Today I am joined by Margaret and Sarah, sisters and co-founders of Fraulein Boots! In their own words...WE WANT CUTER BOOTS.Vintage style, timeless, comfortable, to wear to football games, rodeos, shopping trips, concerts and carpool. We are sisters with an authentic, unique style that embodies our brand. Cowboy boots have been on our feet since we were little girls. Our hero was Crystal Gayle. We saw her at the Houston rodeo with hair to her waist twirling around with sparkles and boots. We had stars in our eyes…One of our favorite family trips was to Whispering Wind's dude ranch in Bandera, TX. Our parents were entertaining friends from Scotland and wanted to show them a cowboy experience of Texas in the 80s. They took us to an iconic honky-tonk, Arkey Blues' Silver Dollar Saloon. Walking in the door, you head directly down some rickety old stairs with smoke in the air and the smell of pork ribs in a crock pot, this dark musty joint was like nothing we'd ever seen. The sawdust on the floor begged us to ask why?The answer was in the two steps and the boots sliding across the floor. Just like they don't make honky-tonks like Arkey Blues anymore, we feel like they don't design cowboy boots like they used to.Our late father's favorite song was Fraulein written by Lawton Williams and sung by Bobby Helms 1957. We named our boot line, Fraulein Boots, as an homage to our late father and a tribute to honky tonk nostalgia. Fraulein's WebsiteFraulein's InstagramFarm Aid

THE BIG IDEA: Seeing the thread of God's character even in the most tension riddled and tumultuous relationships in our lives. The point of this series is to look at the Bible - the stories and see that God is God. In the tension, the hate, the challenges of all types of relationships, you can see the thread of God's character. His faithfulness, His mercy, His kindness, His justice. He is who He says He is. He will do what He says He will do. These stories show us who He is and in them we find our own stories and can look to see God and how He shows up for us. He will get the glory in your story, if you let Him. NEW HERE? We'd love to connect with you. GEORGIA RADIO - Grammy®, AMA, ACM, and CMA award-winning country music singer and Grand Ole Opry member Crystal Gayle has joined forces with The Glenn Miller Orchestra for a new rendition of the classic “Sentimental Journey,” which is the first single from the new album on Hindsight Records, The Glenn Miller Orchestra: 80th Anniversary Of The Army Air Force Band which contains fifteen hits newly recorded with strings. Initially recorded by Doris Day and Les Brown, “Sentimental Journey” became a massive hit during World War II and continues to stand the test of time. Premiered by People.com, “Sentimental Journey” features the timeless vocals of Crystal Gayle combined with the unforgettable arrangements of The Glenn Miller Orchestra. The Glenn Miller Orchestra: 80th Anniversary Of The Army Air Force Band is available for pre-order and will be released on April 5th."I am honored and excited to be invited to sing "Sentimental Journey" with The Glenn Miller Orchestra," smiles Crystal Gayle. "I am a longtime fan of Glenn Miller and the big band era.""We are excited and pleased to present alongside Hindsight Records our new recording celebrating the 80th Anniversary of Glenn Miller's Army Air Force Band," shares Charles De Stefano, CEO of Glenn Miller Productions, Inc. "We are equally thrilled to have the wonderful Crystal Gayle join the Glenn Miller Orchestra on our recording of the great classic “Sentimental Journey.” We hope Glenn Miller Orchestra fans and Crystal's fans around the world enjoy this new dynamic recording."Between 1939 and 1942, Glenn Miller led The Glenn Miller Orchestra, which became one of the most recognized names globally during the “Swing” era. Boasting an unmatched series of chart-topping records, The Glenn Miller Orchestra surpassed the sales of Benny Goodman, Artie Shaw, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Jimmie Lunceford, Tommy Dorsey, and Harry James combined. Throughout three and a half years, Miller produced 16 chart-toppers and 72 top-ten hits, including a remarkable 31 in 1940 alone and earning the first-ever gold record for “Chattanooga Choo Choo.” Miller's music not only defined the era of World War II but has endured as a timeless soundtrack, with bands carrying his legacy performing to enthusiastic crowds over the 80 years since his passing. Today, under the direction of Erik Stabnau, the current Glenn Miller Orchestra maintains a rigorous schedule, standing as one of the few full-time big bands still thriving in the contemporary music scene."Crystal Gayle and The Glenn Miller Orchestra are a natural together on "Sentimental Journey" - a trip back in time to revisit the sounds of the 1940s and the perfect introduction to The Glenn Miller Orchestra: 80th Anniversary Of The Army Air Force Band." - Erik Stabnau - Music Director for The Glenn Miller OrchestraTo purchase/stream, visit CGayleGlennMillerOrch.lnk.to/SentimentalJourneySupport this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/georgia-radio/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

On Episode 143 of the RETROZEST podcast, Curtis speaks with the legendary singer, actor and composer, PAT BOONE! Pat was the second-biggest-charting artist of the late 1950s, behind only Elvis Presley, and was ranked at No. 9 in Billboard's listing of the Top 100 Top 40 Artists 1955–1995. Until the 2010s, he held the Billboard record for spending 220 consecutive weeks on the charts with one or more songs each week. He also holds the record for the most songs recorded by any recording artist. Pat and Curtis had a wonderful discussion about many things; including his role in the 1970 film Cross and the Switchblade, his 1997 album covering several heavy metal songs in a big band format, his corresponding appearance on the American Music Awards with Alice Cooper and Metallica, and other great moments from his long and varied career. He very recently released a new Country music album entitled Country Jubilee, wherein he returns to his country roots (and this album even features a cover of Crystal Gayle's hit duet song, You and I, which Pat recorded with Crystal herself). Pat also talks about his most recent book, If: The Eternal Choice We Must All Make. When she first started out, there was no way to possibly imagine just how important songs would become in her journey - both professionally and personally. Here she talks about that journey, which includes writing songs for Martina McBride, Willie Nelson, Tanya Tucker, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Crystal Gayle, Juice Newton, Bette Midler, and most famously co-writing Faith Hill's hit song “This Kiss”. She has released sixteen albums as a solo artist as well. Along the way, she also talks about processing grief and loss through music (and making music through grief). We spoke only weeks after her second husband, Bob passed away. Her first husband, Ernest, died in 1994. She also tells the stories behind many of her hit songs, and lays out her philosophy of creativity and craft, including what it means to “write from the center of your truth,” channeling humanity's “collective wisdom” and what it means to have “investment without attachment” in songwriting. Keeping It Real with Cam Marston

There's a tale radio people tell about why they got into radio. Does it apply to me? Well... -------- A story I've heard about people in radio is that many of them share a similar childhood experience: They tried to get their parent's attention but their parents shushed them – told them to be quiet – they're trying to listen to the man on the radio. The children begin to think that whatever is coming through the radio speaker is more important than what they want to say and later, those children begin a career in radio to get their parents to listen to them. Is it true? I don't know. Regardless, when I heard the story, I had to assess if that's the reason I've begun these commentaries and the business talk show I have on other stations across Alabama. My earliest memories of the radio are as a young boy of about ten. My father would wake me early in the morning on Saturdays in the winter and we'd drive north out of Mobile for a hunting club in the small dirt-road town of Suggsville, Alabama deep in Clarke County. We left well before daylight and I lie across the bench seat in the old yellow Jeep Cherokee in my hunting clothes with my head on my father's leg trying to get back to sleep while he drove. This was long before using seatbelts was a thing. The radio dial was the only light in the car, and it shined in my eyes while the radio played country music. I remember hearing the piano in Crystal Gayle's song “Don't It May My Brown Eyes Blue” and thinking, “Wow. I really like that” and I still really like it to this day. After that the memories jumble. I remember the Top 40 radio stations of the late seventies and eighties and one time as a pre-teen calling a station over and over again to request a song. When the DJ finally answered and I told him I wanted to hear - “Emotions” by the Bee Gees  and I'm shocked that I can remember that – and he said “Well…It's playing right now.” I had become so focused on dialing and redialing I stopped noticing what was playing. Alone in my bedroom, my face burned bright red in embarrassment and hoped that DJ couldn't ever figure out who I was. And I remember hearing Paul Harvey. There are over 3000 episodes of his The Rest of the Story. 3000! He did six per week, all about four minutes long. You can find his catalog online. Today when I listen, I hear that remarkable voice, that remarkable control in his delivery. His word choice, his inflections, his tone, his variations in speed to perfectly sculpt the story he was telling. Today I recognize those as the tools of his craft. Back then though, I just listened. Probably impatiently. Sitting in the car with my father or my mother in a parking lot somewhere in the middle of running an errand. “Mom” or “Dad”, I very likely said. “Can we get out now?
