STATEMENT TIME!!!!! FC Cincinnati puts together the most complete game the season and just in time. A 3-1 victory over Philadelphia Union blew the lid off of TQL for the first time and saw the Orange and Blue cross back over the playoff line. The night saw the end of Haris Medunjanin's time in MLS and it was fitting he went out against the club that brought him to America. It also saw the beginning of a new era with the introduction of Matt Miazga. Player chant you say??? Well listen and you get one!!As always Adam Kuhn hands out accolades and player ratings. Man of Match?? There were 4 to choose from. Adam Weigand? Even with his voice still shot from Saturday night he "sings" the praises of the orange and blue.#FCCincy #YAL #AllForCincy #FCCincinnati

We hadden beide onze stokpaardjes.

Opsajd, osamnaesti. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

Injury ReportIt is with heavy hearts that we announce (and most of yall already know) that Josef suffered an ACL tear during the MLS openerTypical recovery for this type of injury is 3M to running, 6M to cutting and 9-12M to get back fully recovered mentally and physicallyWe still don't know if it is a partial or full tear yetThis could mean PB&J will never play together again as it is realistic Barco gets traded in the offse asonJosef has scored almost 40% of Atlanta United’s goals (that is over our entire history)Escobar was seen holding his right thigh at halftime and was taken off precautionary reasonsMiles has started running but not training with the team yetEdgar Castillo (rib injury)Total Tactics (makes the most since after injury report IMO and just focus on Josef)What does our lineup look like without Josef?174 of our 198 goals (historically - all time) have been scored by Josef, Villabla, Miggy and GresselWill we find a replacement or run with Adam Jahn?Season-ending Injury List:“Though it would come with the thudding finality that we won't get to see the superstar play until 2021, Atlanta could place Martinez on the season-ending injury list. Such a move would render him ineligible across all competitions for the remainder of the year, but they'd get some roster relief.Atlanta wouldn't get his Designated Player slot back, but, as Martinez makes more than $100,000 this season, they would be eligible to receive another senior roster spot to sign a replacement player. The replacement player can be signed for up to $250,000 this season, which would be an exemption on top of the salary cap.The 2018 MLS Cup winners would not be able to use allocation money to buy down that figure, meaning they couldn't acquire a player on more than $250,000 if they are designated as an injury-replacement. Theoretically, they could clear another senior roster spot to sign a more expensive player, should they have the budget (and/or allocation money) to do so.Atlanta United have until the end of the Primary Transfer Window (May 5) to decide to place Martinez on the season-ending injury list and sign a replacement. Clubs can only sign one replacement player per season.”Injury List:Placing Martinez on the injured list would crack the door open for a late-season return while still offering some limited roster relief. The move would make him ineligible for a minimum of six MLS league games. During the time Martinez is out, the club would have an extra senior roster spot to use. If he returns, the club would lose that extra roster spot. This move doesn't come with any additional budget help, but the club could spend whatever they could fit under the salary cap on that player.Remember: Atlanta acquired a base of $750,000 Targeted Allocation Money plus an additional $350,000 in incentives from D.C. United for Julian Gressel, as well as $1.05 million in allocation from Columbus Crew SC for Darlington Nagbe. They also received a transfer fee for Tito Villalba, up to $1 million of which can be converted into General Allocation Money.RecapStinger from Hyndman (up for goal of the week) and Barco both scored goalsWalker Zimmerman scored a goal off a set piece for NashvilleWhy didn't Willis (goalie) get a red card for those crazy two handballs at midfield?Blake talks about atmosphere brieflyBlake got score prediction right - 2-1MAN OF THE MATCH - Emerson HyndemanBeer of the Week (Terrapin)RecreationAle is specially formulated to accompany you on all of your adventures. An historic Josef Martinez hat trick and two early Philadelphia Union red cards powered Atlanta United to their first home win in three games as the Five Stripes stayed atop the Supporters’ Shield standings with a 3-1 win Saturday night in Atlanta. The beginning of the game looked like we were preparing to settle in for just another nice, normal soccer match in good old Atlanta, Georgia before THE ENTIRE GOT DANG THING EXPLODED. 19-year-old center back Auston Trusty took down Martinez in the box and the Five Stripes were awarded a penalty, a moment that in most cases would merely change the game. Instead, it unraveled it entirely. Captain (!) Alejandro Bedoya and Haris Medunjanin both picked up two yellow cards for...whatever the heck happened there. “I was scared s***less,” Martinez said after the game. Despite being frightened to the point of voiding his bowels, Josef stepped up to make it 1-0 lead over a nine-man team. Atlanta immediately switched from a 3-5-2 to a 4-3-3, but despite the attacking minded tactics, the Five Stripes couldn’t find the net against Philadelphia keeper Andre Blake. Atlanta ended the half with 14 shots and just one goal, struggling to create chances in quality positions. Four minutes into the second half, the Five Stripes found a chance in a quality position. Fortunately, Atlanta United controlled the game going forward. After another barrage of shots that failed to find the back of the net, the Five Stipes finally caught a break in the 83rd minute. A Union handball sent Josef to the spot again, this time sitting on a hat-trick. The hat trick ties Josef with Stern John and Diego Serna for the MLS record in career hat tricks with five. It took Martinez 34 games to reach the mark, 21 games less than John. “First of all, I’m just happy that the team was able to get the victory tonight, that’s the most important thing. It had been a couple of games since we won at home,” Martinez said through a translator. “Obviously when you’re able to score goals you’re happy to help the team so it’s time to enjoy the moment and then move on and get ready for the next game.” Martinez seemed quick to pass attention elsewhere, but his manager appeared to be impressed by the striker’s accomplishment. “I think 11 versus nine for that long of a stretch, it was logical that he would find some spaces and find some goals. It’s good for him that he’s tied the record and now the next step is to break the record,” Tata Martino said through a translator. “I don’t know all the exact statistics about his hat tricks and how he’s scored them but you have to score goals and that’s what he did. I’m not going to take any credit away from him [due to #GameState] for scoring that many hat tricks in only a year and a half in the league.” By the time the final whistle blew, Atlanta had outshout Philadelphia 31 to five, with 10 shots on target compared to just one for the Union. Even still, Martino didn’t leave a glowing review for his side. “I don’t think we played well. We didn’t play well 11 on 11 and we didn’t play very well 11 versus nine,” Martino said. “I never worry about missed chances. I just think that’s something you work on. That’s never a motive of worry for me. What can be a reason to worry is when a team is up two players and they’re not moving the ball from side-to-side, they’re not circulating it, they’re not taking advantage of the space that they have. I think that tonight at times we may have been trying to do things a little too individually rather than collectively.” Atlanta returns to action on Wednesday in Kennesaw for a U.S. Open Cup meeting with Charleston. The MLS edition of the Five Stripes heads to the Bronx for a huge matchup with second place NYCFC on Saturday afternoon. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
