group to blame: the evil Smithsonian Institution, whose alleged purpose is to destroy the remains of giant skeletons so the lie of evolution can persist. Fortunately, some brave souls like the creator of A RACE OF GIANTS boldly proclaim this history and were able to sneak it past the censors. The documentary teaches us a few things: 1) that throughout North America, the bones of giant humans and even fossilized remains of their giant tools (pause) have been found and then lost through a series of unfortunate coincidences or outright archaeological malice; 2) that the legend of Big Guys has existed in many ancient cultures for a reason, because sometimes guys are really tall; and 3) that certain findings, such as the famous Guadalupe Woman skeleton embedded in rock formations inappropriate for the generally accepted carbon dating of Earth, supposedly go as far as to disprove the very concept of evolution. This week Andrew and Ted sit down to discuss the Netflix South Korean original thriller film "The Great Flood". Antarctica is hit by an asteroid causing the glaciers to instantly melt raising the ocean levels quickly along with sending tsunami outward. An-na, an AI researcher, is awaken by her son as the water levels have hit their apartment on the 3rd floor of their 30 floor complex. An-na receives a call from her boss letting her know that someone is coming to get her but she should proceed to the roof of her apartment complex. After gathering few items, An-na and her son Ja-in leave their apartment and head towards the roof. They meet up with Hee-jo, sent to insure her safety to the roof where a helicopter will be waiting. Fighting the rising waters, along with instances arising from her neighbors as well as additional tsunami's An-na, Ja-in, and Hee-jo make it to the roof where the audience discovers a secret about An-na her job and Ja-in.

The historiographical studies developed by Ruth Rodríguez Sotomayor, agraduate librarian of the University of Guayaquil, researcher at the HistoricalArchive of Guayas, and lecturer, are extraordinary. Her studies go beyond the limits of traditional historiography, or rather, they transcend the boundaries of the orthodox history, as Ruth Rodríguez Sotomayor rescues and exposes, through the study of symbols, the arts, sciences, and philology, of an almost unknown past of the Americas.And to speak of the Americas is to speak of the continent of civilizing godswhose traces are today silent vestiges of the original Golden Age.Certainly, Rodríguez Sotomayor's work opposes the aforementionedorthodox or “official” version, and thus, consequently, becomes a revolutionaryproposal.One of the most important fields of her studies is the prefiguration of theorigin of mankind in South America and the spread of its civilization to othercontinents. They are therefore connected to the essential works of distinguishedresearchers such as the multidisciplinary Francisco P. Moreno, the philologist andethnologist Emeterio Villamil de Rada, and the archaeologist Roberto Rengifo,since Rodríguez Sotomayor recognizes in America –or Pre-America as she aptlysheds light on it, that is, the America before the known America– as the nucleusfrom which the civilizing group emerged, migrating, projecting, and settling indifferent centers of the globe, expanding its civilization.Rafael Videla Eissmann (Chile, 1979) is a historian graduated from UniversidadCatólica de Chile. The first Moomins story about a family of nature-loving white round trolls was published in 1945 during World War Two. The Moomins and the Great Flood was created by writer and artist Tove Jansson as a source of comfort during bleak times. It highlighted the struggles of those who'd been displaced by war introducing readers into the lives of Moomintroll, Moominmamma and Moominpappa. Tove's tales and illustrations, featuring the cuddly creatures with smooth round snouts, are loved the world over and have been published in more than 60 languages. She was born in Finland but her first language was Swedish, which the original Moomins books were published in.
