Statistics show that women are less likely to fight for the raise or promotion that they believe they are due, based on how they will come across at work. On this episode, we continue our Salary Negotiation series with Career Consultant for PGA of America, Kathy Grayson. We talk about how to know when it’s time to approach your supervisor about a raise or a promotion as well as how to start that sometimes awkward conversation. Kathy talks about how research is very important when negotiating a raise so that you are as prepared as possible for any “stalls” leadership may throw at you. FAB Podcast host Kristeen Reenders met this month's guest Jocelyn Verveldes six years ago when they both played volleyball at Central Michigan University. On this month’s FAB podcast Datorria Robinson talks to Jacqie McWilliams, the first African American female Commissioner of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), the governing body of 12 member institutions and 14 championships. Commissioner McWilliams was a student athlete at Hampton University where she was a member of the 1988 NCAA DII Women’s Basketball Championship team and the 1987 and 1990 CIAA Volleyball Championship teams. Player of the Year, Freshman Player of the Year, All Conference all four years. A former two sport student-athlete, she also spent time at the NCAA where she served as the Director of DI Women’s Basketball Tournament from 2006-2009, and the Men’s DI Tournament from 2007-2012.
