The Core Four Boys got together this week to talk about the losing streak, the Grizzlies' late-game struggles and give their hot takes on the NBA. In X's and O's, Xavier explains why Memphis has struggled to execute at the end of close games. Matt believes the blame should go to coach Taylor Jenkins and if he can not improve Memphis may be looking for a new coach in the offseason. Dave praises Golden State's off-ball movement in their offense and wants the same for the Grizzlies. For Kleiman Corner, the guys patiently wait for Memphis to make a trade to steady the ship. Trades for OG Anunoby, DeMar DeRozen, and Kevin Durant are discussed to see who fits best with the Grizzlies' current roster and the price for each. Looking across the division, Matt explains why the Kyrie trade could make the South West division even more difficult for Memphis for years to come. The guys then Embrace Debate, breaking down the NBA All-Star snubs and break down why Jaren Jackson Jr. was a worthy addition this year. On this week's Core 4, Xavier and Dave saw the Grizzlies in person in Indiana and at home and give their takeaways from the environment and the pair of wins. Dave saw Ja Morant's dunk on Jalen Smith in person and it inspired the guys to Embrace Debate by ranking their top four dunks of Morant's career. Xavier had the poster on Smith as his favorite, Dave has it lower on his list and Matt doesn't believe it cracks the top four. Where does the famous Ja-Breaker from the show's intro rank? In the Barkleys segment, the guys own up to their worst takes on the Grizzlies this season. Matt admits the Grizzlies are a little bit better than a play-in team as he predicted in the offseason. Xavier has grown to trust Santi and Dave is disappointed in the lack of good teams across the league. This League has plenty of rugged road environments, making the one seed in the West even more critical for Memphis. Xavier points out that the road record is actually on par with the rest of the league. The current 10-game winning streak has not given Dave any more confidence for the playoffs. Matt believes Memphis should aim even higher to have the best record in the entire league. To close the show the guys visit the trophy case to give out their awards for the last 10 games. In this week's NBA Title Contenders Ranked by the College Football Playoff Committee, Xavier and Matt have finally convinced Dave that Denver deserves the top spot. Matt and Dave have similar lists and it comes down to Xavier to break the tie. Where does Memphis land in the contender race? To wrap up the show, the guys visit Kleiman Corner to discuss Dave's favorite trade target: Jordan Clarkson. Clarkson was ejected from Sunday's Utah versus Memphis game but Dave believes that doesn't count out Clarkson as a potential addition for the Beale Street Bears.
