He wishes for Nikki to love him more than anyone else in the world. The wish works, which is exactly the problem. Today on What's My Frame, I'm joined by casting director Leeba Zakharov, a native New Yorker whose career spans more than two decades across film and television. An immigrant raised on the Lower East Side, Leeba's journey into storytelling is deeply personal. She minored in theater at SUNY Albany. Prior to transitioning into casting, she built a foundation in development and acquisitions, serving as an assistant at Miramax and Madstone Films, and later joining Focus Features.Leeba proudly credits legendary casting director Avy Kaufman as a pivotal mentor and someone who instilled in her a lifelong commitment to collaboration, trust, and honoring the vulnerability of actors. That philosophy continues to shape her work today. Bilingual in Russian and English, Leeba brings a culturally nuanced perspective to the stories she helps bring to life.

The popular 1980s franchise is becoming lifelike through performances of Nicholas Galitzine as He-Man, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Jared Leto as Skeletor, and more stars like Idris Elba, Kristen Wiig, and Sasheer Zamata.Christina Hodson has been tapped to write The Brave and the Bold, an upcoming Batman film set in the DCU for DC Studios with Andy Muschietti set to direct. Hodson has several other DC credentials, having worked with Andy Muschietti on The Flash. She also penned the Margot Robbie-led Birds of Prey movie. Her other credits include the 2018 Transformers movie Bumblebee.Max Parker, star of the Netflix series Boots, has joined the cast of Prime Video's God of War adaptation series. Parker will play Heimdall who first appeared in the second God of War game, God of War Ragnarök, as an antagonist.Oscar nominations have been announced and Ryan Coogler's Sinners set a record with 16 total nominations. Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another followed with 13 nominations. Warner Bros. scored 30 nominations in total, tying its record number of nominations set in 2005. Indie distributor Neon and streamer Netflix had 18 noms each, while Focus Features had 13 and A24 had 11. Netflix's Frankenstein, A24's Marty Supreme and Neon's Sentimental Value all garnered nine nominations, while Focus' Hamnet had eight. All are in the marquee Best Picture race joining Sinners, One Battle, Focus' Bugonia, Apple's F1, Neon's The Secret Agent and Netflix's Train Dreams.Illumination and Nintendo's The Super Mario Galaxy Movie will now open on Wednesday, April 1 instead of April 3. Illumination also revealed an extended teaser trailer that features the first look at Yoshi.A massive winter storm impacting much of the U.S. is taking a toll on the domestic box office as numerous communities and cities advised citizens to stay home, and more than 400 hundred theaters closed. Overall revenue is expected to fall to the lowest point of the year to date. The weekend's winner is new thriller Mercy, starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson. On Saturday, MGM Amazon Studios reported an estimated $12.6 million opening before the extent of theater closures was known. Overseas, it started off with a promising $11.6 million.AppleTV has renewed Shrinking for a fourth season ahead of its season 3 premiere this week.

Happy Tuesday! Today is 11/11, a series of numbers that many see as a symbol of spiritual awakening, synchronicity, and alignment with the universe. I'm not too superstitious about these things, but when I catch it, it brings a smile to my face. Is it divine intervention or coincidence? And does it matter? In thinking about alignment, it feels very apropos to be sharing this particular conversation today with self-described nerdy fangirls Adamma and Adanne Ebo, the identical twin powerhouse behind the indie breakout film Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul. We met making this film back in 2021—I remember we were in prep when the Ebos were about to turn 30. The incredible ascension they've experienced over these last five years is the epitome of alignment and synchronicity. Shortly after wrapping Honk, Adamma was tapped to direct her first television episode on Donald Glover's Atlanta—the kind of opportunity that only comes when talent meets the right moment. Timing really is everything, and while their success is absolutely the product of talent, hard work, and vision, there's also been a beautiful alignment of opportunities, relationships, and moments that propelled them forward. Call it luck, call it the universe conspiring—either way, their story is inspiring. From their days at Spelman College to making their feature debut with Honk for Jesus. "Bugonia" is an absurdist black comedy film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos from a screenplay by Will Tracy that adapts the 2003 South Korean film "Save the Green Planet!" by Jang Joon-hwan. The film follows two young men who kidnap a powerful CEO, suspecting that she is secretly an alien who wants to destroy Earth. The film stars Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Aidan Delbis, Stavros Halkias, and Alicia Silverstone. It had its world premiere in the main competition of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival and also screened at the Telluride Film Festival to positive reviews. "Anemone" is a psychological drama film directed by Ronan Day-Lewis in his feature directorial debut, from a screenplay he co-wrote with his father, three-time Academy Award winner Daniel Day-Lewis, who also stars in the lead role. It features the latter's return to acting for the first time since "Phantom Thread" in 2017, alongside Sean Bean and Samantha Morton. The film had its world premiere at the 2025 New York Film Festival and received positive reviews for the performances, dark atmosphere, striking cinematography, and haunting music by Bobby Krlic.
