Data Analytics as a Competitive Advantage in Commercial Real Estate

Hosts Bill Condon and Matt McGregor sit down with Jason Miller and Bret Swango. Jason is the interim chairperson of the Department of Supply Chain Management at Michigan State University, while Bret is the head of Location Intelligence & Workforce Analytics at Colliers. They discuss the importance of data analytics in commercial real estate, why we will always have a persistent labor shortage and the fascinating relationship between gas and rent prices.   Commercial real estate has, for a long time, been driven by speculation, educated guesses, and gut feeling. However, with more investors looking for faster feedback loops, Bret believes data analysis will soon have the biggest impact on the industry in the long term.Jason reveals how investors can use big data to identify market inefficiencies, make faster decisions, and use that as their competitive advantage.Bret points out that the government stimulus is the main reason consumer debt is not higher than in 2008, even though people are spending copious amounts of money. What do NBA 3-pointers, NFL Championships, and Moneyball have to do with commercial real estate? According to Bret, data analytics changed how people played sports, and it's now time investors started using data to make faster and more informed decisions. According to a recent Deloitte and Fortune survey, the four main challenges facing CEOs right now are labor, supply chain issues, inflation, and geopolitical risks. All of which Bret believes can be mitigated by proper location.  As Jason explains, the best way to counter uncertainty risk is to gather more and better information. Bret and Jason discuss the relationship between gas and rent prices. For Bret, the most dangerous thing in business is finding the right answer to the wrong question. Jason makes his predictions on the future of the labor market and explains why over 40% of manufacturers are operating below their target capacity.Mentioned in this episode:Industrial Advisors

EPISODE SUMMARY The New York Giants joined the National Football League in 1925. From that time until 1964, the team had success. Here's how. Although there wasn't an NFL championship game played in 1927, the Giants were named NFL Champions based on having the best record in the league (11–1). They would play in 14 NFL Championship games between 1933–1963. Although they won only three of those games, playing 14 title games in 31 years is impressive.... O'Bradovich was selected as one of the 100 greatest's Bears of All-Time, played on the 1963 NFL Championship team with the Bears, and spent his whole NFL career in Illinois. In this episode, Dick Butkus is in the studio, alongside our hosts Matt Butkus and Matt Amendola, to talk to Ed about his journey from high school to the NFL, Ed's takes on the current NFL, and he shares some memorable moments playing alongside The Enforcer himself. Ed O'Bradovich, better known as “OB”, has spent his whole NFL career with the Chicago Bears. Perhaps the singular memory of O'Bradovich was when he intercepted a short pass in the 1963 NFL Championship game and ran down the field on a key play to help secure the victory for the Bears. Vince Lombardi was 45 years old when he became head coach of the Green Bay Packers. In this RockneCast, I discuss a victory banquet at the Green Bay Elks Club on April 30, 1962, four months after the Packers won their first NFL Championship, smashing the New York Football Giants 37-0. Tim Cohane, sports editor at Look Magazine, and noted chronicler of Lombardi, gave an epic toast to Coach Lombardi, describing how each obstacle on his way made him the perfect fit for Green Bay. Each disappointment provided the stepping stone on his likely path from New York to becoming a legend in Green Bay. This one one is short, the second in a seven part series on Vince Lombardi as part of my review of the excellent biography, "When Pride Still Mattered" by David Maraniss. For the next episode, I am going to cover the Jesuit Tradition and Vince Lombardi. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/rockne-cole/support

John Biever was born in 1951 in Port Washington, Wi. He started photography working with his father, Vernon, who was the long time Green Bay Packer sideline photographer. John started shooting football in 1965 with him and recalls being at the NFL Championship game in Green Bay that year; Cleveland Browns, NFL legend Jim Brown's last game. He vividly remembers shooting the 1967 NFL Championship game in Green Bay, the infamous ‘Ice Bowl', played in -15 degree temperatures. A picture he took at that game, of Packer QB Bart Starr scoring the winning touchdown with less than 30 seconds to play, has been called one of the iconic photographs of NFL history. He was 16 at the time. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin in 1973, he worked 13 years at the Milwaukee Journal & Sentinel, before leaving to freelance in 1986. He became a Sports Illustrated contract photographer in 1988, and a staff photographer in 1998. During his time at SI, he has been privileged to cover major sporting events, such as the 23 Masters Golf Tournaments, and 10 Olympics, including this year's Games in London. He has been credited with 129 SI Covers, which ranks in the top five all time number. He is one only photographer to have photographed all 55 Super Bowl games. He is a 2-time winner of the NFL Photographer of the Year' plaque, awarded by the Pro Football Hall of Fame. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/matt-brown57/support

This podcast covers New Girl Season 3, Episode 4, The Captain, which originally aired on October 8, 2013 and was written by J.J. Philbin and directed by Fred Goss. Here's a quick recap of the episode:Schmidt tries to break up Nick and Jess while Winston is trying to get his cat laid.We discuss Pop Culture References such as:Titanic / Billy Zane - Nick shared that “After [Schmidt] saw the movie Titanic, he started the Billy Zane fan club… called the Zaniacs.” We also discuss this article celebrating Billy Zane in the Titanic. Will & Kate & Pippa - Schmidt threatened he could break up Will & Kate, of the British Royal Family, with one email forcing their son, George, to live with “Slutty” Aunt Pippa.Additional Pop Culture References such as:Chicago Bears - Schmidt said the only thing Nick likes to talk about is the Chicago (Brown) Bears. The Chicago Bears are a professional American football team based in Chicago in the National Football League (NFL). The Bears have won nine NFL Championships, including one Super Bowl, and have also recorded more victories than any other NFL franchise. The Chicago Bears were also mentioned in S2E11 (Santa) and S2E14 (Pepperwood).Papa Smurf - When Jess was trying to turn Nick on she dressed like Papa Smurf. We went into depth on The Smurfs in S2E12 (Cabin). On this episode's Most Likely To, we discuss who would be more likely to not realize they were on a date, be afraid to talk about their feelings, feel very strongly about the cello, and use an ex's heartfelt apology letter to throw away gum in. We also cover our favorite Schmidt lines this episode as opposed to a true “Schmidtism”. For our “Not in the 2020s” we spoke about the fat shaming that came from Schmidt and Jess in this episode but our “Yes in the 2020s” include Nick expressing his feelings and Jess's support about Nick soundproofing the room without knowing what it was. We also give a quick look into Riki Lindhome, the Guest Star we featured in this episode. Also in this episode were the following guest stars who we do not discuss in the podcast: Justin Uretz (Pet Store Owner) and Anderson Davis (Guy with Cece). On this episode, we discuss how Lamorne is allergic to cats and we found the bear this episode when Schmidt mentioned the Chicago “Brown” Bears! We also discuss an article about the cat brother Winston started being a cry for help which you can read here. While not discussed in the podcast, we noted other references in this episode including:Obama - When Schmidt is trying to get into Nick's head, he tells him that he's the “Obama on the ski slopes”.  Barack Obama was the 44th President of the United States of America, elected in 2008. He was the President in office at the time of this episode's airing.Groundhog Day - When Nick is struggling to perform, Jess calls it a “Groundhog Day” situation. Groundhog Day is a North American tradition observed in the United States and Canada on February 2 based on a Pennsylvania Dutch superstition that if a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day and sees its shadow (due to clear weather) - winter will go on for six more weeks; if it does not see its shadow because of cloudiness, spring will arrive early. This episode got a 7/10 rating from Kritika and 8/10 from Kelly and we both had the same favorite character: Nick! Thanks for listening and stay tuned for Episode 5!Music: "Hotshot” by scottholmesmusic.comFollow us on Twitter, Instagram or email us at whosthatgirlpod@gmail.com!Website: https://smallscreenchatter.com/

Jalen Ramsey on winning a Super Bowl, leaving Jacksonville, Golden Tate feud and his top WRs in the game. In his first interview since winning the Super Bowl, All Pro Jalen Ramsey sits down with The Pivot to share his journey to his first NFL Championship. Reflecting back to playing on sport's biggest stage, Jalen describes an unexpected play that caught him on the wrong end of Cincinnati's big score and admits there was nothing he could do but laugh to himself and say, "That was crazy, that really happened in the Super Bowl..I was for real laughing. Like, I got scored on in the Super Bowl bro." Jalen jokes how he was probably just as happy as Tampa Bay fans to have Tom Brady back so he no longer will be the last person Tom Brady threw a touchdown on. The conversation shifts to the beginning of his career as Fred asks him to open up about his experiences in Jacksonville and why he really wanted out from that organization. Jalen explains his disappointment from draft day with hopes he would be the first defensive player off the board or end up the #4 pick with the Dallas Cowboys. Channing commends Jalen for making the moves to get out of an organization and compares it to Fred's decision to stay with a team who had no chance of winning. Ryan and Channing dig into the off the field rumors and ask what really transpired between Jalen and Golden Tate, the mother of his children's brother. Referencing ongoing feuds, Fred asks who Jalen would rather face in a celebrity boxing match: Golden Tate or AJ Green to which the All Pro answers, AJ Green. Jalen expresses his love for being a girl dad and how he cares more what they think of him as a man than any of his football accolades. As the conversation wraps, Ryan puts Jalen in the hot seat to name his top five wide receivers currently in the league which he struggles to get them out in order before ranking the four DBs after him. Moment of silence for the fallen teams of this NFL Divisional Round (& our heart rates). I think we all can agree that this weekend was either EPIC or STRESSFUL! Idk lets flip a coin to decide. Bengals, 49ers, Rams, and Chiefs all advance to the NFL Championship round while Brady, Rodgers, Allen, and Tannehill gear up for vacation. I went 0-4 this weekend but this may have been the best playoff series I've EVER witnessed.
