Send us a textIt took Dylan Neal several years to agree to do a podcast. He knows he can't hold himself from telling you like it is. But once the damn was broken, he felt he had more to share, and we appreciated it. He doesn't sugarcoat things but isn't vengeful or petty, either. He just tells it like it is. So grab a latte or brew some tea, put in the headphones, and have a listen. Follow us on social media: Instagram: @hallmarkmysteriesandmoreYoutubeOr visit our website. Send us a textIn this episode, we dive into the second installment of the Gourmet Detective series, A Healthy Place to Die. While we both love the series, this is Andrea's favorite because it takes place at a wellness retreat. We learned from our interview with Dylan Neal that this was supposed to be the 3rd mystery, but Hallmark canceled the second one and bumped A Healthy Place to Die up to that slot. This created a bit of a conundrum as Henry and Maggie headed off to spend the weekend at the resort together after just recently meeting. Did they pull it off without seeming weird? Listen and find out. Follow us on social media: Instagram: @hallmarkmysteriesandmoreYoutubeOr visit our website. Send us a textAfter our fascinating conversation with Dylan Neal we just had to dive into the Gourmet Detective series. This is our favorite mystery series for good reasons. It has excellent writing and fun mysteries, and the chemistry between Henry and Maggie is off the charts. In this episode, we look at the pilot of Gourmet Detective and discuss if it holds up with all the great new mysteries that have come out since the last Gourmet Detective in 2020.Follow us on social media: Instagram: @hallmarkmysteriesandmoreYoutubeOr visit our website. Send us a textWhat an amazing way to end the year!We all love Dylan Neal for his many roles in various Hallmark movies, most notably as Henry Ross of Gourmet Detective and Jack Griffith on Cedar Cove. But Dylan is more than just a face in Hallmark movies and mysteries; he is a writer, a producer, and a knowledgeable insider of the entertainment industry. In this candid conversation, Dylan doesn't pull any punches but pulls back the curtain and gives us a glimpse of the challenges of producing a movie for Hallmark. As fans, we see the polished end product of a movie, but the road getting there is often winding, looping, and full of hurdles. Sit back and sip on your monkey parchment coffee and enjoy this fascinating tour of behind the scenes of a Hallmark production.Follow us on social media: Instagram: @hallmarkmysteriesandmoreYoutubeOr visit our website. For our 113th episode, we dispense with the usual exhalations of the past in favor of the thrills of the tense present-future. Thief, the Los Angeles-based brainchild of visionary producer, Dylan Neal, has released one of 2024's most extraordinary albums, Bleed, Memory, a harrowing journey through the late stages of the human mind and spirit. Without giving away all of the album's treasures, this episode can be considered an act of seduction, a persuasion. We dare even the heartiest will to resist the siren strains of Bleed, Memory. Note I: Some insight into Dylan Neal's note to Jeff, mentioned in the early part of the episode (and the question that we borrowed for this episode's title): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Original_face Note II: Please consider donating if you listen to Radical Research often: https://www.paypal.me/rrpodcast We also have a webstore where you can find shirts, CDs, and books, many of them recently restocked: http://radicalresearch.org/shop/ Music cited in order of appearance: all songs from Thief, Bleed, Memory (2024) “Apparitions” “Cinderland” “Paramnesia” “Prankquean” “Dead Coyote Dreams” “Dulcinea” “Behemouth” “Pissing” “To Whom It May Concern” Radical Research is a conversation about the inner- and outer-reaches of rock and metal music. This podcast is conceived and conducted by Jeff Wagner and Hunter Ginn. Though we consume music in a variety of ways, we give particular privilege to the immersive, full-album listening experience. Likewise, we believe that tangible music formats help provide the richest, most rewarding immersions and that music, artwork, and song titles cooperate to produce a singular effect on the listener. Great music is worth more than we ever pay for it.

On Episode 46, Dylan Neal of Thief came on the show and played us a bunch of crazy music. This time, Dylan and I sit down and listen to the new Thief album recently released by Prophecy Productions entitled "The 16 Deaths of my Master." Dylan shares with us production techniques, reveals hidden gems within the songs, and we discuss the themes and ideas within the music. This is, without a doubt, my album of the year, and has been in constant rotation at my house, and in my car, as well as being incessantly in my head. Dylan is a fascinating person, an engaging artist, and "The 16 Deaths of my Master" is a staggering work of heartbreaking genius. Please pass the aux to Dylan, and join us as we discuss our teenage years, geek out over plug-ins and VSTs, and delve into the world of Thief. https://thief-official.bandcamp.com/ -------------------- "I Hate Music" theme by Marius Sjoli. -------------------- https://www.facebook.com/hatepod.music/ https://www.instagram.com/i_hate_music_podcast/ Email and listener suggestions to: hate.pod.music@gmail.com Donations to support our podcast: paypal.me/hatepod #ihatemusicpodcast **I Hate Music is an Earth in Sound Production** https://www.earthinsound.org/

When I first heard about Thief, I was skeptical. I was about to embark on a short tour with one of Toby Driver's various projects, (Piggy Black Cross), and Toby told me Thief from Los Angeles would be joining. That first night of tour Dylan and Thief stunned me with the craft of their songs, the passion in their performance, and I was instantly impressed with their unique and dynamic shows each night. Now, a few moons later, we have shared the stage a handful of times and Thief has cemented itself as one of my absolute favorite bands. In 2019 Thief released "Map of Lost Keys" on Prophecy Productions. The album is a rich and emotional dive into the musical mind of Dylan Neal, who writes and records all the music himself, but is joined by two others for live performances. Come listen to us get unhinged while we discuss production techniques, obscure bands from the Czech Republic, racism in art, and of course, share music... and don't forget to pass the aux! -------------------- "I Hate Music" theme by Marius Sjoli, performed by Billy Smeer. Every now and then when the cosmos align perfectly, your dearly departed cupcake truck customer leaves you a garage...err, carriage house... behind a used-to-be bakery in the heart of a major metropolitan city. The other part of this super realistic fantasy is that she left the attached bakery to her distinguished-hot nephew who only kind of remembers he had an aunt. These two star-crossed bakery owners, Nikki Deloach - Natalie - and single dad Eric, Dylan Neal, go back and forth a bunch of times about whether or not to dump their prime realty. But when they both get baked by the love cupcake (see what I did there?), neither can resist risking it all to revive Delitto's Bakery and a little 75/25 romance. With what money? We seriously still have no idea. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
