Annalise and I discuss the importance of making an impact on the world, how 12.7 million people are getting access to clean water, at the time of recording, and Charity Water's focus on helping the world's people get clean water and all of the impacts along with it.    How did you come to Charity Water, and when did you first learn about it? Did you know from the time you were in high school what you wanted to do with your life, or dedicate it towards an impact of service? Charity Water works in 29 countries, and has scaled significantly since inception in 2006. Your website says that while the water crisis is huge, we're optimistic. Can you tell me more about the vision and philosophy of the company? How does the lack of access to clean water affect people 785M people who still don't have access to clean water every day? In the context of my sophomore and Senior High School students, how might their lives be affected? Annalise talks more about how water access can fight poverty?   What is Oral History?: is a field of study gathering, preserving, and interpreting the voices and memories of people, communities, and participants in past events. Oral history is the oldest type of historical inquiry, predating the written word, and one of the most modern, now using 21st-century digital technologies and social media (on SnapChat, podcasts & YouTube).   Your task: interview an adult you know (in person, phone, web chat) and connect their experience to a larger historical narrative. Past Examples include military members, fire, police, business owners, war veteran, city employee, teachersm, and relatives that came to America.    Interview this person. Record their story in a 5-10 minute slideshow presentation. It could be someone historic, or simply a history of your family.  Everyone’s story plays a part in history somehow!    It is a great honor and privilege to record someone’s life story. It is also a great responsibility to care for that story and communicate it accurately and effectively. Be considerate.  Make sure they are aware that you will be sharing your interview with the rest of your class. His coaching in the arts of dialect and accents have instructed, entertained, and enlightened us all. Dr. David Alan Stern was one of my first radio guests in 2009. David Alan Stern is the best dialect coach in the United States. In our conversation, I am joined by English teacher Joshua Cauley, for a well-rounded discussion on wy accents matter, how they have originated, and how our speaking affects our students. David is an astounding educator because he seeks to teach in a dynamic and fun way that makes learning easier for his students. I discovered hum while checking audiobooks out at the library in my college days, and was instantly magnetized to his fun personality and his unmatched skill in teaching dialects and accents to any audience. He has coached thousands of language and accent learners, as well as actors such as Liam Neeson, Geena Davis, and Julia Roberts, and even a younger version of myself practicing for radio performances. I highly recommend his audio books, resources, and his teaching sessions as well.
