The Third Temple and the Abomination that Make Desolate. In order to understand what may soon come to pass on the Temple Mount we must look at various positions regarding the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple… i.e. the third temple. We all know that one of the main obstacles in the way of rebuilding a Jewish Temple on Temple Mount are the Islamic buildings which are currently occupying this space. One possibility is based upon a little publicized rabbinic writing from a Rabbi Architect named Moshe Komsky that is linked to or cited on both the Christian study bible site Blue Letter Bible and the Jewish templemount.org site if you know where to look. I will play part of a video in which I believe well known past Kenesset member and temple mount activist Yehuda Glick espouses what I believe is the very idea expressed in this Jewish paper. This proposal suggests that because the Dome of the Rock was built by what the Jews consider to be the monotheistic religion of Islam it would be suitable to not only remain on temple mount next to a Jewish temple but could indeed be incorporated INTO the House of Prayer for all Nations… i.e. the end times Jewish Temple. The paper proposes that the Dome of the Rock would become a central altar or worship area and then wings would be added onto it as houses of worship for each of the 4monotheistic religions which according to this paper includes Hinduism. This would then make this Dome of the Rock which very well could have been built right over the place of the Holy of Holies into a house of prayer for all nations as the proponents of this idea call it (but we call it a house of prayer for all religions). Actually we'll go one step further and call it the Abomination that makes Desolate should this be the route that is taken and we will explain why. Once I show this to you and explain the symbolism you will not be able to UN-see it and it should cause anyone who loves and wants to honor YHWH and Y'shua His Salvation to sigh and cry over this Abominations being done there as in Ezekiel 8's account of the writer with the ink horn.

Holy crap, did that suck! The weather went from bad to worse yesterday…with rain, snow, thunder, lighting & then some. Had a HELL of a time cleaning my truck off this morning. Thankfully, there's about 13 hours of college basketball today starting at 11am to keep me occupied! In the news this morning, stories about a new scam making it's way around the state, a former Vice Chancellor gave unauthorized raises, the NFL draft in Green Bay is going to feature a "dive bar" experience, Henry Firearms is moving ALL of it's manufacturing operations to Rice Lake, and President Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order to eliminate the Department of Education. In sports, we recapped last night's final "First Four" games and looked ahead at today's schedule in the tournament. Plus, the Bucks are taking on the Lakers tonight in LA and Aaron Rodgers will NOT be a Viking next season. Elsewhere in sports, the QBs that will be featured in the second season of Netlix's "QB" show were announced yesterday, and the Trump Administration has suspended $175 million in Federal funding to the University of Pennsylvania. Let you know what's on TV tonight and talked about today being the first day of Spring! Plus, it's "Hypothetical Thursday", so we asked each other some hypothetical questions. Jean's question for Brian was: "If money weren't a concern, where would you go on vacation?" Brian's question for Jean was: "If all animals could suddenly speak, would you still eat meat?" Cool story about the New England Aquarium building a retirement home for it's older penguins, and in other aquatic news…the fish doorbell is back! As winter approaches, the twinkle of festive lights heralds the season of joy and reflection. In 2024, this season offers an extraordinary convergence, where Hanukkah, the Jewish festival of lights, and Christmas, the birth of Jesus Christ, align perfectly on the calendar. Hanukkah, meaning "dedication," commemorates the rededication of the Jewish Temple in 165 BC. The festival's origin lies in the Maccabean Revolt against Hellenistic domination under Antiochus Epiphanes. This revolt led to the miraculous victory and subsequent cleansing of the Temple, commemorated by the lighting of the menorah. Lighting the menorah is a central tradition, where each candle signifies hope, divine presence, and the miraculous sustenance of the Jewish people. The lights are not functional, but symbolic—a reflection of God's enduring presence and an inspiration to live in His light. Christmas marks the incarnation of Jesus, the true Light of the world: God took human form to bring salvation to humankind. It begins with the Advent season—an anticipation of Christ's birth and eventual second coming—and proceeds into the Christmas Day festivity and beyond. From December 25th to January 6th, the "12 Days of Christmas" celebrate significant Christian figures, such as Saint Stephen, John the Evangelist, and the Holy Innocents. These observances call Christians to reflect on faith's steadfast examples and draw inspiration for modern life. So, we invite you to ponder the intersection of light in both traditions. The menorah's glow during Hanukkah parallels the advent candles flickering in Christian homes, together casting away darkness and embodying hope, joy, and divine presence. This confluence also finds roots in the Gospel of John, where Jesus is described celebrating Hanukkah—affirming His identity and mission as the Light of the world. The festival's themes of dedication and light resonate with Jesus' role, drawing believers to reflect on personal dedication as a living temple of the Holy Spirit, meant to illuminate God's glory. In both Hanukkah and Christmas, the invitation to "dedication" runs deeply. Hanukkah celebrates the Temple's rededication; likewise, Christmas calls for personal dedication to faith in Christ for salvation and sanctification. This convergence is an opportunity to rededicate by living out values that reflect the love and light of God. Together, as we light the menorahs and adorn Christmas trees, let us celebrate the connections between Hanukkah and Christmas, cherishing the light that shines through both of these sacred traditions. Episode #169 Jeremiah is known as the ‘weeping prophet'— and he genuinely had a lot to ‘cry about'! The people of Judah would not listen or repent. He was the last prophet to a culture that was headed for destruction. And, Jeremiah watched as the enemy burned the 400 year old Jewish Temple of Solomon to the ground. A LOT to weep about! But still, in his ‘lamenting' (the book of Lamentations was written by Jeremiah) Jeremiah found hope in a God who remembers— ‘great is your faithfulness' (Lamentations 3:23)!

Although similar to the Christian "Signs of the Times" before the Second Coming of Jesus, Orthodox Jews believe in their own Jewish "Signs of the Times" before their Messiah comes.  In this episode of Religion Today, host Martin Tanner describes the Jewish "Signs of the Times" including the Red Heifer, an unblemished, perfect red Angus cow, originally imported from the United States, but improved in Israel through breeding.  According to Jewish tradition, the next Red Heifer sacrificed will signal the coming of the Messiah.  Other signs of the Messiah that have already taken place include the restoration of the restoration of the Hebrew language as a primary language in Israel, the establishment of the modern State of Israel, planned, intense Jewish preparation for rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem, and anti-Semitism on university campuses and elsewhere.

Is the arrival from Texas of five "perfectly red heifers" in Israel a sign of prophecy being fulfilled, a prophecy that foretells the construction of the Third Jewish Temple and the arrival of the antichrist? When these red heifers landed in Israel in September 2022, the event was so controversial that Hamas later used it as a pretext to justify its attacks upon Israel on October 7, 2023. Hamas alleged that the red heifers' arrival into Israel showed the Jews' intent to rebuild their Temple and thus displace and destroy one of Islam's major shrines: the Al-Asqa Mosque, which sits upon the site of the old Jewish Temple. Many saints believed that, once the Jews rebuild their Temple successfully, this would be the occasion for the arrival of the antichrist foretold in Scripture. Is that time upon us now? One of the reasons mentioned for the October 7 attack by Hamas against Israel was due to the "red cows in the Holy Land." The red heifers are now grazing at a secure location along the West Bank. Some Jews and Christians believe they are key to rebuilding the Jewish Temple that once stood in Jerusalem, and therefore, beckon the Messiah. Within the Book of Numbers, there is a command that the Israelites offer for sacrifice a "red heifer without defect or blemish and that has never been under yoke." He made a whip out of cords and drove them all out of the temple area, with the sheep and oxen, and spilled the coins of the money-changers and overturned their tables, and to those who sold doves he said, “Take these out of here, and stop making my Father's house a marketplace.” John 2:15–16All four Gospels speak of Jesus' cleansing of the Temple. However, there is a difference between the way this event is portrayed in the Synoptic Gospels (Matthew, Mark and Luke) and in the way it is portrayed in John's Gospel. John's Gospel places this event at the very beginning of Jesus' public ministry during the first of His three annual trips to Jerusalem for the Passover. This was His first attempt at cleansing the Temple. Jesus was also less severe in John's version of the story, stating only that the moneychangers had turned His Father's House into a “marketplace.” In the three Synoptic Gospels, this event takes place at the very end of Jesus' public ministry, less than a week before Jesus' death when He returned to Jerusalem for the last time. In those versions, Jesus was more severe, stating that the moneychangers had turned His Father's House into a “den of thieves” and not just a “marketplace.” In commenting upon the differences between John's version and the Synoptics, Saint Augustine and Saint Thomas Aquinas believe that they are two different occasions when a similar act of cleansing of the Temple took place.The Jewish Temple, at the time of Jesus' public ministry, was the place people traveled to each year for Passover to offer the sacrifice of a spotless lamb in commemoration of the first Passover in Egypt when God set the Jews free from slavery. During this annual celebration, Jewish families who traveled to Jerusalem would purchase a lamb for sacrifice. At the appointed time, they slaughtered the animal in the courtyard of the Temple and then presented it to the priest who gathered some of the blood and sprinkled it on the altar, and then removed the skin, organs and fat to be burned in sacrifice. The meat was returned to the family and roasted on a pomegranate branch so that they could feast on it as they recalled the saving action God granted their ancestors in Egypt. Today, we see the Jewish Temple as a symbol and prefiguration of Christ, the New Temple Who is also the priest and the Lamb of Sacrifice. Recall, also, that at Jesus' death, the veil of the Temple was torn in two, opening it up to the whole world so that all may share in the Sacrifice of the Lamb of God. We are now invited into this Holy of Holies to share in the new life of grace accomplished by His Sacrifice. Since the grace of this Sacrifice of our Lord enters into each and every heart that believes, to cleanse and purify, then every person receiving this grace becomes a new dwelling place of God, a member of His new Temple, the Body of Christ.When Jesus came to the Passover feast and witnessed the buying and selling of these animals in the Temple, He drove them out with much zeal. It was clear that this holy celebration of the Passover had become less of a celebration of faith and more of a marketplace for profit. Jesus' action is also a symbol of the zeal with which He now seeks to cleanse the temple of your soul. At first, when sin and disorder pervade our souls, our Lord may take the approach of a gentle rebuke, as He did in His first cleansing of the Temple in John's Gospel. If we persist in our sins, then our Lord will become more zealous in His cleansing as He was in His final attempt to cleanse the Temple the week before He died.Reflect, today, upon this twofold cleansing of the Temple in Jerusalem by our Lord and apply Jesus' sacred actions today to your own soul. Are there new sins that you have fallen into recently that require a gentle rebuke from our Lord? Are there sins that Jesus has been revealing to you for years now that you obstinately persist in? Allow Him to rebuke you in love and to cleanse you so that His saving Sacrifice as the Lamb of God will indeed purify you, and allow His judgment and wrath to “passover” you this Lent.My cleansing Lord, You cleansed the Temple of Jerusalem not once, but twice. Your zeal for its purity of worship was clear. Please come and make my soul Your dwelling place today and cleanse me of all sin. Please help me to especially see any ways that I have remained obstinate in my sin, and please cleanse those sins with much vigor. Jesus, I trust in You.
