The Comic Book industry is in a lot of trouble in 2025. Diamond has filed for bankruptcy, stiffing many smaller publishers, and the cost of printing might go up due to tariffs. There could be a trickle-down effect that hits shops, putting many more out of business. But wait, there's more -- both IDW and Dark Horse are laying more people off. Good time, good times... ✨ Shadowbinders Pin Set Campaign - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nydaria/shadowbinders-steampunk-fantasy-hard-enamel-pin-set-series-1

The comic book industry will NEVER be the same after Diamond filed for bankruptcy. We talk about the MILLIONS owed to publishers and vendors, and the "trickle down" effect this could have on small press, shops and creators. Diamond's bankruptcy leaves publishers and vendors owed millions, potentially causing a catastrophic ripple effect throughout the entire comic book industry. The "trickle down" impact of Diamond's collapse could devastate small press publishers, local comic shops, and independent creators who rely heavily on Diamond's distribution network. The comic book industry will "never be the same" post-Diamond bankruptcy, forcing a radical restructuring of distribution channels and business models. Diamond's financial instability and delayed payments to publishers and creators may have been ongoing issues that contributed to the industry's vulnerability before the bankruptcy.
Diamond has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, and this casts some major doubt on the entire direct market going forward. While Marvel and DC have distribution handled through other distributors, many smaller publishers rely on Diamond, as do shops. Is 2025 the year the Direct Market dies off?
