Have you found that diets promise you control, clarity, and confidence—but all-too-often they deliver the exact opposite? For many Highly Sensitive Christian women, diets come with hidden costs: disconnection from our bodies exhaustion from trying to “do it right” confusion about who we can actually trust. In today's episode, guest co-host Brandice Lardner and I have an honest, grace-filled conversation about how food became a primary coping tool for so many of us at such a young age, why dieting typically backfires, and what it looks like to pursue health without pressure, fear, or shame. In this powerful episode, Mike “C-Roc” welcomes Natalie Jurado, founder of Rooted In and a leading educator in magnesium-based wellness, for an inspiring conversation about grit, healing, and reclaiming your life. Natalie opens up about the years she spent battling crippling insomnia, anxiety, and panic attacks—despite doing “everything right.” When traditional medicine dismissed her symptoms as “normal,” she chose instead to redefine what normal meant for her. That decision launched a relentless journey through biohacking, holistic therapies, and countless dead ends—until a chance encounter at a farmer's market introduced her to the therapeutic power of magnesium. What followed changed everything. Natalie shares how transdermal magnesium transformed her sleep, restored her health, and ignited her mission to spread awareness of this often-overlooked mineral. Natalie and C-Roc dive into the science behind magnesium, the epidemic of deficiency affecting millions, and simple ways listeners can begin supporting their mind and body today. Along the way, Natalie also reflects on her lively Puerto Rican upbringing, her family's bold leap of faith during childhood, meeting her husband at 13, and the role that faith, resilience, and growth have played in her story. This episode is an inspiring reminder that healing is possible, answers are out there, and you're never stuck with someone else's “normal.”Website-berootedin.com Social Media Links/Handles:instagram.com/berootedin tiktok.com/@berootedi

This month, I'm slowing down — not to plan more, but to see more. In today's episode, I'm talking about something I believe every microschool founder needs before stepping into a new year: an Autumn Audit. I know how it feels to get caught up in the whirlwind of running your school — the lesson plans, family communications, finances, tours, and events. But if we're not careful, we can move so fast that we stop seeing the beauty of what we've built. The Autumn Audit is a moment to pause and look at your school — or even just the dream of your school — through new eyes. Whether you're already open and serving families or you're just beginning to build, this reflection process helps you realign your space, your systems, and your spirit with the vision God first placed in your heart. ✨ In This Episode, I'm Sharing: Why reflection is the most important — and often most neglected — leadership skill for microschool founders. The real reason burnout happens (and how to course-correct before January). The simple questions I'm asking myself during my own Autumn Audit at Lighthouse Learning. How to see your microschool through the eyes of your parents, staff, and students — and use that feedback to grow. What's included inside this month's Microschool Masterminds experience, including: My Autumn Audit Workbook A Kid-Friendly School Audit Checklist (students love this one!) The Staff & Community Reflection Guide And the Parent Post-Tour Follow-Up Template to turn curiosity into connection.
Send us a textA putter on a garage shelf became a doorway to memory, legacy, and what it means to lead at home. Coach and author Joe Wessel joins us to trace a winding path from a disciplined Miami childhood and Catholic schools to a walk-on grind at Florida State, summers learning from Miami Dolphins legends, and the day Jack Nicklaus confirmed the “lost” blade in Joe's bag was White Fang—the putter that won the 1967 U.S. Open. Instead of asking for a shiny new set, Joe asked for something better: a father–son round at Augusta. We talk about what built him: a mother who showed up at every game, a father who enforced persistence and faith, and a military prep school that hardened habits after loss. Joe shares the reality of earning a scholarship the hard way, becoming a special teams difference-maker, and absorbing leadership from many mentors in his life. The athletic details are rich—technique, timing, depth charts—but the bigger arc lands on fatherhood: discovering that the hero you searched for might have been at your own dinner table all along.Parents and coaches will find practical wisdom here: don't specialize your kids at 10, grow athletes, not resumes, protect the joy of play, and let your children write their own story. Say I'm sorry. Say I love you. Keep faith as a daily practice, not a performance. We close with the heart of Joe's book, White Fang and the Golden Bear—a father–son journey that culminates at Augusta and proves that the best trophies are moments shared. In a raw, heartfelt conversation, Alabama State Rep. Reed Ingram sits down to share a story that's far more than politics—it's a powerful testimony of redemption, resilience, and purpose. From living homeless on a beach in Pensacola as a child to becoming a successful entrepreneur and lawmaker, Ingram's life is a vivid reminder that no past is too broken for God to redeem. The episode kicks off with a lighthearted dive into the secret behind the famously delicious watermelons at Sweet Creek, Ingram's popular farm market located right off the beach-bound highways of Alabama. But it quickly goes deeper as he opens up about a childhood scarred by addiction, instability, and years without schooling. Taken by his mother at age seven after his parents' divorce, he spent much of his early life sleeping in roadside parks and restrooms—avoiding crime by hiding in the safest places he could find. At 17, after a brush with the law and a near-tragic incident involving a stolen car and the governor's mansion, Reed found himself at a crossroads. What followed was a divine intervention—marrying the daughter of a preacher, starting a business with nothing but faith, and slowly rebuilding his life. By God's guidance, he launched six successful businesses and became a steady presence in Alabama's legislature. Yet Reed has never forgotten where he came from—or the God who carried him. Sweet Creek is more than a fruit stand; it's a ministry in motion. With 800 young applicants each year, he's instilling work ethic, teaching life skills, and connecting families back to their roots in agriculture and community. This interview is a wake-up call, reminding us of what's possible when someone refuses to be defined by their past—and instead lets purpose, faith, and hard work define their future. Listen in and be inspired.

Before we dive deeper into exploring the sacred expressions of your inner masculine and feminine, and what balance really looks like, and how to anchor this union into your daily life, I want to pause. To speak of the fire. Because in order to embody the sacred and divine inner masculine and inner feminine energies within, the density needs to be released, the wounding needs to be alchemised. And before inner union can become possible, comes the unravelling. Before the balance, there is the burning. This post is a devotion to the initiations through fire — the gritty, painful, soul-forging passages that are required to truly rise. Inner union is not pink, fluffy love and light. It's much more than self-care rituals, rose petals on your altar and crystal grids on your shelf. It is holy fire. A sacred burn that doesn't just cleanse — it annihilates. It dismantles the false, the illusion, the ego. The rise into inner divine union — which is the reunion of your inner masculine and feminine energies — is not a pretty process. It's Shamanic. Raw. Primal. Somatic. It asks everything of you. And when you are feeling completely broken, it then asks for more. This is the path of the alchemist, not the dreamer.
She broke records. She earned the accolades. She defied the odds. And she’s just getting started! But Izzie Smulik’s story isn’t just about soccer…it’s about rising through adversity with grit, grace, and an unshakable faith in God’s plan. In this inspiring episode, Dr. ZachClinton sits down with his second cousin, Izzie Smulik, a standout high school soccer star from E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, VA. In just three years, Izzie became the school’s all-time leading scorer and points leader — for both boys and girls — earning titles like 1st Team All-State, ODP Regional Player, and most recently, a spot on a semi-pro team out of Charlottesville. But Izzie’s journey hasn’t been easy. From growing up with ADHD and dyslexia to being told she’d never play D1 soccer or graduate early, she’s overcome it all with the support of her family, her faith, and the game she loves. In this conversation, Zach and Izzie unpack: her recent invitation to compete with the Capelli Sports North American team in Denmark this week, her excitement about signing a full-ride to Liberty University Women’s Soccer, how soccer became a steadying force and a source of purpose, what it means to persevere with character through adversity, and the role of faith, family, and fierce determination in her growth every step of the way. If you’ve ever felt underestimated, overlooked, or unsure of what’s next, Izzie’s story will remind you that with faith and fight, “impossible” just becomes the new starting line.

In this special fourth appearance, Wes Plate returns to HappyCast with a full breakdown of the inaugural Copper Kings 100—Montana's newest hundred-mile race and his most ambitious project yet. With co-hosts Stephanie and Andrew, Wes opens up about what it took to bring this dream to life: from months of preparation and a jam-packed U-Haul to navigating stormy skies, deadfall-filled trails, and the high-stakes logistics of a remote mountain race. Spoiler: not even a lightning storm during the race briefing could shake this crew.Stephanie recaps her experience captaining the Our Lady of the Rockies aid station—a mountaintop post where she and a team of volunteers (including both her and Wes's moms) kept runners alive with mashed potatoes, heated bathrooms, and the occasional mid-hallucination pep talk. Between walking every runner up the hill, managing drop bags and puke blankets, and making sure no one missed the cutoff, this became a spiritual checkpoint for runners and crew alike. With 90 finishers out of 105 starters and only one DNS, the Copper Kings 100 defied all expectations for a first-year race. Wes reflects on what went right, what he learned, and how much this community has grown around a course that winds through solitude, scenery, and suffering. Whether you're an aspiring race director, a trail runner dreaming of Montana, or just here for stories about flamingo costumes and blowing up propane heaters, this episode is packed with heart, hustle, and humor.Be sure to subscribe to the podcast wherever you listen, and we always appreciate you leaving a good rate and review. Maybe you're just curious to know how smart living can change your life. Darlene and Julie are taking it back to the basics in this episode, chatting through the origin story of our nonprofit, Grit and Grace Life, and the mission God placed on Darlene's heart to create a space where women could feel seen and encouraged and gain wisdom through life's highs and lows by hearing other women's stories. Episode Summary Hey, friends! It's Michelle Lynne, and today on Design for the Creative Mind, I'm thrilled to introduce you to someone truly special—Krystal Reinhard, the CEO and principal designer of Old Soul Design Studio. Krystal and I go way back, connecting through my Interior Design Business Bakery, and we've had the joy of meeting in person several times. In this episode, we dive into Krystal's design-build journey, her unique aesthetic, and how her experiences have shaped her thriving business. Krystal's business, Old Soul Design Studio, operates as a full-service design-build firm with a showroom in downtown West Chester, Pennsylvania. She shares how the firm has evolved over the years, shifting from a seven-day-a-week showroom to a more strategic hybrid model that accommodates both public and private spaces. It's fascinating to hear how she balances a robust portfolio of renovation projects, furnishings, and showroom management with a committed focus on transparency and client education. We also talk about how her European heritage, coupled with her cross-country experiences, influences her design style. Krystal's aesthetic beautifully marries West Coast Mediterranean vibes with the timeless charm of East Coast architecture. And yes, that passion for blending styles is a nod to her “old soul” nature—something people have called her since she was young. A big highlight of this episode is learning about the intentional way Krystal handles the design-to-build process. She explains why design comes first, followed by construction planning, which allows for better budget transparency and project execution. Her emphasis on creating a high-touch, tailored client experience stands out in an industry often riddled with miscommunications and unexpected costs. We also dive into her personal journey. Krystal shares how her upbringing as a first-generation American and her background in fine arts and education shaped her approach to design. She reflects on the challenges of being a woman on construction sites, the lessons learned from working with both great and not-so-great contractors, and how she's built a team of craftspeople she trusts deeply. This conversation is brimming with insights—whether you're a homeowner planning a renovation, a designer building your business, or just someone who loves hearing about design journeys, you're going to love this episode! Key Takeaways from Our Conversation Krystal's Unique Aesthetic: From California's Spanish-Mediterranean influences to the colonial charm of Pennsylvania, her work celebrates diverse architectural styles. The Design-Build Approach: Krystal walks us through her process of designing first, focusing on client needs, and then creating realistic construction budgets, ensuring a smooth and transparent experience. Empowering Women in the Industry: Krystal shares how she's navigated construction sites with confidence and mentors her team to do the same.
