Our Mothers Knew It with Maria EckersleyA Creative Study of Come, Follow MeBook of Mormon [2 NEPHI 31-33] Insights“This Is the Way”March 18 – March 24, 2024WEEK 12: SUMMARY=================Lesson Summary:55 years after his family left Jerusalem, Nephi wrote his final guidance to his people. His words are plain and precious and riveted on the Doctrine of Christ. His rich teachings about the Holy Ghost and encouragement to “press forward” offer bright bursts of light to those seeking to stay on the covenant path.Questions for week 122 Nephi 31:19 | How is unshaken faith possible at this early stage on the strait and narrow path?2 Nephi 31:20 | Where did you see the “bright hope” Elder Maxwell articulated demonstrated in Nephi's life?2 Nephi 32:3 | We often think of feasting as a metaphor for how we consume. Are there other ways “feasting” applies to the Words of Christ?2 Nephi 33:6 | We often speak about being His children, His brother and sisters, His covenant people. How is He also ours?2 Nephi 33:15 | Earlier in his life Nephi said things like I will go and do the things the Lord hath commanded. Now, he says “he must obey.” Why? Is this a more mature form of obedience? Does it mirror the Savior's obedience somehow?CHAPTERS=========00:00:13 INSIGHTS INTRODUCTION00:03:02 SPARK 1: DUAL IMMERSION00:08:23 SPARK 2: CLEAR EYES, FULL HEARTS00:13:26 SPARK 3: THE LONG ROAD UP00:19:57 SPARK 4: THE GIFT OF STRAIT AND NARROW00:23:54 SPARK 5:HOW TO DO ALL THINGS00:27:38 SPARK 6: BE A READY RECEIVER00:32:40 SPARK 7: LOOK UP FOR REASSURANCE00:38:07 QUESTIONS00:42:58 WRAP UPFollow Maria on:Creative Come Follow Me digital courseMeckMom.comInstagram @meckmomlifeYouTube CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST DISCLAIMER: This podcast represents my own thoughts and opinions. In this episode, I discuss the importance of living up to our names and being examples. I let my sister Shelby retell the story of Nephi with one of her True Tales from the Book of Mormon. If you want to listen to her podcast it's called Book of Mormon for Youth. It's so great. Then I talk once more about how miracles and signs don't convert us long term and talk about Nephi and the signs the people saught and what happened to them. I share many examples from the New Testament showing how faith precedes the miracle. I then wrap it up by sharing some thoughts from Elder Maxwell about submitting our wills to God.
