This week Sam, English Dan, Andrés, Santi and Fer review a weekend that saw mixed results for all our teams, including Guillermo Barros Schelotto's first defeat – and first victory – as Vélez Sarsfield manager. The group stages of the Copa Sudamericana and Copa Libertadores are underway, and we have plenty of listeners' questions (including a couple Sam forgot last week).

Welcome to the 104th episode of Guarani Vision, the first-ever podcast dedicated to Paraguayan football in English!
See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Then, Bone was fired up to see Guillermo Barros Schelotto attend Juan Roman Riquelman's testimonial match (20:59) and they transition that conversation into why they'd love to see testimonials be played in MLS (24:09). Finally, the guys close with Arsenal landing Declan Rice (33:26).

And if both the League and the LA Galaxy thought you would forget about what they said on Friday, Josh is here to tell you he hasn't forgotten. The Galaxy were punished for cheating during the 2019 season when they acquired midfielder Cristian Pavon from Argentine giants Boca Juniors. And with then-head coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto and then-General Manager Dennis te Kloese guiding those talks, how did the Galaxy and Chris Klein end up as cheaters? What legacy will Klein or anyone associated with this scandal have? And what short and long-term effects will it have on an organization already fighting for relevance within their own city? Why did the Galaxy make soccer not fun? And what should be the reaction from AEG to this communal mistrust that was perpetrated?

And the 3-0 loss to the Vancouver Whitecaps put the perfect "bow" on a horrific season. On today's show, hosts Josh Guesman and Kevin Baxter breakdown what happened after the game and why Galaxy players may have tipped their hands on what it was like to play under Guillermo Barros Schelotto. Can the guys connect some dots and add some insight into who was being held accountable and who wasn't? And should Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez be trusted with any say in the club's next coaching choice? This episode will dive into the Galaxy's thoughts on Dominic Kinnear, why he might be the perfect answer for the wayward club, and how David Bingham thinks the Galaxy made themselves good last time. Does it all come down to keeping things simple to make players good? And what seems like a reasonable timeline for the Galaxy to pick their next head coach? Finally, the guys give you some stats on Designated Players, on win percentage, and on a whole bunch of other things that you don't want to hear -- but you need to! We've got over 70 mins of Galaxy-talk heading your way, and we're glad you could join us through the entire 2020 season. We're not going anywhere, but we'd still like to say thank you!

But instead, about a minute before we went on air, LA Galaxy General Manager Dennis te Kloese said he'd be available for some questions. So we dropped him into the show and talked about all things Galaxy for over 30 mins. So while this show was going to cover so much about what happened on Wednesday night, instead we ended up talking with Dennis about scouting, the timing of the firing of Guillermo Barros Schelotto, analytics, Cristian Pavon's future, and why Dennis is still the best man for the job. Along the way, we'll talk about Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez, why the Galaxy keep having Designated Players that are always injured, and what things Dennis has done to make the Galaxy better. And will Dominic Kinnear be given a fair shot at this head coaching job? Dennis talks about Kinnear and what he has meant for this club. Along the way, Josh will give you some injury updates, talk about Jonathan dos Santos and Sebastian Lletget both being called up to their respective national teams, and why the game against Vancouver will still be a serious affair. The season is almost over, the Galaxy are still playing to keep from being the bottom of the conference, and we've got a GM on the show. Sounds about right for 2020! Welcome back to another episode of the Third Sub Podcast! In their 60th episode, Alex and Sam are back, as usual, this time to chat about the Vancouver Whitecaps. First, they pick over a tough 'Caps loss to the Portland Timbers on the weekend, they dive into what that result means for the rest of the Whitecaps season, as the loss left them all but eliminated from the MLS playoffs. From some quiet games from the forwards, to another tough individual error defensively, they look at what plagued the 'Caps against their rivals, as they would be unable to reverse their struggles against Cascadia opposition this season. They then take a look at the Third Sub of the Game from that match, which in this case was Theo Bair, giving one word for his performance off of the bench. After that, they look at the 'Caps 4 nominees for player of the year, which were revealed this week, sharing their thoughts on who made the cut and who didn't. Lastly, they look ahead to the 'Caps next game, a clash with the LA Galaxy, which depending on what happens this week, could be a 'win-and you're in' game in terms of rescuing Vancouver's playoff hopes. Against a resurging Galaxy team who looked freed up by the firing of Guillermo Barros Schelotto, it won't be easy, but at the very least, it'll be a chance to end the year on a high note. If you have Twitter, make sure to check out The Third Sub Podcast @thirdsubpod!
Jason Davis and Jared DuBois discuss the upcoming USMNT camp, including if Chelsea will allow Christian Pulisic to play during the break after his most recent injury, which European based strikers will be called-in, if the US will find another opponent for the international break and if they even play at all as Europe continues to lock down. The guys also debate who will take over for Guillermo Barros Schelotto at LA Galaxy after they narrowly avoid the Wooden Spoon. They close out with an update on Old Dad FC.

Doop! The Union project is fully mature, and they took years of frustrations out on Toronto FC. Andrew, David, Doyle and Calen give Jim Curtin and Philadelphia their due and wonder whether a double is in the cards. A double is possible because the Supporters’ Shield is back, as the decision not to award the trophy in 2020 was reversed by the Supporters’ Shield Foundation. Doyle is, of course, a Shield truther, and he says this proves the trophy means more than it ever has before. Calen, meanwhile, is back on the Carlos Vela hype train, even if LAFC’s star still looks a half step slow. Alicia Rodriguez (SBNation) also drops by to drop some Chicharito and Guillermo Barros Schelotto takes and explain what’s going on in San Jose and Sacramento. 8:00 – Huge win for the Union! What’s it mean, and now what? 25:07 – LAFC gets Carlos Vela back and they’re back in the MLS Cup convo 37:02 – INTERVIEW: Alicia Rodriguez on LAFC, Chicharito, Guillermo Barros Schelotto 58:16 – Playoff races heat up! So who are we watching down the stretch? 1:03:04 – Nagbe? Zelarayan? Maxi? Vela? What’s the biggest return from injury? 1:07:54 – 22U22 and Aron Johannsson in the mailbag!
COG LA GALAXY DISCORD: https://discord.gg/9g8FcfU COG MERCHANDISE (SCARVES, T-SHIRTS, BUTTONS, COASTERS): http://www.cornerofthegalaxy.com/SHOP COG STUDIOS, Calif. -- Following right on the heels of the final presidential debate of 2020, CoG decided to give our own views on some of the most significant issues surrounding the LA Galaxy. What follows is our very poor version of a debate that will cover a wide range of topics and discussion points. Your hosts for the day are Josh Guesman, Eric Vieira, and Larry Morgan (Sophie couldn't make it -- she was afraid of the mute buttons). The guys will tackle some tough questions and get you answers that you may not like. Additionally, all three of our hosts will help you get ready for the LAFC game on Sunday. Josh will start by introducing our candidates and laying some of the ground rules. Then, it's a free-for-all when we invoke the name of Bruce Arena more than 3,000 times, tell lies about secret Twitter accounts, love letters to Joao Pedro, and question foreign money coming into both of speakers. Then Eric will call Larry "Sleepy Larry," and everything will really go sideways. But along the twisting and winding way, we'll tell you what we think should happen to Guillermo Barros Schelotto, Dennis te Kloese, Chris Klein, and Dan Beckerman. Plus, should the Galaxy try to keep Cristian Pavon or Chicharito? We've got a packed show that gets you up to the kick-off of another El Trafico. ANOTHER EL TRAFICO? Yeah, another one! And everyone here wants to make sure that you're voting! Seriously, go vote! Thanks for joining us on a wacky, fun night. We hope we distracted you from the World's problems for at least 60 minutes! Stay safe! Vote!
