Does your to-do list feel endless? Try this short, guided practice to help you reflect, reconnect, and release the pressure to do it all perfectly. How To Do This Practice: Find a Comfortable Posture: Sit or stand tall with a sense of dignity, grounded, yet relaxed. Take Three Cleansing Breaths: Inhale twice through the nose, then exhale slowly through the mouth. Repeat this three times to settle into the moment. Scan Your Body from Head to Toe: Gently bring your attention to each part of your body, noticing sensations and letting go of any tension as you move downward. Visualize Your To-Do List as Floating Bubbles: Imagine each task as a bubble above you. Observe them without judgment, simply noticing their presence. Ask Reflective Questions: Is it the number of tasks that's overwhelming, or is it fear of forgetting, failing, or letting someone down? What's truly fueling your stress? Recenter with Gratitude and Self-Compassion: Acknowledge that being needed is a form of purpose. Remind yourself that even if not everything gets done, you are still enough and already whole. The story goes that Kansas City was just supposed to be a pit stop on the road back home for Frank Boal. He'd cut his teeth in a large television market and eventually go cover the boyhood teams he once cheered. But once he got to Kansas City he loved it. The people reminded him of people in Pittsburgh, his hometown. They're warm, charming and love their teams. Frank became part of the fabric of Kansas City, emerging as one of its most recognizable media personalities ever to walk across the TV screen as he carved out a 36-year career mostly as a sports director. It's a body of work that is tough to match and why the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame is proud to induct Boal with the Class of 2017. Frank spent 28 years at WDAF-TV in Kansas City and then finished his career at KSHB-TV, all the while working for 810 WHB Radio and earning respect from the athletes and coaches he covered.

Episode 309 Is living alcohol-free for you? My guest in episode 309 is Lindsay Sutherland Boal, a trailblazer in the sobriety community who shares insights into the meaning of an alcohol-free lifestyle and what it takes and doesn't take to create a lifestyle that alcohol can't touch. You will love this episode if you are on the fence about going alcohol-free.  Lindsay Sutherland Boal is the visionary founder of The Uncovery App, a groundbreaking platform that redefines how women approach changing their relationship with alcohol. Unlike traditional sobriety resources, Lindsay's work challenges the myth that one must hit "rock bottom" to make meaningful life changes.  In this episode, you'll hear: Why you don't need to hit "rock bottom" to make meaningful changes in your relationship with alcohol - and how to listen to those early whispers of change The vital role of community and women-only spaces in providing judgment-free support and authentic connections How radical accountability and asking powerful questions like "What am I waiting for?" can uncover deeper motivations Why there's no "perfect" time to begin your alcohol-free journey - and how uncertainty is a natural part of the process The importance of empowering language in shifting perspective from what you're giving up to what you're gaining Understanding the distinct phases of the alcohol-free journey - from initial curiosity to active lifestyle changes To learn more about Lindsay and this episode go here.  Thank you for listening today!  Resources Mentioned The Uncovery App She Walks Canada Lindsay's website Episode 186 with Lindsay   Let me help you make living alcohol-free in midlife a better experience!

We walk the talk with guest Lindsay Sutherland Boal founder of She Walks Canada and The Uncovery App. An incredibly insightful conversation where we explored how women are showing up in all areas of life, the definition of problematic drinking, the pitfalls of trying to moderate,  and so much more. Determined to create solutions she struggled to find, in 2021 a year after giving up alcohol, Lindsay launched She Walks Canada. She Walks Canada is an online platform that offers connection and coaching to likeminded women on a path to alcohol free living. After overachieving her goal of women walking the globe together, Lindsay pondered what's next? Taking her mission to the next level she developed The Uncovery App. Just released in the spring, this is the first women centric empowerment app through the lens of alcohol free living. We're so excited about the quest Lindsay's on to help woman discover the bright side of life. As suggested by patron Keith S, this week we take a detailed look at Madeira, the Portuguese island that makes a unique and delicious fortified wine! We discuss the very important history (it's why the wine is made the way it is, so even if you hate history, don't skip that part!), the geography and climate of this far-flung island, the grapes that thrive here, and the unbelievable way this fortified wine has been made for centuries. Photo: Frasqueira Madeira, Boal 1977. Source: Getty Images (canva) From the single varieties, to dryness levels, to aging levels, we give a broad overview of this complex wine. We share the facts about the wine and sprinkle in commentary about why we love it so much. There is always a bottle around here for a reason (and part of that reason: you can open it and it won't spoil for months and months…!).   Ditch your idea of cheap cooking versions, this is the real Madeira and we hope this inspires you to try it!   As promised here is a list of the Madeira brands: HM Borges, Henriques & Henriques, J. Faria & Filhos, Justinos, Don Pablo, Pereira d'Oliveira, Barbeito, Broadbent, Madeira Vintners, and Madeira Wine Company (owns Blandy's, Cossart Gordon, Miles Madeira, Atlantis) Photo: The HM Borges Sercial and the Caracol from FitaPreta, DOC Madeirense. In the late 2000s and early 2010s, people were growing wary of the "War on Terror," and Hollywood was starting to respond. In this episode, we examine Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal's "The Hurt Locker" and "Zero Dark Thirty," two vastly different films where Bigelow and Boal try their best to critique the "war" while also showing the horrifying realities of its perpetuation. We get into our own thoughts on the films, whether or not they're actually successful in conveying what we think they're attempting to say, and seriously question why we dared to watch/rewatch these movies back-to-back in the first place.
