Bonus Episode: Guest interview with Wanji! This interview follows episode 39 with Paige Elenson, co-founder of Africa Yoga Project. Wanji shares her story about AYP transforming and saving her life, as a student then becoming a Certified Baptiste Teacher, and now a Programs Manager for AYP. She is passionate about sharing yoga and her love of and gratitude for AYP. Wanji will share about AYP's upcoming global Sweat Serve Share challenge starting November 1, 2020, in which she is one of the teachers leading yoga and meditation. To join this challenge visit africayogaproject.org. Wanji chatted with me from her home in Nairobi, Kenya. Eliam Wanjiku (Wanji), Programs Manager for Africa Yoga Project (AYP), is part of the senior management of the organization, one of its oldest employees and most experienced teachers, and a graduate of the program. Wanji has been part of AYP since her first class in 2009. After that first class she made up her mind that yoga was what she wanted to do with her life. She became a certified Baptiste Yoga Teacher through AYP's 200-hour training and has been teaching yoga for 10 years. She has since completed Baptiste Level 2, Baron Baptiste's Leadership Workshop and numerous other trainings in Kenya, Mexico and the US. She has worn many hats at AYP, working on donor engagement, the mentorship program, coordinating AYP teachers across Africa, managing the Shine Center (AYP's community wellness and yoga center in Nairobi), in marketing and communications as AYP Brand Manager and as Executive Assistant to Paige Elenson, AYP Co-Founder and Executive Director. Wanji's experience as a yoga teacher ranges from free outreach classes in the community where she grew up (Kariobangi, a low-income neighborhood in Nairobi) to private lessons for ambassadors and the UN community in Nairobi. She has attended Hanuman Festival in Colorado and has taught yoga on 5 AYP fundraising tours at yoga studios across the US. She has led retreats and workshops in Africa and will lead her first retreat in Europe in September. In June she will represent AYP on the organization's first fundraising tour in Europe, teaching at yoga studios across the Netherlands and Belgium. Wanji has experience teaching Baptiste Power Yoga, YOD (Your Own Determination) and pre-natal yoga. She has a diploma in Business Management and certifications in computer skills and disaster management. She is also a trained doula. Wanji's intention as a yoga teacher is to lead practices that are soothing and challenging, according to each student's needs in a given moment. Wanji is leading change by demonstrating the importance of yoga to the world. She believes when we come together to practice yoga it inspires us to share ideas and release stress. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/spirituallyfityoga/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/spirituallyfityoga/support

MagaMama with Kimberly Ann Johnson: Sex, Birth and Motherhood
This interview is not about offering answers, a strategy or a plan but more how to navigate deep change by embracing the unknown, dancing with mystery and meeting one-self in a tender transparent integrity every step of the way. At the beginning of 2017, Jessica's business and marriage were falling apart, she was sinking into debt and found herself facing an identity crisis in both her personal and professional lives. She made a radical decision to embrace her resistance, step into her deepest fears, and set forth to intentionally fall apart in a wholesome way. Kimberly meets Jessica somewhere on her journey in this interview. She's rebuilding her marriage, and navigating how she "does business" from a place that's generative, collaborative and restorative. Jessica Durivage, the creator of Where is My Guru – an award winning podcast and online school for personal development and spiritual transformation has been a bridge builder for the health and wellness communities and conscious media for over 15 years. Where is My Guru has presented at SXSW, Hanuman Festival, and created the groundbreaking Sex, God & Yoga online conference for women. Currently, Jessica works with clients and small business supporting them in navigating change, building bridges, and transcending and creating new cultures that meet the business and the individuals who interact with it in an honest and wholesome way. In this episode Jessica shares: Why Jessica dissolved her business The issues Jessica encountered with a thriving business but a failing marriage, a sick father and in debt How we know what enough is for us as working women and parents Placing value on skillset within your passion How to allow space for yourself from breakdown to breakthrough What you’ll hear: “Where’s my Guru” Jessica’s passion project (3:00) The assumptions made by people on social media when your business is virtual- it’s not often what it looks like (10:00) Jessica becoming transparent and finding her truth (17:00) How we feel that we must be a “task master robot” (20:00) Conditioning from wholeness and placing value on our skillset (25:00) Slowing down, letting go and leaving room for the unknown to allow things to come (32:00) Approaching your “to do” list in a different way (38:00)

Today on The YogaRevealed Podcast, we tune in with Colorado’s Hanuman Festival Director, Yoshi Aono! Yoshi reveals how he stays focused to the purity of yoga while running a successful business. Yoshi began his journey on the beaches of Kauai, Hawaii in 1989. His Asana (postural) practice evolved overtime, after he was through touring America in a rockband. Boulder, Colorado has been home base for 26 years, which spawned the birth of one of the Worlds most prestigious yoga gatherings, The Hanuman Festival. “Whatever you do in life, you gather your skill sets so you can go into your next endeavors...and do it with that much more experience. It is apart of being an entrepreneur.” Yoshi, Yogi-preneur, believes we all have a purpose and we are here to make a difference, thus creating a better existence for us all. His offering to the world is through creating and maintaining The Hanuman Festival. The Hindu God Hanuman is the ultimate devoted yogi, in undying service to Sita and Ram, thus inspiring the name of the festival, Yoshi explained. This festival is committed to the transformation that yoga provides, which is Yoshi’s fuel to keep going. Hanuman Festival brings in the worlds most renown yoga instructors from across the world, from dozens of styles and lineages of practice. Going into their 6th year, Hanuman Festival has gone through challenges and stipulations. Success in any business takes time, persistence, and trust in order to get out there and make a difference through your business. Having a business connected to a self-transformational practice is an entirely different conversation. How to be profitable while honoring both parties involved is the unique challenge brought to the table. The receiver and the presenter must be in unison to the intention; to transform and evolve. It takes balance. What is yoga? Yoshi found in the financial world that money could be made from endeavors. But he asked deeper questions. Why are we here? What are we contributing towards the evolution of humanity and what are we doing for our community? Creating this festival gave Yoshi the drive to move past the challenges and shadow of having just a normal business. He wanted to create something special. He creates a safe space for internal transformation to take place inside the festival grounds. “GO OUT THERE AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE!” Yoshi and his partner, Dayna, created Hanuman Adventures which takes on the normal yoga retreat and vamps it up with how to give back. Yoshi takes you to sacred sites around the globe and yes, you eat great food, practice yoga in amazing places, but you enter the culture and the community. Hanuman Adventures help build community homes, clean up underprivileged areas, and work with kids. You truly tap into the sacred land itself. Understanding and gaining a perspective of how other people live on this planet offers gratitude to us for the life we live. This is why Hanuman Festival exists. To create a profound transformation on and off the yoga mat. Yoshi will go to Bali in March 2016 and Peru in October 2016. 5 Tips on how to run a business in the Yoga Industry- Be realistic, be viable as a company. Have a business model and plan.-Have a positive relationship with money. It is OKAY to make money. Provide something of extreme value.-Have devotion to community & create something unique. -Never give up. Be committed. -Be efficient. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
