On today's episode, we talk about one of the most talked about battles in European History: The 732 battle of Tours. Variously called one of the most important battles in European history or a minor skirmish, the battle had a large impact on the minds of Medieval Europeans. But what might have happened if it had gone different?

One of the most important discoveries that any Chrisitian can make is finding where God has gifted them to serve.

Friday of the Fourth Week of EasterJn 14:1-6Jesus said to his disciples:“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me.In my Father's house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?"
Plug 'em in and pass 'em around - the microphones, that is! Four microphones to be exact. And four men, for the last MAN TALK, convene a roundtable on this crucial leading question. Two hosts and two guest hosts have a very timely and important conversation. A really great conversation. A beautiful conversation. By the end, each man reveals how he'll be voting in the 2024 --okay, not really. But they do each finally give their conclusion on the question at hand. (Feel free to weigh in, dear listener, by emailing us at mightymen@manhoodrestored.tv)Craig Flack and Andy Muhlenkamp are two very thoughtful and mighty men. They join Ben and Chad to add some healthy balance to this ("HUGE") politically charged topic. Craig is the Pastor at Celina First Church of God in Celina, Ohio; Andy is a member of the sure-to-be-renowned-someday local book club, the Blinklings. The four face the elephants (and donkeys) in the MR "studio". Which presidential option is more problematic for a Christian-in-good-conscience: Trump or Biden? Do the various elements at play in today's political landscape make it uniquely difficult for a Chrisitian to stay faithful in his beliefs AND be engaged in the political process? And how can a man's core identity be a key to whether or not he's voting faithfully on any given issue or for any particular candidate?
Tuesday of the Third Week of LentMt 18:21-35Peter approached Jesus and asked him,“Lord, if my brother sins against me,how often must I forgive him?As many as seven times?”Jesus answered, “I say to you, not seven times but seventy-seven times."
Wednesday of the Fifth Week in Ordinary TimeMk 7:14-23Jesus summoned the crowd again and said to them,“Hear me, all of you, and understand.Nothing that enters one from outside can defile that person;but the things that come out from within are what defile.”

Today's episode of the Alex McFarland Show, provides answers to more of the questions that you asked about God, the Bible and the Chrisitian faith. Does God condone polygamy and homosexuality? If not, why was there mention of each in the Bible? Did God approve of genocide? If not, why did He command the Israelites to kill all the people in specific towns? Why can't Christians agree on the age of the earth? Is it thousands of years old, or millions of years old? Alex answers all of these and more to help listeners get a better understanding of the questions that are often asked in an attempt to discredit Christianity. While no human being will ever have a definitive list of answers regarding matters of faith, Alex points listeners in the way of good interpretation of the Bible. Thursday in the Octave of EasterLk 24:35-48While they were still speaking about this, he stood in their midst and said to them, "Peace be with you." But they were startled and terrified and thought that they were seeing a ghost. Then he said to them, "Why are you troubled? And why do questions arise in your hearts? Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you can see I have.”
Thursday of the Fifth Week of LentJn 8:51-59Jesus answered, "If I glorify myself, my glory is worth nothing; but it is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, 'He is our God.' You do not know him, but I know him.”

The Creation cycle and the Story of Noah exist in other Near Easter beliefs, but their purpose is different. Those stories are filled with elements that would seem strange to a modern Chrisitian; The gods that these stories borrow from are vulnerable, and they exist in a world of powerful demons, and can be fooled by magic spells or simple human ingenuity. This is a world of difference from the idea of Jehovah, all wise, all knowing, all powerful. The most obvious example of the creation story. God makes a garden and dresses it. He creates a gardener to tend it, a man in his own image. Unlike God, Adam cannot be alone, so God creates a woman from Man's side, telling both of his new creations that they are forbidden from eating the tree of knowledge of Good and Evil, which grows there. Eve is tempted by the serpent, and she convinces her husband to eat of it as well. That leads to this odd passage: “And the LORD God said, "The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever. So the LORD God banished him from the Garden of Eden to work the ground from which he had been taken.” - Genesis 3:23 This seems to suggest a rivalry between God and human beings, something unfamiliar to modern Christianity. There are other ways in which this God seems unfamiliar to modern Christianity. He is a tribal God, who plays favorites. He repents of having made man, so he floods the earth to wipe out all of mankind. “And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.” - Genesis 6: 5-7 This God also demands absolute obedience. Later, when God chooses the patriarch Abraham for an exclusive pact: Reading from - Genesis 22: 1-15 Contrast this with the vision of God presented later, in the New Testament. “This is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.” - 1 John 1:5 “The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” - 1 John 4:8 Is this the same God? It suggests a few things, that either the nature of God is dynamic, and can change, or the nature of God is immutable than these are stories about him, someone from the outside making assumptions about what he saw and understood. In the world of classical Chrisitian education, if there is one enemy that has the ability to undermine our work in shaping habits and affections, it is the one-eyed cyclop - the digital screen. We live in a tech world and are blessed in many ways because of it, but the all-pervasive screen voices flood into the eyes and minds of so many of our students, and us, for hours a day. Short of all heading off to Amish country, what can we do to be in the digital world, but not of it? My guest today begins with a thoughtful exploration of God's command for us as humans to have dominion over the earth, which includes technology. How do we make informed choices based on our faith and theology in a way that practically impacts our lives as adults and for the sake of our children?

Afsnit 383. Tina Dickow.
Are you having church is a few of you are watching TV each Sunday week together? Or maybe you do it alone? Is that church? Only 35 percent nationally of those who left church in the pandemic ever came back. The Apostle John said if they leave, it shows they were never really with you. That's kind of harsh but it's BIble. In the meantime a whole new groups has come. It's time to hear truth about who these kids are and what it will take to go and reach them. Also, Mellinnials, Generation Z and Generation ALPHA (those that are 10 and under but not finished being born.) This group is just two generations from being a huministic athiestic socieity. It's what happened to Europe. Baby Boomes are more than 35 percent Christian. Gen X is 16 percent Christian. Mellinnialls are less than 4 persent Chrisitian. Gen Z is reportedly less than 1 percent Chritian adding them to the list of 7400 unreached people groups, right here in America. And I shutter to think of where that leaves alpha without any role models. BUT I AM a positive Guy. I believe in miracles and I believe in revival. Charles FInney said "God sends revivals when we need them." Well Lord, we need revival right about now. Let's have prayer for it and in the mean time share Jesus all over America and the world to every geneation expecting good results!!!! Amen???!

It wasn't the big splash 2019, but Brian Gutekunst signed two veterans at under-market prices in what could pay big dividends on 2020. Christian Kirksey, when healthy, is an extremely reliable three-down linebacker and Rick Wagner looks to be the Day 1 starter at right tackle. Are the Packers better? Is Green Bay done? This episode of the Good Neighbear discusses the new book, Christian Hospitality and Muslim Immigration in an Age of Fear, with author, Dr. Matthew Kaemingk, Assistant Professor of Christian Ethics and Associate Dean of Fuller Theological Seminary. In this book Kaemingk offers a thought-provoking Christian perspective. Rejecting both fearful nationalism and romantic multiculturalism, he makes the case for a third way - a Christian pluralism that is committed to both the historic Christian faith and the public rights, dignity, and freedom of Islam.
