Readings for the Feast of the Most Holy Body & Blood of Christ: Exodus 24: 3-8; Mark 14:12-16; 22-26On this feast, we recall not only the words of Jesus, but the words of Moses - and what that sacrifice demands of us. We are not mere observers of God's action. We participate. And that is wonderful and scary. We are meant to be taken, blessed, broken and shared. Or in other words, we are meant to be shed. It is not only Christ on the altar every Mass, it is us. That's what we say Amen to every weekend. That's the renewal of our marriage vows.Special thanks to Bridget Zenk for her composition and performing of our intake and outtake music. And special thanks to all of you who continue to listen and share this podcast with others. I'm humbled and grateful. Have a question or comment? Feel free to pass them my way at pdjoezenk@gmail.com
Jesus asked, “Who do you say that I am?” Make no mistake. That is the most important question in the world. And it is a question every human must answer. A complimentary answer can still be dead wrong. Some in Jesus' day thought he was John the Baptist or the prophet Elijah come back from the dead. Complimentary, but dead wrong. Today plenty of people believe Jesus existed. They believe he was a wise teacher or a role model for love. Complimentary, but dead wrong if missing the main point. Jesus is both Lord and Savior, the Messiah, the Son of the living God. This truth is the core of saving faith. It is the central message God has called our church to proclaim. What does God want in a church? He wants a church that clings to Jesus Christ.

Listen, I hope y'all are ready because Andi Andrew is on today and she brings a WHOLE WORD about relationships, broken belief systems and living lives that pursue the way, truth and life in Jesus! Andi is passionate about God, His word and His people and doing the work of being a human in this broken world so you can connect more deeply with God and with people. She'll share in this conversation about what it was like for her family living and leading a church in NYC during the pandemic, and what was revealed to her about the hearts and relationships within the body of Christ locally and globally that ultimately deeply informed the book on her heart called: Friendship–It's Complicated Avoid the Drama, Create Authentic Connection, and Fulfill Your Purpose Together. This book is more than just examining relationships, it cuts to the heart of the matter and calls us to look at the broken belief systems that inhibit our relationships from growing, and keep us from growing more into the image of Christ and who we were made to be. Andi asks big questions in her book and in this conversation such as: are we living the way and the truth and the life of Jesus or our own way? What's the difference between healthy boundaries and building walls of isolation? A deep, healing, and restorative work is needed in each and every one of us so that we can love who we are created to be, and love others as they are created to be as image bearers of God. Be sure and check out Andi's free resources, her books, that are all linked in our show notes and blog! AND if you're interested we'll be reading her book for this month's Simply Stories Book Club! Head to the link in bio to connect with Andi, the book club, and to hear the episode. Wherever you are friends, just remember that this is not how the story ends. That you matter, your story matters. “He will complete the work He began in You until the day of completion” Thanks for hanging out with me and I'll see you next time. In today's sermon we are learning about: - The importance of studying the Old Testament; - How the whole bible connects and tells one big story; - And how the life of Moses and the life of his parents can teach so much about what faith is and how it looks real in real life. And as we walk through our text it will become very clear how Moses' life is the perfect foreshadowing of Jesus' life and ministry. Hope you enjoy it!

Today on the podcast, I have one incredible episode for you as I am chatting with author, speaker, teacher and host of the Bible Recap Podcast, Tara Leigh Cobble. Tara Leigh is a woman whose love for the Lord and His Word are contagious. Her podcast, and new Bible Recap book that came out just last week, are specifically designed to help others unpack the entire narrative of the Bible and bring it to life. Tara Leigh shares with me the story of how her relationship with scripture was stripped down to a realization of using it to get what she wanted from God and finding things that we had to do instead of learning about Him and moving into a real relationship with Him. When Tara Leigh began to read the WHOLE Bible, she began to see things she never saw before and that was hard to stomach sometimes, and then she was encouraged to keep going and press through to the other side. To unpack the hard parts of scripture and that the Lord would meet her there. And that’s what she did, and now what she spends her life doing with others. Y’all, I know everyone listening to this is full of feelings. If you listen to this episode on the back end of 2020, or some other time, there is just a lot happening in the world, and there is never a bad time to learn about who God is and how to learn about unpacking the word of God so we can overflow with hope. This is a life giving practice no matter where you are, and for where we sit right now, this is just.. Right on time. We need to be sure we are aligning our hearts with Christ above all else, and this conversation is like a mini-master class on how to truly dwell in the Word of God. What a great way to search and find evidence and encouragement that God is not finished with your life, and that He will do what He says. He will complete the work He began in you. He will never leave us or forsake us. No matter where you are today, friend: hopeful or restless, encouraged or anxious, know that you are seen, known, and loved, and you matter. Your story matters. --- This Episode is Sponsored by: Hopefuel Check them out here. (This link is an affiliate link that helps support the podcast. Thank you!)
