One of the best aspects of The Hallmark Mysteries & More podcast is its exclusive focus on Hallmark mysteries. As a mystery fan, this podcast hits all the right notes for me. I thoroughly enjoy listening to the interviews with popular mystery actors, directors, and writers, as it provides an insider's look into the making of these films. Additionally, Sydney and Eric's fun and entertaining personalities make each episode enjoyable to listen to. I appreciate that they don't shy away from calling out elements of the movies that may not make sense, while still maintaining their love for Hallmark.
While I personally love the focus on Hallmark mysteries, it may not appeal to everyone. Some listeners who are more into the romance element of Hallmark movies might find themselves wanting more content related to that genre. Send us a textWhat do you get when you mix Agatha Christie with Sherlock Holmes, toss in a dash of Jennifer Shannon, and top it off with a Hallmark mystery?Well, Garage Sale Mysteries: The Novel Murders, of course. The mystery series has been Andrea's favorite while Eric has been lukewarm. But with this 6 installment of the mystery series starring Lori Laughlin, Steve Bacic, Sarah Strange, and Eva Bourne, we both agreed it was a 5 out of 5 mystery. Synopsis:Jennifer Shannon (Lori Loughlin) is a garage sale shopping expert whose sharp observation skills allow her to uncover valuable antiques, as well as help her local police department investigate crimes and solve mysteries. When an impoverished man enters Rags to Riches - a consignment shop where Jennifer sells the gems she's found at garage sales - and asks for an item home-delivered, Jennifer agrees. Upon her arrival at his run-down apartment, Jennifer finds the man murdered. As the police survey the crime scene, Jennifer cannot help but think there is something familiar about the details of the killing – and soon realizes that the victim's cold-blooded demise is a re-enactment of a murder in a classic mystery novel.Follow us on social media: Instagram: @hallmarkmysteriesandmoreYoutubeOr visit our website. Send us a textWe are onto episode 7 of The Way Home and The Spencer Sisters. The two series continue to go in opposite directions. The Way Home seems to be getting more convoluted, but not in an interesting way. We are struggling to connect with any of the characters. Well the characters we are supposed to be interested in. As a result, we are becoming apathetic versus intrigued by the twists. However, when we switch over to The Spencer Sisters, it is precisely the opposite. Episode 7, The Lawyer's Lament, maybe the best one of the series so far. And the bar is high. Unlike TWH, we are totally invested in the characters and their relationships. We enjoy seeing their characters grow and their relationships evolve. Follow us on social media: Instagram: @hallmarkmysteriesandmoreYoutubeOr visit our website. Send us a textThis week we discussed the 6th epidodes of The Way Home, "Ain't No Sunshine" and The Spencer Sisters "The Winemakers Woe". While there were moments each of us enjoyed in The Way Home, this episode didn't do much to get us back into the episode, which is a disappointment since the last episode showed some promise. Kat continues to only care about Kat. We go back to the 1800s, which lost much of its appeal (if there was ever any appeal), and any sense of time travel rules seem to be out the window. But then we moved on to The Spencer Sisters and met a new love interest for Darby. Andrea appreciated there was less conflict between Victoria and FDarby and enjoyed the scenery of the vineyard. While Eric continued enjoying every time Victoria was on the screen. And Victoria finds a new love and does a wicked tango as well. Send us a textIt took Dylan Neal several years to agree to do a podcast. He knows he can't hold himself from telling you like it is. But once the damn was broken, he felt he had more to share, and we appreciated it. He doesn't sugarcoat things but isn't vengeful or petty, either. He just tells it like it is. But we couldn't let Victor come on the podcast and not discuss Summer Villa, quite possibly the best Hallmark movie of all time. Send us a textIn our weekly dive into the pond, we discuss the 5th episode of The Way Home, Reeling in the Years. After a week of optimism after the 4th episode, this one took a huge step backward with conflicts that don't make sense, plots that are going who knows where, and back to time travel rule-breaking. We are left asking the question, does anyone like Kat?Then we discussed The Spencer Sisters, which we thought we would agree. But we didn't. Andrea gets triggered over the mother/daughter bickering, which is one of the main reasons Eric enjoys the show. But we also had a difference of opinions on the actual mystery. Send us a textThe time has come to conclude our breakdown of the Gourmet Detective series as we discuss Roux the Day. Henry and Maggie are firmly cemented in their relationship in this movie as they return to the show's roots with an epicurean mystery. We also get more of Henry's dad, as their restaurant is key to solving the mystery. And since this was the final episode, we each ranked all five mysteries from our "least" favorite to our favorite. Send us a textIt's time for our weekly dive into the pond. While we have not been loving The Way Home for a while, this episode transported us back to our Season One vibes. A lot of the confusion of who can time travel was explained in this episode, and we finally have a sense of what is going on. Are we all the way back in? Maybe not. The off to The Spencer Sisters Episode 4, The Restaurantuer's Ruin. We are loving this series and the characters. Eric is a little more due to his Gen X crush on Lea Thompson. While we may have disagreed on the core quality of the mystery, we both loved the unraveling of the mystery. Send us a textWe discuss the fourth Gourmet Detective movie, Eat Drink, and Be Buried. The episode starts with a hilarious mix-up that turns deadly. We also saw a very young Chris McNally and our recent guest, Lucie Guest, in an acting role. We are treated to more sizzling chemistry between Henry and Maggie. We also glimpse Henry's back story as we meet his dad. Send us a textIn this episode, we break down a couple of 3rd episodes. First, we discuss what is going on with the pond on the Landry farm in The Way Home S3 EP3. As this season unfolds, we are left with more questions than answers. And not the good type of questions. The magic of the pond was once unique and intriguing but now seems to be universal knowledge. Couple that with plot holes that seem to be arising from everyone's time-traveling, and you get what is shaping up to be a mess. Then we move on to the delightful mystery series on Hallmark Plus, The Spenser Sisters. The mother-daughter chemistry is off the charts, making the show absolutely delightful. The writing is snappy, and the acting is impressive. While we can't wait to get out of the pond, we are practicing self-restraint to keep from binging the entire series in one sitting. Send us a textIn this double episode, our friend Dara from Dear Hallmark stopped by to help us break down the second episode of The Spencer Sisters. While the first episode showed much promise, did the second one maintain that enthusiasm or were we disappointed? Dara and Eric love Victoria, and Andrea is a little more reserved in her excitement. But one thing we all agreed on: this series is fun! And, of course, we jump into the pond and discuss the second episode of Season 3 of the Way Home. A whole lot is going on as the gang travels back to 1974. And it seems we are getting way more questions than answers. It seems everyone has been time traveling and the rules of time travel are being stretched. Plus, some major questions are brought up about an entire plot line of season 1. Is it good and intriguing or just annoying?Follow us on social media: Instagram: @hallmarkmysteriesandmoreYoutubeOr visit our website. Send us a textTo find a hotter director over the past few Countdown to Christmas seasons than Jeff Beesley would be hard. He has directed The Santa Summitt, Never Been Chris'ed, Miracle in Bethlehem, Carol for Two, Christmas on Call, and Follow Yonder Star. But he is not just a Christmas director, having directed the recent Haunted Wedding as well as the all-time great Love Strikes Twice. He even directed a mystery, To Catch a Spy in Malta.Follow us on social media: Instagram: @hallmarkmysteriesandmoreYoutubeOr visit our website. Send us a textIn this episode, we dive into the second installment of the Gourmet Detective series, A Healthy Place to Die. While we both love the series, this is Andrea's favorite because it takes place at a wellness retreat. We learned from our interview with Dylan Neal that this was supposed to be the 3rd mystery, but Hallmark canceled the second one and bumped A Healthy Place to Die up to that slot. This created a bit of a conundrum as Henry and Maggie headed off to spend the weekend at the resort together after just recently meeting. Did they pull it off without seeming weird? Listen and find out. Follow us on social media: Instagram: @hallmarkmysteriesandmoreYoutubeOr visit our website.
