Back in 2006, we meet Charlotte and Austin. They're star-crossed lovers in the classic "we're from different worlds" trope. They sneak out of their respective houses, walk through the snow, and make their way to the horse stables for some moody, teenage romance. They kiss, they swear eternal love, they give each other gifts like a necklace and a horse book. Suddenly, Austin's dad shows up like a human snowstorm of bad advice, telling him to just join the Navy. Charlotte is going to forget all about him and he'll be better for it. Fast-forward to the present, and guess what? Dad was right. They did go their seperate ways. Austin is now running her familes estate. Their grandma died and left her estate and the family businesses to three siblings who couldn't be more different if they tried: Charlotte, the ambitious New Yorker; Henry, the mafia-adjacent sibling with questionable life choices; and Benedict, the fancy one with a fancy girlfriend and an even fancier fake accent.Cue Rachel Boston, who rolls up to the estate playing Annie Markel, the estate planner who is giving Mary Poppins. She has a purse that is full of contracts instead of candy and umbrellas, and she's here to stir the pot. The siblings are suspicious. But Rachel Boston, being the MVP that she is, wins them over with her expert grief counseling and unsolicited life advice. She's basically the motivational speaker your mom would hire for a family reunion. She's Matt Foley but with a car instead of a van. She also makes them decorate the house because Christmas.Austin and Charlotte reconnect when he shows her that he's still a horse-riding, stable-owning stud. He apologizes for ghosting her for the Navy. Charlotte's all, "No hard feelings, because if you hadn't left, I wouldn't have met my ex and had Cody, who's the center of my universe."As the family drama unfolds, the siblings realize the board is about to vote someone in who isn't them. They work together to figure out how to make sure that doesn't happen. Amidst the chaos, they find old memories—Henry sobs about their parents' tragic death, Benedict uncovers an old engagement ring, and Charlotte suddenly realizes, "Hey, I still love Austin!" after seeing him bond with Cody. Then, in a classic holiday move, the brothers chop down a Christmas tree together and decorate it while debating what grandma's wishes might have been. They decide to throw a Moorehouse Christmas gathering, hoping Aunt Eloise has a crystal ball or some insight. Spoiler: she doesn't.Things heat up when Austin and Charlotte almost kiss, but an unexpected TUBA performance and a random holiday football touchdown stop them in their tracks. Because romance. Then—because we needed more drama—Cody goes missing. The entire family, along with Rachel Boston, turns into a snow-covered search party. Henry gets roughed up by a mafia guy who threatens to cut off his fingers. But hey, Cody's fine, and Rachel Boston finds him by the stables, where he asks her where her angel wings are. She laughs and says they're hidden, which is both adorable and cryptic.Cue Benedict's fancy British fiancée showing up for the Christmas party, because, of course, the plot thickens. Charlotte and Austin decide to try this whole love thing again. Just as things are looking up, Austin gets a job in Maine. He's got to leave, but Charlotte, being the understanding goddess she is, lets him go.But Rachel Boston? Oh, she's got a little holiday magic up her sleeve. She figures out a way for all three siblings to be on the board, with only one seat as chairman. Charlotte gets the coveted spot and rushes to tell Austin before he leaves. She wants to go with him and get Cody enrolled at the school, while she'll work remotely. They share a kiss in the barn from Ride.Rachel Boston dips out, her job done, and leaves the family better than she found them, even though that wasn't actually that hard.

Tierney composed the music for NARNIA, based on C.S. Lewis' The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, which has played in The City of London Festival, Off-Broadway in New York, and in more than 1000 productions throughout the US, Canada, Great Britain, and Australia. His Narnia Suite for symphony orchestra and four singers premiered at New York's Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center. He wrote music and lyrics for Jungle Queen Debutante, produced for New York's NYMF Festival and by Seattle's Village Theatre. He contributed several songs (music and lyrics) for Off-Broadway's Pets! and the music for The Dream Team (Goodspeed Opera) and Tommy Tune's one-man musical, Ichabod (Boston and New York). Another musical of Tierney's, ELEANOR - An American Love Story, has played in many US theaters, including Ford's Theatre in Washington (two Helen Hayes Awards), Chicago's Marriott Theatre in Lincolnshire, Seattle's Village Theatre (Issaquah, WA), the historic Barter Theatre in Virginia, and the Pittsburgh Public Theatre. His musical The Year of Living Dangerously, based on the novel that became the film starring Mel Gibson, Sigourney Weaver and Oscar-winner Linda Hunt, was presented in concert at Feinstein's/54 Below in NYC in 2017. Current projects include Diamond and the North Wind, based on the classic novel At The Back of The North Wind by George MacDonald, and A Girl's Guide to Moving On (with co-author Joseph Robinette), based on the novel by best-selling author Debbie Macomber. Beyond musicals for adult humans, Tierney has also written several for young audiences which include The Tuesday Afternoon Regulars, The Fabulous Fable Factory, and its sequel, The Fantastic Return of the Fabulous Fable Factory — all with co-writer Joseph Robinette. TheatreworksUSA has commissioned and toured six of his musicals nationally, including The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (which toured nationally for 25 years). His musicals are published by Dramatic Publishing and Concord Theatricals (Rodgers & Hammerstein). Website: https://www.thomastierney.com/
A Reel Page Turner completes a deep dive into holiday favorites with Debbie Macomber's Trading Christmas (or is it When Christmas Comes?) The 2011 Hallmark adaptation stars Faith Ford, Tom Cavanagh, Gabrielle Miller, and Gil Bellows. It's our last episode of 2022! Happy Holidays! See you all next year!Connect with A Reel Page Turner: https://www.facebook.com/groups/352221223264794https://www.areelpageturner.com/Twitter: @AReelPageTurnerInstagram: @AReelPageTurnerTikTok:@areelpageturner
New York Times bestselling author DEBBIE MACOMBER joins BOOKSTORM podcast to talk about her Christmas release, The Christmas Spirit! Laugh with us as we celebrate friendships and talk about love! We addressed common relationship issues - do opposites really attract? Aren't shared values important? We touched on male bonding and friendships … and the level of intentionality necessary to maintain those important relationships. One of Debbie's characters made a list of everything she wanted in a mate. Have you ever made such a list? (Yes, one of us did!) What happened when you deviated from it? Finally, against the backdrop of Christmas, we talked about community and acceptance. What better way to ring in the Holidays than with the official storyteller of Christmas herself!
We kick off the holiday season with the classic Debbie Macomber book Mrs Miracle and its 2009 Hallmark Channel movie adaptation. The film stars James Van Der Beek and the late great Doris Roberts as the titular character.Connect with A Reel Page Turner: https://www.facebook.com/groups/352221223264794https://www.areelpageturner.com/Twitter: @AReelPageTurnerInstagram: @AReelPageTurnerTikTok:@areelpageturner

Book Club Fiction Jessica Strawser joins Queries, Qualms, & Quirks this week to discuss not believing in her own writing, being inspired by the authors she interviewed, realizing successful authors are regular people, the difference between knowing what a good query letter is and writing your own, the overlap in publishing schedules, worrying you've wasted so much time, advice from Debbie Macomber, and not being afraid to take a pause. Jessica Strawser is editor-at-large for Writer's Digest, contributing editor at Career Authors, and author of five popular book club novels, including the Book of the Month selection NOT THAT I COULD TELL. Most recently, A MILLION REASONS WHY released in a new paperback edition, and her latest, THE NEXT THING YOU KNOW, hit shelves March 22 from St. Martin's Press. Why is gratitude so trendy right now? Does journaling about gratitude actually work? In this episode of Shut Up and Sit, we're switching things up! As Yedda moves into chapter 9, focusing on gratitude, her friend and community member, Amanda Eaddy McKeithan, interviews Yedda on the power of sharing your true self and your story with the world and advocating for women empowerment. Then, Amanda talks to Yedda about her relationship with gratitude and leveraging the power of words to create good in the world, along with some incredible insights on how cultivating gratitude can help you blossom and reach success. “Having this sense of gratitude is major…I believe that our words can either heal or they can kill.” - Amanda Gratitude doesn't mean you're always grateful for the good stuff. Sometimes, it allows you to sit in suffering, move through it, and as Amanda says, heal. “Gratitude, if you know it or not, has really been under the current the whole time because all of existence is cheering for you, loving you, supporting you, is grateful that you are here… You matter simply because you exist.” - Yedda Resources: Listen to the episode of Yedda on Amanda's podcast: *Link needed* Buy the book: www.yeddastancil.com/buy-the-book Take the course: www.yeddastancil.com/take-the-course Twenty Wishes by Debbie Macomber: https://amzn.to/37rJFNE About Yedda: As a consciousness coach and consultant, Yedda strives to be present with everyone she meets, aspiring to pay total attention without judgement. Dedicated to serving something greater than herself, Yedda defines her life's work as “walking others home to the truth that we are ALL the highest and grandest expression of Source.” Yedda offers a unique blend of leadership, mindfulness, and personal development skills to clients, helping them to integrate mind, body, and soul. Our Trailblazer episodes continue this week with Jayne Ann Krentz, who has done it all: writing for Vivian Stephens, writing historicals, writing contemporaries, writing space-set, fantasy, and paranormal romance, writing nonfiction about romance. In addition to managing life as JAK, Amanda Quick, Stephanie James and more, she's also a legend of the genre because of her vocal resistance to the way society, literature and academia talks about romance novels. In this episode, we talk about her journey and the way she continually reinvented herself to keep writing, about the importance of writers' core stories, about genre and myth making, and about the role of romance in the world. We could not be more grateful to Jayne Ann Krentz for making time for Fated Mates. Next week, our first read-along of the year will be Lisa Valdez's Passion, an erotic historical published in 2005 that is W-I-L-D. There is a lot of biblical stuff at the world's fair. Also some truly bananas stuff that…sticks with you. Get it at Amazon, Apple, Kobo, or B&N.Thank you, as always, for listening! If you are up for leaving a rating or review for the podcast on your podcasting app, we would be very grateful! Show NotesWelcome Jayne Ann Krentz, she has had lot of pen names, including Jayne Taylor, Jayne Bentley, Stephanie James and Amanda Glass. Now she publishes under 3 names: Jayne Ann Krenz (contemporary), Jayne Castle (speculative fiction romance), and Amanda Quick (historical). She has said, “I am often asked why I use a variety of pen names. The answer is that this way readers always know which of my three worlds they will be entering when they pick up one of my books.”We read Ravished for the podcast in 2021, or three decades ago. You know how it goes in these pandemic times.People mentioned by Jayne: editor Vivian Stephens, author Barbara Delinksy, author Amii Loren, agent Steve Axelrod publishing executive Irwyn Applebaum, author Susan Elizabeth Phillips, author Kristin Hannah, author Debbie Macomber, author Christina Dodd, author Rachel Grant, author Darcy Burke, editor Leslie Gelbman, editor Cindy Wong, editor Patricia Reynolds Smith.
As part of the holiday season, Charlotte will read for a holiday themed book every Sunday.
For our last episode of the year, we wanted to bring you our conversation with author Debbie Macomber from 2015. Her work includes fiction, nonfiction, children's books, knitting and cookbooks, and inspirational books. She's also released a yearly Christmas-themed book for decades, hence the timing of this episode. At this point, she has more than 200 million copies of books in print; she's published over a dozen book series; 70 other stand-alone books; plus several anthologies and collaborations. That's a pretty amazing bibliography. Starting with the revelation of Debbie's “literary guardian angel,” our guest host Ron Hogan brought us through a discussion that ranged from her first break as a writer to her love of knitting to how reader feedback impacted her series of Christmas books. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/nationalwritersseries/message

Netflix and UpTV have joined the chat you guys! That's right! This week on binge or cringe there are eight movies up for grabs to talk about. Honestly, I don't know how I'm going to survive watching them all but I'm going to try! Hallmark dominated the week with four knockouts; Gingerbread Miracle, Next Stop, Christmas, Debbie Macomber's a Mrs. Miracle Christmas, and A Christmas Treasure. They're all worth bingeing. Netflix had one good one in Love Hard - “say it's the Mormons” will live rent free in my mind now, and one flop in Father Christmas Is Back. And then there's UpTV - the Big Lots version of Hallmark. I don't know what was worse, the plot lines of Christmas with a Prince: The Royal Baby and A Royal Christmas Engagement, or the wardrobe and prop departments - who let the plastic hangers on set?! Grab your fuzzy socks and jingle bells, we have a lot to talk about! --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

Here's to another polarizing episode for the record books with our special quest Rhett Palmer. Rhett Palmer started his career in radio at the early age of ten. He was hired to go “On Air” as he squirted mustard and ketchup onto the all new indoor-outdoor carpet at the carpet department at Montgomery Wards. He was then interviewed by the local DJ to confirm that the carpet washed with mere water was in fact clean as a whistle! He would later return to radio as a talk host at the age of forty. Rhett is now a twenty-four year daily radio host veteran as well as a magazine publisher for nearly a decade. Known as The Mayor of The Airwaves tm, he has interviewed U.S. Presidents, Secretary of States and Governors as well as celebrated Hollywood stars, hundreds of NY Times bestselling authors, inventors, purported aliens from outer space and rock stars. A prolific composer, Rhett's songs include Have A Very Merry Christmas for Debbie Macomber's Hallmark movie Call Me Mrs. Miracle, the Gold Advertising award winning Coming Home for the Holidays jingle for The American Red Cross and advertising jingles for automobile and boat dealerships, The American Lung Association, The Honeywell Corporation and more. Mr. Palmer has performed and sold his gospel and patriotic songs on six continents and composed and sang his positive thinking songs for corporations including Coldwell Banker Real Estate , Mary Kay Cosmetics and Shaklee. Rhett took First Place Vocalist in Nashville's Music City Song Festival and has garnered multiple awards for his radio talk show. He writes poetry on a daily basis and still composes songs. He is a published writer and has traveled internationally as a Christian missionary. Rhett Palmer lives in Vero Beach, Florida and continues as a morning radio host six days a week on iHeart Radio on The Rhett Palmer Show. He can often be found at local charity events supporting the community he loves. Hope you enjoy the show.

Are you ready to make 2020 YOUR year?! This week we talk about the importance of physically writing down your goals to make them happen. Wendy is a perfect example of the power of writing them down: inspired by a workshop from Debbie Macomber, she's managed to check off every single goal she wrote down for 2007! Listen how she did it...
It's the most wonderful time of the year! A time for gathering with family, drinking lots of egg nog, and reading some absurdly terrible Christmas-themed books. First up this year is Christmas Letters, a delightful little romp from Debbie Macomber about a woman who finds love in the last place she thought to look (her own apartment building). Then there's The Christmas Thief, co-written by the mother-daughter team of Mary Higgins Clark and Carol Higgins Clark, about a Bernie Madoff type who hides diamonds in a tree and the merry band of self-satisfied lottery winners who manage to bring him to justice.
