It's too early for polls to accurately reflect the mood of the electorate in November, but the latest ones showing Trump and Clinton in statistical ties has the MOMocrats nervous. Not so fast - we need to build on the Obama legacy and push the Democratic platform left, say the Sanders folks. In the meantime: WHO ARE ALL THESE PEOPLE WHO WOULD PUT A MAD MAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE? MOMocrats Karoli, Cynematic and Donna Schwartz Mills try to talk each other down.

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia's untimely death over the holiday weekend has triggered something of a constitutional crisis, as Senate Republicans and GOP Presidential candidates immediately tried to make a case for leaving his seat on the Court vacant so the next President could appoint. President Obama announced that he will fulfill his constitutional duty and nominate a candidate to fill Scalia's seat. MOMocrats Karoli, Cynematic and Donna Schwartz Mills doubt that the GOP-led Congress will end the obstructionism that has marked their party's reaction to Obama's election back in 2008. In the meantime, several extremely important cases will be decided this session, and without Scalia's vote, many will end up in a 4-4 tie - which is the same as no decision at all. One thing is certain: If it had only been implied that this election is important because the next President will likely have to nominate new SCOTUS justices, it is now very much in the public's eye. This morning, the MOMocrats are celebrating the news that Karoli won't have to sit through another Republican debate this year. They talk about the clusterf**k that took place last night. Also on today's agenda: Yesterday's unprecedented closure of all 900+ campuses in the nation's second largest school system after a bomb threat that turned out to be a hoax and the context of making that decision in an atmosphere of fear following this month's San Bernardino massacre... and a look at what the Democratic candidates are doing (again: why did they schedule their debates on SATURDAY nights?) Cynematic, Karoli, and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss the week's politics from a progressive point of view. An Engender Media Group production.

Another week, another mass shooting. MOMocrats Karoli, Cynematic and Donna Schwartz Mills are as horrified as the rest of America at the senseless massacre of public employees in San Bernardino on Wednesday, but they wonder why the previous week's violence at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado wasn't also covered as an act of terrorism? According to this map published on Vox, there have been over 1,000 mass shootings in the three years since Sandy Hook, "with shooters killing at least 1,327 people and wounding 3,784 more." And while sane Americans everywhere ask for sensible laws that would make it harder for people to obtain guns for nefarious purposes, Congress has once again REJECTED a measure that would prevent dealers from selling guns to people on terrorist watch lists - AFTER the event in San Bernardino unfolded. How radical is Donald Trump's immigration plan? It would gut the 14th Amendment. And other GOP candidates are jumping on his bandwagon. To be fair, only Scott Walker has echoed Trump's sentiment on this so far, and other, more "grown-up" candidates like Jeb Bush and Lindsay Graham have pushed back on this idea. But the GOP likely voters responding to polls are eating Trump's antics up, so we ask: how long will it be before this becomes an official part of the Republican platform? In the meantime: Greece's problems are upsetting financial markets, the GOP clown bus keeps getting more crowded as 15 candidates fight among themselves for 10 spots in the first Fox News debate... and on the Democratic side of the ticket, reporters continue to write nasty articles about Hillary Clinton while basically ignoring the phenomenal drawing power of Bernie Sanders. MOMocrats Karoli, Cynematic and Donna Schwartz Mills discuss in this week's podcast looking at the day's political news from the progressive point of view.
