The Buddies found themselves in an unfamiliar section of the book store this week, as they wandered into the the non-fiction arena. This week we have the privilege of closing out the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy by watching, reviewing, and ranking Revenge of the Sith as a part of our Star Wars movie marathon. In this movie it has been three years since the Clone Wars began. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) rescue Chancellor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) from General Grievous, the commander of the droid armies, but Grievous escapes. Suspicions are raised within the Jedi Council concerning Chancellor Palpatine, with whom Anakin has formed a bond. Asked to spy on the chancellor, and full of bitterness toward the Jedi Council, Anakin embraces the Dark Side. #starwars #darthvader #skywalker Time Codes 00:00 - Intro 06:55 - The Opening crawl 10:30 - Initial Thoughts/ Reactions this time 23:45 - Movie Talk 1:11:50 - Lightsaber Duels Ranked 1:29:14 - Favorite Character 1:38:50 - Favorite Scene 1:48:50 - Box office/ budget 1:49:25 - Academy Awards 1:50:45 - Critic scores 1:52:50 - Our Scores out of 10 2:08:25 - OUR Ranking/Where is Falls 2:12:35 - Next Week is Clone Wars: The Movie Check us out on Letterboxd Ben's Letterboxd: https://boxd.it/5nFMd Ethan's Letterboxd: https://boxd.it/4QIVr Micah's Letterboxd: https://boxd.it/1bjyt Intro and Outro theme is from @Auralnauts Andor synthwave and "The Book of Boba Fett" (synthwave cover) Follow us on Instagram https://instagram.com/multiversemonologues?utm_medium=copy_link Logo done by the fabulous @chameleo.angel on instagram. The Buddies are (Matt) Crusing through books so far this year checking off Airborn by Kenneth Oppel from their list. Airborn had a little bit of everything, an alternate world, airships, and pirates. Combine those things with the fact that it is written for younger adults and it adds up to the perfect mix for the Buddies. It got them discussing the love for inanimate objects, big Zepplin, and the advantages of being stranded on a desert island. So check your career ambitions at the door, pack yourself some hydrium, and maybe a weapon or two, and join us as we take-off into Airborn. The Buddies take a stroll down the non-fiction aisle this week, reading Killers of the Flower Moon by David Grann. The new Leonardo DiCaprio/Martin Scorsese film of the same title got them jazzed up to read this popular book. The Buddies tried to keep things light despite the shockingly true story of the Osage Murders of the 1920s. They got to chatting about Wizzbang, Oklahoma, moonshine, prison sentencing/capital punishment, and showing up to negotiations naked. So before you go to the movie, let the Buddies fill you up with knowledge (read: useless ramblings)!Intro: (0:00-2:44)Stock Up/Down (2:45-26:42)Favorite Character (26:43-27:33)Love Hate (27:34-33:05)Movie Notes & Casting (33:06-34:35)Conclusion (34:36-37:08)Next Book: SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK by ALVIN SCHWARTZ

Welcome back!! We wouldn't be doing our due diligence if we didn't give the ladies a chance to be featured for that whole Character Actor thing. We talked about our favorite five fellas a couple of weeks ago, now we'll dish about the ladies! To be clear, what makes someone a "Character Actress?" A 'character actress' typically refers to an actress who specializes in playing distinctive, unique, and often supporting roles that are memorable due to their personality, appearance, or quirks. These roles often deviate from conventional leading or romantic roles and require the ability to portray a wide range of characters. Character actresses are known for their versatility, transformative performances, and ability to bring depth to supporting roles, adding richness to the storytelling. We also somewhat operated under the same "code" from the Character Actor episode, which basically identified these rules, as previously posted on New York Magazine's VULTURE site: ➼ The Jenkins Rule: If a performer has been nominated for an Oscar, that performer is ineligible. ➼ The Dowd-Martindale Rule: If a performer has won a lead or supporting actor Emmy, that performer is ineligible. (Winners of an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor are permitted.) ➼ The Hahn Rule: If a performer currently works primarily as a lead, that performer is ineligible. OH NO! Spoiler Alert!!!! Does anyone with the last name Hahn or Martindale factor into today's episode? I guess you'll have to listen and see!!
As we speed towards the end of Season 4, there's one stop we've been dreading this whole time: 2009's THE FINAL DESTINATION. Designated by both critics and fans as the franchise's absolute nadir, the fourth film in the franchise was filmed in 3D while the characters barely qualify as two-dimensional - and we're here to break down every splattered torso, pierced organ, and severed, floppy limb on display!! Along the way, we talk about visiting the Pipe Mall of America, debate the wisdom of naming characters “Milf” and “Racist,” discover that Craig R. Ellis is one of the most covered horror directors on the show, and grant Favorite Character status to an unlikely water-gun sporting child!! All this, plus a “deathtacular” edition of Choose Your Own Deathventure, and we explore why all the CGI is full of skeletons, but no one's body seems to contain any bones!! We're bidding Final Destination a fond farewell - until the surprise continuation - on Kill By Kill!! The Buddies enter into book 1 of the Silo Series, Wool by Hugh Howey, and it did not disappoint. The dark, futuristic dystopian story was right up the Buddies' alley, and certainly scratched the itch (the doctors are still working on those other itches). Plus, Apple TV just released the first season of the show to pair with it. Per usual the buddies had some deep conversations about sociology and governance, plus opposable/disposable thumbs, germs being all mental, and why it isn't always good to be the main character. So stay inside, breakout the StairMaster, read up on the Anaconda Plan, and join us as we tear through Wool.Intro: (0:00-1:51)Stock Up/Down (1:52-33:08)Favorite Character (33:09-36:55)Love/Hate (36:56-46:11)Conclusion (46:12-47:53) Next Book: THE RAGE OF DRAGONS by EVAN WINTER

It's officially summer (for all our northern hemisphere listeners), so the Buddies are jumping into some beach reads. They kicked things off with Wrong Place Wrong Time by Gillian McAllister. The time jumping murder mystery thriller, had the Buddies discussing Instagram's 'for you' section, interview questions, and how they would have made the book ending a lot darker. So don't respond to that work email, read up on your physics, and jump into the Buddy Book Club time-loop as we read Wrong Place Wrong Time.Intro: (0:00-2:20)Stock Up/Down (2:21-26:15)Favorite Character (26:16-26:58)Love/Hate (26:59-39:39)Listener Mail (39:40-41:30)Casting the Movie (41:31-42:29)Conclusion (42:30-45:00) Next Book: THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE by C.
